I had a customer with a black Silverado who had some transfer scratches from a refrigerator. Since I’ve heard horror stories of gm black paint, I decided to do a modified 5-5-5. I did the waffle pad on speed 4 and a tiny bit of pressure and it took it right off and didn’t leave any hazing. Gold standard system is incredible

When you do one section at a time, do you overlap for coverage? and if so, wouldn't that take off some of the ceramic gloss you just applied, or does that not really matter since you're reapplying over that part anyway? would that matter if the polishing pad got some ceramic gloss on it too?
I went with 1.25gal and a 2gal garden pump sprayer. small one for rinseless mixed with distilled water, and big one is just distilled water for the initial rinse. Both hold up to 45psi which works out pretty well before the contact wash.
I have used this method many times in blazing Texas summer sun and did just fine. Just work small sections and be vigilant. Never had anyone unhappy with the results.

Great video guys was very helpful 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I also got to try the red pad using ceramic gloss. Came out super duper slick as well glossy. Only bad my polisher (harbor freight da 8mm) was hurting my hand due to vibration. Over all am happy going to try it with gold standard soon. Looking into getting better polisher as well with a rotary
Thats interesting. You are doing decontamination without any other lubricant, iron-decon and clay/tar remover. Are you using the stronger dilution of rinseless wash to soak your clay towels? I think I might like this method because I don't have a water source in my garage.
I really love these videos showing how to be more efficient; very nice! But can you please start showing some 50/50 shots or show us a panel using your quick polish method with the damp pad and no rinse soap vs. another half or panel showing your pad and same polish using the traditional / dry polish method? I'd like to see if all of this speed means the correction abilities are greatly reduced or are they about the same or other. Some close ups of the panels would be very helpful to many viewers I'm sure. Thanks and keep up the great work.
what is the longevity of ceramic gloss? I'm aware its not a full blown coating but what is its targeted time frame of durability? is it closer to like technician's choice ceramic detail spray, 1-2 months depending on environment?
The yellow waffle has more cut, so we are getting a nice combination of defect removal (swirl and scratch removal) plus gloss. The rotary jeweling pad doesn’t cut a lot but offers great gloss. If you ever want to figure it out, do a test side by side and see what looks better to you and stick with that for the entire car 👍

Hey guys, awesome video! Would you recommend to always do a double pass with the sponge? Untill now I've always done a single pass per panel unless the car was particularly dirty...
As usual great video. Newbie question: I was under the impression that we're suppose to use an IPA solution after polishing then hit it with a top coat, no?
Hi guys, thanks for the great video. I personally find the removal of polish the most taxing part of the job. It literally wears me out especially on large vehicles. I have a question regarding the use of rinseless wash to remove the polish residue. If i wiped down a panel , rewet the towel in rinesless after each section, wouldnt i be also reintroducing the polish residue back onto the towel when im wiping the next section? It seems I'd be wiping witn a concoction of rinseless and polish residue. Thanks
We wiped down with Rinseless Wash and then applied Ceramic Gloss in this case. Normally Rinseless Wash-dampened towel just cuts through the polish residue easier and faster so it's less scratch risk on the paint and easier for your arm and shoulder. After that you would panel prep the vehicle and ceramic coat IF you were coating. In this case, we had a goal of polishing and protecting in 1 hour so we made choices around what to do and not do to get results and meet the time criteria
Yes, it makes the next step more efficient. DIY Detail Rinseless Wash doesn’t leave anything on the surface, and the polish residue stays in the bucket. If you noticed, we don’t go back to the bucket often. The Gold Standard Polishing System barely leaves any residue, and the MF towel is just damp not wet.
How many passes are you making with the polisher with the yellow pad. If a pass is 1 up and down and 1 side by side for a section, how many passes per section?
I am ceramic coating with your 5 year shortly. I have waxed my car quite religiously since i bought it two years ago so my plan is to use more of a stripping shampoo for the initial wash. My plan is to completely rinse the car of the shampoo and then decon with your towel and iron remover. If i leave the car wet and then decon using this process am i alright on the lubrication side? Only other question is if i use the water spot remover when would you add that process? I have well water thats filtered so my water is very "pure" but i figure if im doing it once then go all out. I did buy the 5 year kit, which is a great deal, so i plan on a quick polish with the gold standard. The paint is in good shape but im comfortable polishing so might as well.
@@diydetailofficial excellent thanks. Gotta say I am looking forward to it! I've done ceramic coatings but honestly the one I used, which worked well, was such a pain when I bought this car, a 2022 VW Atlas Cross Sport, I just started waxing. Watched your videos, researched your products and I am a believer. I coated my 2020 Audi S5 a few years ago and it's time to redo it so I'm sure I'll be a repeat buyer! Maybe the 8 year for that one. Waxing isn't dead btw! I paid a lot of money for a very high end wax and I love it. Just going to do my wife's car now.
For a one step polish do you guys recommend the rotary with yellow pad or a DA with yellow pad? I’ve seen you guys use both polishers with a yellow pad and wasn’t sure which was better for a one step.
I didn't see but did you apply the ceramic glass with a rinseless wet fiber towel, right after you polished the hood? By the way, how long does the ceramic glass last/protect?
Yes, wipe off polish residue with a DIY Detail Rinseless Wash towel, then use DIY Detail Quick Beads or DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss as a drying aid. Durability is 4-6 months.
Love the drying blanket but 1) it’s out of stock and 2) it’s heavy and takes forever to dry out once wet. The waffle weave’s beauty is in how lightweight and compact it is plus how much it can dry for its size
Yeah I like the drying blanket a lot and was going to buy more yesterday but I saw it was out of stock. Was thinking about giving the waffle a try. Do you know when the blanket will be back in stock

Hey Guys, thanks again. I’ve ordered an assortment of products, very happy. Question: I know this video is about saving time so was there no pre-soak/pre-rinse because this vehicle only had traffic film being garage kept?
@@diydetailofficial Thank you. Is iron remover must have or I can remove iron contamination with claytowel only? Its little bit problem rinse the car after wash. Im using public washbay for prewash - foam and rinse. So I use iron like second prewash sometimes. Foam, rinse, spray iron on whole car, rinse. Im not sure with that but better like nothing.
we've got a video coming soon with a demo! you'll get a slight amount of "cut" -- really, just a bit of oxidation removal and added shine -- while also applying the product. very minimal expectations around the polishing aspect, but it's a great way to visually improve and protect paint at once
So I think I have the process right, I wrote the entire thing down and added some points from one of your other videos as I'll be using Iron Remover. Please let me know if there's anything missing or if you have any corrections: Dilutions: Brake Buster 3:1 Rinseless Wash 256:1 1. Wheels - Spray brake buster on wheels one side at a time. - Scrub. - Spray them down with Rinseless. - Scrub again. 2. Rinseless Wash - Spray car down with Rinseless. - Start from the top down. With sponge use red side first, then go over same area with black side to pick up grit. 3. Decontamination - Spray vehicle down with Rinseless. - With the clay towel already presoaked in Rinseless, spray one pump of Iron Remover on towel and one on surface. With no pressure, wipe surface down. Use one quarter of towel for each quarter of car. - Hose vehicle off and then towel dry. 4. Polish - Dampen polishing pad. - Attach pad to polisher, and spray one pump as it's spinning. - With no pressure on the machine, start with the machine on the surface (Dual Action/ Random Orbital speed 3, Rotary 400 RPM). Slow movements, 50/50 overlap, 4 passes total over each section. - Do one section at a time (a section is no wider than your shoulders). After each section buff with a Rinseless dampened towel, then spray with Ceramic Gloss. Dry immediately. - Wash pad as it gets clogged or use another clean dampened one. 5. Finishing touches - Spray wheels with Ceramic Gloss, then dry. - Using dampened Rinseless towel, wipe down door jambs. Spray with Ceramic Gloss, then dry. - Dress tires if desired.
Excellent, one change though , DIY Detail All Clean at 15/1 dilution for the wheels is better and costs less. A modification to do once you run out of that other product.
@@diydetailofficial Thanks! I will make sure to get that next time. I've also been updating my comment here since you replied, and I have it finalized. Looking forward to doing this today on my car!
Yvan, I completed this process on my car yesterday and the results were fabulous... it took me 9 hours though, as it was my first time. I wanted to get your thoughts on this: after the wash and clay towel treatment with Iron remover, I hosed down and dried the vehicle and it was already glossing. After the Gold Standard buffing and ceramic gloss though, I didn't see any difference on 90% of the car other than the really marred up areas that needed the buff. So my question is in the future do I have to buff the entire car or can I save time and focus on trouble areas only? Can I do the same for customers expecting a 6-9 hour service as well, or after I wash and clay their vehicle and notice there's not that many issues, to advise them that I can do just the trouble spots and save them time/money as well? Mind you I only used the yellow waffle pad, so that may also be a factor. One more question: can I reuse the waffle pads on future cars? If so, how many times can I reuse until no longer usable?
@@diydetailofficialI think the detailed printout would be awesome. List of material Step by step I know you got videos, but when I am working on it, a printout would be great!
I like the break down you have done. Curious to see what Ivan would recommend to add Prerinse & Prewash. I seen it on one of Pan the Organizer video. Before the contact wash he did a prerinse(with Rinseless) and prewash(with Foam Cannon) then contact wash. So it would be something like. 1.a Prerinse - Spray car down with Rinseless. - Rinse off with water(Pressure Washer) 1.b Prewash - Apply Foam spray (higher PH for dirty/between season), remove traffic film, bug guts, etc... - Rinse off with water(Pressure Washer)
Hey Yvan. What is your opinion on my SOP for a Wash, Clay, Seal? : Spray rinseless Spray wheels and wheel wells (iron remover and APC) Rinse with pressure washer Spray rinseless Contact wash Door jams (APC) Wash wheels and wheel wells Decon towel with ceramic spray Drying towel Plastic trim dressing Tyre dressing
Is this a good process for a mobile detailer who works outside: 1. Pre-spray rinseless 2. Rinse 3. Spray rinseless again 4. Contact wash 5. Iron remover/decon towel 6. Rinse 7. Protection Is this inefficient or overkill in any way?
Rinsless? If you have a hose pretty much anything dirt wise is fine… just spray or foam your solution, rinse, then spray or foam and contact wash. But if you’re talking about the no hose method, that’s where I would say common sense should dictate. If you have doubts about it being safe, use the hose.
I strongly suggest not walking down a step ladder facing away from it. Always step down the way you stepped up. I made the mistake of doing that and most of my foot was too far over the step and I lost my balance. I fell onto the armrest of a nearby chair and broke my ribs. It took 8 months to heal and I still have issues to this day from it. It's the smallest things that can cause the biggest injuries.

How many passes are you making with the polisher with the yellow pad. If a pass is 1 up and down and 1 side by side for a section, how many passes per section?

Hey guys!! Great video.
Q: do you wash your pad after every pass ?
Q: how do I wash the pad if I dont have the bucket wash pad?
Thank you !!🚗
Yes, after every polish section we recommend cleaning your pad. Here’s a pad cleaning option: ruclips.net/user/shortsfGOQU8JQar8?feature=share
Thank you. Apply the DIY Detail Water Spot Remover before polishing.
Wax still definitely has its place
Love your content. Just placed my first order!
Thank you.
For a one step polish do you guys recommend the rotary with yellow pad or a DA with yellow pad? I’ve seen you guys use both polishers with a yellow pad and wasn’t sure which was better for a one step.
A da is easier

I didn't see but did you apply the ceramic glass with a rinseless wet fiber towel, right after you polished the hood?
By the way, how long does the ceramic glass last/protect?
Yes, wipe off polish residue with a DIY Detail Rinseless Wash towel, then use DIY Detail Quick Beads or DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss as a drying aid. Durability is 4-6 months.
Can I ask what is my alternative if I don’t have a pad washer plz

Quick question, what drying towel do you prefer? The blanket or the waffle weave.

Correct
If you’re on a limited budget what would you recommend rotary or DA
15 mm DA

Rinsless wash (256/1) is only lubrication for decon towell?

Is iron remover must have or I can remove iron contamination with claytowel only?
Its little bit problem rinse the car after wash.
Im using public washbay for prewash - foam and rinse. So I use iron like second prewash sometimes.
Foam, rinse, spray iron on whole car, rinse.
Im not sure with that but better like nothing.
Hi,
Does it take 1 hour per person or per two people? Video is 25 min but was also sped up. That's where my confusion takes place. Ty.

Great Video Yvan and Nick. Can you do a rinseless wash on a Semi Truck?
Great suggestion!
Right at the beginning Nick walks off screen to get a wheel and body brush, is that from a wheel specific bucket of Rinseless?
Yes it was also in a bucket of Rinseless

Can you do this merged on a vehicle that’s really dirty.
The time would be the same.
How would you apply ceramic gloss with your red pad? What if any benefits would be accomplished?
we've got a video coming soon with a demo! you'll get a slight amount of "cut" -- really, just a bit of oxidation removal and added shine -- while also applying the product. very minimal expectations around the polishing aspect, but it's a great way to visually improve and protect paint at once

Great video, guys! Yvan, your efficiency is mind-blowing, my friend. Nick is no slouch either, tho!!
Thank you!!
why didnt you guys do a foam rinse foam? doesn't foam contact wash immediately scratch paint? plus doesnt it just remove not as much?
We feature different techniques
So I think I have the process right, I wrote the entire thing down and added some points from one of your other videos as I'll be using Iron Remover. Please let me know if there's anything missing or if you have any corrections:
Dilutions:
Brake Buster 3:1
Rinseless Wash 256:1
1. Wheels
- Spray brake buster on wheels one side at a time.
- Scrub.
- Spray them down with Rinseless.
- Scrub again.
2. Rinseless Wash
- Spray car down with Rinseless.
- Start from the top down. With sponge use red side first, then go over same area with black side to pick up grit.
3. Decontamination
- Spray vehicle down with Rinseless.
- With the clay towel already presoaked in Rinseless, spray one pump of Iron Remover on towel and one on surface. With no pressure, wipe surface down. Use one quarter of towel for each quarter of car.
- Hose vehicle off and then towel dry.
4. Polish
- Dampen polishing pad.
5. Finishing touches
- Spray wheels with Ceramic Gloss, then dry.

I know you got videos, but when I am working on it, a printout would be great!
1.a Prerinse
- Spray car down with Rinseless.
- Rinse off with water(Pressure Washer)
1.b Prewash
- Apply Foam spray (higher PH for dirty/between season), remove traffic film, bug guts, etc...
- Rinse off with water(Pressure Washer)
Great video! Thanks for the helpful tips as always!
Happy to help!
Hey Yvan. What is your opinion on my SOP for a Wash, Clay, Seal? :
Spray rinseless
Spray wheels and wheel wells (iron remover and APC)
Rinse with pressure washer
Spray rinseless
Contact wash
Door jams (APC)
Wash wheels and wheel wells
Decon towel with ceramic spray
Drying towel
Plastic trim dressing
Tyre dressing
Excellent
@@diydetailofficial Thank you for your reply. I received my DIY Detail Rinseless today, I am very excited to give it a try!
How long would this take one person to do? Want to try the rinseless method.
It took 2 of us 1 hour. Try it and let us know 😀
What cordless polisher do you recommend for a weekend warrior?
The polisher is the least important part of the equation. Chose one that fits your needs, budget, and you are comfortable with.
Is that keg sufficient enough to rinse the car off after an iron decon/water spot removal?
It’s sufficient, but not ideal.
Is this a good process for a mobile detailer who works outside:
1. Pre-spray rinseless
2. Rinse
3. Spray rinseless again
4. Contact wash
5. Iron remover/decon towel
6. Rinse
7. Protection
Is this inefficient or overkill in any way?
Perfect
@@diydetailofficial thank you!
Thank you for dropping knowledge bombs!
Thanks for listening to them!!
How many passes with the DA if you only want to clean and gloss the paint like you did here?
3 passes is enough for a glossy paint
What's the limit on "dirty" car you can do a rinse less wash?
Rinsless? If you have a hose pretty much anything dirt wise is fine… just spray or foam your solution, rinse, then spray or foam and contact wash. But if you’re talking about the no hose method, that’s where I would say common sense should dictate. If you have doubts about it being safe, use the hose.
What kind of polisher is the blue one that nick is using?
It’s called Car Shield, we’ve been testing them out but not available in the states just yet

To accomplish this in one hour. Feel free to do all the steps 👍
Is gold standard ok t9 go windows and plastic trim?
Yes
Are all random orbitals safe to use on glass
Yes but use common sense, I can’t say always for anything ever given so many variables. But short answer yes :)
Thank you! ❤
You're welcome 😊
How much would service cost?
Depending on your market it can vary, size of vehicle, condition on vehicle. $250 and up would be a good starting point.
Love it!

Where's your rac-a-tak? I remember you mentioning in another video how the stools create bad posture vs keeping a straight back with the rac-a-tak.
Don’t have one in the shop, unfortunately! They are great though
Wow, thank you for sharing. Sorry that happened
