Lyrics
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I'm saying?
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds
So, if an old friend I know
Drops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?
Here we go again
Asking where I've been
Can't you see these tears are real
I'm crying
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds...
Oh, let our love survive
I'll dry the tears from your eyes
Let's don't let a good thing die
Honey, you know
I've never lied to you
No-o, Never lied to you
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I'm saying?
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby...

Man this is the best cover of an Elvis song to this day still,. I miss Dwight on the radio.
@Daehawk You got it exactly right.NOBODY could ever covered an Elvis song.Is D.Y. in bad heath? He looks bad.
There just aren’t too many people in this world that can look that good in skin tight jeans (and of course leather) as Dwight. And oh yeah, his voice is pretty special too.

I guess that makes sense as to why he covered "crazy little thing called love"

FANTASTIC singer and performer! And a great gentleman! Had the opportunity to meet him and talk briefly with him. Was an honor and privilege. Thanks Mr. Yoakam!
How very fortunate to have met such a wonderful man😊☮️

Two breathtaking men I could look at 24/7....Travolta's walk into to Sat. Night Fever, and Yoakam "poured" into Levi's and leather pants!...WHEW! Hot in here!!
His covers are always superb
My favorite singers of Elvis songs (in order they come to mind, not preference) are: Dwight Yoakam, Ronnie McDowell, Ricky Van Shelton, & Raul Malo (the Lead Singer of The Mavericks). This is the best remake of this song, you'll ever hear. Dwight nai!ed it! You'd never think it was a remake either. Wright's always been known to anyone's songs & ace them just as though they were his own. This is proof of that. :) Great taste in music, btw. :)
Love, Love, Love Dwight!
I'll give you 2. BIG thumbs UP !!!keep classics Alive we owe it to the legends who have gone on home we miss you all thank you for being a part of all our lives hope we meet at our father's house some day Gods Speed love u man
You do know he’s not dead
Isn't he one of the world's soulful and incredible singers love his music forever love you Sir
Hey how are you doing today?
One of the few artists who could give respect to an Elvis song.
i totally agree with other comments saying that dwight was probibbly the most underrated, repeat underrated, country singer in the history of country music , what a great voice to listen to along with his great band .
I would hardly call multiple Grammys as underrated. However, I agree that he is a great artist.
@@txagcol1 i respect ur reply but what i mean by him being underrated is sure he got the odd award but he should of got a few more and he was never talked about or rated at the same level of other big country artists , anyway thats my opinion.
He was too country for Nashville and went to Ca. Go figure . Great singer writer
Absolutely!!

The BEST remake of all time. Dwight Yoakum, you rock.
I miss the 90s music videos, love watching a great story told while a talented person like Dwight sings! So love his old school voice and twang.
Probably my favorite Elvis song. It loses nothing when Dwight sings it.
Dwight is the first one I heard sing this!!!! My grandmother played Elvis’ version. Ohh how close these two are and how awesome they are!! Fantastic song!!!

The current crop of “country” singers couldn’t carry Dwights’ guitar pick.
Sad, really.
Couldn't carry his jock strap. Some probably would

Dwight was awesome right out of the gate . He is a genius actor / musician 🇺🇸⚓️
I didn’t think like that, when they pulled that gate he was sounding too much like Buck Owens! But he found his own way and he scored high!
BUCK Owens was Dwight's best friend!
I know that Dwight Yoakum was really an underrated country singer, so much talent, great voice, and not to mention the most series man alive with those tight skin jeans, and his dancing moves, OH WOW!! The most sexiest man alive!!! Love you Dwight Yoakum, would give anything to be your age because I think I could have rocked your world or die trying!!!

He may have been under-rated in the country music world, BUT, he was a HUGE hit / albums sold, in the mainstream pop / rock world, back in the day
Oh yeah....him and those tight jeans... Wow!!!!
Dwight is the BEST concert ive ever been too....this man is AWESOME!
Nobody does it like Dwight Yoakam. I became a huge, huge fan when A Thousand Miles from No Where came out.
Helped heal my broken heart after losing my son and a sister who went nuts over Dwight. That was when I found out what a talent he was and still is - Dwight Yoakam you rock!
I'm not really a country fan. But I TOTALLY LOVE THIS SONG. MAN, I NEVER THOUGHT IN A MILLION YEARS THAT SOMEONE COULD DO A MAKEOVER OF AN ELVIS SONG. AND MAKE IT SOUND THIS GREAT. ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER. THANKS FOR THE POST. ENJOY EVERYONE.

He studied acting in school
Definitely. Sling Blade was an awesome movie and he was great playing the part in that movie. Ive seen other movies with him also but Sling Blade is the one that comes to mind .

I thought he was great in Wilfred.
Goliath is good too
He only got that role cause he plays cards with J.D. Shellnut.. chief of police.
I"ve heard a lot of people say this guy is arrogant, but it's not true in my experience. I went to an outdoor concert of his once and it poured down rain that day so a lot of people didn't show. He invited us all to move up closer to the stage where there was a roof. He said he couldn't see us standing in the rain just for him if it wasn't necessary. That was pretty decent and humble of him and I was thrilled to wind up in the third row.
You are correct he is a very cool guy
I got to meet Dwight and found him to be warm, friendly and appreciative.
Ms
I was able to have a meet & greet with Dwight and he was such a sweetheart
It's because of where he's from good ol hillbillys
Those jeans...those pants.....Worth the price of admission right there.
Dwight wasn't the most handsome man in country, but damn that man knew how to wear clothes.
He had the sex appeal. Tightest jeans in country music history, always a formal rhinestone studded jacket, the boots and cowboy hat 😍🤠 And my fave Elvis song❤
You can almost smell the leather from here.
Love this song with his twang, still listening to this in 2024!!
Kids today have no idea who this man is, was, there to busy listening to moddern pop culture country God bless them
I said it before but it’s still true.Today’s country isn’t country.
100 PERCENT right about that
A bunch of talentless hacks.
I can't listen to today's "country"
This wasn’t either. But it’s awesome. There are only 2 types of music - good & bad.
ITS A CIRCUS
We watched Dwight and his band from the front row of the Waikiki Shell in Honolulu.
We were mesmerized by his voice! Outside with the ocean’s breaking waves, coconut trees bending in the trade winds 100 feet from us. He was GREAT!!
That sounds freaking awesome!!!
o wish had been there
love his rockabilly, twang and his moves, OMG smooth and sexy. Wish I had seen him in concert but never got the chance. Love listening to him while working.
He likes to hang out around some honky tonks out in the boonies here in Texas. He lives in the Hollywood hills and hangs out at the House of Blues on Sunset blvd. in LA.
Saw him once……amazing! As were his skintight gold leather jeans…..
This song reminds me about my wife. It was her favorite song before she lost the battling to cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, I miss her smiles, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, and I never miss a moment with her, life could be so unfair most times, there is some pain, I will cry in vain but won’t let you know how I will feel yes, I will miss you to the core! but some times i wonder why bad thing always happen to good people. She’s always in our heart.
Just saw an ad for his tour in US. Outside of Houston in 3 or 4 months. Look it up ... might be worth seeing.
I have seen him twice. Last time was last year. He is as good as ever!
The song was already epic and heavy to the soul, BUT DY just takes the blade and drives it in deeper then twists it!!! Well done Good Sir!!!

I'm 26 and not a country fan but the past few Sundays have all been country music at the store I work in. I hated it at first but when the '90s stuff came on it reminded me of my childhood listening to country cuz my mom always had it on. And 20 years later I now realize that I love Dwight Yoakam! He has such a cool unique sound. Also I've been confused my whole life about why this song was stuck in my head, I never listened to Elvis yet I somehow knew this Elvis song?? well I've finally got to the bottom of it, I can now live my life in peace and with a lil more Dwight Yoakam in it.
Lol, I also hated Dwight when younger ... now I'm here finding it a relief from the trash out there today.

This first time I heard this, it blew my mind. As an Elvis fan, if an artist is going to cover an Elvis hit, they better do it with style. Yoakam paid great respect to , The King, with this rendition of one of Elvis's biggest hits. In true Dwight fashion, he put his own spin on the one the greatest songs Elvis ever recorded, but he stayed true to the details of what made it so great. Even curling the lip as an homage to the greatest there ever was. Long Live The King.
