Making a Daisy Dress - a cottagecore dress tutorial

- I‘m back with a tutorial on my daisy dress! I didn’t intend to make a tutorial while making this dress, so it’s a little different style of video, but I hope it helps if you want to make your own! my goal for 2021 is to post consistently on youtube (right now I’m aiming for 2 videos a month) so hopefully you will be seeing more of me this year :)

Supplies I used for this dress:
4 yds daisy tulle (though I recommend getting 5!)
3 yds Ivory tulle
1-2yds satin lining
1 yd chiffon
1.5 yds lace trim
Invisible zipper
1/4 inch white elastic

this would make an adorable wedding dress with a large, floppy hat and a bouquet of roses and daisies.
I was actually thinking sunflowers 🌻 and baby’s breath for the bouquet but I also love the idea of yellow roses

Yes! It's great skill to get into and easy to learn. In fact, many years ago it was common for people to make their own clothes instead of buying them before the fast fashion industry became the norm. Sustainable too!

I feel like doing this as a first sewing project would be wayy to adventitious. But, I wanna do it. 🙈
It may be a liiiittle ambitious for a first project, but there is no harm in trying! If the whole dress seems like a lot, just the skirt is a super doable beginner project!

I love how much you gush over your dress. There isn't a moment in the video when you're not smiling. I've always loved the idea of creating clothes, but I suck at measurements and definitely don't have the time (or the energy) to learn a skill like that. This really made me happy though and your smile is seriously contagious. Keep up the awesome work!

this is beautiful! my personal dream version of the strawberry dress is a yellow one with lemons, oranges and limes on it (called the citrus dress of course) but I can't make clothes so I just drew the idea instead lmao

I feel like it's much more wearable as well. The strawberry dress Is pretty, but I would feel so out of place in a dress like that, it's very flashy.

Ahhh i love this dress soooo much! I think i’m gonna try out the skirt part because i’m only a beginner sewer and i think i could do it but not the corset! i love this sooo much but i was wondering what the base fabric was (you said you got if from the fabric market or something but like i was wondering if it’s like cotton or what). But again this dress is so awesome and your so talented :)
The base is a satin lining fabric, but you can use whatever white/ivory fabric you like, it won’t really be seen! 💕

tulle doesn’t need to be hemmed, but all non tulle layers were hemmed or serged!
Love the dress! I wish I could try and recreate this, but I'm trying to stay away from buying anything made out of polyester or plastic in general, so it would get expensive :( I could maybe thrift a few pieces someday and try to use that fabric. Either way its lovely, and you explained the steps very well! And I LOVE to see some circle skirt action! I'm personally ADDICTED to full or even double circle skirts haha! glad to know I'm not alone on that
