I'm a conltralto and this is the song that showed me that low voices are absolutely beautiful and you don't need to sing in your head voice to be heard and loved. It is and always will be my favorite popular song to sing along with. It is also one of the very few songs by women that I can actually hit every note perfectly (I suck as a soprano).
Yes! Just realized this last year or two that I’m a contralto. Wish I’d known earlier! Got some years on me now. We’re a rare breed and not often recognized (in my experience and I was in several local choirs…loved singing but couldn’t figure out where I fit! Not soprano, not even alto…)
To me, unique voices are as attractive as unique faces. It is what makes a person memorable and precious. When you hear Stevie Nicks, you KNOW it is Stevie Nicks. It is just gorgeous.
Silver Springs was my wife's favorite song from Stevie, she is no longer with us. If you get a chance listen to it. I tear up every time I ever hear it. Love you forever Haley.
I remember my wife singing this to our kids just before bedtime. I can't tell how full my heart was the first time that I heard my daughter sing this to her daughters... ❤
That’s honestly been a big thing to me, my mother sang it to me as a child. It’s such an important song to me that I really want to pass on to my daughter.
@randomperson6433 I've been afraid of changing, because I've built my life around you... but time is bolder, children get older and I'm getting older, too. This takes on even more meaning now that I'm 64 and my kids have grown.
Someone commented recently that some singers sing songs about breaking up, Stevie wrote one that is a legend and made her ex play guitar on it. That’s gangsta. Lindsey Buckingham is one of the best finger style guitarists out there. He also knows how to wrap the music around Stevie’s voice.
@@janpcs11 songs on the album. Buckingham and Nicks each wrote 3 as well as one together. No, it’s not the whole album, but 7 of 11 is more than half. 🤔
I’m 62, and Landslide is my all time favorite song. It has been since I was a teenager. In recent years, it has become more meaningful to me as my dear wife is suffering with Alzheimer’s, so we’re going through the seasons of our life, and many changes, and dealing with the one I’ve built my life around slipping away - the ultimate landslide. Thank you for the great analysis. I thought I knew everything about this masterpiece, but I learned more about it from you. You’re the best Elizabeth.
This is so sad and yet so beautiful. My eyes teared up when I read this, that you have to watch this happen to your wife, but I also smiled because your love for her shone through the simple words you wrote. May your love help carry you through this landslide and beyond. ❤️
This song is about the changes and challenges of life, which Stevie Nicks wrote "Landslide" in 1974 in Aspen's snow country, while her then-boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham was on tour with Don Everly. Stevie Nicks has said in interviews that the song was about her romance with Lindsey Buckingham and their career struggles, as well as her relationship with her business-executive father. Her months in the mountains inspired the lines with the song's title, "And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills/‘Til the landslide brought me down.", which one verse contains questions that most of us ask ourselves at one time or another: Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life? It's an emotional lyric and while it may seem simple, the introspection of those words resonated with millions of record buyers.
My eyes tear up every time I hear her sing this. The emotional connection I have to her lyrics and voice will carry on with me thru the rest of my life. She truly is amazing
It is so amazing we have a place where we can all be passionate and love music. It really is our own personal time machine able to take us to different times and even places in our memory. With other topics it can be trying to see certain takes or whatever but MUSIC.....we all should be passionate about MUSIC. It is special to each of us. It makes us laugh it makes us cry. And I salute all of you who share the wonder of it. And for this site that allows us to share in those feelings! Never stop singing or listening. Amazing post! Thank you for YOUR passion for music!

@drakepeppers4137 I'm in the same boat. But, being divorced, this song brings me to tears. I love it. I'm just lonely, tired and I wanting to move closer to my daughter's family. I hate not living close to her and my son-in-law.
Stevie Nicks is in a league of her own. I adore her, het voice, her songs. I've had the privilege of being at a concert of Fleetwood Mac and it was truly magical!
In an era where so many highly produced, managed and presented female singers seem to have been chosen for being pretty sopranos over actual skill and songwriting, I truly appreciated when we got to hear alto and contraltos with the voices you'd expect in real people. Even better if they were not autotuned to the point of robotic perfection!
Stevie’s voice is something….like something angelic. That said….the freaking lyrics. I mean….these are some of the most perfect lyrics ever written. Smart, insightful, poetic, beautiful, powerful. Truly one of the most amazing songs ever written.
I'm 37 years old and this song has made me cry ever since I was a child, way before I could even comprehend the lyrics. I always been aware of Fleetwood Mac and my Daddy always loved Stevie Nicks. It wasn't until he passed that I had the very distinct pleasure of rediscovering them and falling in love with Stevie Nicks. "Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life?" has really resonated with me since then. I have tickets to see her in SC in 9 days. I know he'd be so happy for me. Thank you so much for this! I hope to hear more Fleetwood Mac or solo Stevie on the channel in the future. The Midnight Special live version of Rhiannon is the closest thing to magic I've ever experienced.
My wife of nearly forty years was the youngest of five children and she was extremely close to her daddy. He passed nearly thirty years ago. She loved this song and especially this version. The "This is for you daddy" part got her every time. I lost her six weeks ago today and this reaction is tearing me apart. Miss you so much Baby. Love you always.
I’m so sorry for your loss. She had a great taste in music. I’m so glad you have this memory. She obviously loved you a lot and you also loved her so much. keep these memories so close to your heart the love you have for someone never dies. she’s always with you and you’re always with her. She would be so very proud of you for sharing your emotions with us. I wish you the most love and peace ever.❤️✌️🌼
As I move into spitting distance of the age of 70 years, I am ever more delighted and amazed by the power of these singer-songwriters to capture the experience of changing and aging ... when they were in their 20s(!) Thank you for providing the expertise I lack to help me understand how the music, both vocal and instrumental, help carry the message, both intellectually and emotionally.
My 22 year old son has always enjoyed playing this song in the car from time to time. Primarily because he knows it always gets to me, and he likes it. Maybe he had been thinking about his last semester and all of the unknowns and uncertainties that would follow. But, I could tell when he played it on a road trip during the holidays, he was playing it for himself and not me. He knows he can talk to me about anything, and does. But sometimes, nothing needs to be said. The music and the message is enough, and as a parent you just share and cherish the moment.
I love the dynamic between Stevie & Lindsay, although it comes from a place of pain. The live version of "The Chain" from around this era is possibly the most passionate exchange and display I've seen on stage. Love it!!
We've been refugees for the past four months, since the war struck here. My wife, three kids and myself, away from home, totally displaced. We're struggling to keep things as normal as possible, for the sake of the children and ourselves, but this is probably the mother of all landlslides for us. Hearing you talking about this song just brought down all of my inner walls, the dam have been breached. Thank you so much for this and for all of your incredible videos, you do the lord's work. I pray that we'll all have better, normal times, and my god , how much I miss home...
Stevie has been my favorite female vocalist since the minute I heard her voice. My dad listened to Fleetwood Mac when I was young and I was hooked on her unique voice !! Her and Lindsey made the greatest music together. I would have agree with a previous comment regarding "Silver Springs". You should definitely give it a listen. Her voice is absolutely beautiful. I love your reaction videos so much ❤
I had the privilege of seeing Fleetwood Mac in concert in Auburn Hills, Michigan during "The Dance" tour. The way the stage was set up, the audience nearly fully surrounded them. Our tickets were behind the stage, which at first I thought would mean we had the worst angle to watch them perform. Throughout most of the concert, their backs were to us. Instead, it allowed us to witness perhaps the most magical moment of the entire concert. During one of the interludes of the song "Landslide", Stevie turned her back to main audience and was facing us. She brought her hand up to her eyes to dry her tears. We were graced to be able to witness this genuine emotional gesture that the rest of the audience missed. I immediately choked up and the rest of the song felt like a good cry together with Stevie.
One of my earliest music teachers berated me for my lower register. It severely impacted my relationship with music. I felt I wasn’t good enough. Stevie redeems us all.
This is the best version of one of the most beautiful ballads ever performed. Love Stevie. Grew up listening to Fleetwood in the 70s. So much nostalgia. So many years, so many ephemeral Gypsies and Rhiannons and Gold Dust and Chains... *le sigh Thanks, Elizabeth.
Awww, they cut out the part where the two of them completely break down after the song. They hadn't sung this song live together in over a decade at this point. I can't even imagine the emotions involved, but the little "Thank you Lindsey. Thank you Stevie." gets me every time.
And the layer of photos covering the ending was a challenge but I can see them kissing and hugging and breaking down. It was emotional! Did you see Lindsey covered his mouth with his fist, stifling his tears? That touched me! ❤
@@jsharik2466 I think what touched me more was the hug, holding of hands and kiss on the head Lindsey gave Stevie at the end of the live performance of "Landslide". You can see how deeply the two of them loved each other. Some things aren't meant to last though (don't I know it, 😢).
@@joannecunliffe8067every iteration of this song over the years has revealed something new to me. I'd love to hear analysis of early versions of Landslide and the comparison to later versions, the changing word emphasis, the natural changes age has on the voice/vocal chords, and just how life has a way of revealing layers that weren't even intended when a song was written. When it comes to vulnerability, simple yet complex guitar phrasing, and the overall feel of a song, I wonder what you'd make of Ryan Bingham's song Darlin. There's something in it that makes me feel much like I do listening to Landslide, though the journey of the songs are quite different. Maybe it's also related to Ryan and Stevie both embracing their natural voices as opposed to conforming to what a label thinks will sell. As you look at the Fleetwood Mac catalog, I do hope you take time to listen to Honey Hi from Tusk. It's beautiful and gets nowhere near the love it deserves.
@@JoanieBC I'd never heard of Ryan Bingham before but I did check out "Darlin'". It's a pretty song (he's very gravelly, isn't he?) although I'm not a massive country music fan myself - more rock, blues, UK folk music and classical music. I love John Denver's "Rhymes and Reasons", Ray LaMontagne's "Trouble", Cam's "Mayday" and many songs sung by "Home Free" if we're on that genre. As an example of fabulous songs which make me cry - try Suzanne Vega's "Gypsy", Marillion's "Beautiful", Rush "Tears" (don't pre-judge based on the band - it's a gentle wonderful song), Adele's "Easy on Me", Martina McBride "Concrete Angel", Tracy Chapman "Baby, can I hold you", Mike and the Mechanics "The Living Years", Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" and Chris De Burgh "The Tower". I think that's enough of a list! If I was to add one more, it would probably be Justin Hayward's "The best is yet to come" (yes I am that soppy!). Best wishes, Jo.
Stevie wrote the song before her, and Lindsay became famous. This song is about making a choice, whether or not to continue in the music business or to go back to college and give up on her dreams. She wrote this song and a beautiful home overlooking the snow, covered hills in Colorado, and It’s about deciding to stick with your dreams or two sort of go back to reality and live a so-called normal life. Right after the song was written, Fleetwood Mac asked her and Lindsay to join the band. So this song is really about following your dreams and making choices, that can affect your entire life
Also, Lindsay is an extraordinary guitar player. Quirky and unique, like Stevie. This performance definitely shows two old separated lovers re-connecting, and we are lucky to be allowed into that space. Magic.
One of my favorite things about Lindsey is a quality he shares with Brian May, which is whenever he does do an instrumental section or solo, he fits it to the song perfectly with trying to be super flashy or crazy. Then, they have the ability to transfer from that to backing the vocalist effortlessly, like it's second nature. Magical
I am 57 years old, and Landslide is still all these years later never fails to make me tear up. I was lucky enough to get second row tickets to see Fleetwood Mac at The Bridgestone Arena a few years ago, worth every penny.
Still hope for the Charismatic Voice to watch Stevie Nicks as singer for Fleetwood Macs "Rhiannon" performance from the Midnight Special, where she really shows her rocker personae with all the power she had and you wonder where it comes from in that tiny person. I'm kinda sad not being able to watch this here tomorrow for the premiere though.
That Midnight Special performance shows the power they brought to their live shows. "It's the difference between Fleetwood Mac in the studio and on stage The music sounds great on the records, but get it into a live situatuon and it turns in to a pit bull'- Lindsey Buckingham. I was lucky enough to see that episode when it origonally aired. l fell in love with Stevie Nicks watching that as a young teenager. Stunningly talented, achingly beautiful, and utterly lost in the music - it's a performance so close to perfection, I get choked up everytime I watch it.
I’ve loved Stevie Nicks since the first time I ever heard her years ago. She has such a beautiful, soulful voice and presence. I had the privilege of seeing her in concert some years ago. Beautiful! ♥️
The great thing about Stevie ballads is that there is a hint of darkness contained in all of them. Never sappy, and her lower vocal tone provides authenticity.
Someone once wrote "If you're a rocker and ever thought, 'boy, this FM song is actually really cool...' that song was 90% written by Stevie" They're right, I was a metal head and discovered the Rumours album the songs I loved the most ended up being hers, found that out later.
Stevie is phenomenal as a performer and songwriter. Lyndsey is another level above. He's a virtuoso on guitar making complicated lines look simple. The duets he does with Stevie are the best. Their story is incredible too. I feel like in today's music world these two would have been left behind. Managers wouldn't have let Lyndsey give an ultimatum of having Stevie join Fleetwood Mac with him. But back then they were just like fine, bring her along, and the rest is history. We are all lucky that happened.
Oh Mirror in the sky what is love....Can the child in my heart rise above? Man that is deep as can be. It changes meaning over the years as you get older.
Having a child of your own also changes it. I’ve loved this song for as long as I can remember( I’m 48) but it took on a whole new meaning when my son was born.
Stevie & Fleetwood Mac are the GOAT! I’ve been lucky enough to see them 3 times live in Australia and they sound amazing live, and you can see them enjoying every moment on stage 🎶
I truly needed this today. This is a performance for the ages in so many ways. Lindsey Buckingham never uses a pick. His intricate fingerpicking style adds so much to this version of the song. I cannot express how much comfort this channel has given me during the past few months.
I was truly blessed to be able to see Stevie perform this live recently after wanting to be able to see her perform live since the 70's. When she sang "Landslide"...I was literally weeping because I was just so overcome with the emotion of it all. Such an amazing song and fabulous performer!
My heart aches when I listen to this song. It makes me yearn for my younger days and for love lost. It’s such a bittersweet emotion. If there’s a voice I could fall in love with it’s Stevie’s. ❤️🔥
There is a simplicity or unpretentiousness to her singing style which reminds a lot of people of simpler times I think, and that’s a great part of what draws us to her music time and time again ❤️
Having COVID 2 years ago, and almost not making it, does a lot of life reflecting. Perfect song for thoughts of this kind. VERY happy that you have returned again HEALTHY!!
Stevie was always one of my favorites. I'm a metal guy but Stevie hits me. Love her. Lindsay Buckingham is a stellar player as well. This is a challenging piece.
If you've not seen this before - as one hard rocker to another - check out the solo from Lindsey on this live version of So Afraid from 1976. He shreds on this. One of my favorate solo's ever: ruclips.net/video/2vrNtkC6rU0/видео.htmlsi=UqN1oGOgETFNqP0u
@@wichitadisciple9874 All those sounds from one guitar - while singing with such passion! Always blows me away. I had the pleasure of seeing him do that live in one of his solo shows; that and the instrumental "Stephanie" (from Buckingham Nicks) were, for me, the absolute highlights of a fabulous night.
Stevie’s vocals are wonderful and unique. Her voice could never be mistaken for anyone else’s. Perhaps, at least in my opinion, her greatest gift is as a songwriter. So many beautiful and insightful classics from this amazingly talented, truly bewitching woman.
Just the bare essentials. The pure beauty of the song and the timbre of Stevie's voice make for very moving and emotional experience. Lindsey's lacy guitar is the perfect accompaniment. Thank you Elizabeth. Wonderful healing music for you and everyone.
😭😭Dangit..... I didn't want to cry today. I hope you were able to release whatever was weighing on your heart through this perfect performance between two very special people.
If I may speak for I'm sure a lot of people, on this side of your video analysises, Elizabeth, your expressivenesss, expressions, the way you show your feelings, make us love these so much more! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Hello, Elizabeth. I'm glad you and your family are doing well now. Happy to see you're back. 😊 I'm so glad this iconic performance was captured on video. I'm very eager to see your breakdown of Stevie's vocal performance, the music behind it, and of course, the interplay between Stevie and Lindsay as the song plays out. As some others have said here, I hope you also analyze the live version of "Silver Springs", as taken from this same concert. Keep enjoying the music, Elizabeth!
I got the privilege to finally see Stevie live last year. It was my birthday present to myself. I have idolized her since I was three years old, and getting to see her perform was more than a bucket list item for me. She's my mom's age, and I know that at any moment we could lose her, so I absolutely had no choice but to go see her. She is incredible; and obviously at this point she knows what she's doing at this point. The things she invoked in people there was beyond words. She did a song for Ukraine, she did a cover of Free Falling for Tom... but at the end as her final song she did this one for Christine. I knew she was going to do one for Christine, but when she pulled this one out I almost fell apart. She said she had only played it one other time since Christine passed, and she couldn't finish it the first time. This time she powered through, but you could hear the weeping in her voice, and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. One of the most profound experiences in my life. What a powerhouse, what an artist. What a massive influence in my life. And obviously for so many others; the number of other people who had loved her their whole lives, walking through that place just hugging each other for the joy of seeing her. Such a unique talent, and we have been privileged to be on the earth at the same time as her.
This was my mum's favourite Fleetwood Mac song, and she ADORED Stevie Nicks. She's sadly no longer with us. That said, watching you start to tear up at the beginning of the song makes me feel vindicated. When Stevie says "This is for you, daddy." I just hear "This is for you, momma."
Fleetwood Mac is at the top of my list of all-time favorites and Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie are two of the reasons why. "Landslide" is a miracle. Even now when I hear it, especially when I watch this video, it's like falling in love all over again. I mean really falling in love, not infatuation, not "puppy love," but really falling in love. Watching your face as you went through this analysis expressed it perfectly. Her expressions of yearning, doubts, questions and reflections was reflected by your appreciation of her, and our own universal vulnerabilities. Even Lindsey Buckingham was enraptured with the spell she cast on that stage. A heartfelt "thank you" to Stevie Nicks, to all of Fleetwood Mac, and to you for sharing your own connection to this beautiful, soulful artistry.
I first listened to this song when my girlfriend showed it to me a little while after we met. I love it. She suddenly died 2 years ago when we were just getting started to take big steps in spending our lives together. She was my best friend. My everything. This song, along with many others, were her favourites. Man, life can be super shite. 💙
One of the most beautiful songs ever written and sung by an amazing artist. The guitar just supports the lyrics. What a beautiful reaction. Thank you ❤❤
I have always loved Stevie, and other great contraltos. I now have Hyperacusis, and loud or high pitched sounds are painful, making me love her even more. I was hesitant to listen to you, Elizabeth, but your soprano is so pure that I can appreciate it at low volume. Thank you for allowing me to love music more every day.
Thank you, for allowing us to share in your vulnerability, through this wonderfully emotional journey of discovery through music. Many of us feel a special connection to this song, and appreciate the venue to share it.
As always, great insightful analysis. Please do Silver Springs from the same concert. Much like the tenderness and admiration you see between these two in Landslide, Silver Springs displays the raw emotion and betrayal and the scorn in Stevie. It is a fantastic performance.
I actually never saw you so happy with a song. You are an amazing and serious professional, yet we can all see how much you love this song and music itself. I'm 28 yearld old boy from Argentina that has started to sing only a couple months ago. I'm extremely happy to see professionals like you that love music as much as me, and they also teach me a lot with this kind of videos. Thanks for sharing all this with us Elizabeth, you are an amazing teacher and a lovely person!
I discovered Stevie in the late 70’s. I went to her first SOLO concert in 1981 ~ at The Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. And today, she is 75 years old and STILL TOURING at an amazing level !!! I am a lifelong fan - so grateful for all of her music. Silver Springs is my all time Favorite ❤️
I would say you are spot on with your analysis. Lindsey is a genius in his own right with his style of playing guitar. And the lyrics, although originally intended to indicate a personal relationship involving just two people, have evolved into a totally different interpersonal relationship with her audience/fans/supporters...a subtle fear and concern that, with the passage and ravaging of time, how will she (and WE) handle it when she has been robbed of her ability to entertain us...a concept around which she has built her life? Time deepens this song like no other I can recall.
Watching Liz do her analysis of a song I've heard repeatedly for most of my life helps me "see" the selection in a completely new light, as if I'm hearing the song again for the 1st time. C/V has opened my eyes, ears, brain, and heart and has helped me to truly appreciate music [of all types] in new and exciting ways I never even thought was possible. I'm truly grateful for having discovered this channel, and I'm equally grateful for Liz creating the channel, as well as her approach and delivery of her analysis in each episode. Thank you, Liz!!! 💜💙💜 🎶🎵 😉👍
Ohh wow. Usually I watch Elizabeth's videos as soon as i see one, no matter what I'm doing. This time I gave it a day for an unknown reason. I am so glad I did, as this means much more to me today than it would have yesterday. Elizabeth, whatever landslide you face; we are all in this life together. I know you have the support you need. If you are not getting it please reach out, we all (or at least) I love you dearly my fellow Arizonian! Thank you for giving us what you know and understand in life.
I recently found your channel and love hearing reactions from a person who knows all about, not just the voice, but the phrasing and the instruments and the arranging. Your channel is a standout! I would love to see a reaction of the voice of kd lang. She graciously accepted the reigns to Hallelujah, by fellow Canadian Leonard Cohen, the songwriter of said song. Her performance of Hallelujah at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver was perfection. Her duet and subsequent cover of Roy Orbison's Crying is unbelievable. No one can give you goose bumps like her!
So glad you are recovering after your illness. Talking about being touched by emotion … some time you might want to review “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman. Specifically her performance at the Nelson Mandella tribute in 1988 when she sang it as a replacement for Stevie Wonder who cancelled at the last second due to technical difficulties. The song that launched her career. Or if you want a completely a cappella song, then “Behind the Wall” from that same concert. I revisited “Fast Car” after the performance on this year’s grammy’s. Both would be a perfect song for international woman’s day.
I've seen a lot of bands live, but when I saw Fleetwood Mac about five years ago and Stevie Nicks performed Landslide it was the only time I've ever been brought to tears, from joy, sadness and the emotional power she projects. So powerful.
So grittily honest and real. And delicately beautiful at the same time. It touches me deeply every time I hear it. It is all too clear she was disengaging from longtime love Lindsay Buckingham when she wrote it. Yet he played it with feeling for her, beyond what any other could have done. Awesome and heartbreaking. There are people you may care about but you cannot live with.
Beth Roars’ reaction to this same performance popped up in the sidebar suggestions, so I went and had a look. She had much the same reaction as you did, Elizabeth, even mentioned getting “weepy” over the song. “Landslide” seems to hit people’s hearts and I understand why. I’m at a stage of life where one looks back with nostalgia, regrets, and all the rest. Glad you’re feeling so much better. MB
Awesome, I always loved Fleetwood Mac, in 1977 at the age of 14, I won a game at the Arizona State Fair and I picked out a Fleetwood Mac poster among the prize choices.
I’ve had this video in my watch list for a while but only just now have been able to watch it. My dad passed away almost a month ago and he and I loved this song. I'm listening now and its making me smile.
Every time I hear her sing I feel her confidence in her voice, it only helps that these two had history because they really feed off of each other in their performance. For me this is my number 2 song to their duet "you can go your own way" that I love due to the pure energy that Lindsey and Stevie show in the song live.
This was always one of my favorite all time songs & saw this & had to listen & now am crying my eyes out. My favorite version. My BF of 43 yrs just died Dec 27,2024 from suicide. "I built my life around you". I love you Eric.
Saw them live. One of my favorite songs of all time. Stevie's voice, Lindsay's guitar, the history between them. Just one of the greatest songs ever. Thank you for the analysis.
Can I get a like for Lauren? You know you want to. Suggestion: Red Handed Denial - “Father Said” (Lauren Babic live one take performance) Recentish version of Lauren who can sing beautifully and scream with the best of them.
This song hits different as you go through the seasons of life. It's easy to recognize it's a beautiful song but when you become a parent and then a grandparent it becomes a completely different thing. Thank-you Elizabeth, for bringing attention to Lindsay's extraordinary guitar playing too. He is such an incredible talent.

God bless you sir. I am dealing with Alzheimer's with Mom.
Her months in the mountains inspired the lines with the song's title, "And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills/‘Til the landslide brought me down.", which one verse contains questions that most of us ask ourselves at one time or another:
Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Thank you for YOUR passion for music!
well said
And she said, "This one's for you, daddy," because her father thought she wrote the song about him, when she didn't.
“Letting us cry for them.”
A ‘best ever’ take. Smiling widely.
It doesn’t matter how many times I hear this song, I cry every single time.
As bored, lonely old man who loves music I watch alot of reactions. You have become my favorite. Fascinating. Great job Kid!
hey man, just wishing you a warm spring. Love from afar
Take care buddy, the internet makes us all friend in some crazy way.
Take care ❤

I'm sorry to hear about your wife. It sounds like she had a beautiful soul.
@@aaronbrown5252 She did
I’m so sorry for your loss.
My condolences for your loss
I've been listening to Stevies beautiful voice for 50 years. I'll never get tired of it.
The fact that Lindsey tears up at the end shows how emotional this song is to both of them and that they will always be connected on a deep side
I wasn't expecting to read this. Take care out there.

I love your reaction videos so much ❤
I pray that you are safe and that you find your way home one day soon. 🙏🏻
This is beautiful ❤️
Thank you for sharing this.
Poignant.
❤
I'm forever going to miss the palace
One of my earliest music teachers berated me for my lower register. It severely impacted my relationship with music. I felt I wasn’t good enough. Stevie redeems us all.
This is one of a few songs that will always get me choked up no matter how many times I hear it
Same
This is the best version of one of the most beautiful ballads ever performed. Love Stevie. Grew up listening to Fleetwood in the 70s. So much nostalgia. So many years, so many ephemeral Gypsies and Rhiannons and Gold Dust and Chains... *le sigh
Thanks, Elizabeth.
Don't forget Lyndsey ,I agree !makes me feel stronger and weep everytime I hear it or sing it!
Awww, they cut out the part where the two of them completely break down after the song. They hadn't sung this song live together in over a decade at this point. I can't even imagine the emotions involved, but the little "Thank you Lindsey. Thank you Stevie." gets me every time.
Aww! 😢I didn't know that ❤
And the layer of photos covering the ending was a challenge but I can see them kissing and hugging and breaking down.
So this song is really about following your dreams and making choices, that can affect your entire life
Woah 🥹
I thought this song was about growing up so, so fast that you don't even notice.
Also, Lindsay is an extraordinary guitar player. Quirky and unique, like Stevie.
This performance definitely shows two old separated lovers re-connecting, and we are lucky to be allowed into that space. Magic.
The most under rated guitarist in history in my opinion. Not just guitarist. Musician.
Definitely doesn't get the credit he deserves within the guitar circle. Big Love is a good example of his skills.
@@class5bodyworks the version of Big Love from this concert especially is phenominal. He's an amazing guitarist/musician.
Magical
@@class5bodyworks especially live. No pick! LOL
YESSS!
Yes@@ThinWhiteAxe
I saw in 2014 and she was still amazing even after losing her upper range. In the 70s-80s she was a force of nature….
Stevie goes beast mode in that performance. Amazing!
This one and Silver Springs are tear-jerkers for sure!
That song with Stevie’s voice always gets me tearing 😢up
Love her voice.
One of the most beautiful song of all time, her voice is perfect for it. I always reflect on my life when i hear it.
One of my favorate solo's ever:

Stevie’s vocals are wonderful and unique. Her voice could never be mistaken for anyone else’s. Perhaps, at least in my opinion, her greatest gift is as a songwriter. So many beautiful and insightful classics from this amazingly talented, truly bewitching woman.
Just the bare essentials. The pure beauty of the song and the timbre of Stevie's voice make for very moving and emotional experience. Lindsey's lacy guitar is the perfect accompaniment. Thank you Elizabeth. Wonderful healing music for you and everyone.
This performance is simply perfection.
I'm so glad this iconic performance was captured on video.
Welcome back Elizabeth, glad you are doing better
This was my mum's favourite Fleetwood Mac song, and she ADORED Stevie Nicks. She's sadly no longer with us. That said, watching you start to tear up at the beginning of the song makes me feel vindicated. When Stevie says "This is for you, daddy." I just hear "This is for you, momma."
When I was younger, in the late seventies and eighties, I had a crush on Stevie Nicks. One of the greatest female vocalists of all time.
I imagine my loved ones singing to me on the other side of the veil, loving me and encouraging me to persevere…
Exactly! She threw daggers the whole way through SS.
Yes yes yes!
Listened to it today. I think it's her best. ❤
This is one of the first songs i have a memory of hearing while riding in the car with my late mother. It always makes me think of her decades later.
Stevie's voice has always been my favorite, and she gets to my soul with every word
Such a beautiful song. Really looking forward to this
Very few songs/performance’s bring me to tears, this one does in particular . It is thee best performance I’ve heard, just Beautiful !!!
This is certainly what you call an emotive song. Great acoustic guitar as well as beautifully sung by Stevie Nicks.
Lindsey Buckingham is an amazing guitarist

Oh my God Stevie's voice!!! I love this song!
Thank you for helping so many of us through the Landslides of our lives. Your love of music is so heartwarming. Be well.
Welcome back Elizabeth! A wonderful choice to return to... hearing this live just never gets old... love the interaction with her and Lindsey...

The best thing about this video is Lindsey. Not his guitar palying but his person. Look at him there is so much emotion in his expression.
Lindsey knows how his drug addiction ruined their relationship.
I'll second this suggestion, I've seen kd perform a few times over the decades and she has never disappointed.
Yes!! Agree
That would be great to see her react to. I’m not a fan of all of KD’s music, but she most definitely has one of the best voices out there.
Yes, I say this as a die-hard Jeff Buckley fan: kd Lang’s cover of Hallelujah is the definitive version
Would love to see a Charismatic analysis of Jewel's 1999 concert version of Who Will Save Your Soul.
That is a fantastic performance!
I've seen a lot of bands live, but when I saw Fleetwood Mac about five years ago and Stevie Nicks performed Landslide it was the only time I've ever been brought to tears, from joy, sadness and the emotional power she projects. So powerful.
Stevie is a world class talent and has a unique voice.
Elizabeth... Hope you're fully recovered. You're always a bright spot in my day🌹
Beautiful, and thank goodness for Lindsey's arrangement
So grittily honest and real. And delicately beautiful at the same time. It touches me deeply every time I hear it.
It is all too clear she was disengaging from longtime love Lindsay Buckingham when she wrote it. Yet he played it with feeling for her, beyond what any other could have done. Awesome and heartbreaking.
There are people you may care about but you cannot live with.
Fleetwood Mac - The Dance… You will be astounded by the power between Stevie & Lindsey on Silver Springs. Guaranteed.
I've always loved Stevie Nicks voice. It is so unique and magical.
Yes ! Thank you for that. More Stevie/Fleetwood Mac please and thank you
Beth Roars’ reaction to this same performance popped up in the sidebar suggestions, so I went and had a look.

She will always be the queen, ❤❤
It's amazing that the sound of this song, which fills up the room, is just one voice and one guitar.
I'm listening now and its making me smile.
great song, you should also check out the live performance of Silver Springs
Yes!
Every time I hear her sing I feel her confidence in her voice, it only helps that these two had history because they really feed off of each other in their performance. For me this is my number 2 song to their duet "you can go your own way" that I love due to the pure energy that Lindsey and Stevie show in the song live.
Most Fleetwood Mac songs will hit you in the feels.
If you love that guitar technique in the solo you will blow your mind watching Big Love from this concert.
Impossible guitar.
Coolsville! FwdMac. Great song- nice live version, too. This was the band's zenith -75-'79. Great stuff. #MakeMondaybuggeroff
This was always one of my favorite all time songs & saw this & had to listen & now am crying my eyes out. My favorite version. My BF of 43 yrs just died Dec 27,2024 from suicide. "I built my life around you". I love you Eric.
Welcome back, E!
