Its funny because they back pedal on both arguments. "X thing if for everyone" *people don't like it "well this wasn't made for you". They back pedal because they don't have a grounded or rational position, it is purely an addiction to COPium
The strong female lead and blatant feminine weak males. It just seems forced. Someone recently told me that there has NEVER been a masculine hero in star wars until Mando... craziest thing I've ever heard. These are the troglodytes that like this crap. They have blinders on.
I really want to know what kind of dirt she has on everyone that she can get away with all these things. "I want to put Yoda in" "No, that's not a good idea" "You want me to share that stuff I have on you?" "You can put Yoda in the show"
She's an envious woman.. She can't create nothing by herself, so the only thing that she might do is create a series based on the universe that someone else created. Maybe she's the creator of Acoytle, but Star Wars doesn't belong to her.
You guys remember when it started going really bad, and we started specifying it as ‘Disney Star Wars?’ This is on another level, this is Leslye Headlands Star Wars.
7:51 I suppose Leslye didn't watch the "making of" videos from the prequels. You literally see George surrounded by artists who pitch ideas and help him. He doesn't come up with every detail himself, nor does he reject everything.
@@misterweitphart3821He would often give general descriptions of what he was looking for. Other times he knew exactly what he wanted. It was a team effort. Take the design of General Grievous for example. Look it up from the ROTS featurette.
Yeah. I cant remember if it was Adam savage, but a model designer asked George about some minor detail and George was like, that's your job to make that. If you think its should be there, it should be there.
I'm taking two things from this: One is that she threw around misogny, but then has a story that contains misogny and a demeaning representation of women. The second is that Osha's "Triumph" was that she sided with the man who killed her friends, murdered her master, and violated her sister.
What the hell is Osha's triumph? She's lost her sister again, in a fit of rage killed her father figure, and she's been corrupted by the dark side... she's taken a massive L here there's no triumph lmao
You'd think she was referring to the characters and not saying these things in 1st person. Give a terrible person an opportunity like this lets you know the kind of person running the company.
Paramount plus halo = producers who don't care about lore Amazon rings of power= producers who don't care about lore Disney star wars. It's a common trend. People have to realize how people with no talent or care are being hired to run these big IPs
Every time Headland talks about Osha and Qimir I get the impression that she glorifies murder. They did not escape some sort of oppression. They committed murder and escaped prosecution. The Sith-Code is about elevating oneself above any rule and any law, dominating others through the means of raw power. It is not about escaping oppression but becoming the oppressor. That is the Sith's freedom.
Are you saying Star Wars isn't for everyone, or are you saying a creator shouldn't have a personal connection to their creation? If you don't have a point to make, maybe you just shouldn't try.
@@MiloW456bro what are you yapping about? This comment just outlines Headland’s hypocrisy… next time, read the whole comment before making an insult disguised as a “point”
@AnoneemusNoename I agree with almost all of that except I disagree that the show paints the Jedi as the villain and the bad guys as good. Only in their eyes. There seems to be a lot of subtle criticisms of “the agenda” embedded in the show that is supposedly filled with an agenda. Dare I say parts of it are actually based from a certain point of view.
@AnoneemusNoename Goddamn. That's a really good take on the movie Fight Club. You're right that we aren't supposed to root for any of those characters at all.
So, just gotta ask here... Does anyone else's skin crawl whenever she refers to "Osha's Triumph" in these interviews? Like, does she even realize what she wrote? She was completely passive through most of the show, and then she decided to ... what... fall in love with the murderer who kidnapped her, to eventually murder the man who saved her life and protected her, on the word of someone who tried to burn her alive... then stood by while that same person got her mind destroyed so she could leave her to her own devices and run off with her murdering kidnapper boyfriend? This is her "Triumph"?
They were gonna KISS??? Did they just forget that Qimir killed Jecki? Her and Osha were friends, she wasn't a bad guy or an oppressor, Osha should still be mad about that - considering it happened like a couple days ago. Jecki was one of the best characters in the show, and they've just written off her death as an insignificant event and that infuriates me.
could have been worse. just imagine she would have stumbled over the iron of some male Jedi , used for flatting his Toga, and broke her Neck. And dont tell me this show wont be able to do such Things.
You know what I realized. We are in the middle of a systematic demonstration campaign against us by outr own people and they are intentionally making terrible shows to piss us off. If u know about "1984" and the idea of 2 minutes of hate you realize that is what they are doing. They give us tons of things to hate toake sure we are in an angry state all the time. My advice is to not hate anyone they tell you to hate its only hurts you
I'd be shocked if she doesn't have tons of info on people at Disney or something similar. Only way it makes sense this bimbo was given $180 mil to do literally whatever she wanted
"It's my show" "No one has the answers!" Umm..maybe the dude who created it does? How did they even allow someone who clearly has zero respect for the source material to write a freaking prequel?! Unreal.
Another good ole Kathleen Kennedy "F" up. She has single handedly destroyed Star Wars! It's almost like she has a grudge against George. Like she's purposefully destroying the franchise. It's weird....
The real reason Yoda went to exile in Episode 3 is because he cameo in the Acolyte. Those 3 seconds of screen time were the most painful moments of his entire 900 year old life. It was worse than appearing in the Sequels. Poor Grand Master...
One of the ways everything could be saved is that George buys the company back and then, does a singular (but pivotable) show like Rogue One. In it Master Yoda is in his quarters at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. He is startled awake from a bad dream and relays all the details to the Council. All the things would be from the time Disney owned the company. Then the continuity would be restored and it’ll segue into 20 years before the Phantom Menace.
Should flip to a youngling class and the instructor saying 'so you see from this instructional video why you are warned about emotional attachments and how they lead to corruption.'
It's not HER show. It's like renting a flat or house. Within reason you can paint the walls, put up painting or pictures, you furnish it how you wish up to a point, with permission. But you can't just knock a wall through or build a patio or balcony. Any writer and director basically rents a room in the house of star wars and are at liberty to do the former to a point, but my no means the latter! Lego Headlamp has basically knocked all the walls through and built a balcony on the flat because she wanted an open plan with an outside space.
Knowing the lore of a show and respecting the lore of the show is 2 very different things. Leslye Headland can claim to know Star Wars all she wants but in the end it's the fruits of her labor (the Acolyte show) that will speak for themselves in terms of her respecting Star Wars. As they say, actions speak louder than words.
Fanfictions are inherently "handicapped" in a way, George R Martin has a interesting take about it (even if the guy messed up with ASoIaF, I mostly agree with his opinion about fanfiction)
Don't worry, the same Hollywood types working on Star Wars are now sticking their fingers into Tolkien's work. Now that his family have cashed out, it will only be a matter of time before they ruin it all. We thought The Rings of Power was bad LOL.
After this series S1 Finale, I am already retconning it in my own head. This show never happened, none of it makes sense because it literally goes against everything known about Star Wars. Leslye wasn't trying to intro new material into the continuity, she was trying to make her own continuity. "And that, is why she failed!"
@sirfrancipal2187 it's my right to disregard this show as Canon to the rest of Star Wars if I want, even if it makes me arrogant and wrong. But you have no right to tell me my opinion doesn't matter. Be careful what you say, and who you say it to. Don't invalidate anyone just to prove a point, like Leslye Headland did with this show.
This show is a tell all for Harvey’s former assistant. It’s also like multiverse Star Wars it’s not part of the main timeline it’s part of an alternate universe.
Poor Yoda. Though he may be an enemy of the Empire, I feel bad for him having to be in this show. I wouldn’t wish such a fate upon even my worst enemy.
@FreshDougan I pray they cancel that shit how they can make a season 2 with the ratings is just absolutely crazy to me. And I mean the viewer ratings not the bullshit critics that have to say good things because if not they would be called homophoobic or racist whatever they wanna say that day for there excuse
I've realised that Leslye Headland isn't incompetent. None of these errors are mistakes. I think she's flamebaiting us. I genuinely think she wants the drama so she can start a fight with the community and try to hold some holier than thou highground over us by throwing political arguments at us. Ki-Adi Mundi is the most obvious example of this. His role was so minor, it could have been given to any nameless Jedi grunt. She chose to use a character who outright says that the Sith have been extinct for a millenia because she knew it would stir an argument. He was such an awful choice for his role in the show that I honestly can't believe it was simply sloppiness. This show has broken records for the amount of mistakes and lore-breaking plot points it has produced. I would understand the occasional slip up for a bit of creative freedom, but she's done something stupid in every episode I just honestly can't fathom the idea of that being a mistake. This whole show was just a massive display of ego, and I really hope that her bosses force her to rectify as much of it as possible for season 2.
If anything, episode 7 is flawed on so many levels I can't call her competent in her directing and writing. Yes she wants to stir the pot, out of spite, but don't mistake her narscissism for competence and cleverness.
Ki-Adi heard from Qui-Gon that he was attacked by someone using a red lightsaber and Qui-Gon directly claimed he was a Sith, yet Ki still didn't believe the Sith were back. He knew far less in Acolyte, only that Mae was supposedly killing Jedi and that she claimed to not know the identity of her master. No one said her master might be a Sith and no one had seen a red lightsaber yet in the show. The show was garbage, but Ki is technically consistent. What exactly about the info he had in the show would require him to think the Sith were back when he denies it even when Qui-Gon was attacked by Maul with a red saber? And since Sol was blamed for the killings, the Jedi who knew about Mae likely believe he was Mae's secret master. And if they do learn about Smilo Ren, he was a padawan, so they would believe he was just a fallen Jedi, not an actual Sith.
@@Fardawg You do make a valid point, Ki-Adi Mundi doesn't explicitly get told that Qimir is Sith. However, he is aware of a powerful and adept dark side user and while following the events of episode 8 it is reasonable to assume the wider Jedi order never learn about the Sith returning with Sol's death being the last Jedi who knows about it, it still feels incredibly clumsy to have Ki-Adi Mundi be one of the few aware of Qimir's existence, even if not explicitly stated to him, he does know she was trained by someone powerful. Despite my disliking for him as a person, I can't deny his intelligence so him denying the return of the Sith as an outrageous suggestion the way he does in the prequels is made to seem unreasonable when he himself is aware of adept dark side users in his own lifetime. His disbelief is unreasonable when it would give answers to the mystery Qimir's existence. I highly doubt he would just brush off this incredibly powerful dark enemy in the time between The Acolyte and The Phantom Menace as just a rogue force wielder, he would have questions and Qui-Gon's declaration would pique his interest when he has personal experience in that area. All in all, regardless of speculation, I can't see a reason for him being one of the few who is let in on this secret when he's the one who has the most disbelief in the existence of the Sith. I'll credit Leslye in this one respect in that there is a way in that Ki-Adi Mundi doesn't know about the Sith, but it still feels like a stretch to me. His involvement was unnecessary and to me, just seemed like she was trying to spark outrage in the fanbase with it. You're right that he still technically checks out, but the fact that his statement's validity relies on a technicality now is disappointing.
@@deadso Yeah that's fair, she's definitely not competent, but maybe less incompetent that she's credited for lmao. The show has done what she wants, that's the extent of her competence.
This is it... It's like the strategy Palpatine used to get rid of the Jedis and get the absolute power. Start a war... foster conflict... and from there it's where you win. Having heard only the criticism and the analysis of the Acolyte... The mere fact that they use the pronouns and the language. Then the absolute disrespect towards the lore. Charlie Barnett was right in his blunders: "there is no good or evil. It depends on which side are you standing on." It's said in the series itself: "It's not about good or evil, it's about power." If Barnett was persistently saying that (his terrible blunder about Anakin was him trying to justify that the Jedi were the bad ones under some point of view) was for a reason. Anakin said to Obi-Wan in their fight that the Jedis were the evil ones, after Obi-Wan told him that the Chancellor was evil. It's so obvious that many people pointed it out: when you say "there is no good or evil", that's what the Siths would tell you to manipulate you (and get rid of their responsibility). Headland is presenting here the Jedis as an hegemonic elite, powerful people, the key of a system which is ONLY a system. It's as if it was the fight for power of two families, two confronted families, like in Romeo and Juliet... The Jedis do questionable or bad things, like taking away kids from their families from an early age, and in this series they even keep a lie about this... As Theory says, they kill a group of witches, take away one child to raise it as a Jedi... they are the enemies, the oppressors, of those people (2:43). Those witches remind me of Scar's family in The Lion King 2, by the way. (Which is also like Romeo and Juliet). I think... Headland basically presents them as a group with power, rather than the defense of the GOOD (like the dynasties in the monarchies and their fight for power), and then the enemies, the emerging Siths, are enemies of the Jedis, not enemies of the society (in the paradigm that the Siths are EVIL, they are enemies of the society. But when you destroy the paradigm, and we have only elites, and there is no GOOD or EVIL, it's just the Jedis "dynasty" against the witches or whatever Prometheus-like Siths precursor (Alien), or the Siths themselves.) Thus she is actually destroying Lucas' Star Wars paradigm that the Jedis are the guardians of the GOOD (this is an absolute concept), and the Siths are EVIL (another absolute concept), and harmful to the society (by definition of evil). Everything is a relative concept. And then she is actually destroying Lucas' creation. Because he didn't make just a story of a man who fought a bad emperor and reconciled his father. He created a world with a philosophy, where the Jedis are the epicenter of the society and its spirituality. And that philosophy is not a school of thought, nor a paradigm, is that world's inherent nature.
There’s such a difference to how Leslye talks (‘it’s my show’) and how all the Mando directors talk in Gallery episodes talking about stewarding this precious universe and stories that belong to everyone
Star Wars Fans: “You are on this council but we do not grant you the rank of master.” Leslye Headland: “What how could you do this. This is outrageous. It’s unfair. How could I have my own show and not be a master?” Star Wars Fans: “You’re absolutely right. We do grant you the rank of master. Master of Gaslighting.”
Kathleen and Leslie really can’t take criticism and just pull the sexist Card on us and whatever. It’s absolutely ridiculous how much Disney has now taken action against fans just because this one show, like, are they expecting a masterpiece box office hit by silencing a majority of people? It’s just pathetic and embarrassing for Disney to go this far
To play Devil's advocate, As much as I hate the current state of Star Wars, Kathleen and Kennedy do have a right to pull the sexism card when all you have to do is look through these comments to see that they are justified. It's one thing to criticize someone's work, it's another to just spew anti lgbt crap
@@borkhthree-jackdaws5918 I’ve rarely or never seen anything sexist, racist or anything anti lgtp in people’s criticisms. There definitely are, but I made my effort to avoid them and actually look for actual, reasonable and legitimate criticism to the show.
@thelittleal1212 you missed what I said, this community is so toxic and bigoted as a whole that the legit criticism often gets buried by people just making awful comments. Most of the people offering legit criticism are not who I'm talking about
I figured it out guys: Leslie must have been heterosexual at one point- In a relationship with a man whos love for Star wars ruined their relationship- After a vicious breakup she became a lesbian and is now hellbent on destroying everything Star wars - The guy was probably someone Kathleen knew back in college and somehow they found it was the one and same guy... You might say thats absolutely crazy but now that I think about it. It makes way more sense than what Disney is doing atm
That probably makes the most absolute Sense on why Disney is allowing this. They would rather tell a story based off of feelings instead of actual content and continuity. This is an age of feelings instead of common Sense
The thing I feel with Star Wars in general is that you MUST BE almost a die hard fan to understand every piece of lore and create a narrative/story that will captivate the fanbase. Literally, besides the clone wars series and other cartoons and perhaps Rogue One, the shows/movies SCREAM that the people behind the production have no idea of what SW really is.

It's so sad we live in a world now where breaking "Canon" is the go to thing to do these days for writers to get there mark on the show. It's so egotistical and down right fudging narcissistic "This is my show." words we hear all the time these days, either being said, or refereed to. This baits the community into all out wars, this ideology that these characters we love are liars and never spoke about this is down right disrespectful. Doctor Who is another case where this is happening of it no longer having a "Canon" to speak of. Shows which people grow up with are taken by these people who wanna leave 'there' mark on it just because they can. Let's not go into the fact that it appears now that unfortunately a male character 'can't' be important or powerful on there own without an even more powerful woman coming in to take the limelight. They will just say "Oh they have the Mandalorian it's fine, they had Clone Wars Season 7, so we can have all this." (Not what was said I believe but still comes off that way.) And even Mando is now dropping off into being ended. I used to adore Star Wars, heck I tried to defend it, but I just cant anymore, I am deeply heartbroken that this once groundbreaking and inclusive show has become such a fest of sh*t that its no longer recognizable. If she would have written the Acolyte as an hommage to the movie "Natural born killers" it could have worked. Show the path of one sister delving deeper and deeper into the dark side with her Sith/cuddle-Knight-of-Ren/whatever on their killing spree, disguising the kills as accidents, while an investigator is on their tracks would have been infinitely more interesting.
News flash for Leslye Headland and the executives at Lucasfilm: this is “*our* franchise,” and we aren’t talking obligated to recognize your product as the Star Wars we acknowledge as faithful to the plot and history of the franchise :/

I am kind of amused how the situation of the story is similar to reality: Sol being the scape goat for failure (Fans being the scape goat for failure) Venestra spreading the above lie (Leslye spreading the above lie) Evil being the "good guys" (Leslye being the "good guy") Also "This is my show". Only a Sith deals in absolutes plus the quote of "Ascending to the darkside" when usually it is called in lore falling or succumbing to the darkside I have a strange theory that she wants the stranger to eventually become Palpatine and be tasked with ending Mae so he and his new master can run tests to try and create life and to just paint men as untrustworthy......but that is just a theory I thought of whilst writing this xD

I hear you. But also mundi isn't lying. He doesn't know. The only person who does confirmed know about the existence of a sith is vern. Presumably Yoda knows to some degree aswell but the only 100% guarantee is vern. I feel like alot of the push back is everyone being so focused on protecting star wars from whatever it is you see being bad for the IP, that you're misunderstanding what's actually happening in place of what you feel is happening to your beloved star wars. By no means am i saying it's the best show ever made. But it's a solid 6/10 when you're not nitpicking every little detail. Twitter is lighting up with misplaced hate for the show from people who haven't even watched all of it. Not everything starts off great. If the show gets a second season just give the woman a chance. There will always be malcontent when you're adding new stories to an IP. You're going into semantics with things like "my show" yeah it's a bad thing to say but I feel like you're definitely playing up the intentions behind the words she said in the moment. The show isn't a flaming pile of shit. Could it have been better? Absolutely. Could it have been so much worse. YES!! Palpatine didn't invent the jedis arrogance. And the notion that the jedi wouldn't have faults even during the high republic era is just wishful thinking. Plagueis "the wise" failed to create life like he intended so why now is he no longer wise now that we learn that a vergance and some ritual(possibly learned by the witches FROM plagueis himself) is what created osha and Mae. It doesn't change anakin being the chosen one. It make him any less special. It doesn't make plagueis no longer "the wise"
TLDR: give the show some time and let it flesh out this story and answer some of the questions you have before you hate it for NOT answering these questions
As Theory rightfully said. Of course this is "your show" Leslye, which also means when the story is trite, characters inconsistent and/or boring and contrived, its entirely YOUR fault it ended up that way. This is effectively an embedded confession that Leslye wants ALL the creative freedom to do whatever she wants, regardless of its respect to Star Wars or storytelling, but doesn't want the responsibility. This show can not be "for everyone" but also be "your show", it is either one or the other. They are mutually exclusive, which is exactly what the ever-changing character traits, personalities and motivations are. Leslye can't be trusted with any form of storytelling, because being a showrunner, requires BOTH a creative vision AND the responsibility to take the fall if it doesn't work. Leslye barely has the former, if at all

After this series S1 Finale, I am already retconning it in my own head. This show never happened, none of it makes sense because it literally goes against everything known about Star Wars.
It depends on which side are you standing on." It's said in the series itself: "It's not about good or evil, it's about power."
If Barnett was persistently saying that (his terrible blunder about Anakin was him trying to justify that the Jedi were the bad ones under some point of view) was for a reason.
But when you destroy the paradigm, and we have only elites, and there is no GOOD or EVIL, it's just the Jedis "dynasty" against the witches or whatever Prometheus-like Siths precursor (Alien), or the Siths themselves.)
Thus she is actually destroying Lucas' Star Wars paradigm that the Jedis are the guardians of the GOOD (this is an absolute concept), and the Siths are EVIL (another absolute concept), and harmful to the society (by definition of evil).

I'm worried about Plagueis's face. I feel so bad for all the legends who are no longer with us that this is the legacy they are now left with. I really wanted to stick this franchise out and really take it in but I cant walk with it anymore, I need to walk away before my heart is broken even more. Call me Sexist, call me what you will, but This is not my Star Wars.
I thought they only included Ki-Adi-Mundi because Yoda was "unavailable." Not that that exempts the fact that they broke lore by including Ki-Adi-Mundi.

9:15 So Lesley's "dream" was "always" to give a giant middle finger to Star Wars fans? Makes sense.
"Master Yoda, I tried to placate the committee by framing Sol, but hearing that veteran Jedi Master went murderously insane out of the blue didn't work. I even wore my ceremonial 'lying to a senate committee' robes, but those didn't help either. But on the plus side, at least I didn't have to tell them that basically everything after Brendock was my fault for having hidden that I oopsie'd my padawan into a Sith who trained the real assassin and corrupted Sol's padawan after she had quietly and peacefully left the Order.
Now, if we want this story to hold up, we've got dozens of witnesses spread across the galaxy that need to be silenced, including a bunch of Jedi. I think that little badger guy we have sniff everyone's laundry knows basically everything, too.

If she would have written the Acolyte as an hommage to the movie "Natural born killers" it could have worked. I am kind of amused how the situation of the story is similar to reality:
Sol being the scape goat for failure (Fans being the scape goat for failure)
Venestra spreading the above lie (Leslye spreading the above lie)
Evil being the "good guys" (Leslye being the "good guy")
Also "This is my show". Only a Sith deals in absolutes plus the quote of "Ascending to the darkside" when usually it is called in lore falling or succumbing to the darkside
I have a strange theory that she wants the stranger to eventually become Palpatine and be tasked with ending Mae so he and his new master can run tests to try and create life and to just paint men as untrustworthy......but that is just a theory I thought of whilst writing this xD

-the council says its an accident
-Former padawan Sol investigates the death and finds a knife with a symbol he has Seen before
-Sol wants to go on a solo mission to Figuren everything out but is joined by his Close friend yord and his padawan jackie
-the go to another Jedi Temple to find sols Former Master to ask him about this symbol
-he says they have to find kelnaka beschaust he was studying this
-Master Torbin gets killed by mae
-sol sees mae and thinks his Former Student osha gone rouge
-they then find osha and Arrest her
-meanwhile venestra keeps an eye on sol
- sol thinks osha is innocent
- the go to kelnaka but find him dead
-Episode 5 but with just yord sol and Jackie
-we then learn what Happens in the past
- sol, andarra, Master torbin and Master kelnaka are on brendok
-they find this cult of Former Jedi aniseya and two Kids
-anisaya is a Former Jedi and love intrest of sol
-she left because she got Pergament by sol but he Never know
- anisaya wants to bring Balance to the force through her twins
-Training one in the dark side and one in the light
-osha wants to join the Jedi and
-osha gifts her unique neclace to her sister mae
-they Right and by accident start a Fire
-mae bumps her Head an gets concussed
-osha sees her mother being killed by sol
-we know aniseya was Betrages by the other cultists and sol accidentaly kills aniseya
-she wants sol to protect their children
-mae wakes up and doesnt know where she is
-sol finds her and thinks its osha because of the neclace
-he wants to look for his other daughter but everything ist burning and the other Jedi say she ist probably dead
-Sol trains osha (mae)
-the real osha survives and seeks revenge
-the stranger ist someone who was a padawan to venestra but was fascinated by the Sith
-he was betrayed by venestra and wants to rebuild the Sith
-he thinks he is the First Sith in 1000years and wants an apprentice
-plagueis is hunting him in secret because the stranger could destroy the Plans of the real Sith
-venestra finds out about sols past
-last Episode basically like the Show, but venestra realy believes sol did all this

I love how subtle yet savage theory is with the whole... *MY SHOW*
So funny, but also sad. Doesn't seem like it should be Canon at all which is hard when she introduces all these well known characters...
Leslye barely has the former, if at all
Ummm she tried to contact Yada well before she did her cover-up. Yada did not make himself available to just anyone to speak to him. Not sure which episode but she did set up the meeting prior. 5:20 shows the real issue...You can't handle seeing some characters beyond your first impression....YOUR first impression/point of view. If u are truly a fan of Yoda...not just a fan of Yoda in "moments" you seen, then u should accept Yada is not perfect...Yoda made mistakes and there is more to Yoda than just those moments you seen him. The problem is you thinking you know everything about everything based on a few moments of insight.
The sad part is we know how passionate SWT is about star wars and as he continues to cover this shite he keeps calm. Usually censors himself and remains professional. Its GOT to be incredibly painful for him.
