This is such a brilliantly concise overview. You took some amazing shots and your cinematography is otherworldly. I'm a complete novice and newbie to photography, I've never even owned a camera that wasn't also a cellphone lol, but videos like this gives me so much enjoyment and excitement. I plan to take up photography as a hobby this year so videos like this really gives me that motivation to try. Thank you so much for this and im definitely subscribing!
Great video, watched all the way through! I love how the general consensus is that this camera feels like a point and shoot that doesn’t get in the way. Sometimes when im shooting with my larger cameras it can almost feel like a burden. This is definitely a camera I can see myself using for vlogs/personal projects, or street photography. Thanks for the video!!
Amazing video and overall review. The X100VI is going to be my first camera ever and I am really excited. I'm more of a "capture the moment" type of person and I find joy in capturing those. Would love to see more of your contents, Jasmine!
Wow! So good you got invited!! Tho not surprised, although you are a relatively small channel, you cut through the crap & I love what you produce. No smoke or sunshine, but clear and well informed opinion. And I love your enthusiasm and integrity! New subscriber ☑️ PS just got my x100vi before a round the world trip and it’s perfect. Keep up the great work! Joe from Dundee, Scotland
Really nice! Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts :) Just got my x100vi recently and I'm loving it already! What type of film simulations or custom recipes did you use?
@JQmadeit I was there in 2021 for 3 weeks and think about it often. It also pisses me off how dirty our cities are. It doesn't have to be that way. I also wanted to add, thanks for not rushing out a video once the embargo was lifted. The time and effort you putting into your work makes a difference. And now I'll just sit back and wait for my pre-ordered X100VI to arrive...in a month or year from now.
Great video! I’m really interested in X100VI for documenting daily life not just in photos, but in short videos as well. Did you notice if it also has the setting to override shutter speed and other settings from top plate wheels when using movie mode?
Great video - as they say the proof is in the pudding and your photos really highlight how this camera can capture that filmic 'memory' look. I've got the X100V and sadly I can't afford this as I'm using my money for a huge road-trip instead, but man-oh-man do would I really like the look of those Fujifilm Reala and Nostalgia Negative simulations. That's what I truly crave, even above the megapixel boost and the IBIS. Anyway, you really got to the heart of the camera with this one, so well done! Random photo book recommendation: Sheron Rupp's 'Taken From Memory'. Eighties film photographer. I think you'd really like her work.
Thank you for the rec . I absolutely love photo books esp from past decades. My collection is pretty much that style! I will definitely be checking this out
I liked your review - more honest than most - I looked at the X100 series quite a while back but I guess the biggest draw back were was the use of only 3 focal lengths. I don'y care about video. I went with the X-Pro 2. I kind of hope that some time in the near future that Fujifilm comes out with the X-Pro 4 with IBIS. I really like the view finder.
THANK YOU 🙏🏻 We are all in desperate need of fresh creators, especially with a professional background like you. I can’t stand these established channel popping out more or less the same exact video at the same time. I guess it’s hard to stay authentic and different when you get big with everyone copying your stile. Still wish you best of luck for your channel 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
IBIS is a nice add. I would have preferred improved AF than 40 MP, since 35 isn't that wide to really take advantage of the crop ability. The Q makes a bit more sense in that regard. Still no flip up selfie screen like the X70 to take vacation family selfies either, which is a shame. It would be nice to be in the photos sometimes. 😂
They did actually improve autofocus. I forgot to hit on that point which is my mistake haha. They added subject detection features and better face tracking from the newer x trans 5 sensor!
Would you say the video is good enough for personal projects? Im a creator/videographer by trade, but I want a travel and EDC camera that can do everything when I don’t want to carry my larger bodies and lenses. My thought is with the 10 bit 422, 4k60 (Albeit small crop), flog, built in ND and IBIS means it could work as a personal travel video camera for storytelling, but still be way 60% photo, 40% video. With the new 40 mp sensor, you effectively have 35/50/70 mm equivalent focal lengths with digital crop that I believe also works in video. I pre ordered but haven’t seen anyone really cover the video quality in detail.
Yeah I don’t think it’s right to say it’s not a professional video machine here. It’s basically an xt5 with a built in ND and fixed 23mm lens. The video would be indistinguishable from any other Fuji video camera. Even has flog 2 so in a lot of ways it will give you better video than xt3/xt4/xs10 anyway. Esp. As it has some IBIS capability as well. I have even taken video with x100v and stabilised in resolve and it wasn’t that bad. The 6 will be very useable if you’re happy with the focal length. Only issue is battery life. So you will need a lot of spares. If anything the only issue with video is auto focussing on that lens. Not sure how good that will be with new focus engine. I’d probably keep aperture slower and manual so lens isn’t working too hard trying to track. But that was on the V. Maybe better on 6.
I used a custom recipe called Pacific Blues pretty much the entire time. If I did edit them I cooled them off a bit! But colors are as they come! Love how it pushes the reds and blues in the image which was perfect for Tokyo
Most of it was on the xs20. There were a handful of sneaky x100vi clips in there so if you couldn’t tell the difference then maybe that’s a great sell! But most of it was filmed on the XS20!
5:24 On fujis, to give you a few more stops in the highlights, try the dr400 extended dynamic range mode. The dr400 mode, in short, distributes the exposure more evenly thru the exposure of the images, removing the necessity of underexposing for highlights. It does this by requiring you to shoot at iso 640 or higher. This allows the camera to underexpose the hi lights of an image while boosting the mid tones and shadows…. basically what you eventually do in post if you underexposed your images. It does all of these calculations prior to the analog to digital conversion, so it works in RAW! If you actually consider all the features and compare it the cost of the original x100 and factor in inflation……this camera is actually cheaper than the first x100. So no it’s not expensive you’re getting a lot.
It’s so much packed into the tiniest camera so I really don’t get why people are complaining about the price I mean the thing has a built in ND! My very pricey other camera bodies don’t even have that
Great point. Even the older one's holding value shows how good it already was. We are in a golden era of digital cameras and that's why used prices are seeing a surge.
Thanks for your expertise and these great videos! You may already know about this but, next time you have the opportunity to fly to Tokyo, Singapore, or any other Asian countries; on long flights, try to fly on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, or any other that provides a cabin pressure/atmosphere equivalent to low flight altitude of 6-8k ft.
amazing camera. I just can't stand how crappy the new viewfinder switch and the button feel. gets slightly stuck when moving it left and then clicks when pushing it in the opposite direction. Shoddy quality compared to the V
great to see someone without a huge following be part of this. great video btw. hope you rock it
wwas just thinking the same!
Appreciate that. Yes I’m grateful they trusted to bring me on this!❤
Is that a read?

what a beautiful camera and beautiful video. wow. i wouldn't call myself a photographer by any means, but this camera makes me want to be one.
Great video, Jasmine! Thanks for sharing. Waiting for my pre-order is now even harder!
Could you share what settings or simulation did you use when you took your JPEGs? Amazing photos!
I used the Pacific Blues custom film simulation found on Fuji Weekly! I adjust my white balance to my liking for different scenarios.
Appreciated the honest review. Tokyo looked incredible!
Great content! From the video to the film to the photos, they’re all incredible!
Quickly becoming obsessed with your work!
one of the best reviews of x100vi out there. Thank you
I appreciate you watching!

I consider Tokyo the greatest city in the world. Thank you for sharing your epic adventure.
It’s my top city I’ve ever visited. I will be back again! I promised myself that

Anyone?
Love this, Jasmine! Really great shots and great vibes 👌
Loved the short film in the beginning.

sick video jasmine! great review!
Love the style of this vid!
Great video! what recipe were using for most of the photos?

Awesome color grading. I wish I can do the same. Any tips and recommendation to achieve that kind of color into photos and videos
Curious what are you filming on right now when your speking?

Great video. Is it correct that the X100V/VI has a crop in 1080P resolution video? (mine shows a 1.14x crop).
Finally. Somethin different. Go on, don't stop.
IBIS is a nice add. I would have preferred improved AF than 40 MP, since 35 isn't that wide to really take advantage of the crop ability. The Q makes a bit more sense in that regard. I’m in the same boat as you. I’m curious to what she’d say. I believe when you film in 4K it uses the entire sensor, 6k it does crop, though.

I can’t wait for mine !
Appreciate the honesty 💪🏾
great. ı have bought it in Turkey. are all these videos captured on x100vi?
omfg im so ready for this camera, great video Jasmine
Great video I can’t wait to get one
Cool camera. I’ll stick to the XT5 for my return to Tokyo in a couple months though
How long did the jet lag last? 😅Im about to go japan and was just wondering. Wish i saw this video one week sooner just bought i just bought a camera.
Thank you for making this video! What film recipes did you use for the photos you took in japan?
I used a custom recipe called Pacific Blues pretty much the entire time. If I did edit them I cooled them off a bit! But colors are as they come! Love how it pushes the reds and blues in the image which was perfect for Tokyo
@@JQmadeit I was just about to say! I love how the reds popped out! These photos are beautiful!
Pictures came out amaaaazing! Were all these photos you took shot in jpeg?
All jpegs no raws!
Who are the other creators? Nice vid!
Great review I’m now torn between this and the xt5 as a travel camera.
Good stuff!
Nice job 👏👏
Very cool video
I'd love for you to try the Ricoh GR 3 at some point.
Which film simulation mode did you use with the pictures you took in Tokyo?
One called Pacific Blues! I just tweaked the color temp on some of them when I saw fit! But it’s my favorite sim :)
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Where can we buy this in Japan!
Oooh neeeeeew channel - I have an X100f and Xpro2. The 6 is gonna kick ass
Jas! How much of the videos featured here were from the x100 vi? Thanks! x

Tartisans 7.5mm !!

Sad i the uk. We cannot get one i have been on the waist list for m this. Here hoping anyway.
nice
1:03 what anamorphic lens?
It has a fixed lens. The anamorphic look is probably a crop.
Holy shit what a video

This is so interesting; may I ask what difference does it make?
I bet most potential customers are coming from smartphones or no previous X100 cam (instead of x100V).
Do straight out of camera photos not come out as HEIF?
No JPEGS! You can set it to be diff file type though.

Nice video. Love it. Learned a lot without you specifically teaching. 🙂
AND you can't buy it. $5000 second hand in Japan. It's a joke.

thank you!
You should try Leica M11 + 35mm APO much much better experience than X100VI
Ok but how you going to compare a 10k camera to a 2k camera 🧐🧐
