Given the cost of material and how much effort goes into sewing the dress I’m surprised the original strawberry dress doesn’t sell for MORE than $490!
Thanks for watching! You are so right, once you see the construction process of making a garment it definitely makes one appreciate a designers work a lot more💕
This dress can be purchased on Aliexpress for under $50.00 with free shipping.
@@ritalove9728 A copy of this dress is on AliExpress. Not the actual dress.
@@ritalove9728 id recommend you watch "We NEED To Talk About The "Strawberry Dress"
" video by Pixielocks.
She talks about why that´s not such a goog idea, even when the original is pricey its not a necessity but a luxury so buying from someone who stole intellectual propiety is kind of NOT THE BEST
@@Chaogardenx I normally agree that people should support the actual creators since buying knockoffs means you're "taking money" away from them. But in cases like this when the dress costs 500 dollars, can you really blame people for buying the knock off?
I mean if you hink about it, the actual designers aren't actually losing any money on this. Anyone who can't afford the 500$ price tag would never even leave their money at this designer anyway. So either they don't buy it=designer earns zero or they buy the knock off= designer earns zero.
And yes, in general I know that buying fast fashion is unethical(everyone knows this), but alot of people just don't have any choice because of economy.
Dresses like this may not be a "necessity", but even people with bad economy should be allowed to express themselves through fashion and their looks, even if it means they have to buy some cheap alternatives. I mean, they're already forced to buy the fast fashion anyway, might as well get something cute.
I kind of dislike it when people are trying to "guilt trip" people who simply can't afford to go the ethical route.
I wish i could look, look at some clothing and go, "imma make that." Its so beautiful.
It definitely takes time to develop that mindset of seeing things in that way, but once your figure it out it’s so fun :)
Brooklyn Harp you can trust me. It’s actually easier to pick up then most other crafts/hobbies.
Essentially sewing isn’t even that complicated in and of itself it just takes a long time but if you look at each step on its own it’s definitely manageable. (I recommend maybe taking some kind of sewing classes that really helped me)
serendipidus1 maybe invest in a sewing course or a new machine maybe 🤔
Because trust me you DONT want to sew that by hand
serendipidus1 ehhhmmm... ok sure
There is so much info available on RUclips and you can totally teach yourself. Also, there are some excellent books on draping patterns and sewing techniques out there. My absolute bible through the years has been "Couture Sewing Techniques" by Linda Maynard and "Draping. the Complete guide" by Karolyn Keisal. the keisal book is pricy but it come with videos and a website which is great.
It does a good job of getting you through the basics and teaches great craftsmanship so your things will be sturdy and crisp looking :) Walmart is a great place to shop for your first project. They have all the basic supplies, and its cheap so if things break or you ruin some fabric it's not that bad lol :) Just have fun with it.
I remember seeing this dress on Marzia Kjellberg, she was personally gifted the dress by Lirika Matoshi, the dress is stunning and you did a great job!
Thank you Anna!

The fact thay she took her time and replied to like all the comments means she really cares
It means a lot that you noticed that! Thanks for the support💕
This reminds me of ruclips.net/video/eFYe4K-XG1M/видео.html
Thank you to everyone in these comments who are calling out the people saying "lol you can get it on ___ for way less". No, you get a poorly made stolen design, and them trying to say this video is the same thing as a knockoff... NO. This person spent a couple hundred and is not SELLING this to people.
That's the difference. She isn't creating them and selling them to make a profit.
This is harmless admiration of the garment and challenging themself to recreate such a lovely piece, buying cheap knockoffs is not. It's like when someone re-draws popular art pieces they admire.
Stop trying to justify that nonsense mindset.
"WELL I WANT THE DRESS AND I'M POOR, IT'S NOT FAIR, ALL I CAN AFFORD IS A KNOCK OFF"
You will not DIE if you don't have the freaking strawberry dress. It is NOT a damn necessity for your daily life.
You can't afford it, then you don't need it. Simple.
Chrisseh N 👏👏👏preach!
I get that it's not the same because she isn't selling it but she's recreating it and giving her money to the fabric manufacters etc, copying the design, even tho she didn't use the original pattern I think she's kinda stealing intellectual property. she isnt using the dress as an inspiration she's copying an actual design that costed hours of trial and error and that is a design from another person. It isnt as bad as selling it but shes proffiting from something she didn't strictly created, and as I said, the original designer gets NOTHING, while this person gets a dress using other people's ideas
i dont know if theres much difference from buying a knock off and creating a knock off
Pan Talla The difference is that she’s not selling it! She’s a seamstress and saw an opportunity. Lots of people do this for themselves so what’s wrong with posting abt it? Nothing. She’s not saying that the creation is hers! She’s not claiming that any of the design is HERS!
@@its_me_luv6941 yeah I get that but she's still using a design that isn't hers... Copying a design doesn't seem the most ethical thing to me
This reminds me of ruclips.net/video/eFYe4K-XG1M/видео.html
"No matter how many years you been sewing, you still make really stupid mistakes." Glad I am not alone. Sometimes I get the impression that I am the only one doing them. 😂 And I need a t-shirt with that quote.
I second the T-Shirt idea! Glad to know I’m not alone either :)
oh my god, I've been sewing for 13 years, and I kid you not, I accidentally sewed two sleeves into the same hole 🤦
This reminds me of ruclips.net/video/eFYe4K-XG1M/видео.html
I was thinking the same thing. I've been sewing for a long time and I had to make a few rules for myself to alleviate making certain mistakes OVER and OVER! Like I only set sleeves in the morning because if I'm even a little tired, they'll be in backwards, upside down, scrunched up... just a mess.
We are in this together....
I’m actually making this dress right now myself but with a Daisy embroidery tulle 😂 it’s a pain but worth it
Oh my gosh, I love daisies! Please share a picture once it’s done 😍

First time watching you and I just wanna say thank you for remaking the dress with materials you bought instead of buying cheap knockoffs (you don’t even know if the cheap knockoffs pay a living wage to those producing it or if they use child labor.) ❤️💕🤲 much love
I really appreciate this comment! I believe in supporting ethical fashion and would struggle buying a knockoff because I don’t know where it’s made. As much as I would have loved to support the designer by purchasing from her, sometimes you have to DIY:)
@serendipidus1 You are so right and definitely making me think about the "what" behind fabric in the future.
serendipidus1 oh yeah :(( i forgot about the fabric production, thank you for telling me
@@MaddieLynn actually the designer herself is albanian and all her designs are handmade (strawberries too), also she has help from a lot of Albanian women in Albania and Kosovo and ofc she pays them good. After all its 'handmade'!!! I think the reason of it being expensive is because she has to pay the women in Kosovo/Albania, the cost of shipping from our countries which are higher than other countries, the cost per materials... so it makes sense that her designs are expensive! Btw amazing recreation but remember that the price isn't everything that you should see!!! Peace!

Strawberry lady!!! Just stunning 😍😍😍
Omfg I'm in love with this dress! I wish it was still a common thing for women to make a lot of their own clothing. They used to learn how in school and we just don't have that anymore. I know how to sew, use a sewing machine and quilt but I've never worked with patterns or clothing. But my grandmother's and mom do.
Making our own clothes is slowly coming back and there are a number of schools who still offer those classes (like the one I teach).
If you can sew a straight(ish) line using a sewing machine then you have a great foundation to sew garments. I started sewing a year ago, with no lessons, and have learned as I go. I just finished making my latest spring makes (I live in NZ): a lined bomber jacket, a pair of linen pants, and a pleated kilt-style skirt. Just buy a simple pattern and some inexpensive fabric and experiment!
@@meganlb01 I love hearing this Megan, thanks for sharing your input and creative encouragement!
With RUclips and some fearlessness, there isn’t anything you can’t do. I am amazed at the wealth of information/tutorials available. I have been sewing for years, and I still learn new techniques. At the same time, I see people teaching sewing and using inefficient techniques. We can all learn from looking through others eyes.
I learned the basics in school (I'm 30) and really I want to get into it so much. I watch videos of people who make their own things. One of the great things about our day and age is the depths of information that we can access.
Making my own clothes from scratch has made me realize how hard, time consuming, and EXPENSIVE this hobby is 😅 The dress looks incredible but pricing out the fabric and the labor needed to make this dress... and it's cheaper and easier to buy the designer original 😬
That’s one thing I love about sewing, is appreciating the time and labor behind our clothes.

@@availanila Rachel's halloween dress was definitely epic!
this is literally perfect!!! ive always wanted to make my own sleeveless version of the strawberry dress but I dont have a sewing machine and material can be expensive...
I hope you get to make your own version of this dress one day!
you can probably find some cheap sewing machines on craigslist. Also theres really cheap fabric on etsy but ihope you get to make it one day
In the case you really can't afford a sewing machine you can always hand sew. Like in the good old days. There's a couple RUclips channels (mostly aimed towards historical fashion) that still do hand stitching. Later on you can then try and buy a machine off of Craigslist
@@leaschmitt2496 i hand sew more then use a machine i find i dont mess up if its by hand it takes more time but it's worth learning to hand sew

Your seriously the sweetest! My skin is not without its faults but I am planning on doing a skincare video soon :)
First video I’ve seen of yours and I’m so amazed! That dress turned out stunning!!
This dress was designed for you. It looks so unbelievably perfect on you!
Oh thank you!
Besides being tedious, would you consider this difficult skill wise? Could a relatively new sewist do this? Or should one have more experience?
Honestly it was way easier than I though. My philosophy is that no matter how new to sewing you are, if you can learn as you go and find videos to teach you what you need, I truly believe anyone is capable of making this. It didn’t have any crazy technical sewing, so if you can gather, add a zipper, work with lining, and sew darts I think you can nail this dress🙌🏻
