Is the quality leap really that huge? I just read that the Sony Venice Camera is rented for 1200.- Euro / day. Yesterday a broadcaster had made a concert recording. Of course they had the highest quality equipment (4 Sony 4K cameras). I then asked a cameraman what resolution they would record. The answer was, in 1920x1080, so Full HD and not in 4K. If I imagine how many people now sell their Sony FS100 and Panasonic AG AF101 almost very cheap in ebay to buy one with 4K (I own a SonyFS700 including 4K update), I can only wonder.
More light gets on the sensor, regardless of resolution, so perhaps the dynamic range will be better in the future. I think that it is a style choice over resolution. Also I'm sure the manufacturers love to sell a new set of Full Frame lenses.
@@AlexDerrick_DP yeah don't talk about cinema if you are from photography with so much confidence cause you just said something wrong with a lot of confidence.
I think you meant to say, "wider focal length." Obviously if you want the same look on differently sized formats, you'll want to have the same field of view.
A bit strange they call something "large format" that's like the quarter of the size of 70mm film. Also, the term "large format" already has a specific meaning in photography (e.g. 4"x5"), so it's a bit of a shame to be reusing the same terminology for something a fraction of the size.
Hi, I haven't had an experience with the new Blackmagic Pocket, 4k, however, I have color timed BCPCC, Ursa and ursa mini footage, my opinion is that the RAW video format is not as robust as Arri Red or Sony. Thanks.
I've worked with the A7Sii, with color and have not had the same issues with blackmagic cameras, I know you can can get excellent results from the Black Magic cameras and the prices are great, I have had issues with them overstating the dynamic range of these cameras, QC issues with sensors and the raw color is best when it is match to and difficult to match to others.

Wider field of view and fast glass can deliver the same FF look on S35. Nor did they say that FF glass is much more expensive.
LOL, are you coming from sound department?

I'm sorry but can you explain to me what are you on about BMPCC4k having not a good 12bit raw? To which camera are you comparing?

Comparing to Arri and Red is not fair these cameras are on different price range... Which Sony did you compared to FS5?
