I'm Sewing a Dress For the First Time | Beth Harmon Style

- I'm sewing a dress for the first time, Beth Harmon from "The Queen's Gambit" style. I totally forgot to mention that I was heavily inspired of one of the dresses from series on Netflix. I watched it a few weeks ago, and is obsessing over the first dress she buys as a teenager. I will probably try to sew a more similar as well, but since I wanted to make my own Christmas dress this year, I decided to make a merry inspired version.
I did not use a pattern for this. I can't stress this enough, so please don't come for all my mistakes. I struggled a lot and will most definitely use a pattern next time. I just did not find any dress pattern that suited what I wanted.
Making my own clothes is extremely satisfying in a strange way. It's like a new world has opened up, and I can finally make all of my dream clothes! No more scrolling online or endless walking through stores for the perfect, visualized outfit.
I will definitly sew more in the future.

The more you do, the more you know, the more you can. Keep sewing my friend.
Very Lovely, the dress as well.
Mithilde,
You are amazing. I loved that you titled the dress the Beth Harmon dress. Plaid is notoriously hard to work with and you did a fabulous job. You are brave and always conquering whatever you start. Keep going. I love to watch your journey
You look gorgeous!!! What a great job you did...I knew you would! Love the little gold accent.
Wow! Excellent for a first time!!
Is there anything you cant do - so talented❤🇨🇦
Beauty and elegance
Very nice!
Can’t believe it was your first time sewing…
I love it! Good job!
This is amazing for your first time 🖤
Thank you so much!
utrolig arbeid Mathilde, veldig imponerende x
You did a great job for a first attempt and not even following a pattern! 😍 As someone who has sewn for many years and studied fashion design, I can definitely see some areas of improvement - but I do not think my first sewing attempt was even close to as successful as yours.
You think so?😍 thank you! My next project will definitly be with a pattern! But it was a superfun prosess. I can't wait to make more dresses for summer!
@@MathildeHenriksen I definitely do! 😊 I am looking forward to following your sewing journey.
@@missmatti thank you!

haha, you do? I'm terrible with needles. I've sewn my self to a pair of curtains once 😅 And thank you!
That was a complete success! you look amazing !!!
Ps: Your videos are a spa, I feel like I have exfoliated my brain.
haha, thank you!
wow! i can't believe you figured all of that out so well for your first time. especially the zipper. well, the bodice shape too! (hint, darts are sewn to the inside of the bodice. but the way you made them works too). i know this is a year old. hoping you keep posting to your channel.
Thank you so much! I have watched a lot of RUclips videos, so I guess I've learned a thing or two without thinking about it, haha.
I have so many ideas and projects just waiting at home, ready to be filmed. You have no idea! I have just been swamped with work lately..
BRB, I am off to buy a Christmas tablecloth..!
Seriously though, what an amazing outcome for your first time sewing, congratulations!!
Thank you Sonia! I will make another try on the Beth Harmon dress tho, I love it!
I’ve just watched Catch and Release and thoroughly enjoyed it. Wonderful script and acting, especially by you and the older policewoman. I decided to see if you’d done an interview in English. I suddenly came across the sewing clip with the Xmas-type tablecloth! Really great. I admired how you persevered right to the very end, creating a sensational masterpiece. How did you do that? Anyway, I decided to subscribe to your channel because you asked me to do it! I’ll check out some of your other clips in due course. I’ve never been to Norway and I would like to find out about it. Who better than yourself to teach me? Cheers.
Amazing job!
Thank you!
This turned out so great! Also your accent and voice are lovely!
Haha, you think? Thank you!
At the end it was a successful job!!!!

From tomorrow 8/04/2024 you have 37 days. Do you dare to make your own bunad?...:😅
Haha, I might make another in the future. My current one is not an "official" Bunad, but it is something my mother has made for me. I helped with design, picking fabric and embroidery :)
