One of the best things about this video, other than the song, of course, was that it was her and Lindsay performing it together, with all their history, and that they were able to still play so beautifully together. And when he kissed her hand, you knew they had both moved beyond the hurt, grown, and still cared for each other.
@@boblewis8838 one of the last interviews I watched from Lindsey and Stevie (separately ) there was actually still some resentment just bringing the "subject" up.
Their past relationship was tainted by drug use & other abuses. People grow, people get clean & they return to their original selves. I'm glad they're in a good place now. I could never listen to this song w/out getting tearful & I hadn't even lived yet. Now that I'm almost 60 it still makes me teary -eyed❣️
Lindsey has not moved past a single thing. He's currently not in Fleetwood Mac because he was kicked out and he entirely blames Stevie for it, and that blame goes back decades.
She wrote this song at age 17, after her first finished year of touring with Lindsey, before Fleetwood mac started, she opted to stay behind alone in a cabin during a few days off, and Lindsey went ahead to the next city, she was trying to decide if she wanted this to be her life, such a profound mind at such a young age.
Yes she had a choice to make. They hadn’t made it, should she continue college, or stick this and hope they make it someday. Soon after, they joined Fleetwood Mac and the rest is history.
She claims she wrote it before her album Buckingham Nicks came out which would be 1973, which Fleetwood Mac was already a band lead by Bob Welch and Christine McVie
For some background on the song itself, Stevie Nicks wrote Landslide in one sitting back in 1973 at the age of 25 shortly before her and Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac. Stevie recalls in various interviews that she wrote this song while in Aspen, Colorado after her and Lindsey put out their record Buckingham Nicks and didn’t receive the praise they thought the record deserved.
Compared to the '70s and the rumours era in my opinion I've been expensive she can no longer sing. Her voice I thought used to be the very best even possibly back then absolutely sublime. Also and yes this is just my personal feelings she was very likable. I don't get that anymore from her.
My idol, my gypsy QUEEN! I am a huge FM fan but Stevie has been my idol since I was 13 (am now 52). She can do no wrong in my book. She writes all these beautiful songs an so much more. When she and Lindsey joined FM in 1974 they brought a new vibe.to the band. FM has been around since the early 60's as a blues/jazzy rock band in England. Qhen the original band starting falling apart Mick needed a new ainger/ lead guitarist. He found out about Buckingham and offered him a job, but Lindsey said not without my girlfriend. Lo and behold the new FM emerged! Such a great band!!
And it was DROPPED from Rumours, replaced with "I dont want to know" due to limits of time on the tech at the time....... Later, Stevie would leave fleetwood mac, because Mick would not let her put SS on her Enchanted boxed set..... They all made up later and Stevie as well as Silver Springs got their due {and a Grammy} when it was included in THE DANCE. She had given the royalties to the song to her mom, who had to wait for that payday, but it;s all good! I have it on 45, from way back in the day, but now also have it on CD, DVD and vinyl!!! "Blue green colors crashing......"

Hi! The song takes a whole new level seeing them perform this now at their age and watching them sing it when they were young... it's like they caught up to the words they sang together so long ago
I've been listening to this song for at least 45 years. The original version with Fleetwood Mac is actually the best. Shocking it's his first time hearing it. BTW she always dedicates it to her father.

My fave song of all time . Listen to the original from the Fleetwood Mac WHITE album with headphones. Stevie & Lindsey had just joined FM . Her voice on that album is pure frisson.
This song is emotional for me because I think of my children being in their 20's now. Especially emotional coming home from Fort Sill, Oklahoma 2019 when my son graduated Basic Training in the Army National Guard and I realized my children were both grown and didn't need me as much and my motherly every day job was cut to now a quarter of their lives. So now I work at a school and every graduation I hug an emotional mom saying they will still need you and enjoy every moment they come home to visit!💝
I’ve loved Stevie & Lindsey since the mid 70s. I always wished they would have made it as a couple but their saga did provide both of them with plenty of angsty material for decades to come…. As beautiful & haunting as Stevie’s voice is, I think it needs to be said that nobody & I mean NOBODY complements Stevie the way Lindsey does. He has an intimate and uncanny understanding of Stevie’s style & can harmonize vocally with her singing & his guitar playing (which is PHENOMENAL btw) is the perfect accompaniment. Stevie has performed with countless other artists but Lindsey is far and away her best musical partner.
The best thing you need to understand is Lindsey is her ex-husband they were in the band Fleetwood Mac together and separated while still in the band. This song has a lot to do with the changes we all make when love and relationships change because of growth, age, and children. Absolutely Stevie is one of the best vocalists to hear and never forget. I love how you said her voice is Haunting💜
And, Lindsey was the one playing the guitar right next to her. They had already split when they made this, but they clearly still had affection for each other
They split around the time they recorded "rumours". Also Christine and John,.who were married split. That album represents the journey and feelings of all 4 of them during that time. It's a stand out Album in my opinion.
The next one to do is "Silver Springs" from the Fleetwood Mac "The Dance" concert in 1997. Lindsay Buckingham had blocked the song from going on the "Rumours" album in 1977 and also blocked her from releasing it with any of her solo work, since it was a song about their breakup and his infidelity (essentially, her answer to his "Go Your Own Way"). In "The Dance", she was performing it live for the first time in 20 years, and the visual interactions between Lindsay and Stevie during the performance are intense. She is singing the lyrics straight to him, and he is locked on her as he plays the guitar, and the rest of the band are sort of in the background, staying out of the way.
Stevie Nicks said herself it is a song about making choices in life, she thought about what would happen if a landslide happened where she was staying at the time she was staying, and she got snowed in and could not get out thank you for giving your reaction to this song.
Well Stevie didn't sound as good as when she made this song back in the day but that is quite okay because if you were into Stevie you just loved her. And I truly felt Mr. L. Boyd's simple break down of : You just need to move on . I actually needed that.
I thoroughly enjoyed the looks on your face as this song from my generation was playing. In these days of polarization between cultures and generations,, it gave me such a warm feeling that we could both enjoy the same things at this level. It was validating for me that the things I loved could be loved by you as well.
if you want to hear a perfect version, please go find the first album they were on, 1975. It's before Rumors took over the world. Her voice was undamaged, not yet wrecked by cigarettes, coke, or time. It's a bit quicker, a higher octave, and she was in her late 20s. It sounds very different.
Great channel, man! I love that you've gone down the George Carlin rabbit hole lately. He's one of the greatest comedic and social commentary minds ever. Whoever suggested this particular live performance did you a disservice. This is later on when her voice wasn't the same. You should've listened to a much earlier rendition to get the full effect of her beautiful voice.
Well, Mr L Boyd does live in Spain. Not sure how long he has been out of the US, but he certainly hears much different music 9n his local radio stations. That said, I fully agree with your point, it is hard to imagine not hearing so many of these songs, even if just in passing.
@@RLKmedic0315 I think it was mentioned at some point that he mostly had heard rap and hip hop growing up. You miss this music by no one around you ever listening to the genres. Or you heard it 20 years ago and forgot it.
Stevie Nicks on "Landslide" -- We made a decision to continue. “Landslide” was the decision “When you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills”-it’s the only time in my life that I’ve lived in the snow. But looking up at those Rocky Mountains and going, “Okay, we can do it. I’m sure we can do it.” In one of my journal entries, it says, “I took Lindsey and said, We’re going to the top!” And that’s what we did. Within a year, Mick Fleetwood called us, and we were in Fleetwood Mac making $800 a week apiece (laughs). Washing $100 bills through the laundry. It was hysterical. It was like we were rich overnight. STEVIE'S VOICE IS JUST SO BEAUTIFUL ALMOST HAUNTING IN A WAY -- PEOPLE USE TO THINK SHE WAS A WITCH LOL SHE'S NOT A WITCH NOR DOES ANY WITCHCRAFT
I understand why they believe it though, her Publishing company is called Welsh Witch, Rhiannon was named for a witch as well. And even if she was I wouldn't care, all the witches I've ever known have been "white" witches. It's all in the intent.
@@LordDragon1965 YES wouldn't matter but her interview said was She was not nor practiced witch craft even though She portrayed one in "Coven" American Horror Story which shocked people LOL ----- Among those songs was “Rhiannon.” Nicks had read a novel called Triad, which she’d picked up at an airport bookstore. The book referenced a medieval Welsh character named Rhiannon, which inspired Nicks to pen what’s now considered one of the Fleetwood Mac catalog’s most memorable tracks. (Later, Nicks would clarify that the original character was technically not a witch, but rather a powerful goddess.)
Cry of Love -Is the name of the band -Songs I would first recommend would be *Peace Pipe*Drive it Home & *Carnival. I think you’ll find this band had one hell of an underground following and lead singer was unreal. Also guitar player super respected throughout fellow musicians. Will be a Gem of a listen ✌️😎Dig the channel!

They still have so much love for each other (they don't show it in healthy ways currently). People don't fight the way they do if they don't care.
And then Stevie made Irving Azoff fire Buckingham from the Mac.

Always phenomenal. Agree though. She started in the cellar here. Held that note at the end. This is a song nobody should ever cover.
Her voice has although changed over the years it still sounds so hauntingly beautiful
You need to do Deanna Carter "Strawberry Wine"
They are two members of fleetwood mac, dreams is a good one to listen to
I love Stevie Nicks, I really do, but I have to say the Smashing Pumpkin's cover of Landslide is my favorite version. Definitely worth a listen.
You should react to Rhiannon live 1 of the best female performances you'll ever h e a r
Sometimes these reaction channels really surprise me. It makes me wonder how a song as ubiquitous as Landslide can be missed by some people.
Their best song
This song is heavily covered but Miley Cyrus does it justice partly because her voice is similar.
The look on ur face is like I wanna sing along and show them how to do it lmao stevie nicks is 1 of my fav singers lol
