    I see two big problems in this video - lens breathing when refocusing - but lenses can be changed. And the second is that focus hunting that can be seen at 2:46 - subject was facing the camera nicely and the AF still lost it... :(
    Well at least you've made an honest video! ;)

    Is it possible to reduce the size of the square on the screen when using Live 1-point AF? It's a pretty large square and it's hard to tell exactly where the point of focus is.

    In this video the object is just 1 that is covered to focus. But if the whole scene need to focus? Or if in the video there 3-4 persons or objects. How to focus all of them ?

    • @CanonUSA
      @CanonUSA  Год назад

      Hi! If you're trying to focus on multiple objects that are different distances from your lens, you can try tightening up your aperture by making the f-stop number higher. That will increase your depth of field and it will allow you to focus on those objects more easily.
      Hope this helps!

    So you are telling us that 6d mark II can focus without me having to touching the screen to focus?
    Because 5d Mark II, and I believe Mark III doesn't have that feature. I had to constantly press AF-On or manually change the focus..

    • @CanonUSA
      @CanonUSA  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Sungwon. This is correct. The EOS 6D Mark II has a newer function called Movie Servo AF, which allows continuous autofocus during movie recording. This was not available at the time the EOS 5D Mark II and EOS 5D Mark III were released. However, it is also available on the EOS 5D Mark IV. We hope this information helps!

      CanonUSA does it also work on on screen photo shooting? For example im taking photo at night and i want to look at on screen at 6d mark ii while taking pictures, will it autofocus even without touching or pressing any button on photo mode?

    • @CanonUSA
      @CanonUSA  6 лет назад +1

      For still photo shooting, you'll need to keep the shutter button or AF-ON button held. AI Servo AF will continue to update focus as long as you do.

    So the dual pixel autofocus variable speed doesn't work with the EF 24-105mm f / 4 L IS USM???

    • @CanonUSA
      @CanonUSA  4 года назад

      Hello!
      As Rudy notes, the Movie Servo AF speed adjustment works with any Canon USM (Ultrasonic Motor) lens introduced in 2009 or later. The original EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens was released in 2005 so this feature would not work. The newer EF24-105mm f/4L IS II USM was released in 2016 and is compatible with the Movie Servo AF speed adjustment.
      We hope the clarifies things.

      By default, the camera records in an EOS standard picture style. The EOS 6D Mark II does not come equipped with Canon Log. You can achieve similar functionality by using a flat picture style when recording, such as Neutral. You can also load and record with third party picture styles such as Technicolor’s CineStyle Profile, to achieve similar Log results.

    regarding the Canon 70-200 mm f/4 IS version II, would it be a good lens to take full advantage of the video focus tracking capacities of the Canon 6d mark II ?

    • @CanonUSA
      @CanonUSA  5 лет назад

      Hi Angel. The EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM II lens is great for tracking. However, being a larger lens and having a USM focusing motor, the mechanical sound for focusing may be audible. We recommend recording audio off-camera with the microphone further away from the lens as not to record the focusing noise. You may also look into other EF lenses that have STM or Nano-USM focusing motors that are much more quiet and made for situations that require Movie Servo AF. We hope this answers your question!

Alternately, you can always connect an external microphone to your EOS 6D Mark II. This way, you don't have to worry about any internal noises from your camera getting picked up by its built-in microphones.

    The focus noise is SO loud and constant. I was going to use the camera for vlogs but the focusing is louder than voices. If the g7x can focus silently then why can't this expensive camera? Useless function as video can't be used.

    • @CanonUSA
      @CanonUSA  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Mia! The focusing motor in some lenses is not as silent as others made more for this purpose, like our STM lenses. Using an STM lens, such as the EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM or EF 40mm f/2.8 STM, can help a lot with this. Another thing that helps is using an external microphone, which usually sits further away from the lens, so it does not tend to pick up as much vibration and noise from the focusing operation of the lens. We hope this helps!

      Video autofocus on the Sony is pretty good but not as good as the Canon. In stills, Sony's new cameras like the a73 and a7r3 is better. The focus speed is just as good as any higher end DLSR but unlike most DLSRs who's focus points are clustered in the center, you can acquire focus on almost the whole screen on the Sonys.
