Ironically, _Super Mario Kart_ wasn't planned to have a Rainbow Road. In its place earlier in development was a cut third variation of the Choco Island tracks
I was so glad to see you talk postively about Super Circuit. Most of the time I see it get dismissed just because it looks like Super Mario Kart, which is so unfair, 'cause Super Circuit controls wonderfully for me, and the tracks were very creative in a simple way. GBA Rainbow Road's music and jump ramps all around the track really bumps it up the list for me.
Oh yeah, 3DS Rainbow Road is now also out in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I think I'd put this version at #5, between N64 Rainbow Road (Wii U) and Wii Rainbow Road. I think the music is less majestic, which somewhat downgrades the atmosphere, but it's still amazing!
@AlbertBoris. My ranking: F-Tier(Bad; I don't like playing these at all): 12. N64 RR 11. SNES RR (GBA) C-Tier(OK; I wouldn't mind playing these if I had to): 10. SNES RR (OG) 09. WiiU RR B-Tier(actually good and quite fun to play on): 08. SNES RR (3DS) 07. DS RR 06. SNES RR (WiiU/NS) S-Tier(flawless; couldn't get enough of!): 05. N64 RR(WiiU/NS) 04. GCN RR 03. Wii RR(Wii+8DX BCP W6) 01. 3DS RR(3DS+8DX BCP W3) + GBA RR
Ok lol, I personally like the music just as much as the original and also I like how the road looks in the 8 deluxe version, the fact that it is mostly blue and looks like a river is really cool and really pretty, it’s like sailing on a magic river through space
Wonderful list! I really admire your bravery with putting GBA Rainbow Road high up there! It's my 2nd favorite after 3DS Rainbow Road, but I'm right there with you when you say it and the entirety of Super Circuit is vastly underrated. It's also the most skill-based one for the reasons you pointed out, that being the jump pads lining the majority of the track to incentivize high-risk, high-reward shortcuts. Because of its unique layout, features, and obstacles, I want GBA Rainbow Road to come back the most out of all Rainbow Roads. Imagine doing those shortcuts with a controller + in HD!
I like the looks of the Rainbow Road in Mario Kart 64 and also the music that plays on this track. But of course the track is too easy because of the rails everywhere. Originally the developers didn't even intend to place rails throughout the entire track, however there was a problem with the CPU drivers because they kept falling off the track all the time. This is why they were forced to set up those rails everywhere.
Just so you know, you forgot two rainbow roads. RMX Rainbow Roads 1 and 2 from the best Mario Kart game, Tour. There's also like 6 from the arcade games but IDK
@porgchassle2266 in what world is Tour a good Mario Kart game? It’s better now than what it used to be but the only MK worse than it is Super Mario Kart
15:43 (sorry for this rather long comment...) Ngl, the fact that that Bowser Castle is the flying Bowser Castle from Paper Mario only strengthens your statement. A lot of people within the Super Mario Fandom as a whole have huge nostalgia for Paper Mario series and hell, the entirety of the Mario RPG's as a whole. Those games shaped many people's childhoods, and being hard to realize that they may never get Mario games like those ever again considering for the fact that: 1.SquareEnix still doesn't have the best relationship with Nintendo and 2. AlphaDream went out of business Even if Intelligent Systems still making Paper Mario games, the more modern games are much more watered down due to mandates which heavily restricts storytelling and world building, one of the main things people love about the Mario RPG games to begin with. That one Castle represents more than just childhood. It's a reminder of a bygone Era of the Super Mario franchise, and arguably Nintendo or even gaming as a whole. Back when games had heart and soul put into them, instead of just being cheap cash grabs made to milk off of beloved series. And like you said, we simply have to move on. There's no point in trying to revolt when higher ups of multi-billion dollar corporations can simply choose to ignore the loud ones, and only appeal to the younger children or hyper casuals that won't care about quality. At this point, do something else. Like maybe showing support to or even creating yourself indie and or fan works who try to show honor, contributions, or even continue the legacy of these beloved games. I really liked your statement. It shows me a new prospective of GBA Rainbow Road.
10:55 Well, I let you know that when I started to make my Rainbow Road ranking, I had this in first place with Wii being in second place because I thought my love for Wii’s iteration was just nostalgia bias. Then I replayed them and put Wii at first place, making 3DS fall to second place. Then I started liking the GCN version more, and the DS one also grown on me overtime as I replayed it, so now the 3DS version is in 4th place.
I think Wii, Double Dash, and DS are the best rainbow roads. I go back and forth on the order. I like the challenge of Wii and the looks of GCN and DS.
Double Dash's absolutely is my favorite. I may not have played many Mario Kart games, but everything about it has always enamored me about it (Only reason it's not my favorite from the game is Mushroom City) And there's a good reason the Smash team for Ultimate made it the only Rainbow Road to not be in the medley and be it's own song
GBA is the best because it actually has shortcuts, lol. Also, this one is the most aesthetically pleasing although that's the same with the whole of super circuit. Super circuit and 8 I would say are equal graphic wise in my opinion
You single handedly gained my respect for putting GBA Rainbow Road on top. GBA is easily the most underrated Mario Kart series and it's been constantly shunned and overlooked by other Mario Karts. Even Nintendo almost never points the spotlight on GBA Tracks until recently. I HOPE that GBA Rainbow Road gets a remake in the near future.
How cool is it that your favorite is the GBA one, because I happen to feel almost the same about it, seeing as the music is a mix between finale-like and adventurous, the track itself has a really cool Jump Pad gimmick that's never been used before or since, and the castle from Paper Mario is a nice touch. Not many people bring this up, but another Paper Mario reference is the Shy Guy pirate ship in Shy Guy Beach, with the other Paper Mario reference being the floating Bowser Castle in GBA Rainbow Road. I also like how just like the SNES Rainbow Road, the GBA one has its own unique song, and doesn't... ''steal''? from MK64's music if you know what I mean. The build-up to GBA Rainbow Road is also amazing IMO. -- First, you start at Lakeside Park, with volcanoes and a very unique ''Prehistoric Jungle'' setting. The sky gets dark after the first Lap as a result of the volcanoes erupting, and stays dark until you complete the race. -- Then, Broken Pier has an ominous, deep-blue sky with mountains containing creepy faces with fire burning inside! I once read that this track is located near a graveyard, and I can kind of see that, since the pier itself is haunted by Boos. I imagine myself the racers go to this graveyard after one of them has died from the erupting volcano at Lakeside Park, and bury him at Broken Pier and cremate the victim. Pretty dark. -- Next, you race through GBA Bowser Castle 4. This marks the first time a Mario Kart game has had four Bowser Castle tracks that follow each other up, not counting the Retro SNES Bowser Castle tracks, and I think the four GBA Bowser Castles have some kind of story to tell, if you know what I mean. I -- In BC1, you're standing in front of the closed prortal of the castle. II -- In BC2, you avoid dangerous lava pits inside a lava room with some hints at the looming danger as is evident by the Bowser statues found throughout the castle as a piece of background decoration. The many lava pits you have to jump over and the caged roads found throughout this course could be a reference to the traditional Bowser Castle levels found in games like Super Mario World. And I didn't even intend to make a comparison to this specific coincidence, but -- the castles from SMW and MKSC both have you using some sort of metal fences in order to cross the lava below. Maybe it was an intentional reference, maybe it's just a coincidence (too bad Nintendo ruined GBA BC2 in MKDS...). III -- BC3 has you exit the inside hallway and ending up in a dark courtyard with a deep blue sky, with lightening bolts striking in the background! And when you think that this was the last GBA Bowser Castle, then the King of Koopas has some bad news for ya'! IV -- There's a secret FOURTH Bowser Castle waiting for the racers! After experiencing just a bit of fire in the first two tracks of the GBA Special Cup -- the lava-spewing volcanoes in Lakeside Park and the fire present inside the creepy mountains found at the cemetery of Broken Pier -- Bowser proudly shows the other racers his true race track, Bowser Castle 4! This is by far the longest track in the entirety of Mario Kart: Super Circuit, and this time you'll be able to see a giant, strange machine in the backdrop. I know for CERTAIN that this track in particular is meant to be a reference to Super Mario World! First off: there are fences visible in the background similar to those metal fences you use in SMW to cross the lava I mentioned in GBA BC2, and second: Mecha Koopas are walking around somewhere at the end of this complicated track, which are enemies that originate from Super Mario World. If you dig deep enough, you end up discovering little details like this. And it isn't at all as in-your-face as in Mario Kart 8, for instance. And for the love of [SPAGHETTI!], I can't BELIEVE Nintendo hasn't yet decided to give BC4 a remake, yet all the other three GBA Bowser Castle tracks HAVE gotten remakes in past entries, with various results in quality, to say the least. -- I went WAY off-topic there, sorry. But after either escaping or dying inside that litteral hell of a course (I personally thing it's a great track, BTW), the racers finally make their way to what I consider to be their final resting place, the Mario Kart Super Circuit equivalent of Heaven -- the GBA version of Rainbow Road. This is the track that I love probably the most out of all the Rainbow Roads in the MK series, and to not beat around the bush and to make my point clear: I think the #1 spot for it on this list is rightfully deserved, for all the reasons I listed at the beginning of my comment. There's a reason many people hope to see it return in the Booster Course Pass in MK8 Deluxe or in a future Mario Kart game!
Glad to see N64 Rainbow Road at the bottom, it's so boring and I can't see the appeal. I was also surprised to GBA Rainbow Road at the top, but I can definitely respect that, it's so underrated and has a lot going for it. Personally for me, 3DS or GCN Rainbow Road is my favorite, the music, the track design, everything about those two are spot on for me
How most of us reacted when a flat rainbow road beat the 3DS rainbow road: 😭 (yes im one of them 😂) GBA has beautiful colours and I do like that you bounce off the side but that’s it for me personally.
N64 remake is my favorite, the fact that it is supposedly too short doesn’t bother me bcs I always play on 200cc like a madman. The fact that the road is so bright when the background is mostly pitch-dark is amazing, and imo the gold makes it feel more magical, like it was created by a being who could just summon whatever they wanted without caring that gold is expensive af. The bouncing Chain Chomps are so goofy and adorable too, and also the train is cool. And gliding towards the finish line is glorious, and it’s hilarious when your character falls off after you cross the finish line
Not that N64 Rainbow Road needs any more defenders as I know it has them and there’s nostalgia bias for sure but when that was the only console Mario Kart game, N64 Rainbow Road was THE track that most people were most excited to get to. Of course in retrospect there are things wrong with it but i’d argue that the difficulty isn’t about obstacles and guard rails, it’s endurance. Getting a first place on the track meant a lot, especially if you’ve played 4-player throughout the entirety of the game (moreso when points are so close). In 6-7 minutes, you could be unlucky with items, lose your nerve and that could lose it all for you. The length of the track was the challenge and with the look of it, the sound, it being the final track, it all came together to finish off a truly groundbreaking title. I actually prefer it to the remade track as it feels too short (and just prefer the look and vibe of the original). Sorry that was so long but I just had to defend it a little bit!
I don't understand why so many people would want DS Rainbow Road or GCN Rainbow Road in Mario Kart 9. As much as I prefer these 2, GBA Rainbow Road deserves AND needs a remake way more. It could really be epic with elevation changes, better scenery, and the new gimmicks that were added since Super Circuit. I don't want this track to be stuck on a 32-bit handheld and condemned to stay flat!
I’m so happy you did justice to the gba rainbow road track, amazing video man! The gba mario kart game was my first and I absolutely love every track of that game!
Trying to put into words how it felt to unlock the hidden cup in Super Mario Kartis tough. Back then there was no internet, unlockables like that were rare, and it had the best visuals and soundtrack in the game imo.
I also always wondered what the grinning, clown-like castle in the background of the Rainbow Road in Mario Kart Super Circuit was. I just didn't play Paper Mario back then.
I always thought of N64 rainbow road as a marathon. The other Rainbow roads test your high level skills, but N64 tests your ENDURANCE and core base driving abilities. Can you maintain a lead when 11 other racers are all using every item they have at their disposal to ruin your day for 6 minutes straight? I personally think that gives it a reason to put it higher on the list, and was actually a bit disappointed that MK8 decided to segment it into a single lap track (though loved every other change to the remake)…but given the number of great rainbow roads out there, I’m not too disappointed to see it at the bottom of the list.
The Wii U one doesn’t have my favourite Rainbow Road atmosphere, but within the context of the game having two other rainbow roads it makes a nice variety of vibes
Pleasantly surprised to see Super Circuit's rendition so high. Personally, my favorite is Double Dash's, but I love Super Circuit and definitely believe in how underrated it is.
Now my ranking but with explanations on each track: 9) N64: Just a boring track that goes on for way too long and totally misses the point of a Rainbow Road. 8) SNES: The theme is still… kinda bland. Though at least it respects the premise of what a Rainbow Road should be. 7) Wii U: It’s literally a watered down Wii Rainbow Road. The theme is not as charming, the track doesn’t feel as exhilarating, it’s just kinda forgettable with nothing to stand out and be a worthy successor of the Wii or 3DS iteration of this track. 6) 3DS: The most overrated track of all time. The theme is really great and the planets are a great idea. The final section is also epic. The problem is, there’s little-to-no difficulty, chaos, or high-speed that you’d expect in a Rainbow Road. In fact, it’s way too slow. Except for the final section, but at that point, it’s kinda late to solve this issue. I will never understand why people put it at number 1 and think it would have been a better finale for the BCP than Wii Rainbow Road. 5) N64 remake: It managed to alleviate all the issues with the original version of this track. The track is now actually difficult with high speed and tight turns. It also has this party atmosphere I genuinely love. You even have a gorgeous color palette and so many trick opportunities. 4) GBA: It has a great music with a beautiful skybox. But the shortcut potential is what really elevates it this high for me. It’s so satisfying to finish the race in insanely short times with those shortcuts, especially because of how hard they can be to pull off. 3) GCN: Now we’re getting to the best ones. GCN Rainbow Road has a high difficulty, a cool and epic celebration-like music, and a unique gimmick with the trampoline. It’s also a fast-paced track with all those boost pads. 2) DS: It has all the ingredients for a great and memorable finale. It’s difficult, the staff ghost is the strongest of them all, the layout feels like a true roller coaster, and it’s fairly fast-paced and action-packed, especially with snaking. The color palette on the road is also really pretty. The loop de loops are a fantastic addition as well and are more epic than any MK8DX antigravity section. 1) Wii: I mean, you should have seen this coming. Everything is perfect in this track. It might be the best track of all time, up there with DK Summit. The track has constant high-speed with non-stop action. The music is just epic. The track is really brutally difficult, which makes it so much more fun when you play it with unexperienced friends or family members and everyone is falling off while you’re getting Mario Karted by someone’s blue shell. This track is not just a track. It’s literally a roller coaster, and a true final boss, just what a Rainbow Road should be. This track is just flawless.
12:30 Same here, hence why double dash remains to this day my favorite Mario Kart. My first time playing it was way back in 2006. Only disadvantage: Rosalina is not there.
Tbh, the more I re-Watch this video and replay GBA Rainbow Road, the more this track grows on me. Anyway, here’s my ranking; 9) N64 Rainbow Road (OG) 8) SNES Rainbow Road 7) Wii U Rainbow Road 6) 3DS Rainbow Road 5) N64 Rainbow Road (remake) 4) GBA Rainbow Road 3) GCN Rainbow Road 2) DS Rainbow Road 1) Wii Rainbow Road
There’s a sign that might imply that Deltron Boris won’t betray Albert. Remember, her evil twin is called Bertil Auris. Well, the other Gerbaltician that betrayed her is Ci’ara Auris, who shares her last name with Bertil. Deltron, on the other hand, shares his last name with Albert. So I think Deltron Boris won’t betray her.
nicei did not see that 1st place coming. nice to see GBA rainbow road be appreciated so much in a ranking of a series which almost entirely consists of fully 3D gameplay
fun fact: the mario kart 8 version of SNES rainbow road is actually easier than the one in MK7, in order to be more playble with 12 racers, the width of the circuit was increased, making it lees likely that you'll fall in pits
Great rankings! I feel like 3ds rainbow road and N64 rainbow road should've been higher. Shocked to see the GBA one at 1st. Where is the 'Every Bowser's Castle Ranked'? I would love to see what you think
The concept of Wii U rainbow road is very unique and clever, the problem with the track isn't the lack of mystifying wonder, but because it's just boring
when gba rainbow road gets remade in the next mario kart game(yes, its guaranteed to happen as every version from 7 onwards remade a rainbow road in the original game version order), i bet its gonna be even more EPIC
I’d say the best is DEFINITELY 3DS’s. It’s a blast to play and I love how it implements planets and the moon. (You know, because it’s in space?) The worst is definitely Wii’s. I have never liked this track. It’s the most difficult and it’s not a good thing. Pair that with the CPU’s difficulty and bam, you have garbage.
Just because you’re bad at the track doesn’t mean it’s the worst Rainbow Road 🤣 Rainbow Road tracks are meant to be hard, that’s why they’re the last course in the game LMAO
I've tried playing Super Circuit, but having never played the original or N64 versions, I had trouble getting used to the controls. Drifting just didn't seem to work for whatever reason. That said, what I've seen and heard of its Rainbow Road makes me really want to see a remake of it. The music is so bouncy and energetic, and the boost ramps on every ledge just sounds like a recipe for pure chaos! I'd love to try it out if it ever gets remade or I can figure out how to actually play Super Circuit. Aside from that, Double Dash, Wii, and 7 were the ones I played the most when I was younger and while I have more nostalgia for Double Dash, I personally prefer Wii and 7's Rainbow Roads.
Here's my list (I didn't have the chance to play gba one so I can't rate it) N64 Rainbow Road (the worst thing ever lmao) SNES Rainbow Road (and remakes) (is good but can't be as good as the other ones) N64 Rainbow Road (wii u remake) (really improved with this version) WII U Rainbow Road (for me it has so much hate, I personally really like it and the shortcut in split way is great) 3DS Rainbow Road (overrated in my opinion, doesn't have the difficulty a rainbow road requires to me, still beautiful and a great experience) DS Rainbow Road (really innovative in the loop things and a good layout) GCN Rainbow Road (had the opportunity with CTGP rev and absolutely fell in love instantly, so creative in every part of the track) WII Rainbow Road (hated in the past, but is just so perfect, is hard enough to represent a real challenge, so beautiful and amazing layout)
Gcn rainbow road is my favorite rainbow road because of the part where you get launched in the air and the visuals plus the music! My favorite rainbow road song is the gcn one.
I’m really happy to see MK8’s Rainbow Road wasn’t last (yeah, wasn’t highly ranked but still). Most people seem to hate it and I think it’s undeserved. It’s up there as one of my favourites with the whole space station theme
Do you have any idea how many people are having a meltdown because Wii Rainbow Road might not be coming to the booster course? I’m rewatching these rankings and it’s interesting to see now with the booster releases.
10:55 Well, I don't rank it at first place. It's only 4th for me. Wii Rainbow Road is my number 1. Cut that, I'd say it's the best Mario Kart track ever. If 3DS Rainbow Road "isn't just a track but an adventure", then Wii Rainbow Road isn't a track either. It's a true roller coaster!
i dont actually understand the hype people put around 3ds rainbow road, like for me i can easily imagine the road and railling textures to be change to a scifi metal and can see it more of a astronaut themed track than rainbow road. sorta like the direction of mk 8's one went in and the song just feels too mellow and the n64 part really just seems there for nostalgia baiting.
Albert was right. if there is a cup filled with the best rainbow road’s DS will never be in the cup. no retro tracks. Wii rainbow road 3DS Rainbow road GCN Rainbow road GBA rainbow road
Here is my ranking nobody asked for (and ter your info, I'm not a Mario Kart Wii fan) 1. Wii 2. 3DS 3. GBA 4. SNES (8-rendition) 5. 64 (8-rendition) 6. GCN 7. Wii U 8. DS 9. SNES (other versions) 10. 64 (original)
biggest thing about N64 Rainbow Road was it was sooooo long. thats the biggest reason I would think to dislike it. Besides that though, it feels more like a track that should be in credits remembering the journey than the Rainbow Road
I wasn't expecting GBA's Rainbow Road to be ranked so high and while I don't agree it's the best Rainbow Road, I do agree that's it's very underrated. The visuals are very beautiful and it's fun to play on. I like the colors used on the road as well. 3DS Rainbow Road is still the best in my opinion with Wii being second. I also do enjoy N64's Rainbow Road but I enjoy all of them to some extent.
My Ranking from Best to Worst: #1. 3DS Rainbow Road #2. SNES Rainbow Road (3DS) #3. N64 Rainbow Road (Wii U/Switch) #4. Wii Rainbow Road #5. SNES Rainbow Road (Wii U/Switch) #6. GCN Rainbow Road #7. N64 Rainbow Road #8. DS Rainbow Road #9. GBA Rainbow Road #10. Wii U/Switch Rainbow Road #11. SNES Rainbow Road (GBA) #12. SNES Rainbow Road This is definitely a biased list since SNES Rainbow Road on the 3DS is so high because of nostalgia as that was the track I have a lot of personal memories on and they were amazing memories. Also, I spent a lot of time trying to do that ramp shortcut near the beginning and when I finally did it, I was so happy. Some tracks are low because I haven't played them before but I've seen gameplay and I do like them at least but there's no personal value like SNES Rainbow Road on the GBA, GBA Rainbow Road and GCN Rainbow Road
Take the nostalgia goggles off. N64 Rainbow Road is a terrible track. Like, arguably the worst track in Mario Kart history. It is 6 minutes of boring driving with barely any obstacles and no way to fall off. It's easy and super bland. Just a terrible track.
9: Wii U (Where’s the rainbow?! I’m a simple man, I want my rainbow road to be GOOD) 8: N64 (Goes on forever! It’s a classic, but not good! There are guardrails!) 7: Arcade GP (A fun, but overly simple rendition of this track) 6: GBA (The shortcuts in this track are absolutely insane!) 5: DS (Just a watered down version of the Gamecube version) 4: SNES (I loved this one because of the 7 and 8 remakes) 3: Gamecube (Spiced up DS version! This track has stars falling down! So cool!) 2: Wii (Still the most difficult track in the entire series) 1: 3DS (Only one of the greatest Mariokart tracks ever made!)
I personally agree with the placement of 3ds rainbow road. In my opinion, it's just a boring track. It does almost nothing unique, and it really de-emphasises the rainbow road aspect of rainbow road. If you told me that it was a generic space track that pays homage to rainbow road, I'd believe you
Ironically, _Super Mario Kart_ wasn't planned to have a Rainbow Road. In its place earlier in development was a cut third variation of the Choco Island tracks
This is gonna give me nightmares lol
oh my god wasnt it so good it got replaced
i wonder what it would be like, would we get choco islands as the last tracks instead of rainbow roads?
@@Solarwhale32 Nope, it wouldnt be as iconic, it would get lost In time
I'm happy they decided to include Rainbow Road. If they didn't, Mario Kart wouldn't be the same as it is today.
Cool
@AlbertBoris.

Cool. Now I can die happily now that I know.
They shouldn’t have had any rails, that way the human players would get an easy win
This video canonically takes place before Bertil Auris had his mouth surgery, hence his older voice. Just another piece of Albert Boris-lore lol
Just so you know, you forgot two rainbow roads. RMX Rainbow Roads 1 and 2 from the best Mario Kart game, Tour. There's also like 6 from the arcade games but IDK
Also, I raise my pitchfork for saying 3ds is good. It's overrated and played too much online lol

Ngl, the fact that that Bowser Castle is the flying Bowser Castle from Paper Mario only strengthens your statement.

I really liked your statement. It shows me a new prospective of GBA Rainbow Road.
Now you gave me an even deeper perspective on this track lol. Might be time to bump it to the top five best course list overall...
The Origami King was pretty good though
GBA has my 3rd favorite rainbow road, and I always thought it was so underrated. Seeing it get placed in first place has left me so incredibly shocked
10:55 Well, I let you know that when I started to make my Rainbow Road ranking, I had this in first place with Wii being in second place because I thought my love for Wii’s iteration was just nostalgia bias. 10:55 Pikehunter placed this track at number 3.
Double Dash's absolutely is my favorite. I may not have played many Mario Kart games, but everything about it has always enamored me about it (Only reason it's not my favorite from the game is Mushroom City)
And there's a good reason the Smash team for Ultimate made it the only Rainbow Road to not be in the medley and be it's own song
Nice to see another Mushroom City fan
Finally someone understands how great GBA Rainbow Road is! it's always been my favorite lol
anyways my ranking of ALL of them because why not please help me why are there 31

Ayy it's you hi, also wow you really went above and beyond with that list
hi josh
more downhill respect please :(
NS? 8 originally came out on the Wii U lmao
Aside from that and the Wii U rainbow road’s low ranking, I like this ranking
Great video mate and also a great video idea! 💡 I like how you also included the REMAKES. Great decision.
You should make a Bowser Castles ranking next
He has, and the one with MARTY won, as it should
I will admit though, Wii U’s rainbow road has amazing music, even if it doesn’t fit a rainbow road.
It is a bold, bold claim to put GBA RR as the best of all, and I respect the boldness
Personally for me, 3DS or GCN Rainbow Road is my favorite, the music, the track design, everything about those two are spot on for me
DS Rainbow Road's music is underwhelming? What? I feel like it's almost on par with N64's
How most of us reacted when a flat rainbow road beat the 3DS rainbow road: 😭 (yes im one of them 😂)
GBA has beautiful colours and I do like that you bounce off the side but that’s it for me personally.
My Rainbow Road Rankings:
D or F Tier:
12. N64 Rainbow Road (original)
B+ Tier:
11-9. SNES Rainbow Road (all but 8DX)
8. DS Rainbow Road
7. Wii U Rainbow Road
A- Tier:
6. SNES Rainbow Road (8DX)
5. GBA Rainbow Road
S Tier:
4. N64 Rainbow Road (8DX)
3. GCN Rainbow Road
2. Wii Rainbow Road
1. 3DS Rainbow Road
Love how the location for this video is 'Rainbow Road'
It is a road it is a rainbow road
Albert, if you would've made this video after wave 3 where would you place MK8 remake of 3DS Rainbow Road?
Probably just after the original
N64 remake is my favorite, the fact that it is supposedly too short doesn’t bother me bcs I always play on 200cc like a madman. The fact that the road is so bright when the background is mostly pitch-dark is amazing, and imo the gold makes it feel more magical, like it was created by a being who could just summon whatever they wanted without caring that gold is expensive af. The bouncing Chain Chomps are so goofy and adorable too, and also the train is cool. And gliding towards the finish line is glorious, and it’s hilarious when your character falls off after you cross the finish line
i feel like mario kart 64's rainbow road was meant to be more like a victory lap for after you finished the game
Seeing GBA’s Rainbow Road at 1 was definitely shocking. But solid list
Insanely unpopular opinion putting GBA rainbow road in first. It almost always gets bottom 3
You’re officially the Mario Kart hot takes queen!
14:08 I always wanted to try this one so now I hope it gets into the dlc
My ranking (not counting remakes) would be:
10. N64 Rainbow Road
9. GCN Rainbow Road
8. SNES Rainbow Road
7. DS Rainbow Road
6. RMX Rainbow Road 1
5. RMX Rainbow Road 2
4. GBA Rainbow Road
3. Wii U Rainbow Road
2. Wii Rainbow Road
1. 3DS Rainbow Road
Trying to put into words how it felt to unlock the hidden cup in Super Mario Kartis tough. Back then there was no internet, unlockables like that were rare, and it had the best visuals and soundtrack in the game imo.
You putted gba one first
Youre worthy of been a god
GCN & GBA are my top 2 as well. Was so happy to see someone else share my opinion
Mario Kart 64 only had 8 racers per race, not 12
The Wii U one doesn’t have my favourite Rainbow Road atmosphere, but within the context of the game having two other rainbow roads it makes a nice variety of vibes
Pleasantly surprised to see Super Circuit's rendition so high. Personally, my favorite is Double Dash's, but I love Super Circuit and definitely believe in how underrated it is.
My Ranking would be
8.N64 Rainbow Road (F Tier)
7.8DX Rainbow Road (F Tier)
6.DS Rainbow Road ( B Tier)
5.GBA Rainbow Road (B Tier)
4.GCN Rainbow Road (B Tier)
3.SNES Rainbow Road (A Tier)
2.WII Rainbow Road (S Tier)
1.3DS Rainbow Road (S Tier)
N64 rainbow road is like driving on the highway. You just drive straight with zero substance.
True. Although the highway doesn't even have fireworks...
DS Rainbow road will still be my favorit.
2nd best one for me, challenged only by the Wii version
9:52 This is probably the Rainbow Road I know the least about.
Now my ranking but with explanations on each track:
9) N64: Just a boring track that goes on for way too long and totally misses the point of a Rainbow Road.
Rosalina appeared in Mario Kart Wii
Tbh, the more I re-Watch this video and replay GBA Rainbow Road, the more this track grows on me.
Anyway, here’s my ranking;
9) N64 Rainbow Road (OG)
8) SNES Rainbow Road
7) Wii U Rainbow Road
6) 3DS Rainbow Road
5) N64 Rainbow Road (remake)
4) GBA Rainbow Road
3) GCN Rainbow Road
2) DS Rainbow Road
1) Wii Rainbow Road
If you do make this vid I have an idea of what you're gonna put 1st
@@karenbaker8685wii?
N64 Rainbow Road is a terrible track.
Mario Kart 8’s Bowser’s Castle is the best one with the MKDS and Wii versions in 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
@@DigitusDendron Wii’s is easily the best lol
The concept of Wii U rainbow road is very unique and clever, the problem with the track isn't the lack of mystifying wonder, but because it's just boring
when gba rainbow road gets remade in the next mario kart game(yes, its guaranteed to happen as every version from 7 onwards remade a rainbow road in the original game version order), i bet its gonna be even more EPIC
I love how you and your evil twin just get along
Maybe a hot take, but I prefer Bertil Auris voice here. I chuckle when he shows up unannounced and has that demonic voice.
I can definitely see the comedic aspect of the old Bertil's voice 🤣
I actually love the setting of MK8’s rainbow road. I’m a big Sci-Fi fan, and so that aesthetic really appeals to me.
4:54 same with MK8 n64 rainbow road, are you rlly complaining cos of the atmosphere, what about the actual track, and the road is technically rainbow
Nice ranking my man. My favorite is MK7's Rainbow Road. Wii at number 2.
And the MK8 version of N64 rainbow road did a 180 by making it so short that the loop of the song dosnt end when you finnish it
I’d say the best is DEFINITELY 3DS’s. It’s a blast to play and I love how it implements planets and the moon. (You know, because it’s in space?)
The worst is definitely Wii’s. I have never liked this track. It’s the most difficult and it’s not a good thing. Pair that with the CPU’s difficulty and bam, you have garbage.
lol the essence of Rainbow Road is to be difficult
Just because you’re bad at the track doesn’t mean it’s the worst Rainbow Road 🤣 Rainbow Road tracks are meant to be hard, that’s why they’re the last course in the game LMAO
@@triple7marc now that it’s 7 months later and I lack in a skill issue, I actually love this track now. It’s pretty damn fun!
Skill issue
You don't know how to judge *period*
Here's my list (I didn't have the chance to play gba one so I can't rate it)
N64 Rainbow Road (the worst thing ever lmao)
SNES Rainbow Road (and remakes) (is good but can't be as good as the other ones)
N64 Rainbow Road (wii u remake) (really improved with this version)
WII U Rainbow Road (for me it has so much hate, I personally really like it and the shortcut in split way is great)
3DS Rainbow Road (overrated in my opinion, doesn't have the difficulty a rainbow road requires to me, still beautiful and a great experience)
DS Rainbow Road (really innovative in the loop things and a good layout)
GCN Rainbow Road (had the opportunity with CTGP rev and absolutely fell in love instantly, so creative in every part of the track)
WII Rainbow Road (hated in the past, but is just so perfect, is hard enough to represent a real challenge, so beautiful and amazing layout)
Here’s how I rank them
9: N64 rainbow road (Original version)
8: Ds rainbow road
7: SNES rainbow road
6: Wii U rainbow road
5: GBA rainbow road
4: N64 rainbow road (Remake)
3: GCN rainbow road
2: Wii rainbow road
1: 3ds rainbow road
good ranking
GBA Rainbow Road was an interesting top pick
GBA Rainbow road is by far the most boring one to date, the 3DS one is fucking magical, the music is a masterpiece and the track is gorgeous
I don’t think people hate it, they just forget about it because it’s not that great.
Do you have any idea how many people are having a meltdown because Wii Rainbow Road might not be coming to the booster course? I’m rewatching these rankings and it’s interesting to see now with the booster releases.
Well thank Bidoof it came but if it didn’t come fans would have given it the DS Airship Fortress treatment
I think I practically fully agree with this list, maybe I'd swap DS and Wii, and swap 3DS and GCN but overall this is a great list!
Agreed
Albert was right. if there is a cup filled with the best rainbow road’s DS will never be in the cup. no retro tracks.
Wii rainbow road
3DS Rainbow road
GCN Rainbow road
GBA rainbow road
My favourite one is the Wii Rainbow Road
Here is my ranking nobody asked for (and ter your info, I'm not a Mario Kart Wii fan)
1. Wii
2. 3DS
3. GBA
4. SNES (8-rendition)
5. 64 (8-rendition)
6. GCN
7. Wii U
8. DS
9. SNES (other versions)
10. 64 (original)
Most people claim super circuit is the WORST rainbow road. I did not expect that top 1.
Double Dash is the greatest Rainbow Road ever madera, because the epicness and glorious soundtrack. When you win 1st on that track u feel like a God.
"Lower your pitchforks"
No. ILL RAISE IT EVEN HIGHER!
Go luck playing N64 rainbow road on time trials with our dying of loneliness
Wii rainbow road is more fun to drive on than 3ds in my opinion, 3ds is more fun conceptually and visually but it doesnt feel as satisfying to finish
If a Rainbow Road fuses the visual beauty of 3DS RR and the speed & difficulty of Wii RR, that’ll be a banger
biggest thing about N64 Rainbow Road was it was sooooo long. thats the biggest reason I would think to dislike it. Besides that though, it feels more like a track that should be in credits remembering the journey than the Rainbow Road
"Flavorless Technology" Why do you considered it flavorless nowadays? I don't think it is a such thing.
My ranking:
12: N64 Rainbow Road (Wii U Remake)
11: N64 Rainbow Road (Original)
10: SNES Rainbow Road (GBA Remake)
9: SNES Rainbow Road (Original)
8: Wii U Rainbow Road
7: DS Rainbow Road
6: SNES Rainbow Road (3DS Remake)
5: GCN Rainbow Road
4: GBA Rainbow Road
3: Wii Rainbow Road
2: SNES Rainbow Road (Wii U Remake)
1: 3DS Rainbow Road
GBA Rainbow Road is so underrated
MKSC is underrated in general
Great Video btw
I wasn't expecting GBA's Rainbow Road to be ranked so high and while I don't agree it's the best Rainbow Road, I do agree that's it's very underrated. The visuals are very beautiful and it's fun to play on. I like the colors used on the road as well. 3DS Rainbow Road is still the best in my opinion with Wii being second. I also do enjoy N64's Rainbow Road but I enjoy all of them to some extent.
Do you know that in Mario kart ds is a tiny bit weird the versions SNES’ N64 GBA GCN DS WII 3DS MK8 TOUR
I will never understand why EVERYONE loves 3DS rainbow road like i honestly would rather play DS desert hills idk it just never grew on me
so much lore in this video!!! 👀👀
My Ranking from Best to Worst:
#1. 3DS Rainbow Road
#2. SNES Rainbow Road (3DS)
#3. N64 Rainbow Road (Wii U/Switch)
#4. Wii Rainbow Road
#5. SNES Rainbow Road (Wii U/Switch)
#6. GCN Rainbow Road
#7. N64 Rainbow Road
#8. DS Rainbow Road
#9. GBA Rainbow Road
#10. Wii U/Switch Rainbow Road
#11. SNES Rainbow Road (GBA)
#12. SNES Rainbow Road
This is definitely a biased list since SNES Rainbow Road on the 3DS is so high because of nostalgia as that was the track I have a lot of personal memories on and they were amazing memories.
Bro, I can't believe you ranked the 64 rainbow road last... it should've been 3rd top at least
Take the nostalgia goggles off. N64 Rainbow Road is a terrible track. Like, arguably the worst track in Mario Kart history. It is 6 minutes of boring driving with barely any obstacles and no way to fall off. It's easy and super bland. Just a terrible track.
It’s way too long and boring
Part of me thinks they made 64’s AI rubber band as hard as they do is because of rainbow road’s lack of difficulty otherwise…
9: Wii U (Where’s the rainbow?! I’m a simple man, I want my rainbow road to be GOOD)
8: N64 (Goes on forever! It’s a classic, but not good! There are guardrails!)
7: Arcade GP (A fun, but overly simple rendition of this track)
6: GBA (The shortcuts in this track are absolutely insane!)
5: DS (Just a watered down version of the Gamecube version)
4: SNES (I loved this one because of the 7 and 8 remakes)
3: Gamecube (Spiced up DS version! This track has stars falling down! So cool!)
2: Wii (Still the most difficult track in the entire series)
1: 3DS (Only one of the greatest Mariokart tracks ever made!)
I personally agree with the placement of 3ds rainbow road. In my opinion, it's just a boring track. It does almost nothing unique, and it really de-emphasises the rainbow road aspect of rainbow road. If you told me that it was a generic space track that pays homage to rainbow road, I'd believe you
No way bro thinks GBA Rainbow Road is better than 3DS rainbow road.
3ds rainbow road overrated tbh
Mk8's is top 3
The castle is Bowser’s castle 5, since there are already 4 others in the game 😂
My list:
1. WII
2. GCN
3. 3DS
4. SNES
5. N64
6. WII U
7. GBA
8. DS

I like the video but I don't really agree the gba as number one but finally someone sees how bad n64 for one is
