I also edited in commentary of my own in places, in addition to relevant external information that improves the viewing experience. A lot of edits were made for comedy purposes, or to enhance the comedic timing of certain beats, but never to misrepresent Hasan's point of view.

Exactly if it's made out of necessity at least like in the case of someone who's poor knowing they're never going to be rich, has the chance and takes it. They're probably still doing well sweetest creation and the former sending it to their friends or family or the larger local economy in the form of paying off their bills or donating to projects they care about or buying their first house. I wouldn't consider a poor person doing this to be a crime. It's closer to winning the lottery than anything criminal Idk

Imagine someone being a Milton Friedman andy as well. My favorite quote was when he was asked about environmentally beneficial practices in companies and he said that: companies shouldn't do it because their only responsibility is to make as much money as possible for the shareholdes without breaking the law, meaning that morality shouldn't even be a consideration. He also argued that it would restrict the free market to even regulate it. Absolutely demonic person, who also gets drilled into every econ major's brain.
If this was 100 years ago Friedman would be that factory owner with a monocle and a top hat arguing we shouldn't criminalize child labor cause the children yearn for the mines...

Dude, he's just a bad researcher who is very very good at editing slick video. You all are just too conspiratorial.
As a simple example, there was a screengrab posted to Reddit of his video that briefly mentioned the Mongol conquests. What picture did he use? It was a Europa Universalis IV (grand strategy game where you can play as various historical countries in 1444) screenshot of someone who played the Great Horde and formed the Golden Horde. (A lot of people post their conquest pics on Reddit for karma)
This man literally did the equivalent of posting Call of Duty for Iraq War footage. This is the extent of his research capabilities that he can't even tell apart a game screengrab from a real map.
IIRC in his video of China, he literally just glossed over the Qing dynasty, the last Imperial dynasty of China. This is the kind of rookie shit he makes, it's just very beautifully made.

@@JaseekaRawr For a start, I wasn't talking about neo-liberalism when I was accusing of conspiracy, I was talking about the rampant CIA claims all over Twitch chat and YT comments.
And did he really "defend inexcusable behavior"? Saying "this is all legal btw" isn't defense, it's just a statement of facts, just because something might be exploitative/immoral/unfair doesn't make it illegal. Saying "let's give benefit of the doubt and assume, this wasn't deliberate, it's still problematic in this and that way" is also not a defense. It's laying out how the typical defenses these insider traders might run to are still wrong.
To me, it seems pretty clear he's in favor of laws that ban or severely limit stock trading for congresspeople and their close associates (given his explanation that a couple even innocently chatting about work without any malicious could inadvertently give information that'd hand over unfair advantage).

Many are quite well off to start with, as it is expensive to run a campaign.
From there are a huge number of sources of revenue.
A congressman could get a gig on TV, writing for a paper (national, state, local), could get a book deal and can go on the speech circuit.
There is a corporate element to this, naturally. Though a company that is lobbying you can't easily just hand over cash to you for supporting them, it can encourage its affiliates and supporters to book you for engagements, buy your book, etc.
Lastly, once you've left congress the money just pours. If you're behaved yourself any number of lobbying organisation or corporation will happily give you a sine curial position that pays well. If you've actually constructively built up links that make you useful to lobbyists then you can get even more money. Tim Pawlenty recently quite his position on Romney's campaign to lobby for the financial sector. What kind of money do you think they're paying him to publicly quit a presidential campaign (causing damage to his candidate)?

Meanwhile in Germany: in an effort to prevent representatives from becoming career politicians, elected officials are allowed to operate their own businesses.
As a result liberals and conservatives opened counseling firms the moment they got elected.
The neat thing about counseling is that there is no proof of any service in return for compensation. It's after all just counseling, wether the business follows your counsel or not is up to them.
In the end all of these counseling firms have become a backdoor for very open and legal corruption, where companies hire representatives for counseling, pay them handsomely, and get laws passed in their favour.
This is done in the open, everybody knows about it but nothing ever gets done, because liberals and conservatives always have enough seats to make sure no law regulating their actions will be passed.

The US government is so broken, I don't think anything would solve it. Even if revolution happens, I feel like we'd just get an Animal Farm situation and the people who would replace the ruling class will just take their turn abusing the system instead of ripping it apart and preventing any future politicians from exploiting it.
