Sydney made a 33 minute video stating that women can’t write good Star Wars stories because according to her women can only write stories because they are low key feminists and that means they really don’t like Star Wars ….
      OK…
And George Lucas sold this intellectual property YEARS ago and yet Disney STILL is bringing lore and expanded content into the stories and most of if not ALL of the male characters are Jedi and/or main characters alongside the ONE central female character.
      Yeah… ok.
Thank you Sydney for telling us all what we’re supposed to watch because YOU said so.

The new owner of the store put only meat on the shelfes, but dosnt change the "baker" shop sign & even puts out news adverts with "bread for sale". Old customers keep entering the store asking for bread but is told that "bread has too many carbs in them & is unhealty, you should buy meat instead". And the boy, excitedly responds, "you want to play in the sandbox with me? Sure!" So the girl gets in the sandbox and immediately starts jumping rope. The rope destroys the castle the boy was working on, flings sand and cat turds everywhere and prevents the boy from trying to make anything new. The boy, with tears in his eyes, asks, "why are you jumping rope in the sandbox?" And the girl responds, "WHY DO YOU HATE WOMEN?"

The Disney feminists are so damn clueless. Princess Leia was the real hero of the original trilogy. From George Lucas himself, "She is a senator. She graduated from college. She's a very smart person, very much in control. And she's a good shot. And the two guys were - one was naive and didn't know anything, had no knowledge. The other one thought he knew everything, but he didn't know anything, either. She is the one that knew everything. She was the one that was driving the whole story... When you've lined them up, she's the main character, for God's sake.”

Though most of them were background characters the rebels were the backbone of the whole series and Leai was the one who was the key to getting them moving. I think it's fascinating how this trend was able to stay relevant for so long, considering the fanaticism involved, I understand social media is sadly here to stay, so you take advantage of it, milk it for money... but the results are just so ugly, people who never read a social study in their lives, discussing "politics" on Twitter, lol it's ridiculous. The whole context was missed on most sw fans because Disney went on a different direction than what was built by lucas. Even the actor said in interviews that he was promised a bigger and more impactful role than he got. Sure there are some racist ppl liking sw, but they are just a small fraction of the audience.

Lucas was a masterful storyteller. He didn’t tell you anything about Princess Leia. He told you she was a princess and that was it. You let that blind you to the character if you can’t see that she was the most competent hero in Star Wars.
Take her “walking carpet” remark about Chewbacca. Most people would take that as being dismissive and belittling, but I was military and got called far worse by chiefs and sergeants. What most people didn’t see was that she was taking point and putting the squad support weapon behind her. Unless you know what you just saw, you missed the impact of that scene.
Leslie Hedlund (?) is wrong. R2D2 isn’t a lesbian. It’s a droid. It is a he to a male viewer or a she to a female viewer, but that doesn’t change what it is. But what R2D2 is though, is the capable warrior that taught Leia how to fight. Pay attention to it during the films. R2D2 is always using misdirection and deception when it fights, just like Leia. It makes you dismiss it as helpless and harmless. R2D2 is the Obi-wan to Leia.
C-3PO is the helpless princess that the feminists today think Leia is. They missed all of the hidden details that tell you Leia is far from helpless. Leia is the combat monster of the film, the battle-hardened sergeant that keeps Han & Luke alive.
There is a bonus point if you caught the interview with Carrie Fisher talking about the lack of a bra to Princess Leia’s costume in Star Wars in ‘77. George made up some bullshit about gravity in space, but bra-burning was a feminist statement only a few years earlier. He included that as part of the character’s identity by having Carrie not wear a bra. That was a context clue that pretty much no one catches that tells you there was feminism woven into the story.
The reason the current Star Wars writers fail is because they don’t know the material they are building on. I could rewrite the sequel trilogy and turn it into a blockbuster that would break records, but that’s because I am a fan, not because I am a wonderful writer. They missed the opportunity to hang a lightsaber on Leia & Han’s belts too. The missed the opportunity to let Han tell Finn and Rey about the force, like Obi-wan did for Luke. They missed the opportunity to have the “Mary Poppins” scene be the point where Leia passes her lightsaber to Finn before dying. They missed the chance to have Finn, Po and Rey learn from the soldier, pilot and sorcerer of the original trilogy as a passing of the torch. They lost the opportunity to make sequels that follow the students of the three main characters. They let their reputation as the hot new writers and directors destroy a beloved franchise instead of building on it.
Yoda delivers two lines of note in the original trilogy. You can spot them because they aren’t in his usual pattern of speech. When speaking to Obi-wan as Luke leaves for Bespin, he says “no, there is another” instead of “no, another there is.” And the other line is “teach what you have learned” instead of “what you have learned, teach.” Only a fan would even notice that. It was the directions for crafting new stories as well as simple dialogue between characters.
That’s just my two cent’s worth. I have been wrong before, so I can’t discount that possibility now.
If the Acolyte would have been written well, they would be crying about the racism that all of those diverse characters were the bad guys. That’s the only way it could have fit into Star Wars. Disney was right to abandon it. It was poor writing executed badly.

You can watch anything before the sale. The animated series are really good, the video games can be hit or Miss but a lot of excellent, EXCELLENT games like KOTOR, Battlefield, rogue squadron, Pod-Racer, even the Force Unleashed is fun if a bit messy for the cannon. There truly was an expansive extended universe to lose yourself in. It was great growing up in the 90’s-2000’s as a Star Wars fan.
I’ve been a staunch prequel defender since well before the Disney movies started coming out. Yeah, the dialogue is clunky. Metacloriens are weird.
But it’s nothing that egregious, truly, and they’re beautiful films visually with a lot of heart and the same magic that made the original trilogy so special. The Star Wars FEELING is totally missing from the Disney output, with Rogue One being one of the very few bright spots, season one of Mando was pretty good, and I even thought Solo was fun. They go anywhere near Jedi and they fuck it all up. Why? Because the only thing they see in the Jedi is their power, and since they’re the centerpiece of the original story of Anakin and Luke they’re the way fans get to learn about the universe. So the Jedi therefor get the most butchered by the writers’ intentional, explicit, braindead and hamfisted political messaging. Some nobody rebellion team without any special powers who all die at the end?
“Well if they all die I guess we can have a strong man… he’ll definitely die though, right?!”

The worst thing that Disney did to Star Wars was canceling the whole Expanded Universe storyline. For decades, books, comics, and video games created so many new characters, extended and developed existing ones, and added so many stories that were waiting to be brought to the silver screen or made into TV series. There were also strong female characters! For example:
    1. Mara Jade - the Emperor's Hand and future wife of Luke Skywalker. She is the only character in Star Wars who called Luke a "farmboy" even when he was a Grand Jedi Master :) She is a very well-written and strong character.
    2. Admiral Daala - the head of the secret Maw Installation, which played a major role in the later stories of the galaxy.
    3. Jaina Solo - the daughter of Leia and Han. Another very strong and complex character who actually defeated her brother Jacen when he became a Sith Lord ruling the galaxy.
    4. Abeloth - a super evil and powerful character that was feared even by the Sith Lords.
    5. The Witches of Dathomir.
    6. The Hapan Empire, ruled by women, led by the strong Tenel Ka.
    And many, many others.
Disney had all of this on the plate and didn't use it. Okay, none of them were LGBT characters. But, for example, making Admiral Daala a lesbian would have been quite easy in storytelling if needed in the new corporate order.

    • @Verebazs
      @Verebazs 5 дней назад

The EU was trash, equally awful to Disney Wars, in fact most of the worst stuff in Disney Wars was lifted straight from the EU. As for it's women:
1: Mara Jade was the OG Mary Sue of Star Wars. She was introduced as holding the semi-official title of Palpatine's Hand...eventhough that was Darth Vader's role in the movies. She worked as an assasin for years, commiting horrible crimes, not unlike Darth Vader, but unlike Darth Vader she was allowed to redeem herself without making any self-sacrifise on her part, and in fact Zahn even tried to argue that she was never really on the Dark side, because she was serving someone else. Everybody from Luke, to Lando to Wedge fell in love with her, even in her 40ies she was so hot, her teenage nephew had a crush on her, whom she constantly flirted with, despite being married to his uncle. She was a garbage character.
2: Admiral Daala?! Seriously? This is where we've gotten? People are nostalgic for freaking Daala? Daala used to be the butt of every joke, even within the same EU fandom, that loved Mara Sue. People used to say she had either slept her way to the top (she was Tarkin's lover, so yeah, turning her into a lesbian would've been yet another moment of diversity over storytelling and faithfully adapting the source) or she had suffered brain damage, in the accident that saw her reassigned to the Maw Installation, because she was that laughably incompetent. Her becoming the leader of the Galactic Alliance in Invincible was widely reviled and mocked, and for good reason, because she had commited horrific crimes, and she hasn't been used in any EU project for years by that point, so it came from literally nowhere.
3: Jaina: Oh boy. She is the main reason Mara Jade is not seen as the Mary Sue she is, because Jaina was even worse. She was arguably the blueprint for Rey. Add in the fact, that she jerked around two guys for over a decade, refusing to choose between them even in her late-20ies, just like she did, when she was a teenager, and they just kept simping for her the entire time.
4: Abeloth: Her backstory is not only a direct contradiction of both the Mortis-arc of TCW and how the Force works accoring to Lucas, it doesn't make sense even with itself, and her novel series was the absolute bottom of the barrel even by EU standards, and the way she's ultimately defeated is utter nonsense. 16:14 Dave Filoni made Ashoka a cocky and unlikable character on purpose. Because of her brashness, she makes some bad decisions that cost many lives. As a result she was able to self-reflect, humble herself, and truly grow as a character. That is why she is very much beloved amongst the Star Wars fandom, and IMO is a female character done correctly.

As a woman and a Star Wars fan, I am disgusted by the agenda pushing everywhere I look. When the only thing a woman can say about her character is, "She's a powerful leader... she's a powerful leader!" That tells you how shallow it all really is. I watched one episode of the Acolyte and stopped halfway through episode two because of the awful writing, the boring story line, and the overall cringe at the agendas on display. I am all for having great female characters and leads, but they have to have substance. "Powerful leader!" is not substance. Don't even get me started on the blatant racism and sexism happening in Hollywood. I'm so sick of virtue signaling in my media. One person's virtue is not everyone's, so stop forcing it down my throat, please. I will be sticking to my old films and shows, where entertainment was the goal, and good stories were king.

    • @2nd_Directorate

What annoys me the most is that traits are handled as personality. The "powerful leader" you refer to or the "independant strong woman" are these. They are represented and played out as a whole personality for a character. Completly ignoring that these are traits which are the result of several different aspects of a character but are neither shown nor explained.
A "powerful leader" is not a trait you just have, it is the result of many factors that need to be shown. Hence the lack of substance you talked about.
Ellen Ripley from (especially) Aliens is a great example for this. Competence, perseverance, confidence. Motherly instinct and the drive to protect and overcome fear to do so. All that is shown, all that makes her a leader in that situation. Not once she had to call herself that....

My creative writing teacher once told me the secret to writing characters well is simple: 1-Define their personality and psychology. 2-Define their role in the narrative. 3-Based on their role and personality, define their character arc and how it relates to the work's overall theme. 4-Once all the above is done, you can decide their gender and preferences. This is the best way to write good, well-rounded characters regardless of their gender, skin color, sexual orientation, etc. Modern writers in Hollywood have forgotten the basics of good storytelling and character writing in general. Wouldn't have a problem with them making female-centric stories and inserting diversity into this franchise, if they had the basics of good narrative and character writing down. However since they clearly don't know what they're doing, I've pretty much washed my hands of Star Wars and Disney at this point.

As a female fan since the 80s, I do NOT like what they have done to Star Wars. A space adventure film for all ages has become a bunch of bland stories that exist solely to "showcase diversity" or engage in what should have been a long abandoned advertising tactic of "fanbaiting". Disney owns Lucasfilm and they can do what they want. Changing brand focus is fine, but expecting to retain customers that way is dicey. Had Disney been smart and made classic stories with some side stories that were girl focused romance an occasional show focusing on diversity and a nod to the alphabet community, they would have been fine. But, they declared that EVERY show had to be diverse, female, and gay. Ironically, in attempting to grab EVERY identity group they could think of, they alienated them all. Generally, I hate corporate feminism. Since it's full scale implementation into media I have decided that I'm no longer a feminist.

Victimhood as a pathway to privilege and entitlement, masked as virtue.

Otherwise the roving hordes of moral cannibals will descend on them and they will be eaten next.

She did NOT like the sequels, it's just not the Star Wars she fell in love with anymore. By making it more "female-centric" in their own way, they're turning the franchise into something that feels completely different and alienates even female fans.

Though I agree it’s a male dominated fanbase (not even sure if this is true given how large the fanbase was at its peak), star wars has always had a global appeal because the story and characters were primary, not a blatant agenda. It’s not inherently bad to have an agenda in a piece of art (cringing to associate the current drivel with art) but people (especially Star Wars fans who came for Star Wars) aren’t gonna care about any agenda you insert if the body of work around it SUCKS. In fact, as we’re seeing, it actively hurts said agenda

That is the most confusing part for me about their whole patriarchy argument as well, SW always had strong female characters holding lots of power. Leia, Amidala, Ashoka, Ventress, the list literally goes on and on.
It just shows that they are either wilfully destroying SW because they cannot see through their blind hatred for people not like them, or have not underdtood a single iota of SW in general and have probably not observed a single minute of SW properly or at all...

Agreed. I've always loved sci-fi and fantasy, and I didn't care that most of my female friends did not, when I was young. They were raised to be influenced to prefer other genres, but in recent years that was already changing, and more girls were getting into sci-fi, fantasy and horror. There was no need to start snatch up the Star Wars franchise, bash men, castrate male heroes, and create female heroes who never have any flaws, never have to work their way up. This is just a small group of women abusing power, and creating jobs for their friends, while they sponge off the creative work done by others in the past.

This is what gets lost in all of the noise. So much of their justification hinges on them proclaiming what Is and is not 'for women'. These dichotomies _must_ exist to support their current rationale around their decisions. Yet, to me, it just smells of doing the very thing they complain about the patriarchy doing - removing women's agency. They get to decide what women do and don't like, not the women themselves. Star Wars is a 'boys thing', regardless of and blatantly ignoring all the women who liked it just fine. Women can't relate to men, people of color can't relate to non-people of color, we are all of us helpless and require catering to because we lack agency.

Something you'll notice with things made by a predominantly male group is that those men won't mention "men" in the course of the creation process. They won't even say it's "for men", or "by men" or that they are happy that their team comprises mostly men.
I see a stark contrast with what Disney is doing though. We're forever being told this is made by women, written by women, there's more women behind and in front of the camera, and that this is for a more female audience.
