I think of my wife when I hear this song. It was her favorite song before she lost battling cancer. I wish I could change the hands of time. She was always there for me and our lovely daughter. Life can be so unfair most of the time, but sometimes I wonder why bad things always happen to good people

this dude has always been an underrated country singer or singer in general, seems like when people talk about country music this guy never gets mentioned and I cant understand why. I mean when I heard 1000 miles from nowhere many many years ago I thought it was George Strait , that should tell you he has a great voice and great songs, he just doesn't get the credit he deserves in my opinion.
I agree Felipe, I've loved his music since 1990 when I discovered him if you ever get the chance see him live you will not be disappointed, I can't get the local stations to even play his music. Such a loss people are missing out.
I agree but he's such a stand up guy and. Multi talented I don't think he's the type of guy that would sell his soul for a little more recognition, I absolutely love to watch him so incredible not to mention sexy as hell
Wow, the camera just LOVES this man. One of my favourite artists - just think he should get more recognition. He changed country but kept the feelings and his respect for the genre is true and pure. Thanks forever, Dwight.
mairendee I have listened to Dwight for many years , I hate to state the obvious so many people aren't hearing . Dwight is a true hillbilly from Kentucky who never got his break till after several years and landing in LOS ANGELES . He had mountain music style born in, but he developed his own style through those years . Hardly traditional country with a little rock , and he also plays with a lot of the Bakersfield style of country (his idol and friend Buck Owens ) .
4-11-2021 I LOVE DWIGHT YOAKAM!!!!!!!! 💞💞💞💞💞💞 EVER SINCE HIS PERFORMANCE IN "SLING BLADE"!!!!!!!! HE WAS PERFECT FOR THE PART. I had already been listening to him, and LOVED his voice. Anyway I listen to him 1 day a week, just for good measure.
I had not seen or heard Dwight in so long, and stumbled upon him on utube.oh what a gift it has been to hear him sing and shake a leg...im not gonna loose him again...Im 68 but but I'll listen till I die..He is awesome.
My Papa & I went to Far West Rodeo Nov 2nd, 2001 here in San Antonio, TX while he was still alive (RIP PAPA 💙) to see Dwight Yoakam & it was where I met my lovely Wife on that awesome night also ❤️. Excellent concert, my 2nd time seeing him play there.
840 idiots put a thumbs down on “Things Change”? Guess they don’t have what it takes to know a great talent in spite of the Nashville Machine. Dwight is the most talented singer, musician and songwriter of this day, and I admire him for keeping on “keeping on “!
Dwight has the best voice since Merle Haggard... another outlaw of that nasty, dirty Nashville Machine. Dwight is right up there with the Hag, Buck, Willie, and even (dare I say?) Hank Williams, Sr...
A truly great song writer, musician, and vocalist! One of a kind that bucked the tight asses in Nashville and still soared to the top! Love him and he's still great and working! Sadly it will take some people until he's dead to appreciate this mans wealth of talent! ❤️❤️
I grew up as a child watching The Grand Ole Oprey and the Porter Wagner Show with my grandmother, Dwight Yohkam is the closest musician today to those genuine roots in country music and he never compromised or sold out! I have great respect for him keeping his music true to its origins and I am sure my grandmother would agree!
@@jonburrows2684 LOL, I am envious of that. No, and I shouldn't have said this. I happy you were able to see him. I love him. He's a great artist. Thank you for sharing it.
@@jonburrows2684 I read this too late, I felt to reply. First, I love that song! Then, is there ever any song that Dwight has recorded that I don't love? Nope, not one! I do have to say, your reply caused a giant sized smile from me. There's so many reasons I love Dwight! It's all of these: Dwight's voice, his taste in the music that he's done, his personality, and his upbringing! I can relate to those. I really love the twang in his voice, as was in a lot of people in TN, KY, well lol, much of the south. I like the Rockabilly sound, the influences in him from Elvis, Lefty Frizzell, and Buck Owens. I think we were both influenced, he and I by similarities. He's about two years older than I am. So, we heard much of the same music. Funny, he lived closer in Kentucky and in Ohio, than I did to my Grandparents in TN. I was born an Okie. I remember many, many times with several of their neighbors, I promise, it was as if they were speaking a foreign language! I couldn't understand them! One lady, in addition to this, she had a very high pitched natural voice! I loved those people. Some of the best of the best! Gotta get, and I always talk too much! I always have.
I like Mr Yoakum a lot and I loved his contribution to the Ken Burns documentary on country music. I also loved that he stood up for Johnny Cash when his label let him go. Your a hero Mr Yoakum and a real good guy. Thank you for the music and your integrity.
Miss Jennifer you are completely correct the man has a conscience regardless of popular belief he will stand up for what's correct he's just a great guy all the way around I've been playing guitar for 38 years maybe one day our paths will cross it does bother me though that he's never gotten the recognition that he deserves
After he finally moves on and gets over her doing this and saying these words to him, she wants him back... Now She is the one to say, "I still love you so" I said "I don't care to know" She said " You once cried my name " I said "Well baby things change" 😢 Had a similar story years ago... This is how certain songs really resonate with people on a very deep and emotional level! ❤️

The masters of New country require at least one Christian overtone per song. I really don't want my whiskey, guns, cars, trains, and women mixed with God every song. Can't I get a break?

Cherokee casino and last Friday night in Asheville my dreams come true poo
Yes! When he gets that leg going....hotcha!
Yaaaaaaaa
Love the line "forever's a promise no love can survive." He has such a way with words. Need more of his kind of country.
this guy was what country music was, always and forever
Truly one of a kind.Have adored him for 30 years.
There is no limit to Dwights talent, golden voice, sublime songwriter, great actor, witty, highly intelligent, heavenly to look at,never been a hint of scandal about him, loves his Mum,doesnt drink or smoke or do drugs, believes in God,and waited to find his one true love ,was with the lovely Emily for 10 years and married her this year . AT AGE 63...AS NEAR TO PERFECT AS YOU CAN GET.love ya Dwight almighty, and your wife is so sweet, wish you joy forever
this dude has always been an underrated country singer or singer in general, seems like when people talk about country music this guy never gets mentioned and I cant understand why. I mean when I heard 1000 miles from nowhere many many years ago I thought it was George Strait , that should tell you he has a great voice and great songs, he just doesn't get the credit he deserves in my opinion.
I agree and he is one hell of a writer along with his collaborator Pete Anderson
i agree too... but George Strait?... the voices aren´t similars...
I agree Felipe, I've loved his music since 1990 when I discovered him if you ever get the chance see him live you will not be disappointed, I can't get the local stations to even play his music. Such a loss people are missing out.
Felipe V
Thank you Dwight Yoakam for being such an American Icon with your music, voice, and acting! Truly a genius!!!
Still listening in 2020!! Rock on Dwight.
Sure am and always will 🥰🥰
Right now !
Med to, in Sweden 😉

I LOVE DWIGHT YOAKAM!!!!!!!!
💞💞💞💞💞💞
EVER SINCE HIS PERFORMANCE IN "SLING BLADE"!!!!!!!!
HE WAS PERFECT FOR THE PART.
I had already been listening to him, and LOVED his voice.
Anyway I listen to him 1 day a week, just for good measure.
It's already 2021
I had not seen or heard Dwight in so long, and stumbled upon
him on utube.oh what a gift it has been to hear him sing and shake a leg...im not gonna loose him again...Im 68 but but I'll listen till I die..He is awesome.
Well said and I second that emotion~!!!
Dwight has the best voice since Merle Haggard... another outlaw of that nasty, dirty Nashville Machine. Dwight is right up there with the Hag, Buck, Willie, and even (dare I say?) Hank Williams, Sr...
I Couldn't agree more I Love Dwight Yoakam
DWIGHT YOAKAM ROCKS WHOM EVER DON'T THINK SO SUCKS
Today's country music sucks big time.
I am not even a country music fan but he is the exception. He is very underated. He deserves so much more recognition. Also he is very good looking.
Hi Kathryn
I never get tired of hearing his wonderful voice
Same here!
@@ginnywithag5046 Same here! Got to see him in person
@@jonburrows2684 LOL, I am envious of that. No, and I shouldn't have said this. I happy you were able to see him. I love him. He's a great artist. Thank you for sharing it.
@@ginnywithag5046 I said well baby things change nananana
Hi Jennifer
Miss Jennifer you are completely correct the man has a conscience regardless of popular belief he will stand up for what's correct he's just a great guy all the way around I've been playing guitar for 38 years maybe one day our paths will cross it does bother me though that he's never gotten the recognition that he deserves
One of the most amazing, talented, under rated artists ever
Cannot think of one bad song by Dwight... except Pocket of a clown “. A hall of fame singer/ songwriter for sure.
best country singer in a very long time.
After he finally moves on and gets over her doing this and saying these words to him, she wants him back... Now She is the one to say, "I still love you so"
I said "I don't care to know"
She said " You once cried my name "
I said "Well baby things change"
😢
Had a similar story years ago... This is how certain songs really resonate with people on a very deep and emotional level! ❤️
Same here
Dwight has been there thru some of the hardest times in my life, & has no idea how his music brought me thru. Thank You Dwight Yoakum for bringing me out on the other side of heartache so many times.

Hello Beautiful 👋 hope you’re having a great day??
Hello Tupelo how are you doing hope you’re having a great time with your family
This song reminds me about my wife. It was her favorite song before she lost the battling to cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, I miss her smiles, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, and I never miss a moment with her, life could be so unfair most times, there is some pain, I will cry in vain but won’t let you know how I will feel yes, I will miss you to the core! but some times i wonder why bad thing always happen to good people. She’s always in our heart
Dwight Yoakum is the best. He keeps his voluntary tradition you Rock Dwight
The man is pure, solid country and sings from the heart. I can identify with this song all too often.
This is my favorite'.... "Artist Ever" "This Man Rocks Country" They way it should be!
Still listening in 2022 Dwight definitely one of the best country stars of all time.
Still listening in 2023. Sing your songs Dwight!

One of the very best Country music singer’s ever. I love listening to Dwight Yoakam, he has a really good style of Country music and it’s really nice to listen too. I travel and when I’m driving around Australia 🇦🇺 I alway’s put on a bit of Dwight Yoakam his probably my favourite Country music artist. Would love to see him play live in Australia he should come here and do a tour.
Hi....
Grew up listening to Dwight. He got his own style, gotta respect that. But here almost 3 decades later.....I now understand how "Things change"
Dwight's got so many great songs--This one has become my new favorite recently! The way he plays with the words is fantastic!
He is the most underrated country singer ,songwriter, performer I think he;s the best there is and thank you DY
I'm a rocker at heart but Dwight (and a few others) converted me! Several concerts and many cd's and we are really hoping to catch him here this year.
Insanely creative and popular. Fantastic stage presence, yet you wouldn’t recognize him around town. Absolutely amazing this fellow.
It’s time to give Dwight the recognition he so richly deserves. 🥴
Absolutely
Agreed whole heartedly
Tf u use that emoji for out of all the ones available
When you can father your first child at 63, Kudos
Sadly the left won't allow it 😔
But yes he will live forever in my albums
It's sad that new country does not play
Dwight Yoakam songs.
Instead they play crap like..." I'm getting drunk on a plane".
Its sad they don't even play country music anymore.
The masters of New country require at least one Christian overtone per song. I really don't want my whiskey, guns, cars, trains, and women mixed with God every song. Can't I get a break?
@Nezbit Odenstien They got in the schools, feed nonsense to young minds, then got foolish people to buy into participation, or " false confidence", trophies. The land of theory and conjuncture doesn't always, or never, transfers to the world of Real Competition.
To much butter, for to long. Sacrifice is just a word to most people, most can't do it long enough to feel that real commitment to others well being..... that's when you start to understand yourself more.
It starts with being comfortable and silent, by yourself first, then you bring others you think and hope you can trust into your circle.
They will fail you...... it's just a matter of time when. Then the fun begins, was it you, them, or lack of genuine trust and loyalty. Basically agree to disagree, but move forward because the advantages of said friendship or relationships far outweigh the disadvantages?
For the love of,"insert moral code or faith", hopefully you at least live for more then something in this world.
Please people, learn watch, listen, learn, apply all knowledge and most of All.
Get Out of Your Own Way SOMETIMES!
Riley Green kinda thumbs his nose in a raspberry kinda way in his song "I Wish Grandpas Never Died" when he sings, I wish country songs still got played on country radio."
@@headings50 most people under 40 today wouldn't know good country music when they hear it...sad, but true...
I love how he turns the situation back on her. I can relate to this song on a very real level. There is no singer today that can compare to him. He always reminds me of Elvis, when Elvis was with Sun records.
My baby is in a home now for five years and this song gets me every time , I,m an old man now but this brings me to tears because WE were young once !
Bless your sweet soul, just remember the good times 🙏
Goddamn man...is she doing okay or ? :( ❤
I was blessed enough to see him in Oregon my family knew how I loved his music and bought me tickets.
Two Bulls Here I grew up hearing this beautiful music and now I'm older all the old ones have passed on to heaven and I'm still here to reminisce of the beautiful memories they left me with until we meet again God bless us all 2022 ♥️🧎🏽🙏🏼💫💯
My life has improved so much since I found the loop function, I have a desire to listen to this song over and over today. Its especially satisfying because the beginning and end are the same instrumental.
Grace Shelby Loop function?? Do tell!!! Lol!
The CD HILLBILLY DELUXE BY Dwight is the best country CD you can by
@Marvin Morawski he actually does some music with the Tex-Mex flavor.its pretty damn good too
That boy sure can sing, and he's got some slick dancin' moves too. Good, solid country music that is in ever shortening supply these days.
3:02 I love that little bit of attitude in his voice. This is one of my favorite Dwight songs.
Dwight is the greatest country singer still alive today. That is a scientific fact! And can’t be desputed.
This song, and this album, helped me immensely when having relationship challenges with late hubby. Thanks Dwight!
I've always liked this MAN and his MUSIC ... LIKE I have SAID , WE HAD IT ALL .. THE BEST MUSIC OF ANYTIME !!
Most underrated under appreciated voice in music
Every time I see or hear him I think "God, I love this man". I only discovered him for myself a couple years ago and I can't believe I've lived my whole life without his voice and his music. I certainly couldn't live without it now! ❤️
Isn't that the truth. I've been following him since his start. He is hot and so talented. Seen him in concert a few times!!!
Just discovered him May 2020.. 😊🇨🇦
I discovered him 7 years ago at my ripe age of 68, I,ve hung on and never let go since..meaning of his songs and videos touch me deeply so does his moves.
Don,t let go DWIGHT,,,YOU ARE MY THERAPY...I,m going to hang on to you ON YT forever till AMEN...ÉLISE❤
Sometimes it takes a while for the music to find my ears. Glad it found me here today. Beautiful song!!!❤
Hey I may be slow, but I ain’t blind. One of the best country lyrics of the time.
Oh my heart! There was a time when my husband could've passed as being Dwight Yokum's twin, except my husband always wore a black hat. He sang Karaolke to this song at a local club, doing the dance moves and playing an air guitar. If only they had invented cellphones sooner so I could had made a video, as it was def a Kodak moment. We will celebrate 49 years of marriage this year. So much has changed, but he can still melt my heart! ❤😁
Man I LOVE THIS DUDE...!!!! When the voice and the music touch your heart... that's it.....😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪

My wife and I have seen dwight yoakam about five times in concert here in dallas back at the old starplex at least that's what it was called back then.He puts on one helluva show have been a fan along time now.Still one of the best performers out their hands down.
Been listening to Dwight since the early 90's.
I love Dwight...had the pleasure of seeing him twice, his performance at the Wiltern was superb. He played for us till 1 in the morning . Yes, he is one of the last "Real Country" singers left, too bad this Genre isn't taking off like it should.
