    I wish people would stop saying Ruby was brainwashed by Jodi. She wasn't. Ruby enjoyed abusing her children. In her journal, you can see that she spent most of her time fantasizing all the different ways ahe could torture her kids. Ruby and Jodi are another example of what happens when two psychopaths come together with a shared interest.

      Yeah, but Jodi fanned those flames into a furnace. Ruby DOES NOT get a pass, but she was not a full on Nazi concentration camp guard until she got "counseled" by Jodi. She would have just lost custody of her kids, with zero jail time, without Jodi. IMO.

    • @OmEvul1415
      @OmEvul1415 29 дней назад

      @@jeffzeiler346 Her neighbors were calling CPS on her. She couldn't do this without the right environment. Jodi's home was more isolated so she didn't have to worry about the neighbors. However, Ruby's true intentions are darker. She kept pushing Jodi to purchase the land in the desert, specifically so nobody could hear screaming. That's Ruby. When R was a baby he fell off the couch and broke his femur. Ruby didn't take him for medical treatment for a week and it's not he wasn't crying in pain the entire time. How's that Jodi's fault? That shows her lack of empathy. Ruby may have used some of Jodi's methods earlier but they didn't have the effects on the kids that she wanted. It wasn't painful enough. She surpassed Jodi. Sure, Jodi has clients who she mistreated including her niece. But as a therapist having dead or disfigured clients is bad for business. So she never took it that far. As far as everyone knows, none of Jodi's clients had chunks of flesh missing. Add Ruby to the equation and you get emaciated children, rotting flesh and abuse so severe that you can't even take them to receive necessary and urgent medical care because you'd be arrested immediately. That's Ruby's contribution. These two psychopaths created a living hell together. Alone, they each individually probably would've never been arrested for taking things this far. Ruby would've continued the abuse but not to this level and Jodi would still be a snake oil salesman making money off gullible Mormons (Which isn't too hard when you understand what they believe already).

    What happened is that she was advised by lawyer to pretend that she was manipulated into abusing her children while in fact she knew exactly what she was doing. And her family is also just helping her case by saying she changed dramatically after meeting Judy.

    • @OmEvul1415
      @OmEvul1415 Месяц назад +3

      That sounds about right. Plus everyone who wanted revenge against Jodi for stuff she did in the past started doing interviews and it worked in Ruby's favor since all the evidence wasn't available to the public yet so it was open season on Jodi. Ruby's biggest help actually came from Jodi's niece Jessi. In fact Ruby's lawyer probably saw Jessi's interviews and then came up with the strategy. No wonder why Ruby was smiling in court.

      Worse is her assertion the boy ‘stole’ water.
      She complained that at his age he was pooping his pants while standing all day in the sun, and that it was runny. She determined this meant he was sneaking unauthorized drinks of water.
      In fact he was dehydrated. And dehydration is the #1 cause of diarrhea. She was slowly killing him and blamed it on him for stealing water. His body knew it needed water.
      Is it any wonder he told her he’d rather have a glass of water than her as a mother?

    • @TEAM__POSEID0N
      @TEAM__POSEID0N Месяц назад +36

      Not only were the punishments a b u s i ve in their own right, but they were particularly pernicious because most often the children weren't actually doing anything wrong. It was clearly a case where Ruby enjoyed meting out punishment and would just make up "crimes" ("stealing water" for example), accuse the kids of committing the "crimes" and then punish them. This is an echo of what Jessi (Jodi's niece was saying). Jodi would just accuse Jessi of committing horrible sins and doing things that Jessi didn't even do. Jodi's evidence?? "Personal revelation" and the "Holy Ghost" telling her what was "really going on". The kids were trapped in an i n s a n e a s y l u m and the inmates (Jodi and Ruby) were running it.

      The actual punishment is being forced to eat food you don’t want to eat as a child lol. I still am traumatized by being forced to eat a certain amount of boiled cabbage or halibut steak before I could leave the dinner table. After nearly falling asleep at the table, I’d finally suck it up and plug my nose while gulping milk down with it. I’ve never eaten fish or cabbage since being forced to eat it as a kid, and I’m 48 now haha.

That's going to leave a mark on all of them for the rest of their lives and I don't think they get the recognition they deserve!
    As for those who were behind all this... I think they are most likely in protective custody since the main rule in inmate circles is you do NOT do things to kids. If you do, you get "special treatment" and we don't mean in the nice friendly here's an extra pack of ramen noodles way!

The accusations of porn/sex addiction, lesbian accusations, the way she always seperates the man from the relationship when "counseling" couples, and the way they made sure the husband could never stumble into the house (has to get permission to come home first, can't ever come to the upstairs bedroom, etc), plus the fact that she had been leaving her kids for days at a time to go stay with and sneak around with Jodi make me think Jodi is a lesbian predator and Ruby had a midlife lesbian crisis. My mom was a single mom of 6 kids and she said she bought food for us to pack our own and sometimes paid our lunch, one year she went back and forth with the school saying she paid for our lunch when the school said she did not. We went without lunch. The middle children used to eat all the lunch food and hoard it. They used to steal our money from us too, which makes me think one of them took our lunch money from the school if mom had them pay for ours with their own. What this did, mind you, my twin and I both admitted to eating paper when young and getting food from teachers and other students, but I picked berries in the hedgerows for my grandpa when they were in season and he paid me market price per bag. I saved up and used that money to buy school lunch food and gave money to my twin when she asked for it. Meanwhile my middle born siblings still steal if they can and the older sister was breaking into my own home through a rear window to use the bathroom she would say but to also steal my jewelry. She smeared me as a drunk and drug addict when I never touched anything and would call me a wh*ore, when I am not. My older sister is a lifelong morbidly obese woman and my twin and I always thin... I expect as long as no accidents happen we will out live our nasty ass sister. I should have had her arrested when she was breaking into my home, but my mom would flip out when I told her I was going to. I moved to a break in proof home.

    I watched the 20/20 special on this and came to the realization that R didn't want to go to the police station because he was planning on turning Ruby and Jodi in. He wanted to go there because they had told him that he was so evil that the abuse would stop only once he went to prison.
    Imagine how bad it had to be for that baby to believe that he was the one who would be going to jail and to still choose that over living with those 2 hags. At one point he even told Ruby that he would rather have a glass of water than her as his mother. That's how thirsty and abused he was.

Yes if you look up the statue of Baphomet you will see this star prominently displayed. And on top of the temple door you will see the same symbol. Anybody in witchcraft will tell you that this is the most powerful symbol on Earth. This symbols main objective is deception. 1 triangle going up representing the male and creation. And one triangle pointing down representing the female and destruction. And the Mormon Church actually uses this star to represent Elohim. Which is not only one of the names for Baphomet but also for Lucifer. It's also the star of the represents transgender or gender fluidity. Now look at her throat when she talks. And I know you say but she has children. Does she? That's not possible to fake things like this. Like it or not people lie to you everyday and you believe it, you've been trained to believe what the government, and religion, etcetera... tell you. It's okay to be stupid. I'm very stupid. But I'm becoming less stupid every day. Is the first way is not believing what people tell me and doing the work myself to find out what the truth is. And I warn you the truth is a hard pill to swallow. Because you first have to unlearn everything you have learned. And if you think that Mormons are great you can also find many many videos of people that are Mormons is that a transgender and married in the temple. They brag about how they got run over on the man. When it's the man that still is getting something over on them every day. They know the truth when they come through the temple. And they clear it to make sure that they're going to get through. And they make a big deal out of women not being able to get the priesthood. Also this can be done in the temple for a price.

      Original sin is a bedrock of Christianity. The meager logic and rationalism of man does not supersede divine law, nor does the unfortunate heresy of Joseph Smith. No adult or child in this world is both perfect and holy. A simple baptism is sufficient to free us from the sin of Adam. The narcissism of Joseph Smith is not. Regardless, I am not the Creator, only a humble messenger. I pray that your strange cult will be redeemed in His eyes when Judgement Day arrives.

      @ginfidel we find that the belief of Original Sin, especially as it regards to children, is horrifying. For children and babies, under the age of eight who do not even have the capacity to formulate sin is ridiculous. We believe that Adam and Eve made a choice to leave the Garden so that man could be created. It's Christ's sacrifice through the Atonement, that makes baptism the miracle that it is. All must follow in His footsteps. Original Sin completely overrides the principle of Free Will/Agency. What mercy is there in Original Sin? Anyone regardless of place, age, time, or opportunity is not eligble for paradise if they have not been baptized. Where's the mercy? This is where we differ from other denominations. That and our understanding of the Godhead. Wow, that's a mind bender. God be with you. ❤

      There's another comment somewhere below where someone says the father of this family should have been the central focus of the investigation instead of the mother, which seems weird to me - not that I think the father isn't a problem too, because he absolutely should have known that something awful was happening to the children in his own home and absolutely should have intervened.
      BUT, it's pretty clear to me as well that the women in this story where the ones who held the authority in some weird way, and the comments from the children and family and even the men accused of prawn addiction strongly point to the women being the ones in control of the situation, and the father -and at least some of the other men - falling into line behind them with "in-home separations", letting their wives, the therapist, and church authorities take the lead on decision-making on who sleeps with who and where, and so on.
      Make no mistake, the father should have stood up and said or done something, and is complicit by essentially giving these women his consent to abuse his children, if not actively participating in it himself (which is possible, though I didn't hear anything in this video to suggest it happened), but this was some weird sort of matriarchy, and it's as brutal as anything you'd expect from a dysfunctional and abusive patriarchy.
      With that in mind, and given the weird witch-hunt-like obsessions these women had with accusing their husbands, sons, and even toddlers of supposed prawn addiction, and the girls with enjoying the use of feminine hygiene products a little too much, and with weird sleeping arrangements and so on, it wouldn't surprise me if there were some really strange relationships and contacts between these women and the children, including the female children. There was definitely something off in the family dynamics there, and a "distortion" (to borrow their term) in any healthy attitudes toward adult intimacy and the natural process of growing up.
      I guess what I'm trying to say is that, counter to what we might expect from a normally male-dominated religious family, it's the women in this story who are setting very strange boundaries for "intimacy", and those boundaries are extremely invasive into the children's lives, while isolating and emasculating the men in this story.
      I don't think Sydney is wrong that the therapist might have been helping to direct and lead this dynamic in that community, and again, the husband was absolutely part of the problem by not intervening in any way he could or should have, but it's the mother who was "wearing the pants" in that arrangement, and absolutely the one in control there - the investigation focused on the right person, but the investigation absolutely should not stop with the mother, the therapist knew what she was doing, the father should have done more to protect the children, and this isn't the only family of victims of the bigger "cult" problem that Sydney can sense at work under the surface of this case.
      I don't think "cult" is quite the right word here: I don't think the "therapist" was in a "cult leader" position, per se, but rather in the position of empowering some very sick people to become self-motivated, self-actualized monsters and terrors within their own homes... this "therapy" seems like a family-level, miniature, do-it-yourself cult-factory more than a cult in and of itself! You, too, can be a cult leader within your own home, in 12 easy steps!

    The closet the little girl (9) was in was NOT the safe that was in the basement. The Franke's met Jodi the therapist in LATE 2018 when Jodi became their oldest son's therapist which means that the little girl (the youngest) was 4 years old. Jodi did therapy with the parents more than their oldest son which is when the abuse esclated. (When two sadists meet they get approval from each other, especially when one is a therapist.) What most RUclipsrs do Not realize is that Jodi was in the Franke's life way earlier than they think. It has been said by Kevin Franke many times that Jodi came into their lives in Late 2018. So many of Ruby's mothering was from Jodi. BUT that doesn't mean that Ruby wasn't already making her kids miss meals and regularly threatened her kids. She did. BUT again Jodi's sadist nature encouraged Ruby's sadist nature so the two youngest children got the worst of their mother. Also, I just want to say that the Son, R, the youngest son was a HERO, who after two previous escape attempts, finally escaped and got help for everyone. (Note of the accusations that the kids were doing inappropriate things to other kids... Jodi told children & parents that putting stuffed animals on your bed means that you are doing things that are sexual. I do NOT believe that the kids did inappropriate things to anyone.) I think Jodi made up strange things like stuffed animals are sexual a lot....so the family saying that Ruby made things up makes since when you know that Jodi shamed people for normal innocent things people do and made them really bad. Shame control.

      Kevin is a weak and pathetic man, that goes without saying and we can see that in the earlier videos, but the situation is a mix of a faith that says the woman runs the home as well as Jodi's evil control. We can see Jodi's evil games in the case of poor Adam Steed, a man who's life was ruined by Jodi in the past, all because he spoke out against CSA in the Mormon church. Kevin COULD have saved his children, but he's also a victim, so it's complicated with him.

    I think Ruby had this in her the whole time- having Connections behind her just helped her (ridiculously) rationalize the abuse to herself. “See? I’m not wrong. This person ALSO says I’m not wrong!”

    Good Lord. The lunch thing got me. My Mother coached me at the beginning of every year: "What do you do if you forget your lunch bag or lunch money?" Us together: "*CHARGE!!!* One time my cousin forgot to grab his lunch bag (which she got up early to pack, mind you) on the way to day summer camp. Mom drove back to the park and left it on the door knob of the rec center we used as our home base because we were out on a hike. The male counselor said to my cousin, "Well, you've got a nice aunt!" Even if she didn't notice he forgot his bag I would have shared my lunch with him. Ruby saying "I hope no one shares their lunch with her" is the most un-Christian sentiment. You're not just punishing your kid, you're punishing the people who want to help your kid. If I was the teacher, I would have said, "Screw you lady. I'm making sure the kid gets a lunch."

    Ruby’s behavior before she met Jodie is a brand of self-affirming narcissism that I resent, because I survived it myself. My mom would fill up my bed with dirty dishes if I forget to wash the dishes before I went to sleep, so I couldn’t get a good night’s sleep because I was curled up in a ball. If I got in trouble, she took something out of my room, and kept going until I had nothing left, not even curtains on the windows. Then she tells me that none of that would be happening if I would just behave, as if it was all my fault. I was 9.

      Yup - if you were just PERFECT, she wouldn't have to abuse you! My poor, overwhelmed Dad repeated "She's your mother" (he believed that gave her the right to be abusive), that I swore I'd never have kids long before I reached age 10. I'm now in my 60s and realizing what I missed because of her viciousness & narcissism.

      taking stuff out of your room isnt abuse lol. the dishes might be over the top but taking away toys that can be earned back is pretty normal. in fact you sound pretty entitled if you werent even helping around the house

      @@nefariouspersephone9447 I agree taking things away isn't abuse. You aren't entitled to have stuff unless it's basics like clothes and warm and clean bed. Putting dishes in bed seems like a lot of work and disgusting so that's pretty extreme. But labeling every punishment or consequence as abuse is absurd.
      You better believe my kids lose electronics, phone and certain toys and stuff when the behavior merits it. It's so far from from abuse.
      It's not about perfection (maybe it was for the posters mother, but it isn't for me). It's about realizing that behavior has consequences.

    Jodie was Rubie oldest son's therapist before he was sent to the rehab camp. The woman where the girls were staying at is also tied to Connexions. Probably 3rd in command. She is in almost every picture of the Connexions Vacations. On top of that, Rubie's husband mentions her name specifically during interrogation. That she was there during many of Jodie's "visions".

    Great work Sydney. This is truly harrowing.
    As a mother of two pudding people myself, I can't even wrap my head around withholding food as punishment. Eating is NOT a privilege, it is a RESPONSIBILITY as a parent or caretaker to feed your children.
    That teacher contacting them that she felt "uncomfortable" about their child not having food is also outrageous. Any teacher who do not help feed a hungry student with no lunch is complicit in the torturous treatment.
    I am utterly sickened by this story.. These people do not love their children, and the obsession with "porn addiction" is quite the disturbing detail..

    About 19:20: Their individual "truths" are not truths, but their perceptions. If you commit an illegal act because of your own false "perception", that does not change the truth that you did an illegal act. Otherwise known as folks nowadays refuse to accept responsibility for their own stupidity.

    That doggy! The “levity” was just the adorable break I needed from this rough story:(
    Fun fact: I grew up in the town that Ruby and her husband filmed 8 Passengers in (Springville, not Ivans where the most abuse was inflicted under Jody’s watch.)
    My parents are Mormon; but just the kindest, most loving, salt of the earth people. And though my sisters and I have chosen different paths, they clearly love us, are so good to us, and welcome us home with open arms. What Ruby has done isn’t indicative of most of the Mormons I know at all, I have to say.
