Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Scotty tell your son thanks for his service as a vet I appreciate it .
Merry Christmas!
When Scotty says "Time for the giant screwdriver" you know things are going to get fixed no matter what. I'm going out after Christmas and getting myself one.
LOL
“You can make things last if you really have too!
That’s TRUE wisdom right there.
That Honda always seems to have a Fit from time to time.
My old fit would throw a fit going up my old driveway. My current one throws a fit when I don't drive it for a week XD It will literally set off it's alarm if it sits for more the 5 days without being unlocked
@@KLune92 Haha
😂
My 99 civic with 405k miles, starts right up, and ac still works!!
Does it blow freezing cold air??😄
How is the header holding up any exhaust leaks or oil burning smell going uphill?
@@guardian8319 for me? Worn seals, but thats nothing additives cant help with. This engine literally drinks the oil, but since oil cheap, this ain't no issue for me. Either if engine gives up or blows up, which ever comes first, it's getting swapped regardless :)
Hondas are awesome.
@@igreatfox_707 that's amazing, I just picked up one with 90,000 miles on it. A lot funner to drive than that Chevy Cruze! That piece of s*** leads antifreeze all over the place and the transmissions are about worthless.
Thank you Scotty for fixing my grandma's car!! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Merry Christmas!
Scotty is a good (and honest) guy. A rarity in this day and age
If the Honda is your grandma's car here is a little tip (from a long time Honda owner) for you.
When you install a new air filter, the retaining clip is curved spring steel and it's quite easy to make it snap into place by pushing the clip in (with your thumb) where it curves.
This is much harder to explain than it is to do ;-)
@@inspirality You do know that one spring was rusted tight right? You could not use your thumb, the pliers didn't even work. Scotty had to use the big screw driver for leverage
@@inspirality Science!
4:05 I like how Scotty shows we are not the only ones who struggle to get all the plastic back together.
Merry Christmas to my favorite mechanic!🎄
I just bought a Honda Fit that comes tomorrow. When I saw the thumbnail I got scared 😂
do you still have it ?
Don't they're more than reliable. Have 235k on my wife's and it was abused before we got it. Oh and original CVT still shifting in it... With a little whiplash.
Can't stop laughing
Viewer: " the dealer said... "
Scotty: "don't listen to them they're full of crap"
Epic.
Stealership
I have an 07 Honda Fit sport. I love that thing! Lol
Let your junker car pay for your next car, open a bank account & deposit $500 each month and don't touch it until your junker goes to the crusher. May have enough to pay cash for next low mileage used vehicle.
The amount of information that I’ve learned from Scotty’s videos are some of the best teachings I ever had. Thanks Million!
I agree 100%.... on top of it its free. wowowowow isn't amazing.
He's a good teacher too!
Scotty has taught me more then my sperm donor who spent his life as a mechanic
Agree! Quick, simple, minor and cheap fixes that will make a world of difference.
Love this guy. Irrepressible. He is my daily tonic. Have a great New Year, Scotty. You're one of the good ones.
I had this same issue on my 2007 honda fit. Stall when cold and once warm no issues. Now i know... 10 years later. Oh well
Thanks for the content Mr. Scotty. I hope you are enjoying Tennessee and being with your family.
Thank you for answering my CVT question on your live stream!
Great, on Christmas day, Scotty made a video. Bravo Scorry. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
i had one of these Honda fits, theyre a really good reliable car, highly recommend it. if anyone has any questios about them let me know
Richard Stasko I have this same one and I’m having the same exact issue Scotty explained but I have done everything he said in the video already and it’s still having the issue. I have suspected it needs a valve adjustment according to the forums but what do you think?
I got a 09 fit sport with 110k. It has electric power steering. When I'm driving at highway speeds steering feels little bit loose or like it sways back and fourth. Changed the sway bar bushings on front still not feeling precise. Anyone have this problem?
I was going to finance one of these as my first car but I couldn't afford it. Got an 04 Accord instead and still very happy. :D
Yo
@@deecher9494 ,, Much better buy in having a 2004 Honda Accord. Sturdy and easier to repair.
I think I missed the Honda with the serious problem LOL.....
It was a dirty air filter lol
Merry Christmas Scotty! Looking forward to all of your new content and please keep the history films coming. We love them!
I"ve owned two honda fits an 07 that was hauled from an insurance claim that had 244K miles and was still running and driving, couldn't afford body, and suspension work.
My current 08 has 196K. Love these cars. My first one would try and stall while cold the spark plugs, air filter where changed and it did okay till the serp belt snapped and shreaded then the tensioner pully fell off XD Managed to make it work with an inch smaller belt. These cars are awesome, they will get up and go pretty quick with just stock, but they are easy to work, cheap parts, and great gas saver for someone like me who loves to drive, plus fold the back seats down and you can haul just about anything I"ve had everything fridges, deep freezers, wood, hay, animals, people, cargo in my car. you can FIT A LOT IN FIT
The bottom of the rear seats fold up, too.. so you can put stuff in behind the front seats and still have the rear cargo area separate because the top of the rear seats can stay up
Merry Christmas Scotty and family. I hope you enjoy your first Christmas 🎄 in Tennessee. Thanks for all you do, and making me learn how to take care of my 2005 Toyota Highlander.
Scotty, you are the MOST , WARM HEARTED PERSON I KNOW . It is really commendable what your doing for Us Scotty Family Online, & all you due for the Military Family. Pretty soon you'll be fixing the Helicopter's, & Air plane's in your driveway. Stay Healthy 🙏 my friend.
I have the 2010 fit and this sounds exactly like mine when it starts up! 😁 It was satisfying to hear 🤣 I love this car very reliable, and actually has a lot more space than you would think.
My dad has an 08 Fit Sport with 658,000 miles. It’s one of the best cars ever created hands down. The packaging is just perfect and it handles heavy loads surprisingly well. We’ve weighed our Fit down with 800 plus pounds of camping gear and bikes and it still runs fine.
@@sarahwood8943 holy cow that’s good to know I just bought an 09 FIT with only 112,000 miles on it. I plan on using it for my long commutes to work! 174 miles a day round trip. Amazing gas mileage especially compared to my Toyota FJ Cruiser which was costing me 800.00 a month in fuel expenses
@@sarahwood8943 What, 658k miles. mine 05 only 151k miles. I had been thinking 300k miles is a record.
@@DGQ1Q2 300k isn't a record....everyone knows Hondas can easily go well over 300k if you take care of them
@@richsweeney1115 Thanks for you reply. I am willing go far of 400k hopefully. 👍
Merry Christmas brother! ...and THANK YOU for you!

Merry Christmas scotty! Thank you for your videos!!! 💜
Merry Christmas Scotty from Halifax Nova Scotia Canada. I enjoy your videos a lot.
I've got the same car at 375k and with regular maintenance it's a gem. Got it 7 years ago at 110k.
I absolutely love my '12 Fit. I live in Pennsylvania too and I can vouch for the rust issues lol!
Merry Christmas Scotty and to your extended family 🌲 We love your channel 👍
Honda and problem in the same sentence? Something you don’t see very often 😅
Yup, this is my grandma's car. It just didn't work good when cold. Nothing else was wrong with it, it's a lot better now after the new filter and spark plugs. Still going to put the fuel injector cleaner in. Thanks Scotty
Sometimes I forget to lock my doors at night 😴😏😴
My 2020 Civic has larger gaps, more uneven panels, and rattles than my dads 2010 Civic. Mechanically, though? The K20C2 has been problem free and is a very refined, reliable engine for the 15,000 miles it has been so far driven. Even when the instrument panel said oil change was overdue, the darn engine was still running even better than when it left the showroom lol. Kinda like my 2001 cavalier. Not exactly the best fit and finish, but that 2.2L OHV was great and managed to reach 240,000 miles before I sold it.
Any brand will have this if you don't ever change the plugs. Stop being ignorant.
@@robmalcolm8042 They were changed once at a garage in Pennsylvania. We knew they could use new spark plugs, however I didn't know that old spark plugs could effect the car when it's cold.

Hi Scotty, just want to say thank you. I have learned so much with you.
Just been watching this and wanted to wish you a merry Christmas scotty and you're family love the videos I'm a DIY mechanic and the videos help. I can't get Haynes manuals for my car had to download. But you're vids help alot
Happy Chanooka Scotty! Your videos are great!
6:03 This is why warranties don't mean crap. If you can't get the dealer to do the work because they lie to you, your screwed.
Thanks for your honest advice, your great. What Sienna used year range would you recommend. Happy Holidays.
I've got one of those. If a Honda Fit stumbles and dies when it's cold, it needs a valve adjustment.
Always a good video. Just traded in my 2007 Honda Fit with 243,000 miles, original back brakes still good, front brakes replaced twice with new rotors, and one coil, all four plugs. It ran like clockwork. So I bought a 2020 Honda Fit. In between we bought a 2018 Honda Fit. So far no trouble from any of them. 2020 is the last year, gas prices down, economy cars not popular. But being empty nestors, we both just want a dependable, small easy to park easy maintanance cars. And to be honest, they drive great long distances. I never had any problems with this car.
Now gas prices are double, hope you still have the fit? We have one, was going to sell it, now rethinking that lol
Merry Christmas. Keep on keeping on. No one enjoys what they do anymore than you. You reach so many people. Let’s all remember the reason for the season!
Merry Christmas Scotty.
I drive an '07 Honda Fit in PA, I don't think of it as old though lol
I love that little car! I'll have to check the air filters.
If it's still not running great when cold you can also check your valve clearance. I had a similar problem and an adjustment fixed it up. It's apparently pretty common on the Fits. They're fantastic cars though!
I just bought a Honda fit with 90,000 miles on it. 5k
@@yodead369 I bought mine for 2800 sport model 98k miles
@@Arisafariie yeah, used cars in my state are surging! It's almost worth getting another loan at this point.
@@yodead369 damn what a deal
Merry Christmas from new zealand scotty. Love your videos
I have a 2008 Honda Fit Sport with 270,000 miles. Getting ready to do this same task when the weather cooperates. It's not running poorly, just regular maintenance. I do wish I could have seen where the spark plugs are located. It doesn't look like they are that easy to get to. Going to need one of those cable wrench extender things. Nice to see the same recommendation that the carkillers forum gave for injector cleaner.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Scotty.
Merry Christmas Mr. Killer. ☃️☃️

Merry Christmas from Huntsville al Scotty. ☃️⛄
Scotty, thank you for alot of good information on various types of vehicle. I drive a pre-owned 2017 honda fit and bought it 45,000 miles. I drive the at 300 miles a day, because i work two hours away from home. It's a damn good employment, however the mileage is high at 174,000. I changed the oil between 4,000 to 5,000 miles or every month. It's been a good vehicle, I changed plugs, but need to change the transmission oil next week. At any rate, I have engine light on. I used an Innova 5110 OBO2 carscan reader. It shows a P0420. WHat's your recommendation, I thinking about changing the O2 sensor as recommended. Any recommendation is welcome. You're awsome and thank you for your RUclips channel.
The right video at the right time thanks for this video.
Merry Xmas Scotty the legendary mechanic! What happen to the rev up the engine starting scene? Haha
Thanks for the laugh. Squeaky fastener, dolphin photo. 😆
Merry Christmas Scotty! 🎄 Stay warm.
Merry Christmas Scotty. Have you made a vedio on how to service an e-Brake the correct way? I'm an old school type in servicing brakes but there's a lot info out there and I olny trust your expertise. I you made one happy to watch and learn.Thank you and takecare.
Happy Holidays! Do octane boosters clean injectors? Is there a recommended frequency for using fuel injection cleaner?
6:24 Yes, Definitely. White smoke coming out and the coolant is decreasing mean the engine head gasket has blown, so it's burning the coolant!
Hey Scottie
I’ve got a 07 Honda Fit with 250k miles on it, your right less horsepower but phenomenal reliability.

It's advised for everyone to learn how to read a spark plug.

I like how you snunk in drive it a Couple Hundred Miles LMAO
I've heard about the head gasket problems, but my Subaru is a very good car and my engine runs just fine at 287,000 miles! it's a 98 Legacy. Had some cooling system problems for a while but at the end of it I had to replace the radiator and I'm good to go. Goes to show it was taken care of like any car should be. I would buy the same one again.
I've really enjoyed watching Scotty's videos over the years. This video makes me feel so happy having bought a pure electric car, as there's no complicated engine to maintain.
Evs are junk....they arent green...and .it's going to be wayyyyy more expensive to fix when it does break.... what does this video have to do with electric cars??.. a gas motor isn't complicated if you can learn..
And to think we almost bought a new Yugo when they 1st came out. 🤔😀
I remember those days.
My Chevy HHR lasted me 300,000 miles.

I love the Yugo story Scotty! I had one that I commuted with for 2 hours a day and had it for a decade before the timing belt broke and valves went into the cylinders :( But in WI winters it track like a tank :)
My 05 Accord does that when its cold, but its done it for so long and I've tried so many things without much change that I just treat it like a good morning massage now lol
