I don't think so. It needs to be plugged into something via USB-C to work. But you don't NEED a computer cause it also works with ipads or tablets, too.
The difference between the SSL12 and SSL2 is that the SSL12 has 2 more channels and the option for ADAT connection. But the SSL2 and 2+ are still really clean interfaces. Especially when the 2 is like right under $200 usd, not to bad.
I'm right there with you man! Such a hard decision to make. Sometimes music stores have them setup as well for testing purposes, that could be helpful too! Best of luck with picking the right one, man!
@@thahyst i managed to find a RME Quadmic for a reasonable price so I went with that. From what I've heard that should be more than what I need for my RUclips channel. I also do have a zoom F4 that I use whenver I'm mobile.
You can! That's what's dope about it. I was using it the other day with my Galaxy S 20. I used it with FL Mobile and Cubase mobile, I almost convinced myself there would be lag just cause I was skeptical about an interface working with a phone... but it ran and recorded hella smooth.
@@thahyst thanks man imma purchase it soon I have a Galaxy note 9 but currently I'm using my dream cricket with that interface you don't have too use a preamp are compressor seems like that's already in the interface I mean it sounds damn good
@y.r4266 Hell yeah, man, you gotta love a clean pre-amp, but before you buy it, I'd definitely suggest looking at some more videos, maybe a little research in Google. I heard it runs better on tablets than phones, though it seemed fine with mine, but maybe I should do a video on that.
@y.r4266 I did use the C -Hub and tried it without, and it wasn't picking up on the phone without the adapter. But one of my buddies uses it without the adapter directly plugged into his tablet, and it works really well.
@@heddshot87 And on top of that it's a comparison between a "beginner interface" and a "top of the line (literally) interface". What a waste of time both for him making this video and for everyone watching it...smh.
very helpful. thanks!
Really dope! I wish I got that before my scaly t.t

In my opinion, the SSL12 is still the winner 🏆
Can the ssl work standalone? (no computer) when monitoring direct

Been looking at the ssl 2, do you know what the difference is between that one and the ssl 12?

@@thahyst Thank you, I've been looking at a new soundcard but the amount of choice makes it difficult to choose :)

@@MartinKPettersson Those RME interfaces are awesome. I almost went with one, good choice either way!

Focusrite is a piece of crap. SSL 12 is a piece of art. Why would one wish to compare?
This isn't even the 4th gen.. that's another story
