I’ve learned too that you might see the defects and are not fully satisfied, but that doesn’t mean the customer isn’t . If they are happy with your work , and the results ,don’t over due it because you’re not . You could spend all day and go beyond for that new customer , but they won’t even notice majority of the time .
Very true. I always ask the customer, what are your concerns with the vehicle. They usually say something like, I just want it cleaned up inside and wax the outside. One trick I’ve done is to do a test spot on a swirled up black car. I’ll make the test spot a perfect mirror finish. Then I’ll bring the customer out and show them the before and after between the untouched side, and the correct side with a spot light. Some customers are blown away and it leads to a paint correction upsell, others say, I don’t see a difference. Lol. Inside I’m screaming “ARE YOU BLIND”!!! And then I just do a quick one step. You really have to know what type of customer you are dealing with and set their expectations

We are on the same page my friend! On this job, I was hired by an assistant to do a 4 hour job on this vehicle. After 1 hour, the owner comes out to ask me how much longer (in a nice way. They are great people) and she mentioned that she needed the car by 11:30am to make it to an appointment. I got started at 9am. Could you imagine the displeasure of the customer if she came out to see her seats taken out of her brand new $150,000 car and that I would be another 9 hours!!! Luckily I finished at 11:24am and got a healthy tip, and a happy customer. Luckily I hadn’t set up my tent yet lol
