Bob Seger is responsible for a huge chunk of the soundtrack of my life. Even though he is in the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame, sold millions of records and is loved by millions I still feel he is underappreciated and underrated.
Well said.
I'm right there with you Jim! Soundtrack of my youth and he's still under rated. I feel he's so much better than Springsteen!
I couldn’t agree more!
agree.
Can never go wrong with Bob Seger
so very very true
Bob Seger is one of the greatest story tellers in the history of Rock n Roll. His songs are movie scripts.
He is one of those artist that you can really feel their soul. One of the greatest voices as well
Totally agree Di. 👍🙃
This is an anthem for us old bikers, love it. Thanks Harri
My all time favorite Bob Seger song. Love ANYTHING by Bob but this is special. Thanks for your reaction to Bob. He has soooo many great hits. Hollywood Nights , We,ve Got Tonight, Like A Rock are just a few of his great songs.
My all-time favorite, as well.✌❤
By far the best song of his in my opinion. Great great song. Very powerful
What a great song and another great reaction. Young men in the 1970's would dream about crossing the Mackinaw Bridge on a bike with a girl and heading out across the Northern Plains where the roads are long and straight for 1000 miles looking for a new outlook on life. It is such a powerful song that takes an older guy back to the days when anything seemed possible. Thanks for the memory.
Thanks for the story. 👍✌️🇨🇦
Love this song so so much! Great reaction!
Harri, not a one night stand. Escaping monotony to Freedom.
My favorite Bob Seger song, the first thing i listen to in the car. I never want the song or the drive to end.
One of my favorite songs ever. The instrumentals in this song are flawless.
"Next time (next life) we'll get it right"...my favorite lyrics in any song ever!
Harri, Bob Seger was often referred to as the poor man’s version of Springsteen. However, one of his big fans, a guy by the name of Bob Dylan, called Springsteen the rich man’s version of Bob Seger. I liked that.😊
Me too!
Bob Dylan.
Good songwriter.
Awful performer with lousy voice.
No comparison for me, Bob over Bruce any day!
Seger is better
I agree, the movie Mask was originally supposed to be soundtracked with only Springsteen and I have the Springsteen version and it’s not the same movie at all. I’d trade for the Bob Seger version any day!!!!
I love all of Bob`s songs, but this one always make me feel good all over.Anything Bob has done in his career has been outstanding.
Love Bob and his band. He puts on a great concert .you should have watched the video that shows him and his band performing this
I love it. Many of Bob Seger's songs are about looking back and being nostalgic for another time (Old Time Rock&Roll, Like a Rock, Night Moves etc.) , but this one is in the present and it's better for it. And if they went from Michigan, across the plains to the Rockies there was plenty of time for a little lovin'.
Bob Seger has lots of songs about “romantic love” but this isn’t one of them. This is purely about shaking the dust off your soul and finding freedom. Thank you so much for this reaction.
My very favorite Sefer song!! I love this!!
agree
Yesses finally! This is my favorite song of his ✌️
Just asking, but are you any kin to Big Red and Thor Hiney, of the Hiney Winery?
@@jamestaylor2920 no lol I'm a Red Head with psoriasis 😂😂😂✌️
@@itchyandred4131 I once knew a redheaded lady with psoriasis just outside of Laurel Maryland circa 1999. She was an amazing person.
There are a few of us around that remember the radio ads for the Hiney Winery. Your nom de plume triggered a distant memory. On behalf of Uncle Harry, Ophelia, Big Red, and Thor Hiney I wish for you a peaceful night and an itch free tomorrow.
@@jamestaylor2920 I've never heard of that but maybe it's the area you're in, I'm in northern California and I can't recall a place called that ✌️
My favorite Seger is Pete...this Land is Your Land....time to save the planet...
Uncle Bob doesn't have a bad song ❤️
Bob Seager has such a powerful raspy voice that captures your attention and leads you on a magic ride. Since Ramblin Gamblin Man he has produced many wonderful songs.
Night Moves
Against the Wind
Betty Lou's Getting Out To Night
Like A Rock
We Got Tonight
A timeless and incredible storyteller. Thanks Craig and Harri. Great reaction Harri. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
IMO, this is Segers best song ever.
Thanks for reacting to my favourite Bob Seger song!
Mackinaw City (correct sp) is the city at the northern tip of the lower peninsula of Michigan (Seger's home state) . It is at the southern end of the massive Mackinac Bridge which leads to the wilderness of the Upper Peninsula. If you go on for 12 hours out of Mackinaw City, you're probably in Montana or Wyoming, northern Canada, or you could be in Kentucky.
Bob said that he ended up in Rochester, MN. To have his beer. Almost froze coming across northeastern Minnesota at night.
Bob never got cheap with his lyrics, he was smooth as butter with his storytelling. One of my favorite performances u can find on RUclips is live from ‘78, a rollicking fun “Still the Same”. Bob was so young, he so owned that stage, and he smiled throughout his gig like he was the happiest young man on earth, it’s priceless, hope you can check it out. Bob’s library is vast and impeccable, what a booming big voice he had.
I'll never forget that joyous smile!
Bob's great.
Bob did sing the best "one night stand" song ever in We've Got Tonight.
Good choice! Like these guys said, bob has great music. It's relatable to everyday folks- even though he's a big time singer. Love his storytelling, his voice, the band- all of it! Thanks!
This song is not just for bikers, it’s a huge song for anybody on a road trip, and my FIL was a long haul trucker and he said all of Bob Segar is a must for the road trips.
I just love Bob Seger and feel very fortunate to have been able to see his live show in the early 80’s. What a talent! “Still the Same” is one of my favorites. Thanks , Craig, for your request. And thanks to Harri for another wonderful reaction. 🌺✌️
Every time I hear this song, I long for my Harley and driving across the country. I got to see Seger back in the 70s, oddly opening for KISS lol
You just can't go wrong with Seger!
Harri you have to listen to Shame on the Moon. It's a slower song but the lyrics and his voice on this song are just incredible.
If you’ve ever rode motorcycles, this song captures what it’s really about! Great song glad to see you reacting to it.
This is poetry set to music, Every time I hear this song ,I can See what he is singing about .A real treat for the ears!
I’d like this played at my funeral. It has a sweeping sense of freedom of the soul.
One of the Best songs ever written man
Seger reached regional success in Detroit in 1968-69 but made little headway nationally until Beautiful Loser in 1975 and Live Bullet in 1976.
Great driving songs from Mr Bob Seeger…every song a classic, thank you Harri!! Would LOVE to see you react to Bob Live!
My favorite Bob Seger song and that says alot. I love the man and music
Same. Must be a Kevin thing😉
BEFORE OR AFTERRR THE DEED, I LOVE IT!!! 😊
Hey Harri, love Bob Seger and, his Silver Bullet Band! My fav of his is: TURN THE PAGE, he has so many though! He was very much loved.
Majestic.
I love Seger! Great request Stephen (sp ?) Great analysis Harri!
This is one of the most underrated songs ever written
The piano is the star here
Check out You'll Accompany Me or Fire Down Below..... Bob Seger rocks!!
Don't get no better then old uncle Bob !
The bike thing you should try it one day it's liberating
Don't know why the person that made that music video kept putting up the cover for "Against The Wind". "Roll Me Away" was the first song on side 2 of "The Distance" album, which had much more appropriate artwork in relation to this song. It shows Seger in a silhoutte profile staring out at the ocean at sunset. Truly an incredible picture.
love this tune, the man was a true romantic imo
It's definitely about being comfortable in your own skin and also in a relationship
Bob is a one of a kind artist. Been a fan since 1968 when I was 10 growing up in Michigan, basically in his back yard.
Bob Seger is absolutely 💯 kickass, there's not one song of his I don't like 🇦🇺
Thanks Harri. Great reaction mate 🙂
A super great motorcycle riding song...
Seger is a poet. I swear nobody can tell a story like he can. Nobody.
So, so many great tunes from this Michigan rocker. Now we have a touch of almost gospelesque infused melody. So uplifting.
This song was the official song of Pilsbury dinner rolls.
He's so awesome. I have been to Mackinaw City. It's at the tippy top of Michigan's lower peninsula. As a Detroit native, he mentions Michigan or cities in Michigan in several of his songs. May I suggest a favorite song of mine of his for you, FAMOUS FINAL SCENE.
Craig Aust, you are on a literal roll. Great pick my Bestie!!!👌👍✌😉
Nice one Craig! I have"you'll accompany me" as on of my future requests. Have you seen his traveling man beautiful loser reaction. That was one of my first requests.
Thanks!
Used in the movie Mask, it was perfect for the movie
That's the reason why this song makes me cry.
I totally agree
Ain't Got No Money by Bob Seger! Gotta Dig this. Finally Feeling Free! 69 Charger R T! Road Trip! Hello Lowell Canyon LA. Detroit Talking 🇺🇸🍷🛣️
Perfect name for riding….
Thank you for reacting to this great song.
Thanks for doing Seger, love his Rockin' ones like "Betty Lou's getting out tonight", "Katmandu". Was lucky enough to see him in mid 1960's play the local bowling alley bars , outdoor summer concerts and ski resort. Mostly his band was Last Herd at the time. Favorite slow one is "We got tonight"
Check out his reaction to traveling man, and beautiful loser in one video
I seem to remember this from the Cher movie "Mask" if i'm not mistaken, played at the end. He also has a great song "The fire inside" from 1991's album of the same name
I saw this tour back in the earlier 80's! Exactly like the album only better cuz it was live! The crowd was lit also - what a great performance!
Grew up in the Detroit area. Saw him in concert in the 70’s and the 80’s. But my favorite music from him was the 60’s. Heavy Music. Lucifer.
❤
Love this one. It’s the song Bruce Springsteen wishes he’d written. Sounds so much like him! Edit: you hadn’t yet said that when I wrote this comment, Harri. Great minds think alike 😁
Great song! The first time I've heard this one. It seems to be like an amalgamation of all his music.
One of my favorite Bob Seger songs. "Down on Mainstreet" is my absolute fave.
Memories of an easier time. ❤️
12 hours outside of Mackinac city! So good. The fudge is amazing there too
You're definitely right about Springsteen - like there was some sort of cross-pollination happening.
By this time in Seger's career, American biker's clubs had become a very large segment of more mature Seger fans connecting to his work, and he had accumulated numerous singer-songwriter awards and accolades. Clearly, he's trying to capture whatever that existential human experience is about the "biker vibe" ...like it's akin to the romanticized lone cowboy-outlaw riding a horse.
In fact, seems to me that entire album "Against The Wind" was "biker inspired" and is a kind of nod to the biker-outlaw zeitgeist of the 80s translated into a progressive-rock montage.
Springsteen don't have nothing on Bob Seger. Seger Detroit Grit. Blue collar! The Best! Detroit talking 🇺🇸💪🏁🍷
I like you, and I love Bob Seger, please never compare him to Springsteen, Springsteen ain't a pimple on Bob Segers a$$.
Love Bob Seger, was lucky enough to see him 3 times, always put on one heck of a show and a lot of his songs have a special place in my heart when I hear them.. Memories 🎸
Definitely were similarities between the two artists you could hear in this song.
Growing up we all had the Night Moves album
Please react to Like a Rock. It was a later chapter to Night Moves. ❤️
This is my favorite Seger song...saw him twice in 1983 and 1986. Two of the best shows ever! He sounds just as good in person but it's better because it's live!
Riding pillion down the M6 with a guitar under my arm. I asked him to go slower than he usually does, which he did but that but we still cruised past the closed window four wheelers.
One of the most underrated artists of all time. Great live.
Bob is hands down one of the best concerts I ever saw! Love this man's music!
Seger was and is the classiest of rock musicians , one of the soundtracks of our lives. Story teller extraodinaire
Common to all of Bob's songs; they're a story of something that you might have lived or know that you might yet live!
This is my personal "Anthem"... I absolutely identify with this song... It makes me cry.
My dad first turned me on to Bob Seger when I was a child, I think about 4 or 5 years old. I've been a fan almost my whole life, I can't think of a single song of his that I don't like. I finally got to see him live a few years ago, he was fantastic!
Listen to "2 + 2" by Bob Seger.
Bob Seger >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Springsteen
This view coming from a guy from both the 70's and 80's generation.
Springsteen wanted to "preach" TO us. (blech)
Seger wanted to sing WITH us.
*Huge* difference.
It is very reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen; the E Street Band's Roy Bittan plays his trademark piano riffs on this song.
for those who dont ride you cant explain...for those who do know explanation needed
Harri is so right. Seger was a cad in his early days. Nevertheless, with that voice, those vocals, that rock 'n' roll style, that band, those images... that hair, that body, those tight football jerseys, those designer jeans... I mean , you just had to ignore the nitty gritty of the lyrics and just listen to the themes... and mostly the music, and maybe ignore the lyrics. 🤣✌💅😄
can you do a reaction to Let It Rock by Bob Seger it came off his 1972 album Smokin' O.P.' s
You are the man , I suggested this to several other reactor's . I am glad you are doing it , definitely my favorite Seger song.
Great pick Craig. Love Bob Seger. My Canadian cousin's husband asked me this one time: He said "do you know who I think is overrated? I said who. He said " Bob Seger" I looked him in the eye and said you are insane Darren. 🤪
Never listened to any musical advice from him after that statement.
Fantastic reaction 🤴 Harri. 👍🙃🕊️🇺🇦🇺🇸🇨🇦🇬🇧🔥😉💂🤴
Thanks!
That Canadian must have been deaf. Lol
👍✌️🇨🇦
@@marybaillie8907 Kind of what I was thinking. 🙃👍🇨🇦
@@craigaust3306 Terrific selection, Craig!
@@Cosmo-Kramer Thanks!
Really great pick, Craig. Bob Seeger is one of my favorite rockers with a truly distinctive voice.
Gosh this song makes me want to just take off driving with a wad of cash and just go until I run out of money.
