It's recommended to save at least 15% of your income in a 401k. You can use online calculators to estimate how much you should save based on your age and income. Saving at least 15% of your income in a 401(k) can help ensure that you have enough money to retire comfortably. By saving this much, you can take advantage of compound interest and potentially grow your retirement savings over time.

If she spent $50 a day for 30 days that is $1500. With a $2200 in rent she is at $3,700. After car payment she should have almost $400. So unless she buys a lot of random things like clothes and make up, she should be able to save a couple hundred a month. Ultimately, though, the eating out is ridiculous! Our large family doesn't spend that much a month on groceries. Maybe she never went camping, but plenty of foods don't require ovens. She could go to Goodwill or Salvation Army to pick up a hot plate and she would almost have a typical kitchen.

People on here commenting that she needs to “apologize” to her parents are making some big assumptions!!! My biggest problem throughout my entire life was coming from abusive parents. Both had serious mental issues. The results for me have been low income and two bad marriages. How often I have longed for support-like Dave said-someone to put their arms around me and say they have my back-but that’s an impossibility. Thank God, my second husband was a saver. But I’d give my right arm to have a sane, loving, stable family! 😢.

@totit_t1445 You don't have to be religious to be social anymore, thankfully. We aren't in the dark ages anymore. Plastic debit cards dont say "in god we trust". And you do t have to be religious to help other people who are in need either. I have met some very disgraceful Christians over my lifetime. A person is either a good or a bad person regardless of their beliefs.

Sometimes when you are caught up in life you can't see the forest for the trees.. TV dinners work along with a cooler and some freezer bags. Buy TV dinners, put in freezer bags so they don't get wet most today are enclosed in cardboard, put in cooler with ice, pull out a tv dinner and save some money. Is it the healthiest option? No but short term it saves money. A loaf of bread and peanut butter and jelly makes a good breakfast or lunch on the go option. Fast food is crazy high anymore. Also instant coffee and hot water boom you have your caffeine kick. When we went on vacations a long time ago they didn't have coffee pots in the hotel rooms I used hot water from the tap to make my instant coffee. Later when we traveled I brought my own plug in percolator to make my coffee in the hotel room, put it in a thermos and on to our next distination. Anna In Ohio
