I've noticed that faster solos like Fade To Black or Tornado Of Souls in both cases worked pretty well with Comfortably Numb and Hotel California than the viceversa
Waiting for Gilmour fans come and say: ”Comfortably numb with Comfortably numb’s solo is the most beautiful thing ever. Period.” Or something along those lines
Man, this actually sounds really good! Two of my favorite solos and they actually sound pretty good switched. I dig this kind of content. Great job in making them sound so good!
This experiment shows how good Kirk is at writing melodic guitar solos. His solo fits a song like Comfortably Numb so well and the proof is in the comments. Cheers to Kirk and for you too Bradley for creating such a nice video, keep it up.
@@gurrenmed5319 Also Fuel, Spit Out the Bone, Inamorata, Room of Mirrors etc. He didn't really stop doing good guitar solos, their quality just kinda dropped :/ I'm really glad Unforgiven 3 solo gets recognition tho, that solo is amazing.
Wow Literally the first two solos that made me go "holy shit" back when I first got into rock, and what were for a long time my two favorite solos Both songs are probably like top 15 best songs ever, great rendition Beanie Hall 👍
Nice job making subtle timing shifts in your playing to fit the backing track of each. They both worked really well. Two of my favourite solos of all time.
Seriously, it’s hard to just free style your own stuff with such a familiar track in the background and not revert back to the original, much less try to keep with an entirely different known song. Great job!!!
It's funny bc I think the Comfortably Numb solo doesn't work that well on FTB bc it's not intense enough for that type of song but FTB's solo works surprisingly well on CN.
Honestly I’d have to say the Comfortably Numb solo over Fade to Black sounds so much more in key and just fits so well with the other parts in the song
Agreed. I'm sure people will throw rocks at me (and I don't care) but Fade to Black solo has a lot of weird moments with badly chosen pentatonic scale not fitting the key of the original song... Not even talking about it played over Comfortably Numb. What does that tell us? That Fade to black solo is not as great as people make it out to be :)
@@GarikBronnikov I think you're wrong because playing notes out of key doesn't mean they are badly chosen, using "wrong notes" tastefully is what makes solos interesting.
@@Vivi_9 Yes, you are right. But I doubt that playing a whole pentatonic scale out of key can be described as "tasteful". Anyway, I see your point, all further discussion will be purely subjective so let's just agree to disagree :) Also just so you know, I'm not a Metallica hater or something. I grew up listening to their songs and idolising them. And there are some Metallica solos that are not completely in key, but they are great! Solo in The Unforgivern for example; it has a pentatonic run that's slightly off key, but it sounds great :) So it's just a Fade to Black solo I'm having a problem with
Agreed. It fit so well that in some parts, I found myself expecting it to go back into the Fade to Black solo. I wonder how it would sound, switching back and forth between the two solos?
Nice switch, interesting to hear Fade to Black with a bluesy and mellow solo, and Comfortably Numb with a more intense and shreddy solo. I like the contrasts
All of us would be lucky and ecstatic to write an iconic solo as either one of these... hats of to both of those greats, and cheers to Mr. Hall for making the swap happen so flawlessly.
I think FTB's solo fits Comfortably Numb perfectly and CN's solo fits FTB really well - your playing brings out the majesticity of both solos too. I'm going to rewatch the video!
I fucking loved this, I’ve done the exact same thing when I’ve jammed to these songs and it’s so much fun. Both Kirk’s and Gilmour’s solos were perfectly with each other’s song and I love it, great as always man
Cheers for the great videos! When I was younger I really got into metallica and a little later pink floyd was my 3am drunk music. Great to come home at 2 am from the pub to see and listen to this
Dude great job, as always, Mr. Bradley!! Comfortably Numb is my favorite solo and Fade to Black is one of my favorite to and it was AMAZING watching this video. I would love if this become a serie!! Congrats for the great job!! 🔥🔥🔥🤟🤟
Fade to black over comfortably was something I never knew I needed to hear lol Both such memorable solos that I think most guitarists would definitely be able to hum, or hum too (be hummed too 😂) It fits so well with the chord changes, timing, embellishments etc Awesome stuff Oh yeah I liked them the other way too 😂
I have a strong emotional attachment to fade to black. I attempted suicide to it blaring loud. My belt noose broke right at the solo and this switch legit made me cry. It made it more powerful. Beautiful beautiful work
Fade to black solo over comfortably numb works better than the other way around . What Id like to hear switched is The eagles Hotel California solo with a very similar dire straits one , just cant remember which one .
Very funny, the Comfortably Numb solo over the Fade To Black rhythm made me smile a lot, some less the other one because hear it phrygian is kinda wierd, but the most of parts work as well (that ones that don't work is not beacause of you, is because of Kirk 😂)! Great job, mate 🤘
When the high bend from the comfortably numb solo hits, it pulls the whole thing together (and we know we're all waiting for that sweet bend anyway). I prefer Gilmour's musicality to Hammet's arpeggios when compared like this.
Just proves that Comfortably Numb Solo is not the number one solos of all time just because of the Solo itself. The whole band complimented the solo with their instruments soooo well.
As my teacher once said "as long as it's in Key, anything sounds Amazing over the Comfortably Numb backing track"
Yeah, B blues. Pretty good fun.
I'm just going to leave this here ruclips.net/video/Jj7pDNDuoJ0/видео.html

comfortably numb with fade to black's solo works surprisingly well
Probably same key and bpm
cuz of the same key very little changes are made to fit it in
I've noticed that faster solos like Fade To Black or Tornado Of Souls in both cases worked pretty well with Comfortably Numb and Hotel California than the viceversa
Both is in b minor
It does somewhat highlight some of kirk's questionable note choices though.
I think Fade To Black solo is probably one of the best ever written, it's so emotive, but perhaps that's just the entire song.
I agree completely with you. The song got me, and is still helping me through some dark times, it’s truly a masterpiece and ride the lightnings finest
The harmonies of musical genius Cliff Burton
Absolutly, I love it, more and more each time I see it live
Wasn't the solo improvised?
One of the best easily
Comfortably Numb with Fade To Black's solo is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard
I agree

Comfortably Numb with Comfortably numb is better
STOP THE CAP
I think the other one was better - Fade 2 Bkack with the Numb solo
It sounds so good, i think than Crazy Train solo can go well with Rainbow In The Dark
That would be incredible

Yeah, he has a bunch of really nice melodic, calmer solos. Shame how most of his playing is sloppy pentatonic noodling while slamming on the wah -,-

Comfortably numb solo in any style and any solo in Comfortably numb style would always sound simply beautiful.
It must be incredibly difficult to play a different solo over a very familiar backing track! Very nicely done!
Yeah no doubt, I'd definitely keep accidentally veering back into the original song
I assume he just played it to the original track each and then edited on into the other.
Seriously, it’s hard to just free style your own stuff with such a familiar track in the background and not revert back to the original, much less try to keep with an entirely different known song. Great job!!!
This is so surreal, because the solo outro to FTB ALWAYS made me think of comfortably numb, and now I discover that it wasn't just me
Please keep doing these man! Such unlikely Combos that sound awesome when done right!
Stevie T. has also done the Comfortably Numb solo on Fade to black few years back.

I love Kirks „ Fade to black“ Solo
Nice switch, interesting to hear Fade to Black with a bluesy and mellow solo, and Comfortably Numb with a more intense and shreddy solo. I like the contrasts
Imagine Kirk Hammett just saying while explaining how to do the solo to Fade To Black, "You just bend the string right here. Feel the tension..."

Cool demonstration! I think the Fade to Black solo worked much better in Comfortably Numb than vice versa.
Why did you have to put two songs of incredibly significant meaning and somehow put them together? I love it!
Absolutely love this series bro, seeing these solos at different tempos and how well they work is fucking mind blowing. Please do more!
Please switch the solos from Nothing Else Matters and Wrong Side Of Heaven, would sounds gourgeous
