I’m glad they put Nathan on a 72 hr hold. He definitely needs help with his mental health. Kudos for them realizing that.

it’s heartbreaking honestly when it comes to Nathan. I know what it’s like to have mental illnesses. people think you’re crazy & they don’t try to understand people like us with these types of mental illnesses so we just go completely downhill. sometimes, the only time people believe that person whether it’s their friend, relative, spouse, sibling, whoever they are to those people, when the realization of something is actually wrong with them is when something HORRIBLE happens to them & it’s too late. It’s sad. I have a wonderful husband & a beautiful little boy that have truly saved me from a lot of darkness in my life before I had them. I have a wonderful doctor that helps me with my mental illnesses & I also have the best therapist I could ever ask for. Mental Illness is NO JOKE. we NEED to start coming together instead of bullying, bashing one another & turning our heads when we see something happening & nobody helps. this world isn’t the same with all of the violence etc. going on & bringing back some support & love would be a wonderful start to bettering this world & humanity.

I've never been to a jail or known of a jail allowing inmates to keep wigs. I'm surprised they let the first inmate keep that wig they had on lol.

Looks like they’re able to look so “patient” because they take the opportunity every chance they get to use force on the inmates. It’s easy when you blow off steam periodically. They love them some pain compliance techniques in the jail…

The state of the mental health system sounds pretty messed up in the United States. For the nurse to say he is going to a place where at least he will be “Safe for the rest of the night”. As it turns out, it’s a 72 hour hold, still the question still remains the same, what happens to people like Nathan, the state of people’s mental health is a huge problem here in Australia too, no one knows what to do with people like Nathan that, don’t fit the bill, don’t Have a place to go, a place to live, can’t hold down a job because of his state. The mental health system here in Australia is a joke and what's worse is the police target the ones with mental health issues.
i know but to be honest its a terrible world . if you know hes kinda bright but has mental issue i rather be placed in a mental institute then homeless in the street, not knowing whether id be dead or beaten and robbed . mother is just weak and dosent know how to handle a disabled child.

And we have Ronald Reagan to thank for closing down all the mental institutions throwing patients in the community to fend for themselves which caused the homeless community to explode.
The problem is here in the US in the 1980s Reagan cut funding for mental health 80% and all the amazing residential facilities closed almost overnight and they were all sent onto the streets where they remain today. I saw it first hand, it was horrible. 72 hours is not enough for those who need daily care. These residential facilities were like apartments where they had a nurse and every patient got their meds they had a place to stay and they had counseling. It was a lot cheaper to do it that way then it is today where we're throwing them all in jail or the streets where they do crime and street drugs making the problem much worse and costs a lot more. Sad now because we're also having so much gun violence so now the treatment is even more desperately necessary.

A drunk woman driver who hit a fire hydrant near my home recently was arrested at her house.
They followed the fluids from the vehicle as she went home.

12:41 this guy acts sooo much like my step aunt who has been institutionalized for manic bipolar and schizophrenia.... ESPECIALLY the part he talks about his mother using him as an experiment. SO sad.. .my aunt believes to this day her father was trying to kill her. My grandpa was wrecked because of his daughter.. he tried everything. It's heartbreaking.
Paranoid schizophrenia runs in my family. My grandmother and mother were diagnosed. My older brother however refuses to get any help. He's not a bad dude, he'd give you the shirt off his own back. But even though he's an otherwise okay person he acts aggressive towards people because if someone was stealing your clothes, money, hacking your phone, spying on you and trying to control you then you'd be mad too. Obviously no one is actually doing those things to him but those are facts to him and it's impossible to convince him otherwise.
It's an extremely difficult situation to deal with. He thinks my nephew (his son) is a clone and for a while we thought he was a threat to his safety so now he can't even go around his son. Despite numerous police reports, him being captured on body cam saying insane stuff and what not we still can't get the state to force him into treatment.
As horrible as it sounds it's getting to the point where he is becoming more of a risk to himself and others. At least if he gets put in an institution he might have a chance but it still brings with it a lot of guilt. It's rough. I'm sorry. I know how it feels.

It's so sad, yes Nathan is mental. And when you hope the cops will take your son to a mental hospital, but they just take you to jail and put them in mental lockup with no meds.

My cousin at 7 could do math I still can’t do today. He skipped high school and went straight to taking the GED and getting a college scholarship… it took work with the other social things but he now is the GM at Apple and creates apps for companies, writes codes and is an absolute amazing kind hearted soul and I love him

The "Child of god" guy is Evan Lockwood who had tiny bit parts in two movies and a one time credit on the TV show I'll Fly Away in 1991 and never acted again. He played the role of Tim in Fried Green Tomatoes. I love that movie and just rewatched it 6 months ago. I have no idea who Tim is!!

Taught my kids nothing good happens after mudnight. No bars or nightclubs. Nothing but trouble. Drink at home go to bed. Dont give the police trouble. Plus they remember their field trip on a Saturday at 2 a.m. in San Francisco watching people like this. I brought a snack but my 8 year old giving me lip got the point. In 5 minutes we left as he was crying hisceyeballs out with snot running outta his nose. The Sgt said he wished more parents would let their kids see the real world. My kids and i never been in jail. Thank you police for protecting us❤ ..

Mental illness is not a crime. (But a crime is a crime) Just no easy solution. Street/Jail Police are not trained to deal with it. I understand. I respect they had a mental health professional evaluate him and make a recommendation. Schizophrenia is a sad disaster. I dated a good woman with it (in my untrained opinion.) I had to let her go.
In areas with lots of mental illnesses the cops either have training or learn on the job real quick.
