I really, really love the open stab cut outs, I've had it in the past, something going wrong with a stab, and then... You have the desolder the entire board... So I only endorse this a lot. Also, the front reset-button with cutout, this just needs to be more common.

Oooh, you used mauves on this build! I've got them in my main board; I love the marshmallow-white housing, as well as its typing experience on my polycarbonate plate (my build's theme is surrounding GMK Yuru, so I wanted it to have that comfy feeling along with its wood case).
Even though this board is muted a lot due to the foam, I think it would really suit a work environment with the highs being deadened, yet still having that harder bottom out due to the brass plate. I also can't wait to see the Twice build for this; we've been waiting way too long lmao!

I just bought the Mode Eighty (non-founders?) It's my first DIY custom keeb... ever. I'm excited! Got Holy Panda switches from DROP, as well as silent Alpacas from another site. Haven't decided which keycap sets yet... any advice for first time builder like me?
EDIT: I got hot swappable since I don't know how to solder yet lol
Don't switch out the switches a bunch because you can only do so many swaps before it stops registering properly

Hey, I have a question. Do you think a good keyboard or a layout (such as se or de) can affect the speed at which one can type?
6 months ago, I started learning 10 finger typing and I can hardly go over 70 wpm and I am not sure if a US layout keyboard would help me type faster.
i think the layout is fine, the type of switch that makes you comfort affect significant on your typing speed.....but i guess it doesnt matter anyway though cause i learn 10 fingers type 2 months ago and now i avg 110 wpm......
As nice as the MODE Eighty is, I could not focus on the video itself after seeing that absolute PILE of GMK sets at 6:12. That's just absolutely beautiful.
im using mine right now. and i think this is one of the best boards that i have ever used. now i have the alu plate and didnt use the foam in between the plate and pcb.

I plan on getting this board does the Alu plate and no foam in between make it more thock? I plan to get tealios or zealios lube + film, you think a good idea?
@@tombaker2510 linears and alu plate are a winning combo. i am using inks and it is thock city. i bet tealios would be a super good combo. .

just a cheap generic one. nothing special haha. bit wobbly, but I only wanted the one centre pole thingo for aesthetics.

I just got a new keyboard with Halo True (60g) switches. I need to press these switches slightly harder then my previous ones. Is it normal that I first need to get used to it before it feels 'normal'? I am kinda new to mechanical keyboards haha.

one thing it does have is quick turnaround, with the preorder happening now, and supposedly shipping late jan.
@@TaeKeyboards ETA is pretty good that's true, but as you said, it's still a new brand. And personally I would wait to how this R1 for the standard edition comes out, and if the result is as good as it should be I'll probably join once the R2 comes since I like the sound and I generally never minded stiff plates.
I may sound harsh to them, tbh, but it just seems too good of a deal even if it is a bit overpriced

So I Know the bottom foam is required for mounting, but is the plate-pcb foam necessary? I wonder if it would have a less muted sound if that wasn't used
The foam between the plate and PCB is not required.

Take out a switch and show her how scratchy it sounds and feels. Tell her lube will fix this and make it smooth and sound nicer.

You'll honestly be fine without it. I feel like if you need to cover a switch in lube, it probably isn't a very good switch in the first place.

What i really appreciate from this board is the big cutout for the stabs: Easy to retune if anything goes wrong.

tbf I have never used this board but that mounting mechanism is so weird... it's just squished in between the top and bottom? What happens when the foam wears out?

I’m in my local state mech keys discord and they made a few acrylic boards and they always make sure the stabilized keys have bigger holes just for the same reason. I love it honestly.
