Recessions are part of the economic cycle, all you can do is make sure you're prepared and plan accordingly. I graduated into a recession (2009). My 1st job after college was aerial acrobat on cruise ships. Today I'm a VP at a global company, own 3 rental properties, invest in stocks and biz, built my own business, and have my net worth increase by $500k in the last 4 years.

Here is a marriage tip for husbands (and wives) out there. Put trust in your spouse’s capabilities rather than point fingers. My husband was very very clever about getting me on board about our finances together. I was not so interested before and was spending more than I should on random stuff. One day he asked me if I wanna be our family finance manager. He challenged me to come up with an investment plan for the entirety of what we saved up in our savings account, to make careful decision on balancing the risk and return and try to make the best out of what we have together. That trust he gave really motivated me to start learning about investing, about budgeting and retirement planning. We now learn together, share and discuss strategies and knowledge I learned with him and it has improved our relationship so much on top of having greater financial situations. Marriage is a two ppl thing, we are in the same boat riding waves.

Than you are in 5% of the woman who want to work in the marriage.
95% see their husband as money machine and in the moment he starts slowing down(due to health or age) or gets laid off, they jump to another opportunity…of course their excuses are he is not paying attention to me and crap like that, but we know the truth…that he is under the stress to provide…so in the moment he provides less…she brings the excuse of his attention,or something this caller’s spoil wife who probably is badmouthing him now.
There is no wonder that divorces peak during recessions or the pandemic..and 80% of divorces are initiated by wives.

Its worse here, our economy is like a flailing fish, fighting for its life. The normal state of the U.S. economy is actually very bad. Because of this it goes into convulsive spasms fighting to grow any way it can out of desperation. Tricks, gimmicks, rule changes try to stimulate the economy and prevent it from falling but they only bring temporary relief to people since, when you factor in inflation we are declining.

Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Like Warren Buffet said, dividends are only good if the business you’re investing into can’t make good use of that capital. So if you’re trying to invest into businesses with actual growth, looking at dividends is a waste of time. Why are you investing into a company if they’re returning capital to you because they think you can make better use if it than they can. It’s not much different from bond investing. The way I see it if you have a $1 million at some point, that’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between 50k-70k in dividend income...

When the husband mentioned that his wife had no worries about money I felt his pain. She's like "WE make plenty of money so why are you worried?" As the sole provider, it's natural to look at your finances differently than those being supported. They definitely need a budget and HE needs to lead the conversation. Not dictate but LEAD!

Finally a man has said it! My husband treated me like a teenager for 20 years where he wanted me to be a homemaker so he could make all of the financial decisions and I just stay quiet. Just divorced recently due to that crazy reason. I never had a voice on our finances. I was willing to work but was discouraged. Once I stood up and said "I'm going to work and contribute", everything fell apart..it's called control.

Dear Sierra, its called the traditional roles of male and female. My Mom had to work the night shift because money was short, I was raised by my grandparents. My wife is glad and thankful she can stay at home in a big house I provide and take care of the kids. She doesnt wanna know about no finances, why would she.
You did that guy a favor by leaving him, hopefully you guys didnt have kids, I wouldn't want mine to be raised by a "strong indepentend woman" like yourself.
Go ahead an pursue your Career in whatever you want to do, I can promise you, in 30 years time, your now ex-husband's house will be filled with Kids and Grandkids that love Grandmas cooking. A house full of family and love, whilst you'll find yourself in your 60s lonely and unfullfilled.
If your aiming for a stay at home dad who can't even change a tire, go for it, I just hope that you clean at least 100k a year.
I swear to you, you hit the dream, a guy willing to take finacially care of you, the ability the raise your own kids, not worrying about a career and it's stresses, you WILL regret this for a lifetime.

I just supplied an answer to someone that wanted to take on a second mortgage
    My Answer: no..No...NO
Cust expenses and Payoff the first mortgage and
then when you are 100% debt-free then look at the advantages of picking up another mortgage
    BUT
Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should ANYONE carry 2 mortgages..that is a financial death sentence!
