This is a great showcase of the game! The game has its downsides but the gameplay is hella fun, flashy, and cool.
If anyone wants to argue against that, then they better send a link to a gameplay that has:
- magic
- multiple elements
- magic combos
- fast dodgy gameplay (not a standing long casting mage)
- flashy and cool

The reviewers literally didn’t take the time to learn the game and probably played on easy with all the assists available. I don’t think any other game compares to the freedom and amount of tools in the battle system this game offers.
@@Cal3000 Most of the reviewers said 12 hrs playthroughs, which means either they didn't finish it (remember they didn't get early copies so the were all rushing to get a review out) or they didn't actually invest in unlocking and leveling. Hell, the first section alone takes 10 hrs to unlock and upgrading the first set of powers.

Same thing happened with kingdoms of amalur. you had to understand the flow of one move into the next, or else it was just a janky slasher.

This did far more hyping for the game than anything I seen on twitter for it. Only twitter videos I seen hurt the game more than help. You actually made this seem like it could be fun. Square should consider paying you for more vids like this

Twitter? Why would you base your opinion of a game from some clip on twitter? There are plenty of promotional material and in depth previews available on youtube for at least 7 months now. Granted, they could've been more aggressive with the marketing. But all the info was there, and wasn't hard to find. Sure, you had to navigate through the "dIaLoGuE Is CrEngy and It'S WoKe tRash" content creators first, but it was there. THEN you would've been able to form your own opinion. A lot of what is shown in this video has been shown months ago.
@@Dredgen-Yor The clips I'm seeing on twitter is from Square, not just some random content creators. I didn't even know about this game until I saw their clips on twitter. I wasn't going out to look for this game, it just popped up on my feed, and I'm pretty sure that's the case for alot of people discovering this game. And what they showed did not paint the game in the good light. Their big gameplay trailer was full of terrible dialogue and didn't do a good job of show casing the combat. My opinion is my own, and I formed it based on what Square showed off.

Sadly one of the things that killed this games is the marketing team they are terrible at promoting this game. I guarantee you this game is gonna be loved in the future.

Dude, I saw big time names complaining about how boring this game was while all they were doing was spamming the main attack and doing one damage at a time. This makes me want to buy the game off combat alone, I don't like the story or characters much. Thank you for this showcase!

Most people complained about the story and the terrible optimization on PC and yeah the combat looks great but I personally wouldn’t spend $70 on just a game who’s only good quality is the combat

Heck, even i think Final Fantasy 12 come out in year 2006 has better ai than this. Final Fantasy 12, give me good memories to this day. Good story, good gameplay, very heavy lore. This forspoken looks so low grade compared.

Thank you so much. This is a game with a lot of depth to the combat system, and I strongly feel a lot of reviewers rushed through the game and didn’t enjoy the combat as a result.
My experience with the game feels so different from everything I read and heard.

@@ori4192 Nowadays? not at all no its just a waste of time. If a game world is basically just checklist style gameplay- do the same repetetive thing for 50hours its not a good game. Not even a decent combat system helps then. Especially not when the story and writing is extremely awkward and not done well at all

@@cultofdis Demo failed it too, gave too much all at once and quite a few folks couldn't wrap their head around it. I played the demo myself and took time learning how to weave attacks with each other, which is what made me buy the game.
Marketing focused heavily on the wrong things and highlighted "cringe" moments that ended up being taken out of context. Should've instead focused on the combat. Coulda easily grabbed a few of the youtubers that were showcasing how cool the combat actually is and made official ads from their content but nope.
Just got a sub out of me. The number of complaints I've seen people making about the combat system have me scratching my head. The combat is super deep and varied if you take the time to learn it. Awesome vid

@@xiiir838 I feel as a reviewer if they don't want or have the time to master its system that should be addressed about the many the options in her abilities. It does a disservice to just use the earth and fire elements than proceed to dunk on its combat like thats all thats left
But the main complaint, even from those who didn't take the time to master the combat, is that the combat is _too easy_
Now, if they say it's easy without having taken the time to learn it in depth, than how much easier would it be after learning?
@@ceetruth4709 I've seen a select few folks saying fights are easy. I agree with that sentiment, which is why I play on hard difficulty. However, I've seen more complaining that the combat system is shallow or generally lacking and that statement I find to be 100% false.
The combat is very deep and abilities are all quite unique. Putting together combos using abilities from different elements is fun and quite satisfying. This isn't the type of game where you're going to get Dark Souls/Elden Ring level difficulty where memorizing attack patterns is paramount and that's okay. The game isn't Elden Ring and doesn't try to be. It's much too fast paced for that anyway.
Note: not saying you're expecting it to be like Dark Souls/Elden Ring. Just used that as an example because of the people I've seen complain about the combat system being too simple usually lean on Souls-like games as the standard
but all the compaints i've seen were from people that found the game too easy, not that it isnt fun. They say that even if you're braindead you can 100% the game in hard mode. Like a guy that his first playthrough was on hard mode and he didnt die once, only the enemies were spongy and had a million health, so he basically had to hit them for 20 minutes and dodge, it seemed super boring.

Yes! I was like, am I the only one who used all4 skill trees and used every spell under the sun in rapid succession? Or did everyone hold down R2 and wait 20k years for the enemy to finally die? Lol
Even the clips and reviewers complaining about it showed gameplay that seemed so contradictory to their claims. Good to see someone put in the time and show off what the game can REALLY do though; THIS looks like what they tried to show off leading up to release.
They honestly need to hire you for maximum display of a game’s combat. Reminds me of Black Mage from final fantasy. A walking turret of destruction in the right hands.👌🏽

I got this at the same time as the big reviewers, but, my reviews can't compete even close in views. So, I often do something different instead for launch.

@@xiiir838 not playing on easy on rushing through. The game at the beginning asks the player their play style. I have a feeling reviewers picked story driven option which made the combat a lot easier. The other options are balanced and gameplay driven. Japanese players that usually focus on gameplay are raving about the combat system.
@@xiiir838 @Cal3000 said it perfectly. Reviewers play game on easy mode and blitz through the game. Even on easy mode they still have crappy gameplay. People like @Boomstick Gaming play the game well, and to it's fullest potential which shows the true challenge and entertainment the game can offer. I, myself, finally beat the game on hard mode and loved every minute of it "I died a lot lol". Frey is an awesome and well fleshed out protagonist, I love her to death.
Feels like a game where I'll want to set the difficulty to high, so I'm forced to make the most of the mechanics.
You should always play on hard, for that very reason. Classic example, Witcher 3. It didn’t even keep in with the lore of preparing for your fight unless you played hard mode.
@@RhubarbRehab Yeah, W3 made me use every tool in the toolbox, as well as the prep before the big battles. Felt true to form and made every fight a big deal.

After the first few hours it also holds your hand waaaay less. I spent a lot of time smash my face into rocks trying to figure out my powers. Lot of f-ing around to find out happening. Sorry Frey.

I said the same thing in my vid on IG about reviewers, they dont know what they we're talking about. GREAT MONTAGE !!
The game isn’t the best but it’s nowhere near as bad as these “reviewers” are making it out to be. It has its flaws but every game has them, the combat is very fun and intuitive and also please don’t pay attention to the reviewers complaining about the game length. If you bum rush through the main story and don’t explore or do any side missions of course it will be short. I’ve heard with exploration and side quests this game can take you around 35-40 hours to beat which is not bad at all.
Many have said the side missions are repetitive and are simply there to make the game longer, they were that bad

The map if fukun huge. I spent the whole day exploring 1-2 areas completing nodes

This game is very bad, terrible becoz of some very important reasons. They gone woke and eliminate their home market. We expect Square enix to make a game cater for Japanese adults not some fanatic on twitter!? Yeah u got good spells so what? Where are the jiggle physics brests? Where are they butt nice ass? Where is the sweet asian girl face? We dont wanna some black girl? There are no black girl in Japan?! Just u guys check out older Square enix female protagonists. We have Tifa from Ff7 remake. Tifa is hot, nice ass, looks asian, big breasts. Have some movements that show upskirt. Hey Yuffie is also hot too, but shes only 16. That ones are "Asian" games standard for the normal Japanese dude. We play games to see nice ass, not this kinda ugly.

In spite of other things reviews have highlighted, I feel like if they actually nailed the visual consistency and clarity in this game, made it an actual technical showcase like initially promised, it would have reviewed quite a lot better. I feel like the graphic engine can't keep up with the spectacle they want to convey and they made some weird art choices.
An engine can keep improving and become up to date as long as you allocate resources for it. It is not that engine can't keep up but the staff having hsrd time on it. One thing i wanna note though, the game looks gorgeous if we consider some aspects. But it fails to deliver in others.
FF15 looks better, that is the issue

Finally someone who actually played the game! And isn’t going by what they heard online. Reviewing bombing killed this game like so many good games.
This is how it looks when I play it too! I put 18 hours in and finished the main story, my wife is also obsessed with the game and many hours in, and we're sitting here wondering "Why is everyone bitching about it online? Why do all the vids show people trying to play it slow like a Souls game?"
This deserves a cheesy slow clap that gradually gets to roaring applause. BSG made it look so beautiful and elegant yet scary
This really showcases the animation quality and fluidity and damn those magic fx!

I've seen all the bad reviews but was still really interested in this game. Decided to buy it and make my own decision. Although some of the more general things could use a little work, especially when you're in safe areas, when you're in open world it's really good. The fight mechanics are really good and a bit different to others. Purposefully tried to stay away from build guides until Id got a bit further in but it's pretty obvious most reviewers have not didn't any time actually learning the game. I'm having immense fun binding groups and then destroying them with flaming death (weird how no matter what game you play.... nothing seems to like being set on fire....lol). Really don't think this game deserved all negative comments.
Gamespot said combat is boring. Even the lowest review on metacritic lower then Gamespot said "The combat system in forspoken is solid".
There's so much mindless hate around the game that people will make crap up and hate on things that were actually done well in the game.😌

Fantastic, I just love this game and I have been playing ever since Sunday, January 22nd because I pre-ordered it. This is exactly how to play this game and it is is very fun and a blast to play. Once you understand the combat system (it is not hard really, actually intuitive), then the combat just flows and is great fun. Thank you Boomstick Gaming for this wonderful video.
This one of the most underrated games in years. It is actually amazing... and here is your proof. But then you have the amazing traversal and gorgeous world with incredible atmosphere as well. Furthermore, the hate for Frey is also ridiculous. She is plenty likable and relatable, especially if you have ever been through a hard time in your life and have dreamed of being able to get away and fulfill your talents, be appreciated, etc.
No. No they were not using the combat system correctly. (Or taking the time to actually play beyond the demo or intro of the game).

Came BACK to this video to say that CC combo at 1:45 is one of the most badass attacks I've seen in a game like this. Anthem and DMC5 did a decent job too but that was friggin cool to watch

Exactly why I really can't trust 100% reviewer's take on combat. They among other responsibilities do not have to take a combat system to the edge. They review it at a high level and say "yeah there is depth" but never really explore it because they have to play the next game.,

Nope! They weren't! My team had almost the same combat experience that you just displayed. We got hit more, but we only had three hours with it too. This combat system is so good. However, a big ego and short patience can make a critic act in ugly ways to create an unjustified boycott of a title they wanted to hate from the beginning. Bravo for the showcase! This is peak gaming!

The gameplay mechanics were really well designed. The developers give you 3 different ways (off the top of my head) to rapidly switch between spells depending on the flow of combat using a controller.

The more I hear about Forspoken, the more I compare it to FFXV and its release.
Other than optimization and performance issues, the big comparison really comes to the combat. Most people chalk up XV's combat as "hold the attack button to win", but there's so many combat mechanics baked into the game like directional attacks and airstepping that makes it so much more fun than people make it out to be, which really just stems from the fact that both people are bad at experimenting and the game poorly explaining and not elaborating on mechanics.
I see the exact same thing with Forspoken where reviewers don't really understand the combat well thanks to the lack of explanation, where just acknowledging how different moves work could make a ton of difference

My dude is a God! I need to practice more combat to really appreciate it. Will need to progress more. I'm already loving the game, but I need to finish another game first. This game deserves full attention to make the most of it. It's nice to see someone show appreciation and show off the true potential of this game instead of jumping the trashing train.

Thank you. Truly. The reviewers were literally garbage at the game and said “mechanics are repetitive”… dudes were literally clueless and should hand their job over to you.
We need more games with nuanced combat systems like this.
They should've sent reviews and have the people who review combat games like DMC and Nioh to review this game.
Forspoken demo was released as the game director said himself "to display combat mechanics" that's it nothing else!
Playing those games you know off the bat story takes a back seat. Which the story isn't bad either it's either average or above average....Passable.
At least you also did the correct spell too, silencing their dialogue lol.

@msanonymous6365 it doesn't matter if you're playing at home on your own time. If you watch a review and the reviewer did not understand the game mechanics and reviewed the game based on their gameplay and experience, are you really getting an accurate view of the combat, movement, etc... when I watch this gameplay and see how the movement and combat flow together it looks fun.
If all reviewers are using the combat system wrong, thats an issue with the combat system or the explanation thereof.
Nope. Folks just can’t read, unwilling to read, and pay attention. I played all the way to Sila castle, and the gave me lots of time to learn how to use Frey’s magic. Through out the way, they sprinkle in tutorials, tool tips, texts, to help you expand. If you failed to do so, that’s on you.
Where do you guys do prime knockdown mastery? It is my only purple magic quest left and I cannot find a way to finish it.

I feel like this game will get a bigger audience than some reviews would indicate. I'm not knocking on reviews who didn't like it since we all have different tastes but I feel like players who enjoy a more mechanical depth will enjoy a game like this more. This may be this generation's dragon's dogma
Gameplay. GAMEPLAY will ALWAYS speak louder and clearer than any pretentious, vainglorious blowhard review pandering to whatever hate mongering is trending with the bandwagon groupthink/herd mentality hate mob. RUclips needs more videos like this.
This game is gonna be heralded as an underrated Gem...People like to pick the negatives (yes writing seems forced to try and be natural but I excuse because this is an isekai) but the combat of this game is like its basically Infamous and gravity rush successor
Just send in 10 + magic at the same time on a hoard of enemies and killed em less then 30 seconds and my jaw just dropped by the time I realized it , it was too late to record so I google and popped up your video ,,, make me wana learn more combo's

It’s intuitive once you understand the mechanics. There’s depth to the combat & strategy. When u combine it with traversal it’s awe inspiring.

How did you get that crazy height during combat at 1:41? Is that part of the latter 3 magics learned from the Tantas or am I just missing something?
It’s from tanta prav’s magic. Once you unlock her magic it should be available to earn in the skill tree.

I just unlocked her magic. I see it's one of the moves for quickly changing magic types.
Sadly the animation keeps me from utilizing it in traversal though.

When you are using Flow w your combat its tough to put down…Its pretty addicting.
I was looking foward to this game from the first trailer. The demo was a let down for me. But I still purchased it because it offered something interesting for me and: I know that many games that seem weird in its way can often really grow on you after spending bit of time with it. So the beginning of the game definitely has its flaws but Ince you get to the first city and the tutorial basically ends so you actually get to play the real game it pretty much clicks and the game is much better then the general opinion makes it seem
Just play it how you want to play it not how someone else does I mean the video does help a bit but some don't play that way so lol
I think that group think is a severe problem for the gaming/game reviewer community. I even see comments being made after the reviewers words. I only saw reviews that showed how bad the game is & to avoid the game. Now I see this and it looks DOPE! Sure, the reviewers’ points on the story/writing may be valid to an extent, but the combat man, damn… 👍🏼
