This was very helpful, Rudy. I use Auto ISO a great deal, in either manual or AV mode, especially in wildlife photography. I like using exposure compensation a lot, and assigning a button to do that is much easier than pressing the Q button and swiping or rolling a dial, while making sure the exposure compensation is highlighted in the menu. I had my shutter speed set to a minimum of 1/500th of a second. I am going to try the auto speed with a bit faster. I use the Canon 100-400mm II, I set it a bit faster, as I don't mind a higher ISO to insure a faster shutter speed. Thanks for this great lesson.
I have a 6d Mark II. When in Av mode with auto ISO, I set my minimum shutter speed to 1/250 of a second and my auto ISO range to 100 - 6400. However, once there is not enough light, the camera ignores the shutter speed limit and lowers the shutter speed. I have an EOS R, which allows for globally setting a shutter speed range regardless. This situation on the 6D is extremely frustrating. Please help.
Hi Michael. You may want to check the notes in the manual section [ Setting the Minimum Shutter Speed for ISO Auto] on page 175 - canon.us/3JzcU3g. Our camera support team will have more info. and can explain the operation in detail. Reach out to them at 1-800-652-2666 Monday- Friday; excluding holidays. Outside the USA, visit our Global website at Canon.us/globalsupport. We hope this helps!
Can the ISO be adjusted by the dial to affect the exposure while looking thru the view finder if you are in manual mode. For instance if I am metering manually and have it zeroed in, can I adjust the iso while looking thru the viewfinder to underexpose by one stop, etc. I learned that from watching a Creative Live shoot by Joe Buissink on his 5d mk 3 when he is using bounce flash.
Hi, Charles! Yes, your EOS 6D Mark II allows you to adjust the ISO speed while you look thorugh the viewfinder. You'll find step-by-step instructions on how to do this on page 170 of your instruction manual. We hope this helps!
When I insert a battery, the top screen is scrambled with all values but camera is unresponsive in on and off mode.LED screen is black. Last used in video mode.
Oh no! We recommend reaching out to support so they can troubleshoot this with you. Support is available Monday through Saturday at 1-800-OK-CANON (652-2666).
Hi Jeanine! It sounds like you are not seeing the same menu tabs on your camera that you are seeing in this video. The available menus will change depending on mode you set on the camera’s mode dial. If the camera is in the P, Tv, Av or M mode you will have access to all the menu tabs. I would try one of these modes. If you have additional questions, our EOS support team would be happy to help you one-on- one. You can reach them by calling 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666) Monday - Friday 9:00 am to 9:00 pm ET. Saturday 9:00 am to 7:00 pm ET, excluding holidays. Hope this helps.
Hi Basanta! Please check to see if Highlight Tone Priority is enabled in the menu under the [SHOOT #3] tab. When this is enabled, you can reduce overexposed highlights, but the lowest settable ISO speed is ISO 200. We hope this information helps!

Is it the same for first 6d?
Hello! Yes, the original EOS 6D comes equipped with the same Auto ISO feature as the Mark II. We hope this helps!
