Ben Johnson turned down the Commanders because their Ownership acted weird reportedly then they decided to trash BJ publicly... then that same Ownership not long after Ben Johnson turned them down had Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, and JJ McCarthy all in at the same time for a pre draft dinner. That's not how other teams operate and Daniels felt slighted even though they ended up drafting him. If between Ben Johnson's comments on Ownership and that dinner doesn't confirm that Commanders ownership is unorthodox, I don't know what does.
I heard he wasn’t comfortable with a lot NBA people involved. I mean Josh Harris is a NBA owner. I think everyone is overthinking our ownership. This is his first go around in NFL. He has been trying to understand everything and be involved at least his first year with team. They already knew who they were drafting for a long time before that group visit at Top Golf.

I appreciate those that cover all the NFL but unfortunately you do not get in the weeds of a specific team. I wouldn't expect Ben Johnson to either. I am just going to say this Washington ownership is far better than you are giving credit to. They are measured and calculated. We may only see minimal improvement this year in win loss recordsas that's what the metrics say about such a large turnover in roster but I have no doubt about the long term success of this franchise. I would suggest the national media at least stop hating on Washington before they are proven wrong. If you do not believe me look not only to Adam Peters hire and what was done to hire him and put him in place, also look at the front office hirings since the NFL draft. They are (not so) quietly putting together a good front office and a talented coaching staff. The roster will follow.
I love being right. Especially when it comes to having a finger on the pulse of my favorite team and watching our OC stand in front of the world and tell everyone he's staying for all the reasons I gave the last 14 months. The sun is shining in Detroit, and it ain't going to stop anytime soon - get used to it.
I think Ben is just not head coach material - not everyone wants to be "management". He likes being the geeky OC. He is more of a follower than a leader. That is fine - no shame there.
The lions are going to be representing the Super Bowl this year in the NFC the offensive line is fantastic. They have weapons all over the place and their offensive coordinators a genius. The only thing I’m not a big fan of is dan going for it on 4th down so much in there pass defense other than that this team is loaded There going to get the #1 seed in nfc
Obviously the Lions are a great team and will make waves this season. Last year, everything fell into place. There is no guarantees the Lions will get the NFC championship or even win the division. The Lions were lucky last year in that, the Bears were not doing good, the Vikings had QB problems and were shooting themselves in the foot and the Packers were a young team figuring things out. Last year the Lions had the best opportunity to be the NFC North champs and the capitalized on it, but this year, isn't a cake walk for them. They have much harder schedule, there division rivals have made the necessary upgrades, and the Packers are not fooling around this year like they did last season. So yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the Lions make the wild card, and GB is the division champs and the Lions not making it back to the NFC championship. Last year was the golden opportunity, it's much harder for them this coming season.
Ummm what the bears have a losing record vs the lions under the brad ben dan regime and so the packers... lions weakness was the secondary.. the lions on paper upgraded it... and added dj reader on the d line with davenport which could be something if he plays lol...but we upgraded the secondary with man to man studs

I get why Ben Johnson stayed in Detroit. But the bottom line is that is not the mentality of a NFL HC. An NFL HC is a risk taker, a decision maker, and wants to run his own ship period. He would do anything to be a HC and has waited his entire career to reach the top and would not turn it down!
Lions had one good season and now their crazy fans think their impossible to beat. Their D was terrible last year. I'll give them the O was great, but let's get real here.
Here we go Mike Florio. Try and pull a negative spin on the narrative like the skins did something wrong. Ben Johnson messed up point blank Period. This past year could have been the highest stock he had. What if Lions fail for any reason, injury bug, other teams better, anything. Ben Johnson isn't going to get another opportunity with a franchise with the 2nd overall pick in a QB rich draft and a whole roster he can mold in his image with one of the top GMs in the league. Only time will tell what happens but he very well could have self sabotaged! Dan Quinn's tenure in Washington will ALWAYS be a "what could have been" for Ben Johnson. Aw well!
Totally disagree with their take. Saying, "I wanted to stay in the sunshine a little longer," is not what you want to hear from a potential HC candidate. That's fine from a player, but a coach should be of the mindset that he's going to go in and turn the ship around. If he had just said that he had unfinished business in Detroit, fine, but saying that he wanted to stay because it was sunnier in Detroit is weak.
you clearly don't listen very well. The Lions ownership just extended Dan Campbell's contract, they are coming off the Team's best record in their entire history. And you somehow think that this is the opportunity to get rid of the head coach and replace him with Ben Johnson?! You must be a Packers fan. Sorry dude, but you need to get used to losing the NFCN to the Lions a lot more over the next 5-10 years. “Not a real job”?
@@terencebarnes7393Top Golf is the shit and still considered a dinner even if you want to discredit it. And it was very weird. They have terrible ownership.
@@freedomthefreeman487 Naw the Panthers have terrible ownership. We just have new owners and people don’t know them and so them come up with their own ideas about Josh.
Everyone outside of who was actually involved have all the issues with it. Jayden had no issues his only question was wanting to talk to coaches about play book.
@@terencebarnes7393 tomato tomato. 😂 They both have bad ownership till proven otherwise.
Uggghh where is Chris 😢
As a commanders fan Florio is a hater. Hating on the lions and hating on the commanders 😂 hope we both prove him wrong
I don't get why Florio hates the Commanders so much. He said it himself that fans dont know what to expect with Harris, and yet hes out here talking about him and treating him as if he is Snyder 2.0. Try being unbiasrd just a little bit there, Mike.
The vikings wanted to be the new packers so bad, but theyre just not gonna 😂
Ben Johnson coming to buffalo next year if dabol dont get fired. If dabol fired look for the switch to buffalo but either way seans gone. They dont have the horses to make the playoffs. Jets will win the division make it to the afc championship game and loose to not sure who but place a bet im Psychic. Ive won a lot of people a lot of money. Thats my only free advise im giving
Agreed! Detroit deserves the same bs media love/support that was used to OVERhype and predict rodgers/farves 200-300 plus yard games☠️🤣
Mike Florio always has something negative to say about the Commanders!
Brian Johnson too
Dear Florio, stfu about politics. I watch this show every day to escape the bs that is our political and media climate.
Florio needs to stop checking his phone when he's doing these podcasts - it's rude, distracting and unprofessional 🤬
I feel Ben is being real when he says why he chose to stay in detroit
I think Ben is just not head coach material - not everyone wants to be "management". He likes being the geeky OC. He is more of a follower than a leader. That is fine - no shame there.
You might be right. Or perhaps he thinks he is not ready and still has things to learn. Regardless, I am happy he is back.
He might regret not leaving when he had the chance
He will always have a chance bc not every team can have a winning record every year
So he's the Bears next HC....
The lions are going to be representing the Super Bowl this year in the NFC the offensive line is fantastic. They have weapons all over the place and their offensive coordinators a genius. The only thing I’m not a big fan of is dan going for it on 4th down so much in there pass defense other than that this team is loaded
There going to get the #1 seed in nfc
He didn't want to be part of basketball team
But the Lions are much better now, they should have the same divisional record and a better overall record this year.
The Packers don’t have half the talent that the lions have.
Ummm what the bears
have a losing record vs the lions under the brad ben dan regime and so
the packers... lions weakness was the secondary.. the lions on paper upgraded it... and added dj reader on the d line with davenport which could be something if he plays lol...but we upgraded the secondary with man to man studs
Every time tiny little boy florio says something like "closing out that game was the easy part," I cringe so hard im about to lose teeth. Furthermore, yall keep spot lighting 6 words of a 750-word speech. Which i might add was not the point. The point was NOTHING IS PROMISED ONLY EARNED. Please stop clicking on this mans clips. He is a snake oil salesman who survives on propaganda. A broken clock is right twice a day, and that is how you describe little mikey florio.
You are a knock off Skip Bayless 🤦
I get why Ben Johnson stayed in Detroit. But the bottom line is that is not the mentality of a NFL HC. An NFL HC is a risk taker, a decision maker, and wants to run his own ship period. He would do anything to be a HC and has waited his entire career to reach the top and would not turn it down!
In typical Florio fashion finds a way to bash the commanders lol
Florio is a Zero and talks about Zero.....
Florio is so butthurt I cant even take him seriously 😒
Lions ain't making the playoffs
This is the lions last chance to fire the current head coach and lock down Ben Johnson asap
lmfao that would be a horrible idea
Please tell me your goal in life is to live on a deserted Island and kiss every fish in the ocean
@@brokentubing don't be mad when the lions don't make the playoffs 😂😂😂😂
you clearly don't listen very well. There is nothing you are going to be able to do about it, and the Lions aren't firing Campbell Holmes or letting go any of their best players. That's all shit from the past. Haha
I love when 🤡 's VERIFY they are 🤡's 😂
So basically, he's staying because of loyalty.🥹
