Thanks for the tutorial. My dealer charges $101.00 parts and labor for the engine and cabin filter change. I bought an air and cabin 2 pack on Ebay for $15.00 PPD. Got it in 3 days and did the engine and cabin change in 10 minutes. Saved $86.00 WOO HOO...
Great video! Thanks for explaining it so clearly! Our Honda Dealership wanted $99.00 to replace it and I thought THAT was too much. I will say this to your point about Honda's reccomendation on changing it every 30,000 miles, YES, absolutely!! When my dealership did the 12 point inspection, aka How to Boost Profits, they told me that they found acorns in their and it was affecting the blower. I believed them because we do go chipmunks stashimg their booty in every imabinable place. So I thanked them kindly for pointing that out to me but told them that I would do it myself. Thanks for saving me $$$!
these newer Hondas make it simple to change the cabin air filter just need to lower the glove box. I used to have a 1999 Honda CRV its cabin filter is a pain to change meaning i had to remove the glove box and the frame or cross member to get to the filter as its transmission went and no longer have it. for the 08 crv i currently have they do have a K&N cabin filter for it as Summit Racing have them as like its air filters its a lifetime filter. the 1968 volkswagen beetle i have for its heat it has no filter the dirty air is sucked through the fan in the back which is also the fan to cool the engine. as the air from the fan driven off the engine is pushed through two hoses through the heater boxes on the exhaust system through two hoses in the body under the back seat and through the heater channels and out the ducts in the front and the defroster vents. if the exhaust rusts out in the heater boxes in these you can smell the fumes.
You woukdnt happen to have a dawn redwood tree at home would you? That debris on the old filter looks like what it drops in the spring. Thanks for this video changing mine today!
Your dealer was going to charge you 100 and how many dollars in labor for a 60 second repair? I should have gone into the auto repair business. I'd be making over $6000/hour!!!
My dealer said it would be $300 in my wifes Honda Odyssey because they had to take half the dash board off. I took the glove box off, 2 bolts and changed it in under 10 minutes.
They tried charging me a similar arm and leg for a Cabin Air Filter when I brought Old Clanky in when it was still under warranty! They also offered to top off my headlight fluid. My old car _never heard of_ a cabin air filter! It also never heard of a $250+ bill to change it. In fact, the air filter for the engine was dirt cheap! I just looked it up, and even today it would only be $6. If my old car was still alive, and heard of such nonsense, it would have promptly driven itself through the dealership, knocking down and killing the idiot who wanted to charge that with it's big, strong, chrome bumpers. Damaged to car: Scratched chrome on bumper Damage to building: Knocked off foundation Killing the guy who wanted to charge that: Priceless.
+jaykay18 As always, I LOVE THE WAY you think!!!! I remember way back with my Toyota Cressida in high school... Spark plugs? $4. Air filter... $5. A whole brake job, which I did myself as a teen, cost me all of $20 at the time. And OMG the SPARK PLUGS for Spatsbear's Dart cost... ready for this... $160! FOR JUST FOUR PLUGS! Luckily, I found a set on Amazon.
Yea mine In my Hyundai Santa Fe is behind the glove box as well exact same way to change it too. I should change mine again I can't remember exactly when I replaced it.
5 years ago I paid 85 for this shit filter replaced. Now, I do know. I just ordered an Amazon air filter and will do myself installed it. I saved a bit more in my own pocket. Thanks ripped me off from Honda dealership profits. Jesus Christ!
wish they put cabin filter in my car. there is just a empty for a filter in my 3rd gen 96 toyota camry. the lexus version had one i think.not as easy to get to where mine would be. by the floor behind center console. need to take some stuff off to get to it and bend in weird ways. would have put one made for lexus version or something in it already if it was easier to get too. few pictures where it would be on mine btw. www.toyotanation.com/forum/103-3rd-4th-generation-1992-1996-1997-2001/60083-cabin-air-filters-93-s.html#post1054601 step by step basically showing it down on lexus es300. might be a little newer then my model but seems like not much changed. www.clublexus.com/forums/es-1st-to-4th-gen-1990-2006/168680-es300-a-c-or-cabin-filter-change-97-01-a.html
Nice demonstration, this is an easy fix and well worth avoiding the unfair cost of the dealer $$

Same setup and procedure for Honda Jazz/Fit 2010 model. Thanks for pointing out the A/C recirculation system. I never knew it was that simple!
DAMN that literally took 18 seconds to complete. Thank you for tutorial.
Thanks for taking the time to make this great video!

harleybadger1 Yeah it's a whole different ball game now. All kinds of expensive parts. And likely made in China for the luxury of the premium price.
Thank you very much
You are welcome
Thank you
Thanks!!!

are you sure you're supposed to change them every 30,000 miles? I think it's every oil change??
Oil filter must be changed every time you get new oil.
This is only around 30k miles.
Omfg the commentary 🤣
anyone knows how to take off or replace 2007 honda fit cluster?thanks
+Michael Her Never tried it, but I would assume just take the two screws out and pop out the cluster.
well shit. My flappy thing has a hole in it from the mouse that invaded my car! I didn't know that is what that was for.

step by step basically showing it down on lexus es300. might be a little newer then my model but seems like not much changed. www.clublexus.com/forums/es-1st-to-4th-gen-1990-2006/168680-es300-a-c-or-cabin-filter-change-97-01-a.html
Over 200 bucks for something that simple. Wow. No mark up there I see...
I paid $11 at Amazon
Is that why they call Honda the Japanese BMW?
"And I'm like... yeah, blow me." Hah! Dealer's mark up is ridiculous.
