- With the Mandalorian sputtering and the recent announcement of a Rey Skywalker film, it looks like Disney is doubling down on what led Star Wars astray. Join me for a brief retrospective on the TV show that I feel did the most damage to the IP: The Obi-Wan Kenobi show on Disney+. This video includes all four original review videos I made as the show was coming out, collected here in chronological order.

I've seen countless reviews of this show in the past year or so and I still can't understand why Reva wanted to kill Luke other than the writers coming up with a contrived "redemption" story at the expense of in-universe continuity in order to make their new character look good despite her literally being made for the audience to hate her up until that point. The huntsman in Snow White had a better redemption story than she did despite only having one minute of screen time.
It's all kenobis fault even though it was anakin and his troops that stormed the temple.
Ewan McGregor admitted that it was supposed to be a show about Obi-Wan and Luke. Then Kathleen Kennedy did what she always does and insisted it be about Leia and "Reva."
This idiot better hold on to her job as best she can, cuz she's gonna be working ice cream stalls after this. She is single-handedly and intentionally disassembling the Star Wars franchise until we won't have a single piece of quality content, watching us fans eat each other up so it can finally die.
We demand *art*, not this stupid political and feminist agenda crap. It does not work anymore. I like keeping up with the goings of the world via afternoon news, I don't need that crap *everywhere*.

A lot of recent Star Wars material just seems to not have a direction, there is no foresight with the stories being created the “and then X happens” really does show.
The girl power theme is beyond played out. KK at least make it good and entertaining like Kill Bill!
People saying Vader "loves the chase" can't be familiar with the character. There was an entire f-ing trilogy that was basically about Anakin being told he was too inpatient. The guy spent three movies getting into trouble by being impulsive.😁
Mentioned that yesterday. Vader barely shows any emotion other than hate or anger. The closest I have ever seen him mess around with an enemy was his duel with his son Luke when he threatened to turn Leia if Luke wouldn’t which backfired on him quite a lot. Other than that I haven’t seen Vader do much manipulation or toying around with lives like his master. He was usually dead serious and didn’t have much patience after losing nearly everything that he once cared about.
That Leia chase scene? That was legit one of the most embarrasing things I've seen on TV. Nickelodeon had better action than that.

Obi-Wan and Vader are legacy characters (also white, straight and male), which Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm especially hate. There was never any doubt they'd become side characters to women and POC'S.

From what I've heard from the writers of the show, the last scene between Vader and Obi-wan was written the way it was because the writers thought it would be clever if Obi-wan didn't know Vader's true identity until the face reveal. Despite the fact that in Revenge of the Sith, Obi-wan saw a holo-recording of the emperor referring to Anakin as Vader almost immediately after slaughtering the younglings.

It also makes the whole “When we last fought I was mere but a student, now I’m the master” line from Star Wars 1977 even more dumber now because the added battle was so unnecessary. It worked great with the prequels because Anakin was still the student to his Master Obi Wan, and now as a new creation… Vader is “a master of evil”
If you’ve played “Jedi: Fallen Order” you’ll realize that whoever wrote this show plagiarized that games major plot pieces and used them here. A lot of the same comparisons being: a jedi character regretting/suffering failures of their past, bringing in a knight sister with an underlying personal vendetta against the character, using the underwater imperial base and recycling the SAME EXACT tactic of using the force to break the glass to flood the base to escape, etc…. There’s so much plagiarism that it’s pathetic. They couldn’t even do it properly.🤣

Reva’s hatred’s towards Obi-Wan makes no sense because it’s not his fault Anakin murdered her Jedi peers. Trilla’s motivation makes sense where she’s not just operating as a mindless sith inquisitor to complete her objective and retrieve the holocron, but her vendetta against Cere made more sense because Cere was actually her master and felt she was to blame for her suffering.
What's worse is that this show takes place after that game, and yet the security on the base is probably even worse than it is in the fucking game. Let's ignore whatever fuck happened inside the building and remember that the planet was blockaded by a fleet of Star Destroyers and the snow speeders still somehow managed to slip through. Oh yeah, where are Tie Fighters and reinforcements at the end?
They tried so hard baiting with the fan service and this time it wasn't just bringing back Mando or Ahsoka. It's poorly attempting to recreate the plot of the game.

It’s unfortunate how Disney has truly ruined Star Wars. You know it’s bad when the story for Fallen Order/Survivor is better than majority if not all of the stories Disney has put out for the franchise.

That’s because it told it’s own story without creating plot holes in the canon. They either should have continued the story without contradicting anything that’s happened in the previous films or told a completely new one that isn’t completely connected with the Clone Wars or the Rebellion against the Empire. Sure both are mentioned in Fallen Order but they aren’t the main conflict whatsoever.
Obiwan Never Met Leia. After that, there is no point to the Kenobi show. I cannot understand why more people don’t talk about this!

Reva should not have had such a major role in the show. The whole reason people wanted to watch this show for Ewan and Hayden.
Well nowadays, these studios think they need a black character in order to be successful. Honestly they only added her for diversity, the story wouldve worked without Riva. And i think thats more insulting to the actress and black audiences than not including such a character at all. Almost like an afterthougt "better add someone black or we are racist"

It was incredibly stupid for Vader and obi wan to fight, it never should’ve happened. It ruins the fight in episode 4, and even so, Vader should’ve easily won. And he did, but obi wan couldn’t die because of plot.

Like the one where obi wans says that he is more machine than man, and if you remember, as far as obi wan knew, he just let anakin die in mustafar. The other one is when Vader says to Luke “obi wan once thought as you” about having the “good” in him, and that’s something that never happens in episode 3. I mean, that’s why I can see it happening but I would have preferred not

The (dumb) explanation the show gives is that in “the archives” (whatever the fuck that is), Reva found evidence of the relationship senator Bail Organa and Obi Wan had. She assumed kidnapping Leia would make the senator ask for Obi Wan’s help.

I have nothing against women being the protagonists but it has to be done right and you can NOT disrespect the old characters and lore. Mainly the main character of the original Star Wars, that being Luke Skywalker, in order to make your new female characters better in comparison. THIS DIRECTION IS TRASH!

Between 10 year old Leia outsmarting a fucking JEDI MASTER at every turn, Reva screaming at everything and everyone within a 30ft radius of her at any given moment, and the fact that lightsaber wounds are now the equivalent of a papercut... it's safe to say that this was some of the most embarrassing, contrived, idiotic bullshit I've ever seen from a big budget TV series. Only Disney could manage to completely fuck up a series about Obi-Wan, Darth Vader and the Inquisitors

@@PsychoRavager Eh I doubt it. First of all the game is going to be 70 dollars which is absurd and even Fallen Order was decent but suffered from so many bugs and glitches that made the game almost unplayable and inexcusable. (PS4 Version Especially)

My husband said something a few months ago that made me laugh when we were watching Kenobi having to turn the volume down while Turd Sista was screaming.
He said he doesn’t mind that they have certain criteria for roles, but why do they have to cast such awful looking terrible actors. Do we get Beyoncé or Halle Berry or Vanessa Williams or Pam Grier? No. We get Leslie Jones and Lizzo.
6 months later, what do we see? I couldn’t stop laughing. I didn’t even know who Lizzo was when he first mentioned her.
It’s as if once they decide the type of actor they want, they no longer care about ability or talent. That is how we’ve arrived at such a sad state of affairs.
Tragic part is how we live in a time when we'd get called out for stating facts. We'd be told to shut the heck up and that we're being fatphobic. Heck, I'm fat, but I'm doing what I can to stay healthy and eventually lose weight properly. Everything is so sensitive these days. The thought police has gotten into everyone. And, yes, I do not find Lizzo attractive whatsoever, and it should be normal to be able to state that.
I consider this to be the same as the whole emasculation of men. An entire generation of women are teaching men to be betas but they’re not actually attracted to them. Look at the men that we actually hook up with. We are still attracted to strong confident men. We are creating a society of ineligible partners. I don’t know why we would do that but that’s what women are doing now.
All of these stans and beta orbiters and suck-ups that defend their favorite girly RUclipsr, none of us would ever date one of them. It’d not an attractive quality. Just look at who Amouranth is actually sleeping with. He may be a bad example but because he is a piece of s…..T. My point is that no matter social engineering is going to make an unattractive person or unattractive qualities attractive.
So you can have all the campaigns you want about being attractive at any size but, that’s not going to get you any more dates. It doesn’t make ugly people less ugly to put them up on a poster.
Pretty soon we will be canceling people because they are not attracted to uglies. This is already happened in the xrans community where certain activists already want to have the right to bullying you to partnering with them. It’s sheer insanity.
The bottom line is if I want to see a bunch of ugly people I can just go outside. That’s not what I watch movies and television for.
Leslie Jones at least is a comedian. Whether you think she's funny or not is a different conversation, because there are those who don't think Bill Burr is funny, but he's a comedian and he was in the Mandalorian.
Jack Black is a comedian, Christopher Lloyd is a comedian. Lizzo is just... a singer, and not even one that is trying out to be an actor like Harry Styles. Very strange casting choice

Ewan McGregor came back as Obi-Wan, Hayden came back as Anakin, and Liam Nesson as Qui-Gon.
That's it.
The reason for Reva is appease the crowd of people who only engaged with the Star Wars franchise to complain about the “lack of diversity” and “lack of strong female characters.” Disney is only adding characters like Reva for those reasons alone and the painfully awful execution and fucking with the timeline makes it obvious

I loved how the hyped up Obi Wan v Vader fight that literally breaks canon but whatever, is just Vader shitting on Obi wan till he gets an anime powerup, where Obi wan then beats the shit out of Vader with no resistance, to act like Vader couldn't stop any of those rocks while having just shown him stopping an entire ship is crazy.
A plot hole that jumped to my eyes with the last episode : How the fuck did Reva get to Tatooine? Every ship was destroyed, the empire left her stranded...
And still, she managed not only to heal herself, find a ship, but arrive there much faster than Obi-Wan who basically made a straight line to Tatooine, with only a pit stop to humiliate Vader on the road...

The "female antagonist" Ravanna, or whatever the hell her name is, was the worst part about the show. The character doesn't fit at all into Star Wars. It felt like an underqualified diversity hire given an opportunity they didn't deserve, metaphorically of course. Nothing about her made sense. At first she was the scorned woman consumed with anger and hatred for Obi Wan. Then it turns out she is wanting revenge on Vader who she has been trying to please through exacting mayhem and carnage on any jedi she can hunt down. It made no sense. Unless of course Disney is injecting more feminism into Star Wars by creating a jedi female antihero for fans to ultimately reject and hate. By the end of the series that's exactly what it looks like. Why the hell would Vader leave her alive after she betrayed him and tried to kill him? Yet in many other instances Vader would kill his subordinates for simply delivering bad news. RIDICULOUS

I actually watched this video because I was curious if anyone else hated the feminist propaganda in the series, as well as the whole Disney Star Wars franchise, as much as me. I CANCELLED my subscription 30 min ago.
She's actually a pretty good actor but there's only so much you can do with a shitty director and retarded writers

The Leia chase scene was like one of those straight to DVD sequels to Disney Channel movies.
Here, couple of facts about Obi-wan Kenobi:
- It was meant to be movie trilogy.
- Female lead Sith. Reva? Was not meant to be in movies. She was put there because Kathleen Kennedy.
- Movies was meant to be Obi-wan journey to becoming old hermit, crazy old man jedi who is capable of killing or at least cutting arms In the middle of public cantina.
- Movies would have feature Darth Vader hunting Obi-wan Kenobi as he was his obbession, but they would have never actually met.
- Movies would have had flashbacks between Anakin and Obi-wan.
- Movie trilogy turned into the TV show, because Kathleen Kennedy wanted strong female character. As a lead role.
Why do leftwing extremists have the right to dictate everything when things like Star Wars were meant to be escapism.
Would've rather wanted 6 hours worth of movies than 6 hours of Reva doing dumbfuck parkour on a roof, Leia being chased by thugs in a walking speed and whatever fuck happened in that Fallen Order fan-bait episode.
I got banned from r/StarWarsMeme for making a meme about how a Twitter post by Disney was blaming all the criticisms about the show on racists & sexists... No one was criticizing the show because of Reva's skin color and they were just mad I pointed this out.
PS: The Grand Inquisitor (despite his horribly inaccurate make-up) was the only one who should've been able to survive a stab to the gut.because of his 2nd stomach

My biggest annoyance with this show was how many times they BLATANTLY copied Jedi: Fallen Order. Lost connection to the force from PTSD, catching Leia from falling thus using the force for the first time in a long time, almost the ENTIRETY of the Fortress Inqusitorius break in. I understand that Fallen Order is a game, so less people would know it compared to shows and movies, but since the game is considered canon, its funny to think Fortress Inquisitorius got a downgrade in security😂 The only reason I watched the whole show was because of my deep love for Ewan and Hayden…
That’s what Disney does best, putting cheap ass nostalgia and callbacks over good storytelling and character development
The wise old mentor from A New Hope has been turned into a dumbass who blurts out Leia's name in front of stormtroopers and attempting to sneak her out of the Inquisitor's base by hiding her under a coat only to be caught red-handed. Obi-Wan of all people didn't foresee that consequence. That's the state of Star Wars canon now.
They managed to make both Ben and Vader weak and stupid. I guess characters can only ever be as intelligent as their writers.

I think the biggest difference between Kenobi and Mavrick is that Kenobi is banking off the viewer reminising and catching references. Meanwhile, Maverick was banking off the characters reminiscing about their pasts. They are investing in their hisotry, and thus we share the connection with them.

This mini-series proves that Count Dooku (Darth Tyranus) was right calling Obi-wan a moron constantly in the AOTC and Clone Wars. Also given how much he trolled Anakin, Dooku was right about him too apparently.

We all know this show could have and should have been a film and that it should have been a dialgoue-heavy, character-driven story about Obi-Wan coming to terms with everything that happened and learning from Qui Gon
After this Vader would go on to NOT look for Obi-Wan for 10 more years. Why? Because he LOVES the chase.
Not to mention all the death and destruction Vader does in the future will be on Obi-Wan's hands now cause he let Vader go. At least in Revenge of the Sith on Musfar, he least thought Vader was dying from burns when he walked away. Not knowing Palpatine would save him.
The entire show was an embarrassment… from Leia being annoying to Reva being the second trashiest Star Wars character (congratulations! She almost tied Rey!)
I love how the writers of Obi Wan neglect the fact Leia NEVER met him before A New Hope, like the line during her hologram where she says "Years ago you served with my father during the close wars" basically confirming that was the first time she had ever spoken to him directly albeit through a message she wasn't sure would reach him.
I said that in the first episode. I couldn't believe they would do something so stupid but then again it's Disney. I'm hoping the Ahsoka show is going to be good.

It could've been a spiritual journey, and a simple story of Kenobi protecting Luke's identity, and learning that Anakin had survived as a mechanical monster.
He could've tried finding or communicating with other Jedi only to comprehend they really were all dead.
He could've accepted how badly he'd failed Anakin, and the Republic, allowing the Sith to return.
Kenobi could've reflected on the arrogance of the fallen Jedi order, and through his new-found humility met the ghost of Qui-Gon.
He could've learned through Qui-Gon how to become one with the force upon death, knowing that one day he would have to face Vader again, and die in that fight in order to help Luke overthrow the Empire, and restore the Republic.
Instead we got him working as a butcher, and a pointless showdown with Vader where we already knew the outcome, Inquisitors that nobody cared about, and a child that could outrun adults because they were outsmarted by branches.
Fucking woeful.

I'm still surprised though, why is no one talking about how just a bit earlier in that scene, dozens of troopers all attacking simultaneously couldn't overwhelm a very lame Kenobi & like 10 more dudes that were on his side. The troopers were literally centimeters away with a blaster from Kenobi like wtf 😭

I was thinking the same once I looked back at it, it makes a cool scene have substance because she would have broken Vader's concentration once he was being surprise attacked and made one of the most obnoxious characters of the series have a redeeming action more substantial. These writer's need to be checked like, have someone prove read or something before releasing this shit 😂

bail organa doesnt hear from obi wan----> obi wan could have been captured----> he sents him a message to a device that could have been confiscated by Vader---> in that message he reveals the location of the only hope the galaxy has to overthrow palpatine.
Reva was so embarrassing, I can only imagine that her tenure as an inquisitor was entirely because Vader knew who she was and what she was doing, and just let her think she was succeeding all as the greatest long term prank in Star Wars history.

Star wars died the moment George put pen to paper on the sale of his I.P. I like to blame Disney but George isn't innocent here. He literally sold out. He gave away his heart and soul for a billion dollars and the corporate world is squeezing every last drop of blood they can out of it before it all goes dry. Your childhood ended long ago and so did star wars.
Now, I don’t remember where I got this information but I have heard that the biggest reason George Lucas sold his company to Disney (Star Wars with it) is because he was scared his company was going to go bankrupt and he cared a lot about his employees and didn’t want them to loose their jobs. That’s why George specifically sold it to Disney, because Disney, in his eyes, is the only company that will never go bankrupt

Lucasfilm hadn't done anything serious in about a decade, a lot of the games released in the mid 2000s were okay or good, but LucasArts had at least two times as many duds as they did successes most years. The franchise certainly wasn't selling lots of toys either with Marvel drawing the attention of most children.
It wouldn't surprise me if Lucas had enough to keep the lights on for a few years, but not enough for any serious projects by the time he sold to Disney.

I made it up to the episode where Vader and Obi fight. When Vader shows up and do Darth Vader shit I was like, ok... maybe this show has some hope.... then fights end happened and Vader just lets him get away and I was like, "Nope.", and stopped watching.
Episode 8 is where Disney Star Wars “Jumped the Shark”.
Obi-Wan was where it became completely unwatchable.
I think Episode 7 started the rot. Remaking A New Hope instead of a proper continuation of the story really hamstrung what was to follow.
The sadest thing about all of this is that some people didn't realize this show was horrible until they watched your video.
And the turd on top, they stole the helmet getting cut to show Anakin's face from the end of Rebels season 2 were it actually had real emotional weight behind it.
I haven't seen this show and I have no interest in seeing it.
But upon learning Vader was in it, and would meet Obi Wan, I immediately thought: "This totally ruins the impact of them meeting again in A New Hope, also causes the 'When I left you I was but the learner, now I am the master' line to have no real meaning anymore"

It would have been fantastic if Obi-Wan discovered Vader's identity by himself, instead of just being told. He could have gone out to confront this Sith Lord with swagger and overconfidence, only to realize exactly who he was facing. It would have been emotionally devastating for him, and that could have led to some great character moments. But no. Can't have that.
While I like that idea, it wouldn't make sense since Obi Wan knows that Anakin is Vader thanks to the recording he saw at the Jedi Temple in Revenge of the Sith. In it he hears Palpatine call Anakin "Lord Vader".
Edit: Unless you are saying he hears about a new Sith Lord but doesn't learn of the name until way later. In which case, yea I'm with you that would've been great. And I just lack reading comprehension skills apparently.
In Legends, he learns that Vader, or Anakin, survived their duel by merely hearing some random people mention Darth Vader in some cantina on Tattooine and he nearly lost his mind over it that he went out to catch some breath. He then heard Qui-Qon talking to him, so he had to find somewhere private to talk so that people won't think he's insane.

I knew this show was shit when Kenobi defeated a fully trained Darth Vader after barely being able to move a tiny rock with the force, meanwhile Vader has been slaughtering Jedi and other foes the last 10 years and embracing his powers. Plot armor at its finest. I think they should have had Vader win, it would tie into episode 4 perfectly when Vader said "When I left you I was but the learner now I'm the master" implying that Vader defeated Obi Wan but was too weak to kill him and in episode 4 Vader was finally willing to kill Obi Wan.

I thought Lucas did a fair job of not violating that/retconning it in Episode III, and well, this kind of... they've trashed everything else I guess, but COME ON writers. Have you seen A New Hope? You can make Vader more powerful, but you can't have him come into contact with Obi Wan once he is, or you've just negated an iconic line in the second highest grossing movie of all time. How can we reach these writers?

Emperor Palpatine coming back was the moment that all of Star Wars post George Lucas died. Literally -- by that one simple action, all of what we had seen beforehand was completely null. The prophecy rang untrue, and therefore undid quite literally every action any character in this series had ever fulfilled.

The idea that a Sith takes up a dark side "persona" over their old self is well established in canon already. There's no new revelation here it's already established that Vader and Anakin both coexist as their own entities, as does Kylo and Ben, Tyranus and Dooku, etc

I told my friend before Kenobi released “This show will make of break Star Wars. If they mess this up, there’s no coming back.” - Unfortunately, I was right. Friends have begged me to watch Andor but for me, it’s too late. I’m done. They somehow managed to take me, a LEGO Star Wars set collecting, wookiepedia reading, Star Wars obsessed super nerd for two decades, and turn me off of Star Wars entirely.
At first I was frustrated, then annoyed; but now, now I’m just completely indifferent. I went from cheering for announcements to rolling my eyes to now not reacting or even knowing about them at all. I just don’t care anymore. The moment they retconned 40+ years of Star Wars content and trashed Lucas’ own story for the sequels, it was over.
