Customer Scammed By The Dealer | The Detailing Business

- This customer purchased a brand new vehicle and was scammed from the start. The customer called on me to repair the damage from the dealer. Today I will be doing what looks to be a major paint correction but really I'm just finishing the dealers job to return this vehicle to brand new condition.

The bassist in one of my bands bought a brand new BMW M3 last summer (22), and the dealer forced him to pay the extra $3,000.00 for their "coating".
The maintained kit included was is a cleaner wax. No coating requires a cleaner wax for maintaince.
When he picked up his new Macan that we gave a full ppf, he dropped off the M3 for ppf on the front clip.
While we were inside the building a bird pooped some purple crap on his M3 as it sat in the parking lot. No prob, he's got it coated....
When he left I washed it, and that bird crap was etched into the paint. It was mere minutes.
So while it was there I did a light correction and coated with Optimum Gloss Coat, which is my personal favorite coating.
Thankfully it's been performing beautifully, but these stealerships need to be brought to heel. It would be one thing if there was an actual coating on it, but this car was clearly NOT coated. That's criminal.

After purchasing my Lincoln in July, I told the dealership to NOT detail it. They were surprised, but fulfilled my request. After a thorough decon, one stage prep polish, I applied Crystal Serum Light. There is no way the dealership would have achieved the results I did.
Very true. Good job. I recently detailed a car where the owner said that he selected the paint protection package when he bought it. They took the car and he saw it go through their on-site tunnel wash. After the paperwork was completed, his car was ready but was still dripping wet from the wash. I’ve never applied a coating on a wet vehicle, especially in 15-20 minutes. What does that tell you?

I had to do a 2023 subaru coating it over. The dealer told the lady it was coat with simoniz coating 3years protection. I wash the car no protection on it... thats what the dealership do to people who don't really know what's going on.. not good dealers are fucked
Simoniz is still a big name in the car wash business and they do in fact sell some legit detailing products like compounds, polishes, and waxes. I believe they also sell ceramic coatings, mostly to dealers. I can't comment on the quality of said coatings, but in the case of a dealership applied coating I would expect a terrible buffing job which would make ANY coating look awful.

Every detailers full detail can be different and prices very greatly by location. Tell me what your detail included and type of vehicle and I will tell you about what I charge in my area for that service.
@@TheDetailingBusiness 2008 CadillacDTS Pearl white. 2 stage paint correction with paint leveling. 5 year ceramic, glass polish and coat, deep interior clean(it’s brand new car) carpet extraction, leather clean and ceramic coat. Rust removal front rotors deep wheel clean headlight restore and coat.

Got into an argument with a dealer about buying the sealant....
Dealer - You don't have to wax or polish
Me - I like waxing and polishing
Dealer - Yes but think of the time savings
Me - I prefer to do it myself. I enjoy cleaning the car
Daaler - Yes but wouldn't you rather do something else?
Wife - Trust me, cleaning the car is his way of relaxing...he doesn't want the sealant.
Lol. Well it’s hard to argue with that! Your a wise man for sure. And kudos to the wife for backing you up. Most people cave under the pressure of a dealer.
@@TheDetailingBusiness I loathe the F&I portion...because it's me saying, no I don't want or need that. If you ever watch the movie Fargo...the TruCoat scene...I've had some experiences close to that.
