  • Is it Last Call for the Hemi? Or just a curtain call to something greater?
    Stellantis will remove the Hemi engine in 2024 from majority of their lineup, bringing way a future of Hurricane and EBV drivetrains. Is Dodge's Last Call campaign really about grabbing the Last of the Hemi V8 engines? Or getting funding for the EV future? What if Dodge lied about compliance fines are costing the 6.2L Hemi V8 Hellcat engine? What if they are clearing the decks to bring out a new V8 engine? What if a new Challenger debuts in 5 years with a next gen engine?

    All Dodge had to do was recast the 392 in aluminum, add direct injection and upgrade the pistons and rods and made it 550 hp it would have passed emissions with no problem.

      @@waynemangan7200I wish Dodge had small block hemis that’s one thing I like about GM they have so many good engines and they’re good for modding Dodge got only 3 engines and they’re terrible for modding only the Hellcat one is worth modding the 6.2 and for the money the 5.7. The 392 you have to put Hellcat money into it just to get half of the power sane with the 5.7 depending on how high you want to go. You can get a 1000 HP out of 5Th Gen Camaro with out spending 2022 ZL1 money.

    A problem in getting rid of the 5.7 hemi, is that it is the cheapest one, probably with the biggest amount of buyers. So if they make a new one, it'd need to be available in similar in price

    • @ButterDaInsider
      @ButterDaInsider  7 месяцев назад +35

      @Lifeof728 7 месяцев назад +5

      Also if you remove the 5.7 thinking that will save on fines isnt accounting for why it has the most volume. If you take it out of the lineup, buyers will just migrate to the 6.4 if they want the V8 therefore moving money out of one pocket to the other.

      5.7 is more versatile than its bigger brothers. Just a bit more robust. Some forged guts and a supercharged monster comes out. Call it a budget Hellcat and Scat killer. Did that to mine with some patience over two years and internet searching (daily for an hour or so) got it done for under 8k. Looks completely stock. The only giveaway are the 315s on the rear. BUT…..I’d drive a Mopar 6 as long as it sounded great. Has to have a stick.

    I agree with Butter. Last call is not really the last call for "Hemis", maybe last call for current gen of charger/challangers. Read between the lines: "the days of 6.2L "IRON" block are comming to an end." So it could mean 6.2L "aluminum" block is coming. "Electrification is the future" means that Electrification is not necessarily "the present" or "current plan." If dodge comes out with surprise new hemi v8 technology, I'll be pissed at Tim for all the corporate double speak.
    Edit: probably not as angry as the people that paid over $80K for last call editions, though.

    Stellantis is playing too many games. Time to put purchases on hold and wait for the upcoming repo wave, buy used/repoed Chargers/Challengers and then go to the aftermarket and build what you want. As long as people are paying Stellantis to get "flocked" Stellantis will continue to "flock" it's customers.

      I recently had to quit my service tech position at a dealership due too an no at fault roll over collision accident that left me partially paralyzed bellybutton down…?
      Now i do special projects for the same dealership but mostly only on our ship out (Mecum cars) from home shop.
      The owner where i work(ed) said the auction yards are literally over flowing with repo’s (but they aren’t selling!)?
      Most of those vehicles are carrying roll over debt, zero down, paid way above market price…. He said starting bids always bring out a roar of laughter… the other problem is banks are paying to run these over priced high reserve vehicles first so THE REAL AUCTION CARS are so far down the list most people just leave before they ever get too them..
      Apparently it’s awful
      Im so thankful that my truck had paid off about a year before i got hurt and my Jeep paid off a few months ago… I have a 2012 dk blue white stripe SRT Challenger, I haven’t ever driven it much anymore. It only has like 21,000 miles on it. I would love to get a demon but thats probably not gonna happen…
      I love my old car its pretty rare with white/black leather and red seat belts (all factory).
      I just want the wide body (and i might upgrade mine -but no fake badges… thats just dumb).
      Otherwise Im out of the car market unless its a insane smoking deal (in my favor).
      I say that… A 2 door Gladiator with 5.7 hemi would have for sale signs on whatever needed to go to get that… but Jeep killed that off also.
      😮🤤😂😖

    The point you touch on with the fees is why camaros died but corvettes didn't. I could see dodge taking a similar route; only continuing the big money maker engine which covers the cost of its own fines. I wouldn't be surprised to see money go into the interiors as well to make them a more luxury muscle car with the sole intent of raising the price without raising the emissions to tilt the ratio in favor of profitability.

    5.7 l dual overhead cam twin Turbo that's what Dodge needs. And that engine would get more than 17% better mileage than a 6.4 if tuned Correctly That's all the in line 6. gets is 17% better mileage than the 6.4 Hopefully Dodge does something cool That makes a really great turbo 8.

      I'm not a big fan of the dual overhead cam, but I hear what you're saying. I mean the 4.7l chrysler did had overhead cams but it was one of the worst engine Chrysler made

    If they did away with the 5.7 only 20 % of the public would be able to afford the other models.

    @ButterDaInsider I read that as "The days of the IRON BLOCK supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi are over." It will come back cast in a different metal. Maybe Aluminium? Maybe Billet? The key words in the statement is IRON BLOCK.

    I think it would be a good video breaking down the profit margins along side the fines and see if it makes sense to discontinue all 3 v8 engines or if it would have been a better idea to just drop the 5.7 since it’s such a culprit

    Why these dumbasses don't make a 4cyl HEMI is beyond me. They are killing a billion dollar brand and not even bringing anything good enough to replace it... Ughhhh, annoying

    Seems like a lot of false information has been going around about this. Dodge never said 2023 would be the final year of the Hemi. They said that 2023 would be the final year of the Hemi Powered "L cars". They'll still have Hemi engines available for certain vehicles, just not for challengers & chargers. (which may change, Dodge has a history of lying)
    As far as the "Banning of Gas Cars by 2035".... I agree. I call bullshit. I don't know anyone personally that even like the electric cars. You would literally have to force these on the public to get a complete conversion, and even then, we'd have a HUGE used car market springing up for rebuilt gas cars. Never gonna get rid the V8. The demand for V8's will always be there. they sound amazing and that is a huge part of the driving experience.
