We REALLY Need To Talk About My Asus TUF Gaming AIO Review Video

  • In this video, I Re-review the Asus TUF Gaming LC 2 360 ARGB AIO. I use the Intel 14900K to test the cooling capabilities of this CPU Liquid cooler. I made some mistakes in my previous video. This video is meant to clarify my mistakes and present the data in a more accurate manner.
    I did not clarify this in the previous video but I changed one setting in the bios per the reviewers guide. I changed Asus Multicore Enhancement to “Disabled - Enforce All limits”. Then I tested. The Cinebench, XTU, OCCT, and gaming tests are all using this setting until the end when I use AI OC. Intels website lists the 14900K Max Turbo Power as 253 watts. This bios setting ensures we don’t exceed 253 watts which is why the temperature is at 92c. This doesn’t impact the gaming performance as we don’t come close to 253 watts in gaming. But it does skew the synthetic benchmarks. My apologies about that. When I enabled AI OC, this 253 watt limit was lifted/exceeded and then we see Cinebench peak at 100c towards the end of the video. So it depends if you want to exceed 253 watts or not.
    If you want to exceed it, then this setting isn’t for you and your synthetic tests will be hotter than 92c. If you don’t want to exceed 253 watts, then this setting is perfect for you and your synthetic tests should be around 92c. The data is accurate but the context in which the data is framed is inaccurate. My apologies on that. I’ve pinned this statement as a comment on the video. I’ve published it here in this discord. I’ve added this statement to the description of the video as well. I’ve clarified it as much as I can. Please let me know if I need to do something more. I appreciate the continued support. Thank you

    So what's the difference between ASUS TUF Gaming LC II 360 AIO and ASUS ROG Strix LC II 360 AIO? They are exactly the same price on Amazon, with the Strix having more reviews.

      Great questions. The Asus TUF Gaming LC II 360 AIO has RGB fans, quieter fans, a decoupled pump for quieter overall operation, and a smaller pump head for greater motherboard and chassis compatibility. Here are the links for both products on Asus's official website for reference.

    I appreciate the video follow up, but I also feel like many people don't understand that for those who focus on CPU-heavy, high FPS situations you don't need a high end GPU especially for online competitive multiplayer games where input latency is king. Increasing graphics fidelity puts more strain on the GPU where as lower settings can push more frames through the pipeline and ultimately result in a CPU bottleneck as long as the GPU is good enough to keep up with that type of setting situation. Nice to see a higher end GPU with a follow up, but I don't think of this necessarily as a mistake. Perhaps focusing on games in that type of situation to gauge if (the ASUS TUF) 360 AIO is good enough to keep a 14900K cool. Some would go as far as to disable the E-cores and ramp up the P-Cores and Ring Clock as well and you could have tested that with how far the chip could go. Either way, thanks for your hard work and keep it up!

    • @ErockOnTech
      @ErockOnTech  4 месяца назад

      You’re right and I agree. We sadly have become too conditioned as a community to only see the top of the line GPUs paired with the top of the line CPUs. It basically leaves no room for anything in between. But the reality of the situation is most gamers can’t afford the high end stuff. So there is a lot of room for mismatching parts sort of speak.

    Hello
    I have TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS D4 motherboard and just got the I9 14900k, i did the stettings in bios as you say. but wehn i run cinebench i can see i use 352w in HWiNFO64 do you have a idea why? My bios version is 1641

    • @ErockOnTech
      @ErockOnTech  3 месяца назад

      Make sure your bios is up to date for that specific motherboard. You have to get the bios update from the Asus website. Then load optimized defaults. Then go to asus Multicore enhancement and change it to Enforce all limits. At that point, the 14900K should not exceed 253w.

    • @ErockOnTech
      @ErockOnTech  3 месяца назад

      Worst case scenario, you can always force a wattage limit in the bios. You’ll need to google how to do that though as I’m not sure exactly where that setting is on that board.

    good video overall, although if you wanted to see the cpu's max capabilities/temps within games you'd have to make sure the GPU is under used, I feel this is why you were getting people spewing about the 3070, though realistically nobody with this chip would play games lower than 1080p anyways unless It's CSGO or some esports tittle, just do your own thing regardless of negative comments, they fail to see a different perspective to their own.

    please test cinebench but don't disable the multicore by setting the default bios, it's only 250watt, it should be up to 300watt more, I want to see what temperature is achieved, don't just test the game, because the CPU load usage is not 100%

    I don't see what the problem is with the TUF AIO review.... If you always do the same thing every time you test other AIOs. What does it matter if you put 1.4V or 1.35 or push the cpu to the limit? What matters is that you create a test that can be repeated by you so that we can see how the AIOs behave against each other.

    • @RKBenchmarker
      @RKBenchmarker 4 месяца назад +1

      You are correct. However, he pointed out 2 important issues with the last video:
      First, it is important to share the bios setting he changed, which limited the wattage to meet Intel's specs (253w) because this affects the max temp you will see. (And actually this is the correct action as each mobo manufacturer sets whatever they want in their bios to make the cpu run [faster] unlocked, thus trying to make their mobo look better than the competitors'.)
      Second: He compared it to another aio that maxed over 100c while his did only 92c. (The other aio's mobo was did not apply the wattage limit.) In so doing, he inadvertently implied that his reviewed aio was better - when in fact, it was his motherboard setting that kept the temps that "low".
      Once he realized this, he made this video for clarification and transparency and honesty purposes - qualities that I greatly admire about the man!

    I was one of those who pointed out mistakes on your previous take on this review and I appreciate the new video, you rock 🤘. However, one of my points still remains that the games benchmarked are still creating a bottleneck.
    You can see the GPU at 100% or close, while the cpu sits at 30% or so. This again, makes the gaming benchmarks not useful when the subject is the cooling performance, and not cpu performance. There's a lot of cpu coolers that can cool that same CPU just fine when it is at 30%.
    I would recomend that for future gaming benchmarks for CPU cooling performance to test games such as cities skylines or total war games. On the following link you will see an example of a cities setup where the CPU is actually being pushed hard and not bottlenecked by the GPU.
    ruclips.net/video/az7ZfVQZUGU/видео.html
    I hope that my input is useful for future reviews and can help distinguish your channel from the others as providing better quality content.

    • @ErockOnTech
      @ErockOnTech  4 месяца назад +1

      I appreciate the feedback. It was more important for me to clarify the bios and show how the previous temps were achieved than anything else. I never intended to make a second video to begin with. With that in mind, I don’t know how familiar you are with my channel. But I typically make GPU content. That is what I’m known for. The common theme I’ve noticed amongst gamers is usually we are worried about bottle necking the GPU. Not the CPU. If you see 100% GPU usage that is typically referred to as a good thing. Now all that aside for a moment. I ran synthetic benchmarks which is the absolute worse case scenario. No game will be worse than cinebench. Additionally, while 1080p is the dominant resolution, 1440p and 4K are on the rise. As gamers move away from 1080p, they will become more GPU bound. The load on the CPU will be less and less. Lastly, while City Skylines may be indicative of a good CPU test, it’s not indicative of what most gamers are playing. I’m not saying the game isn’t being played. But CyberPunk 2077 is by far one of the most popular games. I tested these two games to show a multi threaded game vs a lightly threaded game. You may not agree with my approach, but you can’t say I haven’t put some thought into it. Again, thank you for your feedback and I’ll consider this for future cooler reviews. Thank you.
