    Another very entertaining video chaps. I would thoroughly recommend the FTX Banzai chassis. I have two of them.
    I prefer the FTX Banzais to my TAMIYA TT02 Raikari GT chassis.
    The FTX Banzai seems more robust and easier to drive straight out of the box without too many upgrades.
    I have lots of upgrades on the TT02 and it is still very nervous...
    Keep up the excellent work.

    I was glad to hear your son is involved in r/c racing. Having worked with a school r/c club for may years I would suggest whatever you get should be durable. I can see from the body , like a lot of other young racers, your son has made contact with various parts of the track. As long as he's having fun that's the important thing.

      @@PopalongRC We don't have FTX in the U.S. But, from the pictures I have seen it's adjustable and comes with threaded shocks. None of which is true of the basic Tamiya cars.

    In terms of the FTX Banzai... I wouldn't say the TT02 is an upgrade - it doesn't go in a straight line. I know many people who have massive frustrations with it (even with the high torque servo saver and other hop-ups). You have to upgrade all the steering linkages (not cheap) to get even in the ball-park of a consistent straight line. So if the FTX works for him, keep with that. Otherwise upgrade to an entry level TC, like the Xpress XQ2S. :)

    • @PopalongRC
      @PopalongRC  4 месяца назад +1

      Misused the word upgrade . But what the Tamiya cars give is the freedoms to visit more clubs as they are run more than the banzai
      But banzai it is

    • @simonacoustics

      Banzai will be accepted in the Rookies class at KOC this year (alongside the TT02, 01 and Carten etc). So that's good! (Just in case you plan on coming along). Would be great to see you guys at Adur.

    Hi Karl, got some Eagle wrap around tyre warmers I can lend you for the m03/m05 if you want? I've got the muchmore ones for my tc, but cups are too big for the mini and the wrong size for f1 (I've sold this set to a mate then bought it back a year later! Lol). These are only cheapies, about £40 if I remember right, but they do the job and they're the only wrap arounds I've seen for rc. Let me know mate. I pm'd Mark on Facebook earlier about it.

    Does Traxxas make anything that would fit in that class? 4tec?

    • @PopalongRC
      @PopalongRC  5 месяцев назад

      In the novice class it is open but KOC has rookie class which includes ftx within the rules .. at £80 for the roller it is a bargain considerably cheaper than Tamiya and already with oil filled shocks

    Ok... I REALLY hope the Willspeed stuff doesn't become the go-to design for RC racing kits. Reason being that if racing models move to all-billet chassis designs like that it would make the already ridiculous kit costs skyrocket even further, and that's something the hobby _DOES NOT NEED._ I speak from experience here as someone who also does robot combat, milled billet chassis are EXPENSIVE AS FUCK and there's no real good way to cut down on costs with them like there is with other production methods, as scaling up production also scales up tooling costs and you can't really cut multiple chassis from a single piece of stock like you can with a "2.5D" router-cut design.

    • @PiersPrior
      @PiersPrior 4 месяца назад

      I think the fact that most people in national and international finals are using kit chassis, not running milled Chassis means that it's clearly not a competitive advantage, and thus is effectively optional 'bling' for want of a better word. As with most hobbies, you can spend as much or as little as you like.
      I won't be buying one, but they are very cool to see

    • @VestedUTuber
      @VestedUTuber 4 месяца назад

      @@PiersPrior
      Eh, it's a bit difficult to get any info on aftermarket stuff just from IFMAR and national events, partially because I doubt the sponsored drivers are contractually allowed to run this, which means you'd only really have privateers running billet chassis until one of the big-name manufacturers comes out with a full billet car. I'd say it'd be good to pay attention to what the privateers run at non-sanctioned (Non-IFMAR/ROAR/BRCA/etc.) big-name events and see if they start running this.
      There's definitely an advantage in theory to a chassis design like this, just as there is to aluminum plate chassis. Like with an aluminum plate chassis, a billet chassis keeps the CG low. But a billet is also going to be more rigid than a plate as the main chassis and side guards are all one aluminum piece, rather than one aluminum piece and two plastic ones, and generally you want a more rigid chassis on smooth, high-traction surfaces like carpet and dry turf.
      But again, with that advantage comes the huge cost of, well, cost, and if billet chassis become necessary to compete, that's probably going to be the death of the 1/10th scale off-road classes.

    How about an HSP Flying Fish for your son? Around £130 ready to run and the spec if heaps better than the Tamiya TT-01 or 02. Just install some decent tyres and your all set.
