Very cool. We wanted the same old school feel. We are doing a build but wanted the old school Jackson racing supercharger because back in the day they were out of sight. Gotta love the body style. Our build is going slow because work is booming, and winter is here. Very cool. Also Hasport offers different levels of motor mounts. We added mounts to our build that is not annoying yet firm. Love your seats too

Not sure you should get rid of it man, you love it. There are people who would take care of it, and people who wouldn't. What if someone wins it and trashes it... Would be so sad. That being said, I would literally be the happiest person alive if I won that. It is freaking awesome. Good job man, this is my favorite build on youtube
New subscriber and just watched a few of your vids. Love your content and the cars you own are amazing! Quality and the fact that you stuck with high school desires is awesome!
I think you could keep it Matt! Look at the smile on your face (more than if you were driving one of your Porsche's right!?) and the car links to a good time in your past - doesn't that make you want to keep it? Keeps the garage nicely varied too! Very nicely finished.
I loved my B18 Integra, but after going H22 the B18 feels like a sewing machine. The H can be found for almost free and after dropping in some cheap cams, intake and a p28 tuned ECU (8,500redline) it makes over 200whp and 180+tq. Highly recommend an all motor H build! Not sure how hard it is to get into a civic however. Great build!
Em1 civic si started it for me too. I had an ej2 (eg) 2 door coupe with a d15 and couldn’t fathom a b series swap. My friends always let me drive their EM1s and I was in love. I’m still a Natural aspiration purist and my favorite cars are all the ones you have or have owned. S2000, e9x m3 (mainly for the s65), gt350, and 991 gt3. Awesome to see someone who has reached the ultimate car to still smile at this car. Makes me think I should build a b series car now that I can afford one.
Any car that you make it all the way home and turn around and go drive some more deserves to be kept. The smile you got at the vtec change over reminded me the first time I felt vtec.
I own an EM1 as well (obviously not as clean and expensive as this one) but man oh man, you are right 😌 sometimes I catch myself getting home and having a strong urge to just drive around some more 😅 and most of the time, I do 😂 My EM1 definitely shows its age a lot of times but this is the only car that I've driven that where I can say "this deserves to be kept" just an absolute blast to drive every. single. time. . It's definitely one of the slower cars I've owned but it's for sure, the most fun!
Love this series. By far my fav on your channel. I do wish that you kept this car because it would have made the whole series even more special for me. I'm also at a point in my life where I can afford six figure cars, but I just picked up a clean low mileage 95 hatchback because the nostalgia aspect of it is a reward that not many things can replicate in life, for me.
Damn, this car is insanely clean and beautiful. All I can say is WOW!!! You just made me seriously miss my '01 white Integra GSR. You should keep it!!! 👍🔥🔥🔥
Who blows a stop sign on camera? 🤣🤣🤣 Love it, Matt. 👌👌👌 you’re a few years younger than me, so, for me, it was my 1994 Ex Coupe. Before the Si, even came out. But this is a beast. Listen to that VTEC kick in, yo!
And still always been my dream to have a '99-00 Civic SI In the ebp blue but....... I always wanted the 92 to 95 Civic Coupe EX that was the first one that I fell in love with as a kid and that's the one that I got and built and have now held on to for well over 10 years the 95 Civic Coupe EX... It's similar to what he did here keeping it period Correct granted I could have went B series or k-series like everybody wanted... Instead I ended up building the original d16 z6 that it came with and to be honest I still love the thing to this day did about every suspension piece you can think of to make it handle around the track also added a roll cage and some nice racing seats and some harnesses but I built that d16 z6 to not only be different but be the underdog and have the car that I always wanted as a kid and to be even more different I decided to build it naturally aspirated granted it's not going to be some high horsepower build but I'm only about 10 horsepower off from what he's pushing with this b18 C5 and even before it was fully built and only meant for the track even with the high compression pistons and full boltons that would piss off so many buddies of mine and random people on the road with their bolt on B series at the time and they would never ever believe it was a single cam after losing a race until I pop the hood and the look on their face is just priceless and what made it all worth it I mainly built it for corners but I'll tell you for what it was and what it is it was a fun light to light car at the time and still is I still love that thing I'll probably never let it go.... And still planning to get a 99 to 2000 Civic SI in that blue color and do a similar build to what he has done And for a daily I have a rare 04 Honda Accord V6 6-speed manual coupe with the hfp package Honda factory performance they only made about 500 of them never been in accord fan always feel like they were the red-headed stepchild of Hondas I always loved Civic integras CRXs an s2000s but I'll tell you when you see them with the hfp package they look way more aggressive and for a daily driver that V6 with full bolt ons and good suspension definitely has surprised a lot of other Honda owners and some bigger v6s 350Z 370Z ect and pretty much any older V8 with around 3 to 400 horsepower but when I want to jump back in that nostalgic feel like hot back in the Civic and it almost feels like going back in time
Great video and awesome sounds! This is also a dream car of mine. No turbo, NA, and everything about the car is what I want. If I had the money, that’s exactly what what I would do. And you can’t beat that vtec crossover and the sound of the intake. Music to my ears!! 💪✌️
this video turned into a game of spot the difference for me with the twoi video streams that weren't lined up. Although it was a bit stressful when the car sounded like it was going full noise towards a stopped car.
The solution to the Hasport rattle-box mounts is to put back the OEM Left & Right upper mounts, and then purchase the 3 torque mounts from the Integra Type R. Much stiffer than stock torque mounts but still allow the free movement in the center for smooth idle. R version part numbers end in ST7-Z00.
man this is it! Cool thing is that I'm wiling to bet you can get 90% of this civic's experience for about $15k if you don't go for flashy mugen/spoon parts. keep the b18c Type R swap and exhaust setup, opt for coilovers, Bride bucket seats, s2000 steering wheel, wheels+tires boom you got a reliable revving machine that will virtually run forever if you just change the oil. Great just great stuff with these older hondas.
My dad had a ‘99 Civic EX and although it was so far from what you have, the motor and (manual) transmission was an absolute dream. Sure it was slow but nobody will ever replicate Honda engines.
Man this brings me back to my bseries days. The vtec crossover and the feel of an all motor honda is amazing. I cant wait to throw all the parts on my ek hatch. Currently has d16y7 with 144k miles at the moment so ill enjoy it for now until i have all the parts for my kswap😉👌
@@7eamGhast my first was a 94 vtir (Australian GSR) and then I got an Australian 2000 type r so maybe it was just the change from an early rack. The difference was definitely there tho, the vtir felt light and somewhat disconnected whereas the type r's was heavier and quicker with better feedback.
@@goldchicken13 Ohhhh, maybe there was a difference in Australia. I’m in pursuit of a 98+ Spec B18C right now, looking to swap into my hatch. Such fun little cars. I was a DSM guy all my life and owned a few Z’s. I never understood the civic thing, but I get it now.
I put just 2 aluminum mounts in, both the front most ones, out of 5 and my car was vibrating way to bad had to get oem. Also this car is best on a Mt. pass, changed my life.
I agree with you. I'll choose B instead K I like how B series looks inside the car. I'll do the same swap to my Ej8 coupe if I find a b18c5. For now I haven't decided on swap my d16y8 pistons for PG6 or P29's And do a 3 angles valve job. My civic pulls hard already. All I need is a little more compression. Not thinking on turbo it. I'm burning E23 on these chambers with a stock ECU Nice build...
B18c5 swapped my dc2 in July with lsd and it is everything I dreamed of and more. Recently saved it from being stolen too ha guess tha part of it. If you’re debating whether to drop the money on an R motor, trust me, it’s worth it.
That is a Beautiful EM1. Hats off to you for keeping the B Series. It's still a great engine. I know the K24 can do 275whp but the ultimate engine at the time was the JDM Type R swap, so I understand why you went that route. I had a nice EG Civic Hatchback with the same B18C with LSD trans swap and very similar mods and power, almost 210 to the wheels and something like 160lb/ft of Tq, or maybe 170lb/ft? The block was sleeved and bored over to 85.5mm and it had a block guard and a different crank with more stroke, so it was closer to a 2.0L engine. I kept and took good care of and loved that car for over 10 years, and it did feel pretty quick. It was no V8 torque monster, but at 2200lbs, 207whp and 160lb/ft or 170lb/ft of torque definitely felt much better than any B16 or B17 I've ever felt. The only stronger N/A engine I think I've felt from the B Series was a really well built B20 Vtec with lots of good work done and 220whp. Not positive what the Tq was, but I think I remember it being 180ish? Wasn't my car, but it was in an EM1 like yours, and it felt like a good strong engine for that car.
I have a integra with a JDM type r with a 4.9 FD. Its not the fastest but when I do drive the car it puts a smile on my face every time vtec comes on.☺️
Mannnn, I have been following this build. I share the same feelings and passion that you do. I really want to take your idea and build myself a prestine 90's Mitsubishi Eclipse. If I did win this Honda build, I certainly would cherish it forever and nothing but smiles from ear to ear.
I remember when I bought the exact same motor and transmission back in 2017 and swapped it in a bone stock 1996 dx hatchback.. to have that feeling again when I first test drove it would be amazing. I unfortunately sold it during a rough time in life but I hope to do it again soon.
I just got the same mounts installed. I have had them about 800 miles and I hope they soften up, it doesn't feel like they have. My idle is a little high though, that might be the issue.
@@chaseteter my dash rattled a lot for a couple weeks especially around idle, then all of a sudden it was good. If you still have problems Hasport also recommends "loosen all the mounts in your car and have them finger tight then go from the transmission mount around counter clockwise and retighten all the mounts to spec" - from an email
Matt i dont if you will see this but spoon makes an engine damper so you can run oem mounts and still feel planted. Ingall makes one as well specifically for the em1

Love your seats too
Welcome to the JDM space!!!
That’s a clean Civic, I’m impressed that thing revs so nice
It's fantastic to see and I'm thankful for other people out there my age that are truly professional enthusiasts when it comes to the Honda brand🤘 just hooked on brother 👍
This is still one of my dream cars. Wheels and all. 😍😍😍. This car or a hatch! I’ve had swapped hatches, but nothing this clean.
And still planning to get a 99 to 2000 Civic SI in that blue color and do a similar build to what he has done
And for a daily I have a rare 04 Honda Accord V6 6-speed manual coupe with the hfp package Honda factory performance they only made about 500 of them never been in accord fan always feel like they were the red-headed stepchild of Hondas I always loved Civic integras CRXs an s2000s but I'll tell you when you see them with the hfp package they look way more aggressive and for a daily driver that V6 with full bolt ons and good suspension definitely has surprised a lot of other Honda owners and some bigger v6s 350Z 370Z ect and pretty much any older V8 with around 3 to 400 horsepower but when I want to jump back in that nostalgic feel like hot back in the Civic and it almost feels like going back in time
Great video and awesome sounds!
Just sold my ITR swap out of my Integra a few weeks ago, and you're making me miss it. I love this car and all the period specific parts! 👏 👏 Amazing!
the sound of the intake puffff warms my ears, I love it
Take me back to this era….PLEASE!! I miss my 2000 EBP Si. I used to have the entire VIN number memorized.
That smile is 100% authentic
One beautiful car! Only old school honda lovers will understand and truly appreciate this build.
Hell yeah, dude. Love that switch over.... VTEC for life.
Or now maybe a B18C swap!
Ive never driven a vtec car but that sound cross over is something different and weirdly satisfying!.. is almost like a turbo spooling but instantly..
You gotta go for the type r steering rack, I went from an Integra GSR to a type r and the difference is huge, better weight in the wheel aswell.
I thought all integras after 94 had 16:1 steering ratio?
@@7eamGhast that's awesome, my brother had an eg hatch that he swapped a b18c2 engine into (Australian GSR variant) and it was so much fun.
@@goldchicken13 eg is even lighter! That must have been a BLAST.
I put just 2 aluminum mounts in, both the front most ones, out of 5 and my car was vibrating way to bad had to get oem. Also this car is best on a Mt. pass, changed my life.
I agree with you.
I'll choose B instead K
I like how B series looks inside the car.
I'll do the same swap to my Ej8 coupe if I find a b18c5.
For now I haven't decided on swap my d16y8 pistons for PG6 or P29's
And do a 3 angles valve job.
My civic pulls hard already.
All I need is a little more compression.
Not thinking on turbo it.
I'm burning E23 on these chambers with a stock ECU
Nice build...
B18c5 swapped my dc2 in July with lsd and it is everything I dreamed of and more. Recently saved it from being stolen too ha guess tha part of it.
If you’re debating whether to drop the money on an R motor, trust me, it’s worth it.
Love the b16a2
Back in the day we would do the GSR swap and use the b16 transmission
Miss those days!
Beautiful car , Matt !!
savagegeese review?? Can't wait for it!
Agree, B18 suits the car well, less refreshed and more raw than K-series, would love to have a "older" Civic with B18 in it
That is a Beautiful EM1.
❤❤❤Music to my ears! I LOVE IT! Takes me back! I can't wait to get another Civic one day
I remember when I bought the exact same motor and transmission back in 2017 and swapped it in a bone stock 1996 dx hatchback.. to have that feeling again when I first test drove it would be amazing. I unfortunately sold it during a rough time in life but I hope to do it again soon.
Amazing street build. People are finally appreciating what a highly responsive high RPM NA engine is all about. Ideal setup for street enjoyment
I have Hasport 62A mounts all around and they do soften up after a couple weeks, it will feel perfect after they do
I just got the same mounts installed. I have had them about 800 miles and I hope they soften up, it doesn't feel like they have. My idle is a little high though, that might be the issue.
@@chaseteter my dash rattled a lot for a couple weeks especially around idle, then all of a sudden it was good. If you still have problems Hasport also recommends "loosen all the mounts in your car and have them finger tight
then go from the transmission mount around counter clockwise and retighten all the mounts to spec" - from an email
I had Energy Suspension engine mount inserts on 90 Integra. They didn’t soften up. I removed them as quickly as possible.
@@touringteg The Hasport 62A is the softest mount they make so hopefully after break in OG will be all good
@@JasonMcMullen Hope so! I am getting old and hate extra noise and vibration.
Matt i dont if you will see this but spoon makes an engine damper so you can run oem mounts and still feel planted. Ingall makes one as well specifically for the em1
First time i've ever heard what everyone has said for years about switching in to v tec. I always took it as a joke and really never knew you could actually hear it... Dont know what to say......!
Dayaaammm that Vtec crossover is massive! Total dream come true. Congratulations Honda Bro!
I owned a 99 Si in EBP. Nothing better.
I had the same giggle Matt as the VTEC kicked in. Memories brother!
Love your project! That induction sound it’s just so raw and pure, amazing.
