I’m in the UK so I don’t have an iconic American car in mind (although the original mustangs are pretty cool). However in terms of iconic British Cars for me it will always be the classic Mini. I had one as my first car (sadly rolled it within 6 months 😭) and 20 years later I’m determined to get another one when I have the spare money and a garage to store it. When I do that thing is gonna be detailed within an inch of its life 😂. For now my car is a 2006 Yaris with 116,000 miles on the clock but it’s proving a very good learning car for trying detail things on without worrying too much about any potential damage I might do. When DIY Detail products hit the UK I’ll be trying out polishing for the first time on it as watching the Gold Standard system makes me feel comfortable doing so.
Pro Tip - wash with the sponge or decontamination towel the lower parts (ie rocker panels, wheel well openings, etc) AFTER you have washed the hood and sides of the car. This way you have less chance of carrying the dirtier area’s debris to the upper parts of the car.
Uggg I got one of those dusters. Used it lots when I digest got my brand new Jeep. It worked great to keep it clean after a rain storm. But now I know a lot better. Better to do a quick rinseless wash then a dusting. I’m going to toss mine. I’ll also be polishing with gold standard to fix my past mistakes.
Keep up the ‘full videos’ of doing cars. I love the process and detailed description of the steps. I also like the small talk between those steps. Let’s see you wash a minivan.
Would you guys ever consider putting product in store somewhere? I would love to be able to run out an pick up some DIY detail stuff if I was running low.
Once you polish a car and apply one of your ceramic coatings, is there any reason to polish again before the end of the ceramic coatings intended life (3, 5, or 8 yrs) if it is well maintained with weekly hand washes, water spot remover and iron remover as needed and perhaps topped off with ceramic gloss every couple months? Will polishing with the gold standard diminish some of the ceramic coating? Thanks!
You might decide to do a light polish if you get some stubborn water spots or swirls and scratches. If you do a super light polish, you can just finish with Ceramic Gloss. If you feel like you've really been grinding in there, it might be a good idea to re-coat.
@@diydetailofficial sounds great, I'd prefer not to polish again, to me that would negate the benefit of such a great long term coating 🙂 just wanted to make sure it wasn't needed to maintain the properties of the coating through the years. 👍
I did my first ceramic coating kast weekend using various diydetail products and i absolutely love them. If you're not sure about buying it i haghly recommend diydetail. Since I'm in Mexico i would love to see you guys ship internationally
Great video guys. Can't wait to apply this to the truck this weekend. (minus the ceramic coating) Waiting on my All Clean and Gold Standard wool and waffle pads to arrive. As always go team mullet.
Does the heat affect the bond of the coating at all? Not direct sunlight, I ceramic coated my vehicle in my garage in the evening with the door up but the garage was definitely warm from the heat earlier in the day which shortened the flash time dramatically
New to your channel and love all the DYI videos. Can you tell me about your products as far as environmental safety. My home is on our own private well and no sanitary sewer. My concern is the chemicals leaching down into my well. Can't find anything on your website. My first order should be here soon cant wait!
With the minimal amount of product used, not a concern. When you have a DIY Detail product in hand you can scan the qr code to see all the SDS information.
Great stuff guys. I applied a coating to my daily driver and did pretty much the same process. Wash, clay with iron remover, acid based soap foam Carpro Descale) and wipe in. Then panel prep and good to go. Also I love my Ryobi 760 cfm leaf blower for drying 😁
Hi again, this video was extremely helpful! Do you recommend using the water spot remover and eventually panel prep on the wheels before ceramic coating them as well?
I have a 2003 C5 Speedway White Corvette. It has a marring type issue on the lower back driver side corner, it looks it may have been created by the factory GM non-lined cover. Recommended steps and product to correct the paint?
Every time I see Nick bending down to hit a wheel, I can feel it in my knees. There was a time when I could do that, too. One gets older and it's not necessarily a pretty picture. If you don't mind my saying, perhaps introduce the use of a rolling stool to your audience. Saves knees and backs, and makes life easier all around.
I ceramic coated a brand new toyota without polishing. Car landed at dealer, I told them not to wash it, I picked up car and brought it straight home. Washed, decontaminated(had lots of metal dispite bring brand new), IPA spray, then cermaic coated. Yes there were some paint problems from the factory, not a big deal for me. Its a toyota, wasnt worth spending hours polishing. I just wanted to coat the car right away.
This was a very informative video, thank you! One question, if you don't have a way to touch less dry the vehicle would you re-wet the surface with rinseless and then dry with a towel or will that interfere with the ceramic coating?
yeah you can use Rinseless Wash or Panel Prep at that stage. Might want to be patient and give the car time to drip before ceramic coating application, however
If I don’t have foamer, will it still be effective to spray on the All Clean, let it dwell, then spray on rinse less, then agitate with the legacy sponge while contact washing?
Spray on All Clean, let dwell, then rinse, then spray on Rinseless let dwell rinse then spray on Rinseless again and contact wash:) a lot of steps but this helps ensure it all gets super clean
I've also decided to not polish my car first, but this is a personal decision. I do think the car will see a polisher around the 3 year mark, so I'll just live with the few imperfections I have and put a 3 year coating on because of how closely you have to look to find them on this metallic silver paint.
Even if the car was brand spanking new there would still be swirls and blemishes from factory. Never seen a car without them new. I’d still polish at all times before a coating

Yes, decontamination is still important
Is there a time limit on rinseless wash in a pump sprayer?
No it will be good for months

Yes, absolutely
If I've been using Ceramic Gloss on my vehicle, would All Clean be able to remove that too? Or would Ceramic Gloss _require_ machine polishing?
If it’s fresh, it will need to be polished. After 3-4 months DIY Detail All Clean should remove it.
