But given the cited budget, it needs to be a pitch SOOOOO good that you can hand the reins of a multi billion dollar franchise over to someone who is - in genre terms - an absolute newbie, and then not add oversight. For instance, telling them, we'll give you X million for a writing process and you see the rest when we see a finished script. Unless Headland was able to hire people who were super green (or who were her friends), it seems weird that there was no grizzled veteran on hand looking around, frowning, thinking "This seems.... messy." Maybe the accountant is standing in the corner looking confused and thinking "Why is the acting so bad? Why would you hire Carrie Anne Moss and barely use her? If I speak up I'll probably get fired." If the budget is remotely accurate, then 180 million dollars isn't something where you can say "I guess that kind of got away from us". THe pitch is the initial filtering process. But you have dozens of additionally checks and points at which you can add quality controls.

So I'll explain the "Kill a Jedi without a weapon" thing because there's an established lore reason for this that spans pretty far back, but isn't really talked about in the overarching lore. So this show makes it seem like "Killing a Jedi without a weapon" is some kind of limitation when in reality it is simply an old Sith right of passage. You are tasked to kill a jedi without a weapon to show you are strong enough to do so then you take their kyber and make it into your saber. Where the show messes this up is that this right of passage is applied inconsistently all throughout lore, and is rarely talked about much like Gimpy Mcheadbutts Cortosis helmet. This show like to introduce obscure Sith and anti Jedi lore pieces that they fail to set up properly to the audience because they are obscure. Hell Cortosis is mentioned like twice in all of KOTOR and like a handful of times in the comics which the average audience member is not going to have read so to establish it as a main plot point and do ZERO pre set up for what it is is simply bad writing.
Amandla’s constant blank stare leads me to believe she is literally just acting in her head in every scene, and the directors couldn’t even bring her to emote any more than she is capable of.
The 4.8 million views number is incredibly deceptive too. They released the first TWO episodes at the same time. Meaning those "premiere episode" numbers actually need to be divided in half to get the real viewing figure for each episode.

Being fair to Leslye, what is her previous experience? Why is anybody giving inexperienced people the power of a show runner? It is basically setting them up for failure. This also applies to She hulk, Rings of power, Velma, and IIRC the Witcher and Ms. Marvel.
It’s very difficult to try to understand what Hollywood executives are thinking. Part of it might be obsession with their legacy. There is a former network executive who just made a video about Hollywood egos and legacies. The channel name is “call me Chato.” Iirc it’s less than 10 minutes long. What happened to the lightsaber is a new thing called "bleeding" which is an attempt to explain why Sith sabers are red and not because the crystals are synthetic.
Basically the sith forces dark side energy into the crystal to change it's composition from whatever color it was ro red. But it's such a taxing ordeal, that it nearly killed Darth fucking Vader. And Osha was able to do it effortlessly.
Meh the concept was stupid and it deserves no respect either way.

So I'll explain the "Kill a Jedi without a weapon" thing because there's an established lore reason for this that spans pretty far back, but isn't really talked about in the overarching lore. So this show makes it seem like "Killing a Jedi without a weapon" is some kind of limitation when in reality it is simply an old Sith right of passage. You are tasked to kill a jedi without a weapon to show you are strong enough to do so then you take their kyber and make it into your saber. Where the show messes this up is that this right of passage is applied inconsistently all throughout lore, and is rarely talked about much like Gimpy Mcheadbutts Cortosis helmet. This show like to introduce obscure Sith and anti Jedi lore pieces that they fail to set up properly to the audience because they are obscure. Hell Cortosis is mentioned like twice in all of KOTOR and like a handful of times in the comics which the average audience member is not going to have read so to establish it as a main plot point and do ZERO pre set up for what it is is simply bad writing.
Even after everything Disney has done, Star Wars prequel slander won’t be tolerated in this day and age

Amandla’s constant blank stare leads me to believe she is literally just acting in her head in every scene, and the directors couldn’t even bring her to emote any more than she is capable of.
The 4.8 million views number is incredibly deceptive too. They released the first TWO episodes at the same time. Meaning those "premiere episode" numbers actually need to be divided in half to get the real viewing figure for each episode.

A budget comparison; Dune 2= 190 million. Acolyte=180 million. Considering the average episode length of this "series", there is not a substantial difference in the run time between the 2 properties. Look at the difference between them. How is this possible? DSW really shit the bed on this show. And it has nothing to do with social agendas, etc. It simply a poorly written, acted, directed series.

After the Acolyte, somehow, the Star Wars opening crawl with the words "The taxation of trade routes to outlying star systems is in dispute" which fans hated is looking pretty good right now. Sure, it sounds complicated but at least it sounds cooler than anything else the Acolyte had written.
After the whole of season one, I think "killing Jedi without weapon" is referring to the Jedi ideology as a whole, and not individual Jedi. As you have pointed out, Mae was able to kill a Jedi with a bladed weapon.
