I fix Nissan. Its just another division of GM. Global Motor
The Infiniti FX35 was the first sport coupe SUV back in 2003 and now every other new car is still using this design. Very ahead of its time in terms of styling.
Absolutely
👍🏻
The maszda cx series is a big example
Infinity deserve respect for their designs! This suv from 2005 looks better or as good as new vehicles today. The design held up well especially on the sides and rear.
I see FX35's on the road to this day and I have to agree. It was a beautifully designed SUV and Nissan put some great tech into it. Sadly, Nissan really started to decline after this.
Def bro
I agree
"Rear wheel drive" count: 12X
"Not front wheel drive" count: 5X
"Made in Japan" count: 6X
I guess it is a good formula cause it seems to work great... Cheers!
There's no arguing that!
You can tell when he finds a car that he likes but causes internal dissonance within his head, he makes excuses as to why it’s actually good lol
6:23 WHO'S that guy who keeps racing past our apartments at the same time every day?!
How come he always has a different car? WTF?! 😉 😂
😂😂
I love my 2006 Fx35. 254,458 miles and still going strong 😁😁😁
I got an 07 with 150k. Anything to lookout for?
04 with 205K. Only issue it has are the door lock actuators
@@lennybetances514 well as you might know the valve cover gasket are notorious for leaking 😂😂so usually it might happen if it hasn’t already, wheel barring at times and maybe struts other then that it’s Dame near bulletproof . As long as you do usually maintenance like oil change you should last a very long time also it’s not hard to work on them as well since it’s a lot of room. And engine and transmission area cheap to buy if something was to ever happen
@@lennybetances514 door lock actuators and wheel bearings. Thats about it. I have the AWD version and I go through tires about 1.5years. Oil consumption is also a common issue with these VQ35DE engines. Deff invest in a good oil catch can. Aside from that, its all basic maintenance!

The G35 and 350z have the same engine as well! I have an 07 G35 Coupe myself! 😁
I have an 06 350z freaking love that car
Since you have this car tell me about reliability, my friend wants to buy one and i know that they are reliable but i want to know exactly how reliable they can be
@@abdullahbouhamdan9666 well my first was a BMW at 95k miles going to a 350z was a huge step in reliability. Personally I think the 350z is very reliable car. The transmission is smooth and from what I’ve read stays good until 250k miles maybe even more if you don’t do stupid things all the time. The engine is the bullet proof VQDE engine. The models after 2006 uses the VQHE engine which put out a tad more power but both are still great. And they sound great too. The 350z is also super cheap to fix and I got my car at 89k miles and the only things I’ve done was change the oil filter and the oil as well as the air filter. Nothing major at all. Overall the car is quick, reliable and probably in my opinion one of the best affordable/reliable sports cars you can get. The oil and engine temperature stays consistent all the time, your never gonna find yourself getting lights or getting in limp mode unless you or the person before really have hammered the car with high mileage. Overall it’s reliable, fast, fun, good looking and affordable. I totally recommend getting one. Preferably 2006 and above.
@@abdullahbouhamdan9666 mine is good my sisters engine blew but she drives cars hard so do what you want with that
My buddy got himself an 07 g35 and he loves it. It had about 135k miles on it. Hes had it for about a year.
You gotta love how those VQ engines sound.
I'm more into the VK, but I do love a good VQ exhaust note
They're very smooth engines.
Fact
The VQ sounds like a pair of D series civics next to each other , with a catless eBay exhaust ,having a rev battle with a plug wire unplugged
VQ really sounds godlike
Bought a 2003 Fx45 last fall with 196,000 miles and it is rock solid. Absolutely love it. I live in southern Utah and it makes for an amazing canyon cutter and handles mountain passes just as well. Amazing in the snow. I love being able to afford a sport luxury suv (even if it’s 18 yrs old) after owning way too many ‘starter cars’. All of the basic maintenance and even the replacement of struts, etc. is super easy and relatively affordable for parts. The main issues with these is dash bubbling and door actuators.
How’s it going for you? Still got it?
Wanna know the same thing
I have one and it’s great look out for little oil leaks under the valve cover very minor things., the also like to hold water in the rear quarters under the molding and they have dash covers for the bubble dash
Still have it?
Scotty's phrase of the day: " it's REAR WHEEL DRIVE!!"
Had one of these a few years ago. One of the only cars I've had that I genuinely miss owning.
Who says you can’t own it again? 😉
I remember when my sister was diving the v8 FX45 back in 2011 . That thing moves 🚀🚀🚀
I still have one and it's a beast...
I have fx35 2006 since 12 years and it still going and driving perfectly with 190,000 miles :)
All wheel drive?? Do those last long too
Mine is AWD
@@cristobal2GR If they don't have a CVT you can typically get 250K miles out of any of the Infiniti's from that era RWD or AWD.
AWD does take a bit more maintenance but its mostly just fluid changes every 2-3 years.
I think everyone would agree, Scotty needs to do full car reviews! He does an excellent job rating vehicles and giving reasons as to why and how he is rating them! He makes it very clear and easy to understand. I think those kids of videos would do very well.
The best Infiniti to get would be the G35/G37 with that 6-speed manual
That was their peak
I still see many of those speeding around L.A. all the time. I know someone who has a G35 with over 160k miles on the odometer.
Still have my 07' G35 6spd pearl white coupe. Looks like it came out the show room. Always garaged.

This is my daily! 2004 fx35 with 170k miles on it. It’s been a GREAT vehicle. I’ve had it for 5 years and it’s been solid and reliable. And they’re cheap! No cheap timing belts either. This is a timing chain vehicle!
How the mpg?
@@karnikkalani417 not horrible, but not great. It’s a really heavy vehicle and the v6 isn’t super efficient. I get 22 highway and 15 city. But it cruises on the highway so well it’s worth it. One thing to keep in mind is that it is “recommended” to put higher octane fuel in it, so it is expensive to fill up. But it has a 23 gallon tank or so. I’ve made 500 miles on one tank.
Can you run on 87 though which one do you put?
Scotty knows so much it makes my mouth drop.
I luv my VQ in my G37 - the only issues with Old FX’s is the dash gets messed up in warm climate
I 100% agree. I have a 2006 Infiniti G35 with the same motor, transmission, and RWD with 180k miles and it rides like a dream.
THATS RIGHT I GOT A 06 JDM VQ m35. Thanks Scotty for making my day. After talking crap about Nissan Infiniti all the time
That's something a few people don't see, he usually recommends Toyota while trashing the bad ones, but he ALSO recognizes those that stand out from the pack, something virtually nobody really bothers to point out
i love the VQ engine sound, I never owned one but i know one when i hear it, best sounding v6 in my opinion
Go get one! You won’t regret it!!!!
VQ37 best
everyday i marvel how Infiniti was able to come up with a car 50 years into the future 19 years ago
Great video Scotty. I have a 04 and it is super reliable, comfy, fast and still running strong with 176k miles. Blessings.
I've owned 2 trouble free Nissans. I have also owned a (new) Matrix that after 2 years was always in the shop.
The QX 56/QX 80 SUVS are made in Japan. Yes they're outdated, but they're reliable. I still see the QX 56 from 2004 to 2013 still on the road.
Currently I dont own any Nissans, but I had 2 G35s, one G37S & my father still has a G37S as a second vehicle. Awesome engines with good power! Good transmissions, a little slow to respond, but have been reliable in my experience.
I had a 2004 and have a 2010. Both had no problems and both were AWD. I loved them both. I'll say cargo space and visibility are issues but the 360 degree camera on the 2010 is amazing.
Would u say that older one's are still better than tha newer model u have
Scotty, your opinion is valued. Thanks for video. I've always liked the FX35 RWD. They were hot, first couple of years.
Scotty: i tried one out and i only got 21 mpg on the highway
*Also Scotty*: lets step on the gas and see what happens...
My 2004 Lexus RX330 got 26 miles per gallon on the freeway effortlessly at 75 mph. 245 ft lbs torque and 230 hp, 5 speeds, and it’s easy driving. It was my very first car. I highly recommend a used Lexus RX as a teens first car if a teen wants an SUV that’s comfortable to drive but, does not want a gas hog while still having plenty of acceleration.
@@davidperry4013 not really relevant to this comment.
VQ35DE. I have owned 3 early ones. They drink oil, valve cover gaskets go around 100K, coils are an issue too. Other than that the motor is fantastic. I tried to kill my I35 motor with running it low in oil (the top of the motor starts to chatter). Pissed oil from both valve covers, fans stopped working and it overheated in traffic. Never blew up.
Like the Nissan/Infiniti videos lately, Scotty!
My 2010 EX35 awd journey with the 5 speed. Not the cvt. Is a beautiful vehicle inside and out. Built in 🇨🇦 . it's got luxury, speed and a hatchback. Couldn't find anyone in its class with all That when looking for my taste. Thanks for a little infiniti love Scotty. Just watching you helps us to keep cars going and thats the key I belive. Because all cars break down. Machines.
The way he raised his voice after ending a sentence is hilarious i like his style of explaining cars
I actually miss having one but I had the awd version. The problem i actually had with it was trunk space. But overall I enjoyed it.
I wish all new cars were still rear wheel drive.
the car hump was never a deal breaker.
rear wheel drive cars are so much easier to work on, more room in the engine compartment.
PS: rear wheel drive means no crappy CVT transmissions
Scotty I got a 2005 Infiniti G35X all wheel drive and the transmission shifts great! it's got a hundred and thirty thousand miles on it. I loved you video and I love my car! It's good to know mine was made in Japan.
I have a 2008 FX 45 V8 fully loaded top of the line with 196K miles and very little interior wear and tear. Changed out the radiator, starter, alternator, fan clutch and head cover gaskets in the last 3 years- drips a small amount of oil but runs like a damn tank. I just wish they didnt make the head lights next to impossible to replace without taking the wheel liner apart.
I had to fix my gearbox in my ‘09 G37x , but it’s totally due to how I drive so no complaints.
had it 10 years and I love it , fun as hell
Loved to see this video, showing us Nissan peeps some love. I own a 2007 G35S my toy absolutely love it, and I daily a 2020 Frontier, bought the 2020 or should I say a brand new 2005 Frontier in 2020 haha, before they ruin the design in 2021.
that VQ exhaust note is one of a kind u can hear it in a distance and dont see it and automatically know that its an Infiniti

That big Nissan lump was also used in the Renault Espace people carrier in Europe. Great engine, the only problem was that a couple of the spark plugs were really difficult to get at. No problem sir! they are long life plugs. But many people who thought they had picked up a second hand bargain soon found that they needed them doing (at vast expense). Presumably they are easier to get at in a large SUV engine bay.

Hi Scotty, I love how you explain about a "big differential"
🤣😅🤪
Hello Scotty...lovely video. Any comments about the 4x4 version?
Hey Scotty! Thanks for the review. I sold Infiniti’s back in 2003-2004 when these models came out and the FM (Front Midship) RWD based platform with the 3.5 liter VQ engine was one of the most reliable and best handling value luxury cars in the market. I now own the latest and last Evolution of the FX35 on this platform (2017 QX70 Limited). It’s still on the FM (RWD) platform with a normal 7-Speed transmission and I see no Renault influence. There is no reason why this latest model is any less reliable. In fact, the 3.7 Liter V6 is much improved from the 3.5 liter in many ways. Do you have any experience with the newer model and can you tell us if you have seen any common issues on the QX70?
There’s been a lot of complaints with the clunkiness of the 7 speed at low speeds and hunts for gears too much, more so than the 5 speed in the 1st gen. Also, that 7speed that is also found the in g37 and the 370z are known to give out when the car is modified to produce more power. When looking at the q50 RS everyone points to the transmission as the biggest fault.
I've got the QX70 with the 5.0 - it's a fantastic vehicle and faultless so far.
I have a 2004 g35 awd and car runs smooth no problems so far 129,000miles
I loved my 2004 fx35 when I owned it but the reverse went on me it’s was the AWD one

Hey Scotty, why did my lower ball joints wear out so fast? I have a 2007 Pontiac G6. I replaced both lower control arms and ball joints 2 years ago and they are already worn out. Did I install them wrong? Did my worn out struts over-stress the ball joints? Is it because I put on wide tires? The car came with 235/50-R17 and I replaced them with 245/45-R17 at the same time as the ball joints.
The thing lots of people do not understand is that tight packaging in engine bays make heat dissipation difficult and over time compact units degrade components simply because they are dealing with elevated tempartures. heat soaks down wiring and affects electronics, insulation breaks down and carbon can choke up internals much easier. Rear wheel drive have another huge benefit, the load on the tires is shared out much better. front turn and brake and the rear do the driving. One spirited session on a front wheel drive car can overheat your front tires and ruin their life.
Scotty, I know you’re not big on all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive, but you were in Houston. You never need it down there. You’re moving to Tennessee, probably near the Smokey Mountains. AWD is highly recommended for anyone who lives in the mountains especially in winter.
Scotty, I've owned many Nissan's and those old traditional transmissions were fine as long as you took care of them and didn't beat them. Now, I change the CVT every 25-30k w/ the paper filter! We have three Nissan's 18 Versa, 13 Sentra, 17 Pathfinder, but I maintain them like crazy! My '88 Camry is still better!
You can also get a ex35 ex37 qx50 all the way up to 2017 that are built exactly the same as they were back then with the same vq powertrains that have been so reliable for all these years
I have owned a 2007 and a 2010 Maxima. One has 140,000 and the other nearly 170k miles. Both have provided excellent service. We still have both. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.
