    Lyrics
    We're caught in a trap
    I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby
    Why can't you see
    What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I'm saying?
    We can't go on together
    With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
    On suspicious minds
So, if an old friend I know
    Drops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?
    Here we go again
    Asking where I've been
Can't you see these tears are real
    I'm crying
    We can't go on together
    With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
    On suspicious minds...
    Oh, let our love survive
I'll dry the tears from your eyes
    Let's don't let a good thing die
    Honey, you know
    I've never lied to you
    No-o, Never lied to you
    We're caught in a trap
    I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby
    Why can't you see
    What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I'm saying?
    We're caught in a trap
    I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby
    We're caught in a trap
    I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby
    We're caught in a trap
    I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, Baby...

My favorite singers of Elvis songs (in order they come to mind, not preference) are: Dwight Yoakam, Ronnie McDowell, Ricky Van Shelton, & Raul Malo (the Lead Singer of The Mavericks). This is the best remake of this song, you'll ever hear. Dwight nai!ed it! You'd never think it was a remake either. Wright's always been known to anyone's songs & ace them just as though they were his own. This is proof of that. :) Great taste in music, btw. :)

I"ve heard a lot of people say this guy is arrogant, but it's not true in my experience. I went to an outdoor concert of his once and it poured down rain that day so a lot of people didn't show. He invited us all to move up closer to the stage where there was a roof. He said he couldn't see us standing in the rain just for him if it wasn't necessary. That was pretty decent and humble of him and I was thrilled to wind up in the third row.

It was her favorite song before she lost the battling to cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, I miss her smiles, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, and I never miss a moment with her, life could be so unfair most times, there is some pain, I will cry in vain but won’t let you know how I will feel yes, I will miss you to the core! but some times i wonder why bad thing always happen to good people. She’s always in our heart.

I'm 26 and not a country fan but the past few Sundays have all been country music at the store I work in. I hated it at first but when the '90s stuff came on it reminded me of my childhood listening to country cuz my mom always had it on. And 20 years later I now realize that I love Dwight Yoakam! He has such a cool unique sound. Also I've been confused my whole life about why this song was stuck in my head, I never listened to Elvis yet I somehow knew this Elvis song?? well I've finally got to the bottom of it, I can now live my life in peace and with a lil more Dwight Yoakam in it.

This first time I heard this, it blew my mind. As an Elvis fan, if an artist is going to cover an Elvis hit, they better do it with style. Yoakam paid great respect to , The King, with this rendition of one of Elvis's biggest hits. In true Dwight fashion, he put his own spin on the one the greatest songs Elvis ever recorded, but he stayed true to the details of what made it so great. Even curling the lip as an homage to the greatest there ever was. Long Live The King.

I remember being 6yrs old,I was in and out of hospitals till I was 14,I have a thyroid condition, so I couldn't go outside and play with other kids.needless to say, I schooled at home.I blush about this now..I stayed home 80%of the time,my aunt would babysit a majority of the time, and I seen this video one day,and I was hooked..Yes HUGE crush, and my aunt would laugh every time she had to play this song and video, because she said "Lisa you can't have a crush on a older man",and I cried...And I said "That's not fair,I LOVE him,and she laughed, but I was 10000000000% serious and said,I like his pants and how he moves with the guitar,I LOVE him,he dances like a man".Now I'm from Baltimore md, you NEVER see stuff like that as a kid.And I eventually grew up,and married a man who could be his twin, but my husband refused to wear tight pants. He called them "Butt hugger jeans".So one Halloween I BEGGED my husband to be Dwight Yoakam, and he did!! And EVERYONE said "Yo you look like that cowboy country singer" and my husband got embarrassed, but I was like "Thank you I've been telling him this since I met him".But if I ever got the chance to actually meet Dwight Yoakam, idk what I'd do. I just Love Dwight,he introduced me to country music. All of my friends were all into rap, goth, pop,R&B I did as well, but Dwight will always be the reason that I have a love for ALL music. But hands down Dwight best cover of Elvis, and YES I still LOVE Dwight. He was my 1st crush, and always will be..He's a legend to me.Hes also a true Gentleman. I wish he toured in Baltimore md, but not yet..Dreams come true..

Just an odd fact. Billy Bob Thorton who played Carl Childers in the movie Sling Blade with Dwight Yoakam has a phobia of antique furniture.

Saw him on TV Friday night, better than ever. Carrie singing backup was just extra.

I have loved DY since the 90's when I became a country music fan. Every so often, I come back to Suspicious Minds and a Thousand Miles From Nowhere. I love them just as much now as I did then.

I really enjoyed Dwight's version. I remember when the song first came out in 1969 and to me the song has Elvis written all over it. Even though the song was first written and recorded by Mark James, and after it didn't succeed it was given to Elvis.
