  • I head to the SSS Motorsports dyno to test the ‪@jackalmotorsports‬ Stage 1 93 fuel tune ECU against my stock ECU. With dyno graph results in hand, I show what the stock horsepower and torque curves look like for the BHF motor in the B7 S4 then compare that to a Jackal tuned set of curves.
    Chapters:
    00:00 - Dyno day prep & predictions
    01:44 - What to expect at the dyno
    07:38 - Baseline stock ECU pulls
    11:06 - Jackal ECU pulls
    13:18 - Vroom, popopopopop
    13:31 - Tune results and comparison
    19:48 - Next project peek

    This definitely seems like a calibration issue on the dyno side, but, your top end should not be falling off, HP should pull all the way to redline, we will work to find out whats going on :)

    Love the videos, keep em coming… I note that when you completed your oil change you added Ceratec, it states that it isn’t to be used in cars with wet clutches.

    • @FigureItAudi
      @FigureItAudi  Год назад +1

      Thanks Neil. Correct - and I'll openly admit I'm no automotive expert - but being a manual transmission on a passenger vehicle, I don't think it's possible to have a wet clutch in that configuration. Also this is complete opinion but with how hard the S4 V8 had to work on the dyno that day, I attribute its survival to the ceratec protecting all the places in an engine that are going to get damn close to coming metal-to-metal. Not unlike how all the Valvoline sponsored people talk about VR1 protection when they change it in for high stress usage.

    Great to see the progress on the S4. The engine sounds great! Interesting results on the dyno.. A lot less less than i would've expected in stock form and was definitely expecting higher WHP numbers on the jackal tune.. Perhaps the dyno does need calibrating like Jackal Motorsports mentioned.?

    • @FigureItAudi
      @FigureItAudi  Год назад +2

      As a numbers man, I have to be objective till I know for certain what is and isn't working on the car. It won't take much effort for me to confirm a few things when I get to work on the S4 again soon (and if I'm being totally honest, there's a few things I'm going to upgrade while I'm in there again). The beauty of having 2 ECUs is that I can progress with S4 improvements and still have the ability to swap and test ECUs to maintain a fair comparison on performance. I truly not that concerned, though. The project I'm starting now is going to be more work than the S4 ever was :).

      Hi Hector - The rear bumper and lower valence is just the factory DTM rear setup which came standard on these 25quattro S4s, DTM edition S4s, and even a few special edition DTM pack A4s had them too. The rings are just spray painted.

    Check compression and do a leak down test. If acceptable, then a calibration issue.

    I think its a mix of dyno and car issues. It seems like it drops off top end even before I saw the cart. Mine pulls all the way up, granted I am stage 2 but still.

  • @ScottZupek

    I have a B7 S4 (Avant) and it should pull through that rev range quicker than that. Something seems to be "dragging" your drivetrain. I assume after swapping ECU's you ran a throttle body adaption? (which you should always do on VAG products after ECU swaps, battery swaps, etc) I hope you figured it out by now.

    • @FigureItAudi
      @FigureItAudi  Год назад +2

      Yeah, it's a real head scratcher at the moment. The nice part of having 2 ECUs is that if I uncover, let's say, an air flow issue, I can make modifications to the car and still redo the dyno testing fairly since I can pop the stock ECU back in for fresh baselines.

    • @FigureItAudi
      @FigureItAudi  Год назад +1

      It automatically is "on" most of the time you start the car but the compressor doesn't run (the ECON button is lit up in that shot). In fact, it was barely over 0 degrees Celcius that day and you'll see the heat is running in the car. So, A/C was definitely not running.

    • @FigureItAudi
      @FigureItAudi  Год назад

      Deep breaths Davy. Yes, I've had to buy a few things to be able to test the S4 properly and will put create a video after the S8 block tear down is done. The dyno shop had another AWD car come through and put down as much power as anticipated, so the situation is becoming more likely a me problem. Worst case scenario is a total loss of compression in any or multiple cylinders and a full rebuild is necessary.

    • @nessunamore
      @nessunamore Год назад

      @@FigureItAudiI would think that a downed cylinder should cause a misfire. You mentioned that you broke a valve. Was it the "suction jet pump" ? I don't remember if the 4.2 has those but you can't glue it when it breaks and it causes all kinds of issues when it goes. I personally call it "the God valve of everything." I'm also thinking that your cats are plugged. Since you have the rear o2 spacers there's no way for the car to know if the cats are bad. Id take it to a shop that can analyze you exhaust gasses to make sure the cats are functioning. That means a long hot drive. Bring a scan tool to make sure your fuel trims are within spec

    • @nessunamore

      @@FigureItAudicould be timing as well. Chains could be stretched enough to be down on power but not enough to cause a light.

    Down on power...needs a carbon clean maybe?

    • @mach1743
      @mach1743 Год назад

      The BBK B7 S4 engine is common-rail multi-point fuel injection and not FSI like the B7 RS4. Therefore does not suffer from carbon build up..
