This video is easily their best work and deserves an emmy if they do exist for youtubers. I've seen a few Hagerty videos with Cammisa. I prefer this channel because they actually let you see the details of each car, including the interior. Cammisa did the Taurus SHO video and not once did he go over details on the interior. Plus, Cammisa doesn't take you out on the road like this channel does and let you experience first hand what it's like to drive. Instead, we get lots of footage with him sitting in front of the car inside the garage. The production values on this channel is incredible. That first person view from the drivers seat out the window is amazing. I still don't know how they mounted a high end camera to his head like that.
Large budget doesn't have to result in good editing. Many films of recent years reveal this. Filmmaking takes money but good editing is more about talent and skill than money.
@rasa porosangue I spent a few days in one of these last year. It’s a hard thing to explain. The balance of the car is such that the front end pulls the back end around so it feels balanced almost like a RWD. That’s probably the best way I can describe it.
@rasa porosangue I had a GSR back in the day with many engine and suspension mods (some lifted from an actual Type R), and when setup properly with some good front negative camber, you could truly "turn with the throttle". just after corner entry, the rear would start to step out, and you could balance it with throttle input. It wasn't the extreme drop-throttle moves you had to do in some FWD cars to get the rear to step out, because the car wanted to step out a little bit naturally. Then you'd use the throttle to adjust the attitude of the car as necessary. I had a friend with a '99 BMW M-coupe drive my car at the track once, and he told me, it "doesn't feel like a FWD car"..
Yes, that's what Car and Driver or Motor Trend (I forget which) called it back in 1995. Specifically, they called its VTEC an "engineering masterpiece."

What's so amusing about Mark driving this car on the track is that he's been more speechless than in any other car he's driven. It's kind of like this modded Type R saying: "Just shut up and drive. I'll do the talking!" Your true passion came through on this one.
I noticed that too. As a 90's kid and car guy, the Type-R evokes such fond memories of my youth. I couldn't have asked for a better childhood best friend and we were completely immersed in the car culture of the mid-late 90's. Sure much of it was observed through Gran Turismo and Road & Track but that doesn't make it any less special. Amazing times, amazing decade, amazing car.
As much as I love this channel, this is the first video I've ever felt compelled to comment on. This is an absolute masterpiece. It should be shown in schools to show up and coming videographers how to use audio, visuals, and a great storyline to evoke emotion. Simply put, this is a masterclass in storytelling, and I'll keep watching every mommy SUV with a CVT review to keep supporting videos like this. #WheresThePianoBlack
I seen probably thousands of car videos, this is one of if not the most entertaining and informative video i've ever seen, fantastic job mark and jack, thanks again.
Exactly. Loads of best contents out there. For example best review of Honda S2000, there’s no better S2k video out there. Just an example, but all videos are really good.
Having had a 1998 ITR, this video literally made me tear up with nostalgia. You are correct that few other cars have brought that kind of connected visceral feel as the Type R, with my BRZ being a distant second. Driving an Audi now, I've tossed around the idea of going to a new Civic Type R or waiting to see if there is a performance version of the new Integra, but we know what happens when you buy cars trying to chase nostalgia, in fact, you have spoken about it many times. On a side note, this is why I'm getting more into motorcycles; they may be the last vehicles touched by electric motors and electronic nannies.
I love this comment. Thanks for sharing. I miss my track focused CRX, with a B16A1 swap. Cheers. I'll add this: I'm in law school, sold the CRX just as I started school at thirty. I keep telling my son, who is four, that when we graduate, we'll build a track focused, 90's Honda - not sure as to the chassis. I'm convinced that rebuilding 90's sports cars will be the anecdote to today's vehicles. Have a good one.
I worked for Acura from 1998 to 2000 and I had the rare opportunity to drive more than once a brand new Type R. Still to this day, it was one of the best driving experiences of my life.
@@VPoje I went in to my local Acura dealer to order it and the female salesperson had never heard of a Type R. She kept telling me I must have meant I wanted a GS-R😂
@@kmpaton Ya they were rare. I was in Canada and we got 80 of them for the country in 97 and 120 from 98 on. So around 500 of them were sold in Canada. Im proud to say to sold 2 of them.
Same. Interspersing Senna's magic qualy lap at Monaco was utterly masterful and linked that V10 to it's little brother in a manner that took my breath away. I nearly cried.
Weird how this video made me a bit emotional, especially the end. The younger generation will never know the nostalgia and how much we reminiscence of the good 'ol days. We grew up in an era that evolved too fast, and all the great simple things disappeared too quickly. Thanks for this amazing video. P.S. Acura, this is how you advertise a car. Not by mimicking Nike's marketing catalog.
I'm 37, I get it, but every younger generation feels the same about their "good 'ol days". For Gen Z / younger, it'll be the same. In twenty or thirty years, they'll yearn for a time before Metaverses and VR/AR everything and daily climate disasters.
TBF I'm 29 and still got to own one briefly 5 years ago when they were affordable (in NZ) . All of these high revving NA engines have kind of screwed me up for cars that are available now
The problem is that everybody who grew up with the Integra name are now in our 30s and needs something sized like an MDX. Here's to hoping the MDX type-S has an ounce of the personality of my 97 Prelude I had in high school.
That was my first thought. I was surprised considering he owned a new GTI. Damn I should move to the US lol you guys have too much money to complain about anything.

This is an amazing tribute, perfectly capturing the essence of the subject. Mine was #177, Championship White, 1997 model year. It is still the best car I have ever owned. Nothing else has the same raw, honest connection between road, car, and driver.
Some RUclips car reviewers I watch while sitting in the toilet. With savagegeese I have to dedicate time in front of my 4k IPS color calibrated monitor in order to pay respect to the production value. What a spectacular video as always.
This has to be the best review of an Acura integra type r I have ever seen thank you guys. Without a doubt, one of the best automotive videos on this platform. A masterpiece. If you aren't already proud of this video, you damn well should be.
What and incredible piece!! Thanks for all your hardwork, and for just letting the car do the talking. This is why people fell in love with VTEC, and why it's so sought after, especially today.
Incredibly high quality content guys. You touched emotion without being cheesy. You brought nostalgia without the nihilistic perspective that can follow. Your cinematography was appropriate and screamed professional. Your banter was narratively driven but light. I came for the reviews but am staying to see your evolution both personally and professionally.
Absolute chills, you guys. This is why we love what we do. This is the connection of people and cars. I learned how to drive in an '86 Integra, and went on to own every generation including the RSX-S. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

"Ghosts From The Past" what a great video. It felt like a history documentary in the best way possible. I love this car. Please do more of this content. Fantastic. Thx
Exactly. Just think about what Honda delivered within a few years. The EK9, the DC2, the S2000, the EP3, the DC5, the FD2... Oh and the NSX. All awesome, all current and future classics.
This video has all the feels. I was finishing up college in 2001 and I can remember seeing these cars around. I was able to take one for a spin and sweeping that tach to 8k and hearing that beautiful engine solidified my quest to purchase a S2000 when I graduated college and I did. I miss these raw driver cars. Thanks for all the effort you put into these videos.
I graduated college in 02 and promised myself when I actually made any money I would buy t😉my 2 grails: 02 s2k and 02 e46m3. Today I have both in my garage 👍🏻
@@mrlong6267 That's great to hear! Sadly, I sold my S2000 when I had my first child. The car just sat and sat... Collected dust. I probably should have kept it, but now my "fun" car is a Lexus GS F.
I’m much too young to be into this vehicle. I was 4 years old when I got to sit in an S2K in the Honda Showroom in Eastern Washington. I wasn’t really into integras either, just thought of them as another racey-like civic like the RSX. I feel like I’ve just met my soulmate after watching this
I love everything about this video and it’s documentation of the DC2 Type R. It reminds me of my Honda-tech days posting there. I owned a GS-R with several Type R parts but never got my hands on an ITR. I miss the car having sold it out of college but still have photos and videos from it.
You’ve made lots of great reviews, but since I am “of that age,” this video was bordering emotional for me. Thinking of cars and memories and people through my life. The first few minutes were absolutely the best you’ve done. Congrats on a great nostalgic review.
I've owned a DC2 since 2012. I bought it for very little money at the time, and was not aware of how profound the experience of driving one would be. Many times I was told i should get rid of it, but I never could. I always gave the excuse that it was an investment and that it would be worth more money in the future. That's what they wanted to hear. But it was never about the money for me. It was because of what i feel every time i get behind the wheel. This video honestly had me holding back tears, to see a car I've loved for so long get the appreciation i believe it deserves. You've done me a great service today. Thank you for sharing your passion and thank you for all the effort that goes into creating these pieces.
Legendary car, but I was just a little too young and a lot too poor to buy one at the time. By the time I could have gotten one used, turbo AWD cars were a thing and motorcycles entered my life. If you had told me in '97 that I'd be riding motorcycles making more power than an ITR one day, I would have called you an idiot, but in it's day this was a fantastic bang-for-the-buck machine. Great video guys!
A good friend had and raced a 99 from the day he got it. These things were at every solo event and track day in the late 90's through the early 00's. It's not that they were under-appreciated as much as very few back then knew the proper context to drive them in. I bought an S2K CR when they came out directly because of my experience with the ITR. Brilliant machine.
As Mark stated on the live chat he doesn’t want to follow a standard formula that so many car review RUclipsrs do and that’s why no one else comes close. Keep up the excellent work gentlemen!!! As an aside, since Senna came up in this video, search for his qualifying lap for the Spanish GP 1990 here on RUclips. Completely mental.
Damn skippy, this has to be one of your best reviews hands down. You can really see and feel the love you put into this little piece of heaven, it's Oscar worthy. Well done sir. The car sounds amazing and I hope they can capture some of the magic for the new one. VTEC for life!
amazing video "there's always an end" , gave me shivers i still have and love my '95 GSR , original owner purchased when i was 20 (yes i've had the car 26 years now) LOVE DC2 & VTEC every chance i can drive it. long live HONDA : )
100% agree. I also have a 95 GSR with a Type R swap - track car. I have had it from 1997 and transitioned from street to Autocross to time attack / HDPE over time. Never fails to give me a smile. Fantastic video. Not a single thing I disagree with. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m gonna go and watch it again!😂
I was about 24. Test drove an Integra (no GSR's on the lot), was refused a test-drive for a Camaro Z-28... but ended up buying a used '90 Talon AWD. Still an awesome car, but I remember what the GSR would have been... Beautiful machine. It'll be neat to see what they do to differentiate the new one from the new Civic...
That might be the best monologue intro I've heard from you. Old memories are fragments. I've forgotten so many things but whenever I pick up my photo albums some pictures gave me an uneasy feeling--- where has the time gone?
Thank you for this video. I remember being 20 and going into the Acura dealer across from my old High School in Jacksonville, FL and looking at one. They were 23k and I still remember that bright mirror swing tag still to this day. They had 3 Type R's sitting in the floor, 2 yellow and 1 black. I got in, liked it but felt it wasn't luxurious enough. I drove down the road and bought a 2000 Honda Accord EX V6 fully loaded instead. I sold that car 2 years later at a loss as it was even more than the Type R was. I said if they EVER came out with a Type R again I would not hesitate and buy one. In 2019 I bought my blue Civic Type R and love every minute of owning it. I will never get rid of this car and it's my perfect dad car for my son and daily driver. Thanks for the memories.
@@oldsklteg Yah MSRP on a loaded accord coupe in 2000 was right at 27K. I got it for 25.5k out the door, sold it 2 years later for 15k! Huge loss. I said I would NEVER make that mistake again and I didn't.
I love that you made this, thank you. The car was absolutely iconic, and is still the stuff of dreams. A fitting homage to such an engaged, well honed machine.
Thank you Mark For taking me back 20 years when life was simpler and cars were high revving real drivers cars. Thanks for letting me relive my youth for about 22 minutes… Hands down one of the best car videos of all time.

As a new Civic type R owner, I'm digging back in to Hondas history and have to say; you make some astoundingly great videos! I'm so excited to revisit the amazing engineering and racing history behind Honda, much as I've never seen before. @chen1330 To be fair, they're pretty similar in their origins. Both are based off of a normal car in their lineup with upgraded suspension and an amazing engine. The ITR is definitely the more focused car though and would probably compare better with the Z4M Coupe that came a little bit after.

Brilliant work guys. This is an absolute masterpiece of nostalgia, cinematography, and sound.
This isn't just a RUclips video. This is a masterpiece. Lordy, these old Honda motors sound incredible.
From about 1998-2002, my friends and I all had a bunch of tuned Honda's and Integra's. I lived it, and it was great.
What I don’t understand is how does he not have 1 mil subscribers? Material and content is gold
Exactly. Loads of best contents out there. For example best review of Honda S2000, there’s no better S2k video out there. Just an example, but all videos are really good.
Thanks for the time spent on this. One of the best Internet videos I have ever seen.
I miss my '97 R dearly. I have typed and said that sentence too many times in the past 16 years.
The sound of that motor literally gave me goosebumps. A video. Of a car. Gave me goosebumps. Amazing!
Same. Interspersing Senna's magic qualy lap at Monaco was utterly masterful and linked that V10 to it's little brother in a manner that took my breath away. I nearly cried.
This might be the best video from this channel, ever. I can’t wait to see some more ghosts from the past!
Nah. Lexus videos are better especially the LC 500 and LFA
The LC500 video was amazing.
All of these high revving NA engines have kind of screwed me up for cars that are available now
You have taken RUclips car reviews to a whole new level! This is a cinematic experience worthy of an Oscar!
This is probably the greatest car review of all time! I just shared it with all of my fellow gearhead friends. Thank you for making amazing art! 👏🏻
Ah, timing is perfect since the 2022 Acura Integra gets revealed tomorrow.
Wot 😅

The biggest revelation of this video is that I just found out Jack is only 27 years old. I am 34 and I was certain I was watching an elder.
I legitimately thought he was a good 10 years older, and a good part of that was his statesman-like voice!
Keep in mind that he's been featured since 2017 or so, when he'd be around 24.
I'm 32 and always thought he was steadily approaching his 40s as he looks way older than I do. That blows my mind.
That was my first thought. I was surprised considering he owned a new GTI. Damn I should move to the US lol you guys have too much money to complain about anything.
@@johnnytifosi, he does have an engineering degree - it's a lot of work but does pay well.

This video is amazingly perfect, thank you!
As a Civic SI and an S2000 owner, this video coming out this morning made my day. :)

There was a guy at my college in 2001 that had a yellow one. It sounded soooo damn good!
I’m much too young to be into this vehicle. I was 4 years old when I got to sit in an S2K in the Honda Showroom in Eastern Washington.
I wasn’t really into integras either, just thought of them as another racey-like civic like the RSX.

I love everything about this video and it’s documentation of the DC2 Type R. It reminds me of my Honda-tech days posting there. I owned a GS-R with several Type R parts but never got my hands on an ITR. I miss the car having sold it out of college but still have photos and videos from it.
This is not only the best SG video I've ever seen, but one of the best car videos I've ever seen on any medium. An absolute triumph.
I’m pretty sure with this video going viral in the car community, the value just jumped.
Hope 'Ghosts From the Past' becomes a series. Love it!
Watching this masterpiece again. It's insane that this video can be watched for free on RUclips.
Still have the CR?
As Mark stated on the live chat he doesn’t want to follow a standard formula that so many car review RUclipsrs do and that’s why no one else comes close. Keep up the excellent work gentlemen!!!
As an aside, since Senna came up in this video, search for his qualifying lap for the Spanish GP 1990 here on RUclips. Completely mental.
