Happened to take the car into the dealership the next day for servicing and the guy at the dealership called me to ask me what did I use on the car to make the paint SO SMOOTH. He said he had never felt such slickness on paint before!

    Show the so called "waffle Towel" up close ?
    A waffle is as it says!
    Exactly like the Waffle pad you use to polish paintwork on a machine !
    What you are using is called a Micro Fibre drying towel !!!
    Unless I am wrong and you don't show the viewers what you are using close up , well then its a Micro Fibre Towel or drying towel.
    Be honest with your Viewers instead of a wide angle video so they ALL understand.

    • @diydetailofficial
      @diydetailofficial  8 месяцев назад

      Yes it’s a micro fibre towel. The weave of the fabric is called a waffle weave, because it looks like a waffle. There are also twist loop weave drying towels, Pearl weave, terry weave, triple split, and diamond weave .

    WOW.. I have been watching a lot of your videos and this one is so awesome. As a newbie of course I have several questions so please hang with me:
    If you are going to use the foam as lube to wash.. do you need the bucket of suds?
    I see you use iron remover on windows.. what about plastic trim?
    Are you drying, spray ceramic gloss then wipe or spraying the gloss on the wet surface then drying
    Final question, I don't have a garage and always work in a shade.. but I assume I would not leave on foam etc. sitting on the car quite as long as you did.
    Thanks!!!!!

      If doing a 2 foam wash, a bucket is optional.

    Just used my water spot removal from you guys and shoooooot - it legit works. Not that I doubted but, first time you never know.
    Did a 1k trip and days of touge on my miata. Plus pollen season and rain for days after. Rinsed, incredi suds w/safe sponge, rinse, water spot w/agitation, rinse and bam. After the first soap stage just sheeting or very clogged effects. After the water spot chemical and agitation I could see it fighting back even then. During rinse it was like day 1 coating.
    Very impressive real world.

    do any ceramic coating products layer (or stack) on top of each other? Or do you always have to high-speed polish off the old ceramic coating before you add a new one? Because you get to this awkward stage where you paid good money for a coating but eventually the water's no longer beading and the coating is half gone...

      When you use only air you potentially leave a film of minerals or soap residue on the car. Drying with a quality towel and drying aid leaves a better finish.

    Great video - a lot of details and direct tips, but still I have one question.
    Most if not all of such tutorials assumes/advices putting "some product to restore hydrophobic properties" as last step. That rises the question what happens if such booster is not applied? We all know that proper servicing of coating is crucial but still i have doubts if that additional booster "restores" origin coating properties or just adds its "own hydrophobic layer" in fact not restoring anything from underlying layer. Restore means restore not adding own "masking layer". What is the truth? Will I have same protection just applying such booster (short lasting ceramic "layer") frequent enough?

    • @diydetailofficial
      @diydetailofficial  9 месяцев назад

      In our case it’s not required. Some coatings calculate their longevity using a topper every 6-12 months, not our case. There’s nothing wrong with using one, it will simply extend the usable life of the coating indefinitely.
      By themselves the toppers provide hydrophobics, but they do not offer the level of chemical resistance a true coating has.

    • @user-dg9js2ny3g
      @user-dg9js2ny3g 9 месяцев назад

      @@diydetailofficial Thanks - so the point is that hydrophobic properties of some (?) coatings may diminish over time and regular topper application keeps hydrophobity at certain level but in such case it is thanks to topper. In the same time topper does not give such strong chemical resistance as proper coating. Right?
      Second: what do you mean "In our case it’s not required"?

    Hey guys, can you give me a recommendation for my recently ceramic coated car. About three weeks ago, I went thru all the steps, Bug & tar remover, Iron removal Decon, Clay bar, mechanical polish both Compound & polish, then IPA, then coated my car with a ceramic coating. It looks Great but I then took it on a road trip for a week and almost daily I used Bug/Tar remover to get the bugs off the front, Now I'm wondering the proper steps if i want to re-coat the front end and possibly lower side panels. I'm hoping I can do this with some leftover ceramic coating I have to better prepare this for winter conditions & coat the areas that are the most affected by road use. Could I wash the car well, use Iron remover again after 3 weeks, IPA wipe, & recoat some areas (mostly the front) without any issues? Any other suggestions or recommendations to further lengthen the ceramic coating? Thank you

    I must say I’m a total noob to this but after almost pulling the trigger on products that cost way more than yours from another you tuber I asked myself why? If I’m a beginner, and there are products designed for people like me that costs way less but provides superior performance, then why spend more? Utilizing your product lineup I pre foamed and washed with your rinseless wash, decontaminated with your iron remover, and synthetic decontamination towel. I panel prepped. I overcame my fear of using a random orbital polisher, while utilizing your pad and polish. At this stage my vehicle was glossy and beyond smooth. Towel sliding down the window smooth. Very glass like, slippery. I opened up your 8yr coating and after putting way too many drops on the applicator I started to ceramic coat. I did have a couple high spots but that was my fault and was so easily fixed. It went from a rainbow look to almost clear and I leveled and buffed dry. Is my paint perfect? No..I have nicks etc on the front and you can see slight imperfections only when you light it or if you’re staring at a panel in the sun. But just in passing no one would see it. My god….ive never seen this car so glossy. During the first rain, I didn’t have to use my wipers and the beading…they looked like diamonds all over my car. Clear and shiny beads almost evenly distributed all over the car. Once I accelerated the water would just come off the panels. After buying the whole product line and the polisher and IK sprayers it was still almost half what I paid for the coating on my other car and the feeling of knowing I did the work is awesome. Thank you for delivering such a high quality product line, that a beginner can use and feel confident enough to produce stellar results.

    to chim in on what Yvan said about the paint from auto body shops not being the same as OEM, its because when the factory paints the cars its just the body, there is not suspension, interior or engine, when they cure it they can back it at a much higher temperature with having to worry about the plastics melting from the heat, body shops can only back the paint at 400F so the paint and clearcoat never get to the same hardness level as the factory paint

    Ugh! Was literally looking everywhere for an “all purpose cleaner on ceramic coated cars” video.
    Question: All-Clean is step 1. Can I follow this with Rinseless as step 2 WITHOUT using a hose? So all-clean in my multipro 2, followed by rinseless spray down, followed by rinselss bucket wash? When should I add the waterspot remover if NO hose is used?
    Very harsh and salty winter is coming, and I don’t want to freeze my pipes.

      Unfortunately if you had paint correction done, they may have over polished the car. This takes the outer layer of the clear coat off, making it easier to scratch.
