Here's the situation..Ben Johnson knows that he is on the verge of winning a Superbowl. If they win it this year, he probably will run it back and then take a HC job where his demand will be even higher. The media also knows that the Lions are on the verge of a historic run, and they wanted so bad to break it up and try to convince the Lions assistants to bail, get a HC job, probably be unsuccessful and the historic run of the Lions never happens. But this team from top to bottom is about to be something like we've never seen and the AC's are all in!!

"Leave something to mystery"? This guy clearly doesn't know how much of a circus has developed around Ben Johnson and his decision to stay. Ben just wants to call plays and win, and if that means giving a perfectly descriptive take on what he wants to do to shut people the hell up already, so be it. Who is the "verbal diarrhea" clown, anyway?

If I was an owner of an NFL team, I would hire Ben Johnson in a heartbeat, If he would take it. I would appreciate his honesty, his conviction, and the fact that he is all in when he says he’s all in.
He also alluded to the fact that he will grow in his capacity to coach an NFL team by waiting and that he is in no rush. He is only 38 years old.

The thing about Dan, Brad, Shiela, AG, Ben, basically the entire organization, is they are honest and they will never throw a player or one another under the bus. This organization is full of smart, honest, people dedicated to one thing. Bring home a Lombardi for the fans of Detroit. And sometimes they have to explain to local media, who are very very good for the most part, and SOL fans, what it’s like to be a well run successful organization with coaches that teach players how to perform at an elite level. A lot of fans have never seen this before. And when you’re part of a great organization, relish it, embrace it, enjoy the ride, live in the moment. Just moving on to move on is not a smart move. And besides he’s seen how much work it takes to turn around an organization first hand. And it’s a team effort. It takes a large staff and a lot of contacts to build that organization. From a practical side, Ben needs to interview for head coaching jobs to prepare to be a successful head coach. And honestly, he’s interviewing the owners and their organization just as they are interviewing him. Btw, Julian you get it, 🎯💯 😉😉😉😉

What most people fail to realize about Computer Science schooling - is we often encapsulate things within other things ... This was an interview, this was flexing, this was creating confidence in future owners to hire this guy because he's calculated and well planned - and assigning and setting variables up for the future... This was genius by Ben Johnson - everything he said was precisely articulated based on a premeditated plan - exactly as he intended. Verbal diarrhea? The guy who said that isn't at the level of someone who owns an NFL football team nor does he have the aptitude those who hire Head Coaches maintain. He's simply in a different class - quite literally... Ben Johnson runs what I call the If This Then That Offense and I nearly want to create a channel just to follow and show how he's changing football...

Sure, you can take the bag of money, be a whipping boy for 3 years, and get canned like 70% of coaches do... or you can vet the organization and pass. I think it's really smart what he's doing. I wish I had done that with a couple of jobs I've had.

I think Ben Johnson is going to be the Lions OC for the foreseeable future. I think DC Aaron Glenn will be around for a couple of more years. Both of them want to be the next HC in Detroit bu it will likely be Ben Johnson that will be able to stick around long enough to wait out Dan Campbell. Aaron Glenn is considerably older than Ben Johnson so his window of opportunity to become a HC is considerably shorter than Ben Johnson's. I suspect AG will be around this year and next year, even if the Lions win the SB this year. AG is a shrewd customer; most DC's who win a SB think their max worth is at it's apex and will jump right into a HC position the very next year. I think if the Lions win the SB this year AG's gonna look around and say, "ya know what, the Lions have the best shot at winning the SB next year too". What do you think AG's worth as a HC would be if he wins two SB's in a row? I think AG would be able to command a lot more money and maybe some level of control over player personnel decisions. Ben Johnson is in his 30's, he loves play calling as an OC so he can continue to do what he loves to do for as long as he wants. I suspect if Johnson is still here in 3 years the Lions will slap him with the Associate HC title and they'll probably pay him as well as some HC's around the league. GM Brad Holmes and Owner Sheila Hamp - (Thank God she dropped Ford from her name) - want him to stay too. Looking at the owner, the GM and front office, the Coaches and the Players, its pretty easy to see the Lions are set up for a very long run of success.
