as great and popular as bob is i believe he is still one of the most underrated singer songwriters there is
i watch alot of music video channels and it boggles my mind how little play he gets. i appreciate your appreciation for talent
He's a little like Ed Harris amongst actors-- he's got a lot of respect from collegues but not as much popular recognition. Now that his material's being discovered by another new generation, I hope he starts getting popular again.
darastarscream Ed Harris is a great actor. Just like Brian Dennehy, not as much recognition as they deserved.
Ed is still with us, but Brian recently passed.
Still don't understand why he's one of rocks best kept secrets when he appeals to more than just one ganre(?). Uncle Bob forever!!!!
@@frankmerris8821 he should have had at least twice as much recognition. Hes great grew up with bob seger loving parents. Went to his concert for the first time 47 years ago while I was still in the womb
It makes me so happy to see people discovering the brilliance of Bob Seger's masterful songwriting and vocals!
Came to say just that. 😀
Bob Seger is, without a doubt, one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time. Unfortunately I believe that he has been overlooked and underrated for many, many years. If you weren't a boy band or churning out some pop garbage you were never really given your dues. His songs are classics and timeless in every sense!
Andrew Stolpman I agree. He is to me one of the greats.
I agree.
He was up against Springsteen his whole career. It's a shame he was overlooked by many.
I grew up in Detroit during the 70's with my parents listening to Bob Seger. Alot of memorable moments in my life has a Bob Seger song related to it.
@@maryblack2622 he and his music are literally timeless! Such a huge talent!
He sings about the common man...and that is why we love him...
You won't find a bad song by him. They all are sung with passion. You want to experience the passion Bob puts in, watch his cover of Little Drummer Boy 1998. Will give ya chills.
best version of little drummer boy there is . the soul and passion he sings that is unmatched
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. I never even liked that song before I heard his version, now it's my favourite Christmas song.
@@frankmerris8821 right on. I love that. Play that every xmas and then some. Lol
@@kdpflush i was hopin i wasn't gonna get shit for saying but i didn't care, it's my fav. That song goes on repeat a few times when I listen to it. But glad I'm not the only one too
@@lowrider4266 me too played it today since it snowed a little in pa this morning lol
Played at my step dad's funeral. Died trucking and loved this song.
To an American.... hearing him sing about the great devide and his choice of weather to go east or west.... and then seeing the hawk soar is a symbol of freedom and independence.
I'm loving your reactions! Thank you!
Today's music just doesn't come close to how great this is.
Today's music ain't got the same soul!
Great reaction!!
My son loved this song when he was two (still does). I used to pick him up every weekend at his mother's house. He would climb up into my truck and the first thing he would say was "roll me away, dad". He didn't even say hi. When he was three, I took him to see Bob in concert in Jan 1996. Bob opened with this song, and our fate was sealed. We have seen every Seger tour since. My son lives in Philadelphia now and has grown up to be a singer/songwriter himself. The only bummer is that Bob played his last show in Philadelphia this past Nov 1st. I was ready to drop $8 - 10 thousand dollars to go front row for that last show, but my son was on tour in Texas and couldn't make it. He wanted me to go anyway, but it just didn't seem right.
Took my then 13 yr old son to his first concert ever 11/21/18. We love Seger. That was the kick-off show for Bob's farewell tour. We caught him again the following June. Great Dad-Son bonding. BTW, I also got to meet Bob briefly for a photo after a show in '96. What a gentle soul behind the big voice. A true, humble gentleman.
When you listen to Bob Seger you feel him in your chest....you feel like you are part of the story he is telling. He is a tremendous singer/song writer/preformer.......love love love him.
ya thats why hes in the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of my favourite Seger songs. I think I first heard it in the film Mask. This song always makes me stronger somehow. I think it was because I was in my late teens when I first heard it. It still gives me goosebumps.
Fantastique Publishing perfect movie......in every way...
As a young Michigander woman, feeling trapped, I often wish Bob had picked me up on his bike!
I first heard it in the movie mask also, I can’t believe this song never made the radio!
This song is just a masterpiece.gives me chills every time I hear it💯
Against the Wind should probably be next, but you can't go wrong with Bob Seger... Still the Same, We've got Tonight, Katmandu... The list goes on and on my friend
Wow is right. Great song about freedom and a good Harley.. my younger days in California.. gotta love Bob Sefer.
I gave my albums of his and the eagles to my granddaughter. She's 14 and an old soul.
A true American song.. '' I could go east, or I could go west. It was up to me to decide''
The man can paint a picture and tell a story as well as anybody in rock
Bob Seger is one of those masters. You like the melody but the words just slay you. The world was such a mess back then we needed the Bob's and the Steve Perry's to get us through
Bob Seger....legendary
Bob Seger Kennedy Center Honors.I think it's about time.
Ya know, all of Seger's songs were great for "car" listening. Back in those days, you could blast great music like this without too much hassle, and that's what we did, put in the cassette and just crank Bob Seger...and let your SPIRIT SOAR!!
I was lucky to see him play at my High School before he made it big and he was freaking amazing!!
Bob never had a bad song, some are just better than others.
He is just everything Great about AMERICA. He is awesome!!!
That's the Bob Segar power. Your on that bike with him. So free.
What a voice.
Forgot how great that song was...
He’s a bad ass hero, nothin less
Like A Rock Little Drummer Boy You’ll Accomp’ny Me
Not sure there are many story tellers in music better than Seger. He truly is an American treasure.
I am the same age as Bob Seger and have heard almost every one of his recordings, but only recently have begun watching reaction videos of his music. This video just blows me away! I watched twice & it still plays in my head, wow, do I want to get out on the road again, bike or car - who cares! If you see a little ol' lady whiz by on a '74 black Triumph, look out!
You go girl! I'm impressed. Do yourself a favor and watch this video of Roll Me Away. All the badass females on their bikes. It's so cool. Bob Seger - Roll Me Away by Elaine8492
@@emmef7970 Yess! Thanks!
Dude, review's Seger's first hit, Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, with a yound Glen Fry on background vocals. It's a killer from 1969.
This man is a treasure
AND the motorcycle he is riding in the video is a Honda V65 Magna it came out in 1983 and was the fastest production motorcycle in the world, I have one and I love it, Y'all check out the commercial back in 83 😜
Makes me laugh seeing the comments here that he was underrated or a best kept secret. The commenters must be in their twenties. The guy was at the top of the charts for decades and he’s in the rock hall.
I think he's underrated in the sense that when people think back and name great singer/songwriters of the 70s/80s, his name doesn't come up as often as it should.
There's a live version of this, around '77, shows his energy and his voice. One of the GREATEST!
The ultimate motorcycle / freedom song . Bob NAILED it !!! All about the feeling / emotion on a powerful motorcycle with the road stretching out in front of you !!! If ever there was a song that is a movie in itself , this is it ! Playing it out on the road should come with a public health warning , because by the end of it you'l find you are going 100mph : )
Everyone loves Bob .
Bob is obviously a huge talent and left his mark in music history. But what about the incredible "Silver Bullet Band" that makes Bob's lyrics come to life!
"I can just imagine driving with that song on."
Fortunately I don't have to imagine. ;^)
Either do I now since I have it on my playlist in the car.
Maybe you need to be from the upper Midwest for it to mean anything, but the specificity of his reference to Mackinaw City (a real place) always connects me to this song even more strongly. I blasted this song on a road trip to Idaho… perfection.
Welcome to the perfect music genre! You are one of the few who will actually appreciate what Seger has done, is doing and keeps rolling on. Try “Lucifer” amazing song and he must’ve been barely 18 years old but he still crushed it!
My favorite Bob Sefer song!!
I'm from Detroit and I grew up with Bob Seger. He has so many great songs. Yo gotta listen to Marylou, Get Out of Denver, Black Knight. Or just about any of his songs. You can't go wrong.
A wise woman once told me "do lots of crazy , bold, fun stuff when you're young so you have great memories that make this 73 yr old smile or laugh"
Pumps me up whenever I hear Bob
I never tire of hearing that song!
My favorite Seger song!! And one of my all-time fave songs period! **every time** I hear it, it moves my soul!!
I’ve loved this Song for 20 years and have played it dozens and dozens of times.
What a fantastic artist, voice and song!
If I listened to this song on the way to work might not get there ♥️
Oh here's that guy Bob Seger you never heard of 😉 Sorry I can't let it go mate because Bob & The Silver Bullet Band is one of my favorite groups ! 😎🎙 ( The list of hits is long............... )
Turn the page and old time rock n roll. He is the best story teller
More Bob!! - You'll Accomp'ny me and Katmandu!!!!!!
Love, love, love Bob Seeger and anything he sings.
The freedom of the road is so American. Most people have no idea what it’s like to ride this huge beautiful country we live in !
My favorite Seger song, miss the motorcycle days, a lot of fun, and the real feeling of freedom.
Bob is truly one of the greats...incredible song.
My absolute favorite Seger song, a lot of people don't know it. Great choice!
Yes. I lived it. crossing into Nevada on way to Vegas, my soul mate was standing up in a convertible screaming this at 95 mph past the Flying J truckstop exit. She had never heard of him before. She was 23, I was 40. It was magical.
I love how all his songs are stories.
He is now in his 70 ' s . Saw him in 2019 and he was just as awesome! Such a great Living Legend.
I AM SO HAPPY! Thank you for reviewing this! It is quintessential Seger. That bridge was a 5 mile long Mackinac Bridge between the Upper and Lower peninsula of Michigan I really am so happy that you enjoyed this!
@@ms.chuckfu1088 You are right. It's been a few years since I've crossed it, but it's still my favorite bridge.
@@ms.chuckfu1088 👍
The Mackinac Bridge is underrated, just like Bob Seger, I think because it's not near a major metropolitan area, but it's truly a stunning, beautiful bridge. I'd take it over the Golden Gate any day of the week, and twice on Sundays.
@@rudewalrus5636 I cant agree more. !
That song comes on when I'm driving and I look down and suddenly I'm in triple digits... ;-)
what a great singer,song writer.an american treasure/legend
So glad you are enjoying Bob Seger .... and there's still so much more to enjoy!!
By far my favorite Bob Seger song. Can't help but do about 100 mph listening to that one.
The line where is he says "staring out at the great divide" Makes me a little emotional inside. If you have never been to the great divide (continental divide) its is spectacular! To say I could go west I could go east is literally true which side of America do you want to see? We are so blessed to live here (for those of us who do) and we don't even recognize it most of the time!
Most of Bob's music makes me wonder if he was looking into my life when he wrote those songs?
The Freedom in Bob's songs...keep riding, keep believing...keep on going.
I grew up in Michigan. Bob Seger is a treasure. This may be the perfect road song. Defining freedom and personal choice. Next time, we’ll get it right. Go Blue.
That song is so great
You almost cried, I saw it. Not an unusual reaction to a Seger song, especially this one. For many years this was the opener to his concert. My own personal favorite.
I start every road trip with this song. Classic
That's a mover and a shaker...saw Bob 4 times in Toronto 86,96,2011,2019.. 👍👍👍
Listing to that while driving would get you a ticket for speeding, or full throttle on your bike! It’s how it effected me when I was younger!
I've never heard a bad song from Bob Seger, ever.
Horizontal bop
Making Thunderbirds.
12 hours outta mackinaw city stopped at a to have a brew.. love those lyrics.. try Lucifer.. it is from a very young Bob Seger and one of his very best
Whenever I would have a stressful day at work I would play this on the way home. I felt like I needed to just keep on driving!
Me, too. Everytime i go for a good drive, on a weekend or whatever, i either think of this song or i put it on. And never really want to reach a destination, just drive.
I don't know if you have heard Night Moves but it's worth a listen.
This time we'll get it right!!!
I’m with you my friend, his emotion makes it a great song.
The piano player on this wonderful song on the on the album is Roy Brittan from the E Street Band!!!!!!!
Bob Seger is my favorite. He can tell a story with such passion and skill. He is accompanied by such talented musicians. He enjoys acknowledging their individual talents with and without the band. His voice carries carries so much emotion. I'm glad he's doing a final tour. I think it finish before the virus. I had the privilege to view a small portion of one of the concerts. To me it was a bucket list event. The only thing better would've been to see them preform in person. Such a gift. Looking forward to the next one.
I have just moved and found my Bob Seger CD's. So between him and Avi Kaplan....all the feels are covered...I think.
So true
Wow, indeed! Joyful, defiant, yearning and triumphant. How I wish I could've seen him in concert.
YOU HAVE TO DO "THE FIRE INSIDE"!!!!
I never got to go to one but I've been told that back in the day his concerts we're amazing
Got to see him a few times & he never disappoints. Once in Cobo Arena in Detroit and then in Vancouver, BC. Been listening to him since '75!
@@timotc50 yeah been a fan of him since the 1st time I heard him ✌️♥️
If you’re still looking for more Bob Seger Check out the song Even Now, on the Distance album. 1982
❤️ 🇺🇸🏴 great song! Fam here in US since 1730….. I’ll pick you up for a ride when I visit the homeland 👍
To truly get that song you need to know the feeling of freedom you get riding a motorcycle on the open road.
spot on! I used to work midnights, listen to this song just before quitting time at 8a.m. and replay it in my head as I hopped on MY big two wheeler..... No radio on the bike just a big twin v thumpin' and that song in my head. Many times I didn't make it home for hours.
@@dbegley990
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think the same feeling of freedom can be found anywhere else that you feel riding a motorcycle. It's just different at least for me. Sailing comes close but the isolation makes if different.
He is not forgotten in Michigan, video starts out with crossing the Mackinaw Bridge, Bob would have been rockin a Harley, not a import.
Bob was inspired to write this song after a Harley cross country road trip. HOGs LOVE BOB!!!
Great great story teller.... Love this song
Heck yeah. Great song. Love Seger. Thanks.
Roadtrip across America on a Harley ! Yeah Howdy !
Bob Seger makes you feel good about being alive.
Gives me goosebumps every time.
Fantastic track. One of my favourites from Bob Segar. Along with Hollywood nights and Nightmoves. Real gritty street rock.
Roll me away is my favorite Bob Seger song.
He used this as his opening song on many tours. Check out American Storm and The Fire Inside. Also Obscure and one of his early songs 2 + 2=? One of the better anti-viet nam war songs from the perspective of what many young men of that time felt. Gritty music and lyrics make a powerful biting protest
I am a dedicated subscriber and have NEVER clicked on a video faster . This is a bikers anthem and the cause of ALOT of speeding tickets . Seager is the the greatest singe songwriter and performer of our time PERIOD
Was never a biker but I know how much he appreciates all the bikers out there. Great fan base for sure!
@@danoriordan8044 worst wreck I ever had that song was playing in my Scala Rider an on helmet radio system . Went off a cliff at Deals Gap and walked away but totaled my Yamaha R1
