The Honda Fit engine air filter is located to the left of the battery. It has four clips that can be opened without any tools. Honda no longer provides a maintenance schedule in the owner's manual. The old standard to change an engine air filter was 30,000. If the car is driven in dirty and dusty conditions, it may be a good idea to check the filter a 15,000 miles.
Changing the engine air filter is not difficult. Doing it yourself instead of paying the dealer to change it can save a lot of money.

Thank you for sharing, just changed mine and it took less than 5 minutes. I can’t believe all these years I paid the dealer so much to do it and I noticed they broke one of my clips. They should do this for free, you only pay for filter.
The car belongs to my mom. We try to never take it to the dealer. Luckily we have a very good, honest local mechanic. Mom just had the car at the dealer for a recall. They suggested changing the filters, mom didn't bite. I change them for her. There is another video that shows how to change the cabin filter. Thank you. But, having trouble with back two latches. In one back right, black plastic part is missing. In one back right, I accidentally had black plastic piece come off. I finally found it and will try again with towel undeerneath. Any more ideas on this? Thnks much, 2013 Honda Fit (base) model.
It sounds like someone broke one of the latches. You can likely get a replacement. You might try an auto parts store. If they have the part it's likely cheaper than from the Honda dealer. I kind of remember having one of those back latches come apart one time as did your latch that is not broken. I struggled a bit to put it back together. I can't look at how it goes together, the car in the video got totaled in June. Someone ran a light at ran into it while my 86 year old mother was driving it. Luckily, mom was not hurt.
@@Know-How-Now Glad Mom ok, sorry abt car. I really like my little go-car(t) car. But tiese combination metal/plastic back air filter clips are bad. I had had to buy several over-priced replacements. I managed to get back on this morning, but it almost looks like one is "upside down. Tho, cover appears tight. Hate to take apart b/c of loss/breakage problem. Thank you for responding. If you lived down the street, I'd be over with my little white Honda Fit.
