HUGE Stevie Nicks fan here. Been a fan since the first time I heard Stevie's voice on the Buckingham Nicks album back in 1973. After 47 years of religiously listening to Stevie and Fleetwood Mac, you've given me a whole new refreshing appreciation and love for her music and more importantly, her voice. That was not only enlightening but really fun to watch. Thank you! Would love to hear what you think of her younger (& higher) voice singing Landslide from 1975.

This recording is a song all its own. Stevie's voice is so different than it was when they first recorded this that it doesn't even feel like the same song. I got to see her perform this in Dublin last year. Every phone was away, every couple was hugging, it was a beautiful moment. But even that felt different from listening to this recording.
This is without exception the greatest musical recording I have ever heard in my life. This is the song that taught me how good a live performance can be.
This is a feeling no one can ever take away from you.

A beautiful moment between Stevie and Lindsey who have had their beautiful moments and very rocky moments over the decades. I saw an interview where Stevie said she wrote this before Fleetwood Mac when she and Lindsey were the duo Buckingham Nicks and they had been dropped from their record label. She was visiting Colorado contemplating going back to study at San Jose St. University and looking out at all the mountains all she could think about were landslides and how a landslide had come down on their career. Then she began writing the song.

EVERYONE who adores her (from me & millions of fans) from Florence, Natalie Mains, Harry Styles, Shakira, The Corrs, Sheryl Crow, Lorde, Dave Grohl, Beyonce, Adele, Lana Del Rey, Miley, Kylie Minogue, etc, etc, etc, hear & see why she's always had that star quality. Singings only part of it. A bloody important part, but lets face it, most of us can sing a song... but only a minute percent can command a stage with presence enough to hypnotise everyone at the venue...

I love how you have covered so many of my favorite bands already, and learning how they do what they do is just amazing! I may not be able to sing, but I would like to one day. And I would like to thank you for helping to inspire me!
In any case, I would love to see you cover; Off With Her Head: Icon For Hire

Something I noticed is you can see her empathy during this performance, giving it more emotion as well. For example, when she sings “I’m getting older too” at 4:53 when she says “too” she tilts her head a little which subconsciously gives off a warm and understanding vibe. Not only can she project emotion through her singing but she can through her posture as well. Amazing.

Very good commentary. I find that when an artist sings so that you immediately know who it is, you connect with them, not just the song. Some of my favorite singers are not the best singers technically, but offer themselves. Stevie Nicks, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, Tom Petty all sing to me.

I heard it said that in the '70's/'80's at a Fleetwood Mac concert all of the men wanted to date Stevie, And all of the women wanted to be Stevie.

I took my love, I took it down
I climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills
'Til the landslide brought me down
    Oh, mirror in the sky
    What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changin' ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Well, I've been afraid of changin'
'Cause I've built my life around you
    But time makes you bolder
    Even children get older
    And I'm getting older too
Well, I've been afraid of changin'
'Cause I've built my life around you
    But time makes you bolder
    Even children get older
    And I'm getting older too
    Oh! I'm getting older too
Oh-oh, take my love, take it down
Oh-oh, climb a mountain and you turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well, the landslide bring it down
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well, the landslide bring it down
Oh-ohh, the landslide bring it down

You really need to listen to Patsy Cline. The greatest American voice ever. Start with her song "Crazy" which Willie Nelson wrote for her. Also listen to "Walking after Midnight", "Sweet Dreams", "Shes got You", "I fall to Pieces". You won't be disappointed.
