- In this clip from Friday's show, Kurt and Tyler talk about the realistic QB situation in Minnesota. Sam Darnold may be a "vet" but he's only 26 years old, and has had some time to sit since being shoved into the spotlight (prematurely)
Do the Vikings let Darnold take reign over their offense while McCarthy sits behind and learns for a bit? Let's discuss!

I usally like ur takes but you obviously dont pay attention to what the Vikings and i wish you would have spent at least another hour looking at what the Vikings have done this offseason before making this take this was embarrassing
Genuinely the dumbest take I’ve ever heard
I almost always expect good takes on this channel but I have to agree, this one is so tone-deaf it's baffling. Saying a QB was not the biggest need for the Vikings in the draft is ludacris. Sam Darnold is a bigger question mark than McCarthy imo - sure he has upside, but he has not had much success since being drafted.
Vikings defense giving up 50 a game???? Lol what? Na. Sure, losing hunter sucks. But. Retaining Flores, letting him get 'his guys'... Im not stressrd about that unit at all.
Ignores the fact JJ McCarthy is 21 and won a natty in his 20s so he doesnt have to start straight away
Ignores that he's going to be coached by Kevin O Conoll , QB coach of SB winning Rams team
Ignores the fact that with the 2nd pick of the first Round we got the best Edge Rusher in College in Dallas turner to a proven DC in Brain Flores.

The #1 Sports Podcast in defending Sam Darnold
Two things.
1. The statement that the Bears have a better roster than the Vikings is debatable at best and preposterous at worst
2. If Sam Darnold has a Baker mayfield year and gets paid next year, Vikings will happily take the 3rd round compensatory pick. No shot they pay him starter qb money when JJ can most likely can replicate the same results on a rookie pay scale
I don’t see a reason for JJ to start before the bye at the earliest. Year 2 ideally. Darnold might be a good bridge QB, but I don’t see a Drew Brees-like ascent that the Vikings will regret missing out on by starting fresh with JJ in 2025. If Darnold manages reaching Kirk Cousins level play, Minnesota has already shown that they’re willing to move off that level of mid range QB play and roll the dice on the potential to surpass that at the risk of being wrong. It’s becoming more and more untenable to be a part of the league’s middle class. The GM and HC would be wise to maximize the lead time they have to eventually take their best shot with JJ.
Darnold has been mediocre at best, and he is a fumbler, and he could easily get injured. Mccarthy has a chance to be great. Darnold is much better now, but I believe JJ will be much better by the beggining of next season. So I feel JJ was a great pick, with very high potential, and Darnold is just a stop gap, and he will be lucky to go 9-9 this year. The games they lose will be because Darnold is not good enough.
Unsubscribed. You dont even know if JJ signed an extension and you’re trying to talk about the Vikings situation? Laughable. Just do a quick google search next time before you get on a podcast
I was preparing to see Darnold put it together! They should have game him a chance and spent that pick elsewhere
