Great video and thank you for saving the EM1! For the fog light I do have similar experience and I would like to share it. It was for my sister’s Ej8 coupe. We bought the first set eBay fog light with the H3 harness and running the same issue as you have. The screws are not long enough and the hardware are horrible. The problem for it is the driver side will leak when it rains. Later on we get another set off eBay which is the one you were planning to return. But this time the harness is H11, therefore have to rewire it and I think this time should be good because this set cost more than the previous set, and I was dead wrong. This time is passenger side leak! At the end, I realized it’s H11 harness and the housing is literally same as the OEM Subaru fog light and 15-17 mustang fog light. I went to junkyard found myself a set of 17 mustang led fog light for around 30 dollars, and it works, they are also insanely wide and sharp cutout. If you are running to the issue of leak in the future, consider the 15-17 mustang fog, they are very good fog light for the money imo.
Nice transformation there. Favorite parts are the random neighbor asking if it's for sale, Sadie's supervisory role (or is she your assistant?), and the RSX and Civic sightings while out cruising toward the end. Well done!
So glad this EM1 found a good caring home with you! Fun to watch all the little fixes. Also might have to try the black paint polishing on my old neglected black paint (‘07 VW Rabbit). Would totally watch another video on the rest of the work on this car.
Electron Blue. I love the color. But it is kind of like a giant "STEAL ME" sign nowadays. If I could have any color civic, it would definitely be Championship White. Currently have a fading Vogue Silver EJ8.
Its actually very lucky it didnt get stolen, auto crime is actually very bad here. Thing is, most of the young criminals these days don't know how to drive manual 🤣
Looks great, wish I still had my civic of that generation. For black car owners I recommend pro p-29. It's what we used to help with color fade on older black cars. Makes it look liquid black.
Very nice! The EM1 are a special car during that era. Yes, it's a Civic but one of the funnest cars to drive. My 2000 EM1 is being fully painted to the stock black color with all stock OEM parts and optional spoiler and stock rims. It's hopefully gonna be ready next week. The next step is installing the Yonaka Full Catback Exhaust, Yonaka 4 in 1 header and AEM V2 Cold Air Intake. I will share when its all done! It's been a massive project.
Your Civic is looking sweet. labor of love.... I added BT to my 95 Civic factory radio as well. Mine was plug and play via the DIN port for the CD changer on the back of the radio.
I thought about using the DIN port but I was under the impression it wouldn't activate without an OEM CD changer connected. How did you get around that? Or did you have a CD changer?
I bought a stitch on leather steeringwheel cover on ali express for super cheap that i painstakingly stitched around my steeringwheeel as the coating on the factory stitched leather wheel was turning gummy and it looked like crap. The thing was very surprisingly nice and feels amazing. My car is a cruze, but i bought my buddy one for his rsx off there that was the same quality for cheap too. Best part is you could pick the stitching color. It wasnt super hard to stitch, just time consuming.
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. Wanted to replace my steering wheel, but wanted to retain SRS. Went to the junkyard today and got a 1st gen CRV steering wheel. I don't know what they're made out of, but they always seem to be in way better shape than similar aged civic steering wheels. Plus the color seems to be an exact match for the civic dark grey.
@@AcuraAdvice Here is some help from me. A direct replacement 48 state cat costs $100 USD. I just did it to my 144k mile EJ8, shipped out of Canada for $120 USD from ebay. While the anti fouler trick will turn the light off (for awhile) sooner or later it is going to come back on. I've seen people go mad chasing lean/rich codes when it was an anti fouler. So it's best to just throw a new cat, as long as you're not trying to move to california or colorado. Those are the states that require the $400+ USD cats.
I am a proud owner of a FL5 CTR now but back in '99 I had 3 friends that had the EM1 Si in Red, Blue, and Black and to me that was the 'it' car to have for late teens to early adults. I mean it's not like any of us could afford Supra Turbos. I tried looking for a nice example for the moments when I had the money but they're way to expensive in the US. Your SiR badge, you prob could find an actual one on Yahoo Auctions in Japan. I am no stranger to that since I use to have a '96 Suzuki Alto Works and a '91 Honda Beat. I love them kei's.

What is up fellow desert dwelling EJ8 owner. Nevada here. And it always blows my mind exactly how rusty cars that aren't in the desert get. My 98 EJ8 coupe actually lived some of its life in arizona and california. I am currently in the process of manual swapping my d16, with plans to k swap it eventually. As K series motors are plentiful right now, The issue I am having with either swap is finding the right transmission for the right price. D series trannys are plentiful and cheap. B and K manual trannys you cant touch one for at least $1,200, BUT the motor is where the K swap becomes more ideal to me. You can find k24 tsx engines in town, with under 60k miles, for $1,200. B series is going to be at least 2 grand just for the engine with lord knows how many miles.

So get a 99-00 EJ8, start searching for em1 suspension parts, and a b16? Because AFAIK, the main difference between your run of the mill EJ8 and EM1, besides the drivetrain, is in the suspension.
