In about 2019 or so, I acquired a 1995 Honda Civic Si Hatchback for $4k, with 170k miles. It was a completely unmodified, one owner, clean title and no accidents. It still had the factory hubcaps and tape-deck. The interior is complete and like-new, no missing screws or broken/worn bits. I'm happy to say it's remained in this stock condition since purchase and I simply can not get rid of it.
The greenhouse visibility, factory engine/exhaust sounds as intended by Honda engineers and the "slow car fast" aspects are just a few extremely special items that can never be replicated. Sure it begs you to modify it, but the OEM feel is so special too. I don't need to shave laptops on my way to work, nor sacrifice every aspect of ride quality for a stiffer chassis. It's perfectly wonderful as is and I just know this 1999 Honda Civic Si is just as good if not better. Enjoy and hold onto it forever, or join the millions that regret selling theirs.

i drive an e46 325ci and yeah i would agree, 20 year old cars are still really nice daily drivers. modern conveniences like carplay are fun, but aren't really necessary and can be made up for by bluetooth and phone magnet. i don't find things like cameras and sensors necessary since i can just look. thinner panels are probably concerning for safety, but i do like the extra interior room in a thinner package. it's all worth it for the way it drives and handles and communicates. nice and raw.

The next day i drove my 98 BMW and aside from the new car smell and 300 hp difference the ride over poor asphalt and normal roads wasnt much different .. honestly more comfy bec my 98 has 60 series tires on 15 inch rims versus the Aston 22 inch rims . I had a blast in that thing until a couple years later when sadly, and like many, it was stolen and totally stripped. After that I moved on to an s2k and I've been a Honda guy ever since. Now I'm on my my 3rd s2k and it's my forever car. But the Civic Si will always be special for me and sadly there are very few still on the road, so I never see them in the wild anymore. I drive the EX manual. People behind me get upset because the car is under powered compared with newer cars. I could shift at 4k RPM, but it’s probably a little harsher on the car.

I bought this exact car brand new in 99…. Should never have sold it 😢. A popular mod for a lower seating position was to swap in a set of Del Sol seats 👍🏼

I had a new 00 Si. Some downsides: road noise, slow steering ratio, no torque, hot seats (they don't breathe since it is rubber with synthetic mouse fur on top), unsupportive seats. A/c vents only hit you from the nipples and up making the hot seats even hotter. Lack of solid feel. No ABS available on the Si version(sounds crazy but true!) Positives: good looks inside and out, fun motor when in vtec, good trans, absolutely HUGE side windows and great greenhouse view. The 91-94 Nissan SE-R was a superior vehicle in every way except looks and high rpm operation.

I miss my 08 civic SI with the K20Z3. With Hondata, rev limiter was at 8600rpm 😊

great video but this vehicle does require premium unleaded fuel due to the motor having a high compression ratio. it's also shown on the gas cap!

Wait...the Honda Museum LENT you their cherry EM1? Just let you hold onto it. For an entire week. Like it was a Chevy Cavalier. I'm sorry for the attitude but you have no idea how badly I have been wanting to drive that car. Last time I heard about it, they were letting ordinary Joes drive it for a day to experience 'driving a stick shift'. I couldn't believe I was reading that. I am supremely jealous and I am glad you enjoyed it. I just want 10 minutes with the dang thing, Honda are you listening.....

Looking back now, I used to drool all over these Hondas from the 90s but honestly the domestic sports cars are so much better and better made than these Hondas. Wonder the Mustangs, Camaros and muscle cars, etc are going up in value.
