As a former morbidly obese person (now just obese) I find these people so out of touch with reality it's not even funny. I'm not losing weight because I hate being fat but because I enjoy being alive.
@@jackalenterprisesofohio fear of death is called Thanatophobia The fear of a life threatening disease is called Nosophobia OH MY GAWD YOU'RE FAT ?? SAVE MEEE, IM GONNA DIE
I miss the olden days, when "body positivity" just meant, "you don't have to be a size zero to be beautiful." It was a counter to anorexia. It said being 5 pounds over your "ideal weight" wasn't the end of the world. That was actually healthy.
@@MsStack42 When you see friends and relatives literally starving themselves to death, claiming that they're disgusting hogs while they waste away to nothing, you'll know.
I'm still trying to figure out why "fatphobic" is supposed to be a label I should be scared of. Yeah I'm afraid of being at a high risk of early death. This is the way.
So many ‘phobe’ labels are used nowdays that I’m like “So? That’s a bad thing how?” So many thing in our society we are phones of because it’s self destructive to a society to encourage those behaviors… like obesity, homosexuality, murder, and others
And recently. We're hearing about how many of the 'Fat Acceptance' influencers are dying in their late 30's, early 40's.. One was particularly pitiful. In a vid posted to TikTok (of course), she admitted that she "ruined her life with food", said she was hoping it was not too late for her. She could apparently feel death coming for her.. It was the second to last video she ever posted.
yeh there was a vid made by comedian isaac butterfield on the biggies pointing out the large (pun intended) number of them who where now also no longer with us....
I had an ex-girlfriend who spouted the "health at every size" mantra and about people being fatphobic with it being hard to get clothes. Years later she was hospitalised and told she needed to lose weight. She started going to the gym and lost the weight, said she had more energy, her period was regular and felt better overall. If you want to believe you are attractive at any size then go for it but I push back on anyone saying that they are healthy at any size.
@@MrCmon113 nah I ditched her when she was healthy at every size. I was like that’s not how that works and decided it was easier to leave than convince her. I still talk to her which is why I know years later she was accelerated to reality. Partially what makes this toxic is that it’s a confidence boost for these people to delude themselves that they don’t have a problem and it wasn’t worth destroying her confidence.
When I was almost 300 lbs, I found a community that accepted me as a fat person - the gym. Some there were overweight, some there we're fit, and some there were extremely fit. But, everybody was welcoming and supportive of each other for each of us to reach our goals. I've lost over 60 lbs and I think I should probably lose another 30. Now, I am no longer fat, but I'm still a bit overweight. :-)
Gym goers get a bad rep. Like they're aggressive steroid users and intimidating, judging people. But anyone who has become a regular at the gym knows just how supportive and helpful these people are. Good on you personally for putting in the effort to reach your personal goals
That's a thing I also observed. Many overweight people may be afraid to go to the gym because they think the gym rats there will make fun of them. But let's be real: everyone who's ever seriously worked out and has half a braincell will respect the hell out of everyone who decides to go to the gym and get in better shape. In the gym we're all brothers and sisters trying to get healthier and stronger. (Well, except for the posers and Instagram photo girls. Those are the ones I'm really making fun of.)
@occasion I know you weren't asking me but get active;walk, jog exercise program.Portion control.Don't starve yourself, eat small meals throughout the day.Try your best to avoid cake, cookies, potato chips & sweets unless it's a special treat but even then..don't overdo it.Oatmeal is good.Chicken, seafood also good. Most importantly, get active.Don't expect overnight results,it will be painful make no mistake. When you get there you will be a completely new person.Wishing you all the best.GOD be with you on your journey.
@occasion_lee Took 2 yrs to lose 50 lbs. 25 lbs a year is a reasonable goal. See that sandwich cookie?......don't eat it. Potato chips.....don't eat the whole bag 1/4 will do. I found that overtime I craved sweets and junk less. I started at 246 lbs and at 196 now. I feel better and have more energy. Put a bit of exercise in there too, even if it's just a short walk everyday. I'm rooting for ya.
@@Crezelltree4261 eating small portions throughout the day is part of the problem as to why people are so overweight. I have lost over 60lbs over the past 5 months by doing a relatively healthy Ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting. I usually fast for 18 hours and I eat a normal amount of calories and food within my eating period. I got blood work done in August and I was considered insulin resistant, I also was taking pepcid for GERD. I got bloodwork done at the end of the last month and I am now considered insulin sensitive and I stopped taking pepcid about 2 months into getting more healthy. Other than walking about 10,000 steps for my job, I did little to no exercise, though starting in the new year, I started strength training, because I want to build any muscle that I might of lost while losing all of the weight.
I am 5'8 125lbs and recently I walked out wearing a tank top and an obese woman told me "whoever sold you that muscle shirt should have sold you the muscles" my response was "whoever sold you that belly shirt should have kept the belly" but somehow I was yelled at as the bad person
my 300+pd ant use to call me stripe cause I was so skinny as a chilled, when I turned 16 I finally retaliated with, "rather a healthy stripe then a sickly blob". 2 years before I even got a Christmas message reply.
Update the more I see of these obese women the more sticking it gets. Have a sister that is 73 and lost almost all of mobility. Don't even say fat is healthy. Human bones and joints were never intended to carry that much load. Plus I don't see men beating down the doors to meet them. Big clothing manufacturers seem to me the only real winners is fat topia mind.
Diend: Yes it is. I myself am afraid. Very afraid. So if you are "Phopbic" about TO MUCH fat being on yourself (to much by medical standerds, not those of a pro-anna forum) that is perfectly reasonable. where it stops being reasonable is when you are scared of, hostile towards, mean to, or dismisive of peole just because they are fat. Most fat. peole have expererinced. plenty of that. So if they seem to be just a tad sensitive about that issue, that's why.
@@milascave2 And ya know, I actually like chicks who bigger. But they just gotta be a good shape and not being a fucking whale. More like a slightly chubby cat.
Growing up my Mom was always obese. I specifically remember her claiming that it was okay because her blood pressure was fine, her blood sugars and cholesterol etc were all within the healthy range. And they were fine!..... Until they weren't. It all came crashing down at the same time, she was diagnosed with hypertension, prediabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease all at the same time. Her prediabetes progressed to full blown type II and she went into heart failure within a couple years of the original diagnosis. She was sick, she was dying, she couldn't enjoy what little life she had left. Multiple strokes came to hit her while she was already down. Everything she suffered was directly the result of years of abuse in the form of shitty food and little activity. My sister and I have always taken health seriously and it was heartbreaking to see her waste away in such a completely unnecessary way. Finally she started making changes, started eating healthy and walking everyday and the weight started coming off. I'll never forget the day she called me to tell me that for the first time in her adult life she wasn't obese anymore, she was so proud it was all she wanted to talk about. Then another phone call with the news that she was no longer overweight and another to tell me her diabetes was on full remission and she no longer had to monitor her levels. She's a completely different person from the depressed Mom who wouldn't get off the couch to play with us when we were kids. She walks 5 Kms a day and genuinely enjoys it. There is still permanent damage to her heart and she will still face a shorter life as a result but at least she can actually live the years she has left now. She told me how deeply she regrets abusing her body and how desperately she wishes she could go back and beg her younger self to change.
We need to see more story’s like this!, honestly this story warms my heart and I hope that other people can see this and be inspired by amazing mothers story
I will tell anyone to their faces that the world can tell you to lose weight or your doctor will. When the doctor tells you to lose weight, it is usually followed up with “….or else!” When I am at the gym and I see overweight people working out, I cheer them on. They accept that being overweight is unhealthy and they doing something about it.
I was morbidly obese and I lost 30kg(66lbs). I still have 20kg(44lbs) more to lose but I'm really motivated. This was life changing: - I can go up the stairs or walking uphill without being out of breath - I feel more energetic and stronger - Clothes that wasn't flattering on me before are now - I'm much more comfortable in hot weather - I'm more comfy in planes, trains and cars - I have no more adult acne -I can do activities that have weight limit and do activities that needs high cardio
Im Gen X. I was a dance student in the 90s when waif thin was the only acceptable look. Between the "fat free" trend and being expected to maintain 90lbs at 5'7" tall, i became anorexic (I lived for Thinspo) and absolutely annihilated my body, my gut health and my metabolism. By my 30s my annorexia had become bulemia which then became Binge Eating Disorder and i balooned up to 300# give or take. After being diagnosed with several comorbidities i am now fighting my ass off (literally) to lose weight at 48 years old. I have a fully committed husband who has loved me and helped me love myself at every size, but ill be damned if i want to die before im 60. Hand over my fat phobic flag. Im gonna fly that mfr high and proud if me losing weight means im fat phobic.
I'm a skinny guy who does his best to gain some weight. I might be on the other end of the scale, but there IS A HEALTHY WEIGHT that for some reason people are denying lately. We've known this for centuries but we've been bombarded by absurd lies lately in the media. That's a whole other issue. But anyhow, keep on trucking and be the healthiest you can be!
@@stephenthomas1492 Absolutely! Healthy is a never ending goal. It always helps to be thankful for what we have. Since I left this comment I’ve been able to drop from 12 meds a day to 3. I’m so thankful. We’re never too old to try! You got this!
I am 70. I have been a fat man most of my life. I have never known a fat person, male or female that didn't cry in the middle of the night at least once. There is nothing healthy or beautiful about fat. I don't mean just a few lbs overweight, I mean fat. Don't pretend it is. Not finding fat attractive is a normal reaction. Do not allow yourself to be "normal shamed."
Hey man... There's no reason to not try to fix it. It's never too late. I was a drug addict for a very long time and I would also do a lot of crying. I hated myself. Eventually I figured out life, got off that stufd and I'm much more happy. That being said... I still remember how life was back then. We all have our issues...but most of them revolve around not being happy with ourselves. I can't tell you how to live your life...but if you're not happy, change yourself. In as little as a month you could see a real change if you want. If you're on this channel watching this video...you're probably not a stupid person. You're smart enough to figure out a way to be happy...so I have faith in you dude.
Indeed. I do not encourage people to hate themselves. But: your lips can tell a lie, but at some point your lungs, or your joints, or your heart, etc. will know.
When I was 350+ pounds (6'2") and topping out at 415, I thought I was "healthy”, because I could dance, I walked fast and people always commented on it. Because of a large lung capacity and training, I could sing quite well. Until I couldn't do any of these things anymore. Suddenly, I found myself barely able to breathe, with type 2 diabetes, gout and congestive heart failure. I HAD to lose weight or I would die. I'm down to 270. I can hear the response, "Yeah, but that's just one extreme example. Most people can be healthy even if they're fat.” Well, I wonder (actually, I know) if, had I not eaten everything I could get my hands on and blown up into a fast-walking land blimp, I would have gotten to the point where it was lose weight or die? No, fat is NOT healthy. You can FEEL healthy while obese, but that's mainly because you don't know what healthy actually feels like. Denial is a major component of this form of self abuse.
Truer words have never been spoken!!!! Obese people get their panties in a wad when people say exactly what you just said, but the truth is, if they could take a pill and would wake up tomorrow as a thin person, those “happy” fat people would absolutely take it!!! That’s not someone who’s “happy” with their weight/size.
Big people can be big and safely carry the burden for a while but it does eventually catch up with you! In my younger days I had many football mates who were above what we would now call healthy but could still train, run and play as hard as all of us but some are now gone, some have just disappeared and those left are a lot more conscious about what what it means to be healthy to survive. Getting old sucks but the alternative to getting old is checking out now!
_"Suddenly, I found myself barely able to breathe, with type 2 diabetes, gout and congestive heart failure. I HAD to lose weight or I would die."_ And nobody can prove this was due to your weight. This is anti-fat bias. Medical Mafia did nothing for you while they should have and terat you like anyone underweight and the right weight. All 3 can have any number of causes.
I doubt I can re-train myself to find something unattractive attractive no matter how often you tell me something is attractive. Not sure that is how attraction works.
You know the most depressing thing, "healthy at every size" was not originally an excuse to be fat. It started out as a motivating phrase. It was like, you can become healthy at every size. That your current size isn't a deterrent, you can be six hundred pounds and you should still try.
@Riven326 And you're free to have your opinion. Personally, I agree with the original sentiment. No matter how much of a fat-fuck, obeast, ham-planet you are, you can and should still take the steps to get you right. Even just baby steps. Inch towards daylight.
Also, even people who took it more literally didn't tend to mean you were healthy if you were physically incapable of getting out of bed or through your front door due to obesity.
I weighed 340lbs at age 15. My brother was also fat as hell, but not as big as me. One summer, he came home from college and had lost a ton of weight and I was jealous as hell. I wanted that, too. It really sucks being 15 and the fat kid in high school. You get shit from everyone and girls wont even give you the time of day. So from that day forward, I was dead set on losing weight. I cut soda out of my diet, started eating less shitty food and less food overall. I used to eat until I was literally bursting, started eating until I was just satisfied enough. Ended up losing 50+ lbs within the first few months, but my weight loss started plateauing. So then I signed up for a gym membership and started exercising 5 days a week. Eventually I got down to ~150 lbs by the time I turned 18, put on a little muscle and was up to 175 a few years later and I've been that weight ever since. I'm 35 now. Had I continued on the path I was on and not changed my bad habits, I'd probably be a miserable fuck or even dead. It's actually very easy to lose weight and keep it off (being young and having a metabolism also helps), you just have to WANT it and stay dedicated. No excuses. No bullshit. You'll be a lot happier and healthier.
Congratulations your achievements! Not many people have the mental fortitude to go all out on health, especially children, but the results are definitely worth it in the long run
I've told all my kids, one son and FOUR daughters, to be strong physically, mentally, and spiritually. If you can harness the power of these three categories, you've got a better shot an having a successful and happy life. Fat women who blame others for their weight and expect the world to bend to their needs are lacking in each category.
I've genuinely never understood the "skinny people buying up larger sizes is bad" argument because from a business perspective if they see an increased interest in these larger sizes they should respond to that by having a higher supply. Supply and demand is one of the most basic business concepts so that argument has always confused me
Because it's not the case. The sizes they're looking for are not the average person's oversize. Most people buy one size above to get an oversized t-shirt for example. I wear S and get an M, someone who wears L would get an XL. They're wearing 3XL and most fit people don't wear 2XL so no fit person is buying their sizes. 3XL stuff is just rare in most of the countries because they're not high in demand and they cost more to produce.
@@nadirqg I've had to wear 3x since I was 13. According to that fat chart I'm half not even fat and half mid fat, lol. Freaking bewbs... quite annoying.
Yeah, but *our* oversize isn't theirs, as stated before. I'm a size EU S/M but I love to wear L/XL to be comfy in my clothes. L/XL is nowhere near the size of those ~infinifat~ people. So, we don't even "steal" their own sizes to wear oversized stuff. So, Idk what they're complaining about
With the oversized look coming in a few years ago, me, a slim woman American size 4/6, UK 6/8, had little choice with one size (saving money for manufacturers). OK, I don't like my clothes clinging and tight, but some of the OS were huge. I quite like loser clothing for summer, but without a belt, there were tents! Buying a larger size for me means a 10 UK, so I don't think I'm encroaching on these ladies. I am not fat phobic, but it looks unhealthy, and most can hardly walk and look short of breath. If you are large, and struggle with dieting, at least eat very healthy food, cut out sugar and fizzy drinks, and try to get some exercise, just a walk, a swim, or gentle stretching exercises. I've always been healthy, but now little things are starting to go wrong in my 60's. This will happen to them much earlier, knees and other joints will go, digestion will go wrong. These little chronic problems are not so little when you are in a lot of pain. There are myriad reasons why losing weight is complex and not understood. For some, the advice works, for others it is harder. I am sure it does not help to stare or insult, but to not only do nothing to become healthier, but glorify in it and expect others to pick up the pieces is extremely narcissistic. The only person who can do something is you - it's your personal journey, don't let others say what is best for you. It's almost a bullying of loud mouthed over sized people to other larger people, who may now feel put down about losing weight. Hey, as a natural skinny, I get lots of comments and nasty jibes from mainly women. I eat well and healthily and do a standard amount of exercise, dancing walking every day, swimming in season. I don't wish for everyone to be slim, all body shapes and sizes are fine unless they start to look as if they are unhealthy. Do most people think anorexia is pretty? It makes you look skeletal and hollows you out. I fear both sides of the coin are suffering from body dysmorphia and issues that need to be properly addressed.
That's a right wing concept, market forces, buy what you want with your money. Left wing people believe people who need things should have those things. You only need big clothes if your fat and when skinny people have them then some poor fat person has to go without.
As a obese woman that once had curves and has family that is obese, I’m obese because of my eating habits. My parents formed them when I was a child but now I’m an adult and I can change my eating habits and add exercise. I did do this back in June of 2022 and I’ve lost 30 pounds! It’s not hard to do but the will to do it and continue to do it is rough. I plan to live to be 94 and be mobile!

the tl;dr is there's more to health than weight. The obsession with weight can cause people to overlook other problems or just claim that if you lose weight, X thing will go away. *rolls eyes* that's not true. You can be as skinny as a rail and still have health problems, like heart disease. I was 265 when I developed type 2 diabetes. (I'm now 200.) My brother, 6'0", was 150 when *he* developed diabetes. Nobody thought this rail thin guy was diabetic, but there he was throwing up in the ICU because he was in ketoacidosis. What we have in common is both our parents were/are type 2 diabetics. And their parents...seriously you can't blame all the health problems of fat people on being fat.
When my doctor was away on maternity leave I had to see a different doctor. He weighed me and showed me how much I had weighed previously over the last couple of years. He gently asked what I thought was the reason for my fat gain and when I admitted "late night snacking" his relief was instant and obvious. I can only imagine the anger, denial and bullshit excuses other patients come up with for him to react that way. Poor guy.
Whether you're making a sandwich for the customer who got in line first, making cars stop for a train or construction project, or educating patients on their health, Americans hate nothing more than a working man just doing his job.
I got up to 200lbs at my heaviest after having my son. I am a 5'6" female so that was a bunch of weight for my frame. I was achy and tired all the time. I decided to loose weight. I can tell you as the pounds came off by the 10s I was feeling better, more mobile, had more energy, and was just generally less depressed and in a better mood all around. If that makes me "fatphobic" I will take you label happily. I feel better and I am happier, sooooo I think even with that label I am winning 😂
I was 209 at my heaviest after having 4 kids. They are all close in age (which is what we wanted). Anyways I too decided to lose weight! I am currently 25lbs lighter than this time last year. I still have about 40lbs I would like to lose being that I am 5'2. I'm at 177lbs right now and currently part of a weight loss challenge. Ideally I would like to be around 130lbs but would be happy with at least 20lbs more gone 🙂. I too have way more energy, feel more confident and just overall feel better.
You are scared, scared of feeling like crap. I'm scared of not getting to do what I enjoy when I'm old enough to afford it. A lot to fear with obesity.
I'm 5'5" and weigh about 220 lbs but I'm 8 months pregnant with my first baby 😅 my original weight was about 200 lbs ... well I wasn't a skinny person I never considered myself fat ethier but maybe I am 😅 I'm just wondering how I'm gonna get all this wieght off after my baby is born ughhh
Same I'm 5'6 and weighed 200 lbs after having my daughter I had high blood pressure developed PCOS I was in pain all the time I still have sciatica pain but I lost 20 lbs and feel so much better blood pressure went down I still have PCOS though and so the doctor recommended I lose another 20 and it should get better
@@flyingunicorncat8178 Make sure to nurse the baby, they suck down a lot of calories. Avoid the temptation to eat every time they eat. Get a sling so you can carry them around and hold them rather than sit and hold them. Be aware that lack of sleep makes you crave carbs so do your best to sleep. Every time you crave sugar eat some protein instead.
I myself sort of got sucked into this, and thought there was nothing that needed to be changed and that my weight was perfectly fine. I finally looked in the mirror and truly saw what I was doing to myself, and I was horrified. I have now been dieting and working out to lose weight, and I feel SO MUCH better. I have more energy and I can do the things I wanted to do without running out of breath so quickly. I will continue to lose weight IN A HEALTHY WAY and really make myself the best I can be. You only have one body so treat it well, because it is yours, and yours alone. 😊
This is actually golden advice. I used to do yoga daily, and several doctors think it is because of that that I'm now able to walk and stuff... I was in a car accident but didn't become as injured as it looked on MRI.
You will be really thankful you made that decision when you get older (>60). Even when you are 80ish (as I am) you will still be able to do most of the things you did when you where younger (although it may take longer for the pain to subside).
“To end fat phobia we need to dismantle Western civilization.” Yes because Eastern civilization is SO accepting of fat people. That’s why most of them on average are smaller than us
in japan if you live there and get fat , people will actually touch your belly with there finger like the pillsbury doughboy and tell you to lose weight. and there is a midlife health exam at the doctor which rates your health .
“If you disagree with me then you hate fat people” this is what happens when you don’t stand your ground with your beliefs. These people had parents that catered to them and told them they didn’t have toxic behaviors driving their thought process. You’re one of my favorite RUclipsrs Sydney, you have a like from me.
i cant count on my hands the amount of times i met a fat kid as a child. and then quesing right that their parents are probably fat as well. because when the oarent are heavily overweight. they will feed their kids the same diet. and thats always so clear. its very sad to see. they are indirectly killing their kids. most probably not on purpose. but that doesnt make it any better
It's much worse than that. This is part of a deliberate campaign by Marxists to destroy western civilization. They are deliberately promoting harmful behaviors. These people promoting obesity are usually socialists. But if America was socialist they wouldn't put up with it. They'd cut their food or put them in a gulag and have them break rocks.
@SydneyWatson - thanks for this video...I'm so encouraged by you for your generation...that there are folks who actually think rationally! So glad I found your channel.
The more super special labels you can add to your Twitter bio, the better and more virtuous you are as a human. Your Oppression Score is directly proportional to your value to society, after all.
Yes I absolutely *AM* scared of getting morbidly obese and dying early of diabetes, heart disease or a dozen other linked consequences. That makes me proudly 'Fat Phobic by definition. I'd go further to say that if anyone ISN'T fat phobic, then they either want to die early or they're mentally ill. Being 'Fat Phobic' is a good thing.
"Phobia," is irrational fear. There is nothing irrational about what you said. Don't let the crazies continue to define normal, healthy lifestyles as mental disorders.
I watched my grandmother die a slow and painful death because she didn't care for herself. It affected our entire family mentally and physically watching her decline and caring for her at the end of her life. She died when she was 70. She could have had so much life left to live. Seeing people promote obesity infuriates me. They're encouraging young people to throw their lives away. It's so sad.
You know what makes it somehow worse? That once these people begin having serious health problems, they will hide it from their audience. If one day they do decide to lose weight, they'll probably just disappear from their platform. Because they're not doing this because they care about others, they only care about themselves (and they'll admit that!)
I had a grandmother that I seldom talk about who killed herself slowly and politely with a devout regimen of cigarettes by the carton and Jack Daniels by the case. After she died, my mother told about how her bedroom closet and drawers were full of Jack Daniels empties.
Same- my dad battled his health and weight his whole life- at 80 he couldn’t walk without a walker and could barely get around and had to take a minimum of 10 pills a day- i saw that and vowed i would have a better quality of life - its never too late- i joined a gym during the pandemic and 2 1/2 yrs later i’m fit and healthy and in the best shape of my life at 49 then i ever was at 25
I read the book Health at Every Size last year, and I actually found it to be interesting and nuanced---with totally different conclusions than the body positivity movement has drawn from it. I'm willing to bet a lot of people didn't actually read the book---they just saw the title and ran with it. My takeaways were that not everyone can be super thin, and that people who (especially in older age, after children, etc.) gain some weight can have better health markers by eating well, staying active, and incorporating other healthy habits, even if their weight doesn't change that much. Often, they can be in better health than people who are naturally thin but have poor health habits, or people who lose weight rapidly by dangerous crash diets and other methods like that. That was where the "every size" came in, plus that the BMI index isn't always perfect. However, if I remember correctly, the author stated several times that these health benefits no longer apply once a person reaches MORBID obesity. I think people are just hearing what they want to hear, without really taking away the good advice that was offered for staying healthy.
I've maintained an exercise program for over 3 decades because it's my most powerful defense against severe depression. Seeing some of the people in this video bad mouth exercise because of their own insecurities while pretending that there aren't health issues associated with obesity is sad. On a more positive note, when I see obese people at the gym, it brings a smile to my face. Its easy to be buff and go to a public gym but it takes real grit to walk into a gym when you're not. Im rooting for you and if there is someone looking down at someone trying to better themselves, that person is a POS.
I needed to here that. After covid near death, which causes a variety of seemingly permanent mental and physical issuses.... Ive got to start regular exercise. It also damaged my heart, waiting on an ok from cardio doc. Ive been an intensly physical mountain dweller all of my life. This is a tough time.
As an RN who has hurt her back more than once moving a heavy patient (with help) I must say that being overweight affects more than just the big person. Not just practitioners either. I just watched a baby struggle to breath because the it took the doctor longer to do a c-section because she had to cut through 6 inches of fat.
Wow! Why do doctors put the fat pad back post cesarean? I saw one cut it out. Place it to the side. Then put it back. If it causes health problems, why was it placed back?
@@Shoppinghappens there is a risk of infection, blood loss and poor recovery if they take it out. It’s already a strain on the circulatory system to be pregnant and have a C-section. (Think of the risks of having liposuction on top of having a baby AND surgery.)
I hope you got better with no permanent injuries, having a lot of experience on th side of back pain, I hope and wish it upon you for things to go well. By the way, I'm aware it got something to do with nurses, but what is the exact meaning of RN ? P.S. Thanks for your hard work in such a thankless domain, it's much appreciated. 👍
As a “small to mid fat” person (because we just love labels), This is utterly ridiculous. My extra weight is not healthy or useful. It does not show I love myself or is something to be proud of. It’s okay to love yourself while accepting that there are things you need to change for your health/happiness/longevity. It’s really that simple
@@landor7610 Think about it though, there's a lack of accountability, and also a degree of narcissism in there too. "You're wrong, I'm not wrong." "You hate me because I'm fat, not because I'm an a-hole." sort of logic to the thinking. So they created an echo chamber that makes them feel good, affirms and validates their skewed thinking, just like the food abuse. So the happy brain chemicals are just too good and anything that mucks with that is bad. So they defend it to the death, and if people are start to question it, or think it is wrong, or try to leave, it takes away that validation. It reacts like a cult of its own. The Cult of Fat....
Yeah, I think body positivity started with good intentions. For people who have been bullied about how they look, hating themselves doesn't always lead to positive changes, it can lead to destructive spirals where a person uses unhealthy coping mechanisms like binge eating to deal with their negative emotions. Sometimes starting out with a little positivity can give people the energy they need to get back on the right track. The problem now is the movement has become anti health and anti science. They refuse to admit that it would be beneficial for binge eaters to eat more moderately. Instead of just fighting people who are bullying them, now they go out of their way to target fit people, just minding their own business, and bully them about how being healthy is "fatphobia". The whole thing just completely went off the rails.
*I’ve lost 95 pounds naturally. I just eat in an 8 hour window. I watch the serving size and sodium values on labels. I also stop eating when I’m full. And in February I started walking in my driveway for 5-10 min a day. Now I’m up to 1-2 miles a day in my neighborhood. Many of my health issues are gone. I no longer need blood pressure medicine. Through the supervision of my doctor, I’ve been able to safely go from 11 meds to 4. It just so happens that I can now fit in smaller clothes. I do also look better. For these people to tell me my reasons for weight loss is wrong. I’ve done all of this so I could get healthy and I have.*
There are two extremely fat people at my work. I feel sorry for them because they have to have special chairs as they can't sit in a normal office chair because the break the height adjustment cylinder. Also both of these people have to shelter in place in the stair well during evacuation drills (can't use the elevators) but they are not able to walk down the two flights of stairs to safety. I know this because I'm the floor warden and suppose to be the last person off the floor confirming everyone is out, every single drill I have to report that there are two people sheltering in the stair way. One had to lose 150 pounds to get knee surgery because the surgeon would not do it due to the weight of the person would have just damaged the new knee. The person lost the 150 pounds, got the knee surgery and just put the weight back on and ruined the knee. The other had ankles the size of my thigh and could could barley walk from the elevator to their desk, same for the other person, they can't stand in the bathroom without leaning on a counter or wall - barely fits into the wheel chair stall - can't use the urinal, can't fit between the panels.
Wow, congratulations. Losing weight is not an easy task, especially these days because we have many sources of convenience and almost no time or money to invest if you're not financially well. I'm pretty lean myself but my mom has been working on losing weight, both for a health condition and so she feels better about her appearance. It's pretty hard and it demands discipline, and I try to help and motovate her, and we have been getting results, even if small. Losing weight is no small achievement, and having a healthy lifestyle is something to be proud of. Good on ya, m8
@𝙲𝚑𝚞𝚌𝚔 𝙵𝚒𝚗𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚛 lol…that’s exactly right…I was just walking the outline of it over and over for 5-10 minutes. Now I’ve graduated to 1-2 miles just up and down on my street. I’m walking for 20-40 minutes now and at a fast pace. But it all just started with what I could safely do in my driveway.
@@sparking023 it’s not really hard. It’s just deciding to move. Like I said, I started with just walking my driveway for 5 minutes. Any movement is good. And instead of eating 3 slices of pizza just eat one. Eat what ya want but make choices. It’s a good start. Maybe suggest some of that to your mom.
It’s not easy, but cutting out sweets does make a big difference. I’m a “small” fat person and wear plus size clothes, and am working on losing a few pounds. Having good health is priceless.
Cutting out alcohol really helped me because I would Excessively eat after excessively drinking. Also walking my dog regularly, it’s something i look forward to doing.
Just was about to write about alcohol. I've had "periods" consuming different types of drinks... And while I don't snack, even a skinny person can easily gain kilos drinking sugary cocktails (in my case it was White Russian and coffee liquors in general). I would actually place beer to the "healthier" side, alas it is heavily connected to sofa culture and pub snacks.
As a type 1 diabetic for over 22 years who's struggled with weight "gaining" in the past I get the health struggle aspect but having to force yourself to eat when you feel sick as a dog to boost your blood sugar and then have large people mock you after.....I know it's only been a few through my life but those people havnt given me fat phobia they gave me a hate of all able body wreck less individuals who threat them selfs like shit regardless of survival. Gut health is probably the most important thing for weight loss. Make sure you're getting enough fiber you will have more energy and I have found you can eat more. Or cheat a little on your diet. Good luck on the journey
I lost sixty pounds and this is what happened: My asthma went away Skin issues I had went away I was able to stand up without rocking myself forward I was more comfortable lying down I was able to go up the stairs without getting out of breath I was no longer a fat bastard
Damn! You must really hate yourself now, shame on you! * sarcasm off * Good for you to lose that weight, amazing to see the many health benefits you get after reaching (a more normal/avarage) weight!
Yeah that made me cringe too. Being a formally fat person I can say actually yes most of if not all of her problems would have likely been due to her excess weight.
Does she think, that her health issues come out of thin air? Just poof! and they are there? No Mam! It's all that extra weight you're carrying on your body. It's killing your bones, your connective tissues, your organs, especially your ticker, your arteries, should I go on? In a few years time, when you wake up one day with type II diabetes, and have to have your leg amputated, have no eyesight anymore, and with your heart failing - because your arteries are clogged up like an old drain, then you'll cry. Then you'll say poor me, I'm way too young for all this! But by then the damage will be irreversible. And you had lost all this time, when you could have avoided this. SAD.
I'm a 24 year old guy who used to be 420+ pounds. I never knew that I had an eating disorder and thought that I was way skinnier than I actually was until I saw a photo of myself taken from a bad angle, and I became more self aware, but I still though that it wasn't a huge deal. In 2020 I was hospitalized due to covid and pneumonia, and had to be put on a ventilator and put under for almost a month. During that time I almost kicked the bucket. But I fought. When I woke up I couldn't move anything. My muscles had atrophied and I developed nerve damage. It took 2 months of PT and OT to get to get to the point where I could take care of myself. Even when I was released, simple things like walking to the bathroom or kitchen or playing video games were very difficult. It was hell. If I was healthy, I probably would've been completely fine after a week or so after getting sick, but because I was so overweight, things got complicated. After almost two years of being on the keto diet and walking every day, I've lost over 130 pounds and I'm still losing and have regained most of my abilities. I've also been going to the gym and working out as much as possible to build more muscle. The point of my comment is to be a tale of caution to those people who think that being severely overweight isn't a problem. It is a problem. A HUGE one (pun intended)
Me and my wife went keto about 4 years ago and our health greatly improved. We both lost over 70 lbs and reversed T2 diabetes. My wife also reversed PCOS and gave birth to our 2nd child at age 44. We have more energy in our mid 40’s than we did in our early 30’s(which we need to keep up with our little ones). If I hadn’t lost all this weight I never would’ve have discovered that I had lower back pain (when I was 90 lbs heavier I just hurt all over all the time) and I probably would have died of cancer by now. While some of these people promoting “fat acceptance “ have probably only done so because when they do what the medical and nutritional establishments tell them they have no results or they get extra health problems.
Awesome! It's great to hear you stuck with it! Keto was my way out of the fat suit and I remain on it. What mystifies me is when ppl ask how I did it but say that's impossible when I tell them. Keep it up and I promise your future years will be much easier.
Congratulations on your success! 👍 👏 Radical change often comes after a profound event in our lives. Best wishes on your continued future success and personal growth!
Bravo!! You got this! Thank you for sharing your traumatic time with Covid to let people know they can get healthier! And you are awesome to stand up from your trauma and better yourself. What a way to heal from that time!
If a person is killing themselves with a drug addiction, we are expected to try to help them kick the addiction. If a person is killing themselves with a food addiction, we are expected to enable their addiction.
@@xydoit2024 Anorexia, and having a healthy weight is now fat shaming behavior. Where did you get the idea that I want anyone to kill themselves with an addiction, or eating disorder?
I used to be one of those girls who just assumed I'd be fat forever and would have to deal with it. I spent years hiding from the reality that I put myself in the position of being obese. In the last couple years I've lost 115lbs through clean eating, motivation, and willpower. I'll be the first to say that I feel like a completely different person and I was so clearly unhealthy at my heaviest. It's insane to try to spin the idea of people wanting to get their health back on track as oppressive and "fatphobic".
I’m fat and I’m glad videos like this exist. It is not normal to be this heavy and I understand the very grave health implications of being fat and am losing the weight and working on changing things. I’ve lost 25 lbs so far. I’ve noticed a lot since then. My knees don’t hurt anymore (they used to hurt every day); I feel much more motivated to get things done…I just feel way better and more on track than I did before I started. I’m so happy I did. These people are in denial and the denial knows no bounds. That’s why they have the underground community they have. I’m sorry but when you can’t sit in a booth at a restaurant because you don’t fit, or when you can’t walk more than a few minutes without getting out of breath, SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE. This is your body screaming at you to do something about it. They can think what they want but once age catches up to them, the medical conditions will too. Of course they will be told to lose weight and will refuse because the doctor is “fatphobic.” Glamourizing being fat needs to stop. We are teaching the future it’s OK to have no self control, which extends way past bodily appearance.
Unfortunately mainstream media and social media platforms promote this garbage Fat Liberation ideology. This is what's fueling all of this and why obesity is such an issue within many Western countries right now.
Are you doing keto. Worked for me! 100 lbs in 10 months. I know it's easier for men to lose weight but it still works for women too. Congratulations and good luck.
Appreciate your courage for speaking out against a community of enablers. I've quit some hard things in my life. I've watched my fiance lose almost 80.lbs and go from pretty unhealthy to someone who hates missing more than a day working out. It's about lifestyle change. Diets don't work. But changing your lifestyle will. Though it is not easy.
Just wait until your legs get smaller. When I lost a bunch or weight and was layed down on the bed and put my legs up, they looked like actual legs instead of sausages. I could actually see the muscle for once and my thighs were not touching. I gained a lot back, but I'm gonna get back to not fat legs again soon.
I was obese as a 6'3" 320 lb. man even though I went to the gym 4-5 days a week and was very strong. I decided to do something about my excess fat because I want to have a healthier future, not die early or have a poor quality of life, and pass on good genes to my children. I've lost about 25 lbs. so far and plan to lose about 40 more. If they say I'm fatphobic, I don't really care. I just don't.
OMG You found a diet that changed your genes??? You simply MUST give it to me, cause I always wanted to have cat ears. Then again it apparently didn't do anything about your gene of stupidity, so how good can it really be?
I think it's about time we have a conversation about what "phobic" actually means. Phobia is an irrational fear that you can't control. No one is irrationally afraid of fat people, trans people, gay people, etc, etc... To not agree with someone regardless if you are fat, trans, gay, or other is not an irrational fear response. It is just a disagreement, it really ain't deeper than that. Just because some people are thin, eat healthy , and do work out is not equal to they are irrationally afraid of fat people. They just care about their OWN health...
You underestimate the ability of some people to react extremely and irrationally to gay people. But yeah, it's mostly not the case. Especially for the obese people.
My uncle died at 36. Morbidly obese, unable to do normal things, his heart failed at an age when nobody should be worried about that. I've always carried the image of him with me; pinned to his chair, almost unable to move, never even putting on shoes anymore. It was terrifying to see as a child. I simply can't believe that as a society we're at the point where we are going to promote unlimited weight, knowing full well that it will kill you. You can call it whatever you want, but it means an early death.
Suicide is generally agreed to be a horrible thing that must be discouraged, but so many things that people promote are just a slower form of suicide. I am so sorry that happened to someone you loved. At least you, and those closest to you, are unlikely to fall victim to this dangerous modern trend
I’m so sorry for your loss. My father lost someone close to him because of complications due to obesity as well (he was on his journey to try and get healthy too). It’s very serious and so sad.
I was diagnosed obese four plus years ago. I was also diagnosed pre-diabetic. If my blood work revealed the same result again. I was heeded for diabetes meds. I didn't set out to get in shape or lose weight. But my spouse had a few suggestions. And loves to cook. Refined sugars were removed from my diet. Takeout food was limited to once a week. All other meals were prepared from scratch at home. And they were delicious. I ended up losing just a few pounds after three weeks or so and kind of shrugged it off. After three years I had lost about 45 pounds. Now four plus years later I have lost a total of 63 pounds. And remain stable. I became athletic and began cycling. Now I routinely walk 12 to 36 blocks in the city. Every day. I will never advise anyone to do what I did. All I can say is that I am not tired. And we go out dancing and it's fun to be active. I guess I had forgotten those things. See a Physician if you want any advice. Don't follow my example because I didn't have a clue what I was doing.
i found out your video by chance, as a fat person at the point of being morbidly obese for the past 20 years i can safely say that trying to lose weight is an ongoing struggle that requires sacrifices. Time to exercise, food that you enjoy that is usually unhealthy, alcohol etc. It is way and insanely easier to get to the streets and shout "Accept us for who we are" rather than improving your health. I agree with everything you said on your video.
"trying to lose weight is an ongoing struggle that requires sacrifices" - I think at least 50% of it is mental. I have a close relative who is approaching morbid size and 45+. She denies ever eating extra food or large portions for meals. During a holiday I stayed with her at her home for 3 weeks and watched her - due to the different timezones and unfamiliar surrounds I was awake and sleeping at odd hours. I couldn't observe her at work of course, but at home for breakfast and dinner yes the portions in the meals were no larger than mine and mostly smaller. HOWEVER I started noticing her sneaking to the kitchen often, taking snacks to her room. It culminated at night (and very often), when at times like 2am or 4am I could hear her in the kitchen and opening the fridge (which makes a unique sound) on a regular basis. THEN she started to introduce me to her hobby of baking in after the 1st week. The amount of sugar she poured in a bowl mix for a small cake I will never wipe for my memory. She baked only for herself (though she insisted she 'gave' cakes away). I wrote down all these observations and tried - twice - to bring it up to her nicely, in an obtuse and not obvious way. At the end of my holiday I tried to bring it up again. ALL of these attempts resulted in denials, tears, crying, emotional outbursts and shouting - any tips are welcome.
Due to having PCOS and a sleep disorder, I've gained about 100 pounds in a little over a year(Mind you, I'm only 4'11, so 100 pounds is A LOT for me). In the past 6 months I've been working on losing weight and have made some progress!! Much to the discouragement and dismay of the fat acceptance people. These people try to say that being obese is fine and doesn't effect them, but I don't see how they can lie. I couldn't tie my shoes, I couldn't walk from my car into my job without being winded out and needing to sit down, I could barely do 2 minutes of light cardio at the gym. I had one sleep disorder as is (nocturnal panic attacks), but because of my weight gain, I developed sleep apnea. I also need to be tested for diabetes because after gaining the weight I have, I started showing symptoms of insulin resistance. I feel like crap ALL the time. Even after making some progress (weight loss, more endurance with cardio and weights), I still am miserable often because my body doesn't FEEL good. These people disgust me, and all this coming from someone obese. They don't care about health. They only want people to be miserable while denying that they themselves are miserable.
Did your doctor tell you what causes pcos and weight gain? Diabetes isn't caused by weight gain. All of the above is caused by chronically high insulin. Have you changed your diet as well? Exercise is healthy, but it won't make you lose a lot of weight
@@seesharp81321 the weight gain was due to the PCOS, and PCOS can cause insulin resistance which leads to diabetes. My diet was always pretty healthy, I actually despise sugary foods and sweets and love vegetables. I usually cook instead of eat out whenever I can, which is most days. But when my pcos symptoms started, I began to eat one meal a day which my doctor said slowed my metabolism. I straight up had no appetite and kept gaining weight, vs when I would eat 3 meals a day and was at a healthy weight.
Coming from someone else with PCOS, THANK YOU. Even though I'm not obese, I'm still in the "overweight" bmi range. I could just blame my weight on the pcos, but that wouldn't help me accomplish any of my health goals. So I do lots of walking and try to stick to a reasonable diet. Some of us actually work to stay at what these fat-natics call "straight weight" because we know that we've got an endocrine problem that will ruin our lives if we let it. PS: Have you heard of/tried Ovasitol? It's a powder supplement that can help with insulin resistance and infertility. Just thought I'd bring it up, as I used it a couple years ago and got good results.
@@seesharp81321 If I may add from my experience, pain caused by PCOS and complications from the cysts themselves can make exercise painful, difficult or even dangerous. These can vary in the individual suffering and the individual cysts they're suffering with, but overall it can make it hard for someone to do what is needed to maintain a healthy weight or lifestyle.
I am praying for the best for you! I'm only 1in taller than you and I've had PCOS, so I can barely imagine the struggle! I wish you the best of luck in getting in a better relationship with your body. Getting within a proper BMI won't get rid of all the PCOS problems, but it will certainly help and help your doctors take any concerns seriously and reduce any complications cysts may cause. The fat acceptance group sicken me too. I don't think they would spew their nonsense if they went through something like this and knew what that suffering is like.
I was overweight as a teenager and it made me utterly miserable, so I decided to do something about it. It took a lot of time and effort to get the weight off. Being 'fatphobic' is what's motivated me to maintain a healthy weight and to look after my body properly - so far this has served me well!
I know that these fruitcakes don't even know we exist, but it frustrates me that every body positive nutcase thinks that losing weight is because we don't want to be ridiculed. None of them ever consider that MAYBE we're doing it because we don't want to see flabs of fat every time we look in the mirror, or sit on a toilet.
Thank you! I'm so glad people are speaking up about this. As a licensed massage therapist and nutritional enthusiast, I find the acceptance of obesity appalling. Also, if obese people continue to allow to be lead by the governmental fabrications of social media and the WOKE, they'll likely never become aware of the real traumas that need to be dealt with and healed.
Ive never cared to impressive people with my looks. The main reason i try to stay in shape is just the mobility aspect of it. In my 40s even crouching down isnt easy anymore and i see the struggles of some rather large people at work who are exhausted and out of breath just walking into work. they give me inspiration to not end up like that.
My own wife who thought i was calling her fat for the better part of our relationship, got her reality check when she finally went to the doctor and was told directly by the doctor who was a woman, that based on her blood test results and current state of health, she would need to begin a health regiment sooner rather than later. For two days she sat there and let it sink in. I was shocked as hell when she came to me and said " im sorry for thinking you were calling me fat, I just didnt think it was going to be an actually issue later down the road. As God is my witness this is what happened. No one should be fat shaming anyone. But living your life like this as if it will not have any health implications in life whether female or male is absolutely absurd.
Doctor: “You have cancer, it’s serious and you’ll die very soon!” Them: “Nah, I’m perfectly healthy. You are just cancerphobic!” Same argument. Yes I am comparing obesity to cancer, because both can be fatal and both can affect each other.
@@Im40ImAMan Unless that choice is unnhealthy for them and society as a whole, which it is. In that case, the truth needs to be told. For the same reason, we discourage alcoholism, illegal drug use, and even smoking. Why should obesity be any different? People deserve freedom to make certain choices, nevertheless, it should never be that they are ensured some sort of right to feel equally good about every choice regardless of consequences and reality.
@@scottsummers2057I was just being sarcastic. Typically the issue is judging and having negativity to things one is not able to directly control. Now the standard is just don't make people feel bad under any circumstance, even if you're just stating a fact.

I stayed calm because we're strangers to each other so she couldnt know. I said:"Im not overweight, I have bad knees due to injuries and a medical lung condition". She went ballistic, cursing and what not. Saying I called her fat. It got so bad that the mod had to mute her for a couple days. I dont understand these people....
I hope she gets banned who is that insecure that you thought someone was the same as you and then get mad when they say they wasn't and in their victim hood mindset they thought you called them fat
I really wish people understood what a phobia was and stopped using it to describe everything someone doesn't like. They use it to stigmatize people and to push their ideals.
Last time I looked at a dictionary, wasn't a phobia an irrational fear of something? Don't know if I walk into a Walmart and see a big person, I get a sudden urge to run as the boss music kicks on and a health bar appears in the lower field of my vision. I just don't want to end up not being able to walk. Broke my ankle and was unable to walk for a few months unassisted, that was a really hard time for me after walking all my life, and didn't realize how much I value it until it was gone. (Temporarily, thank goodness.)
Let them bask in their insanity. Next time someone says I'm fatphobic, I'm just gonna say, "yeah so what?" And see how they react. Those names and labels are only as good and effective as much as you will let them be. I'm not going to play along with crimes they've made up in their head. I certainly shouldn't feel compelled to explain myself to some made up concept. I do care about how people see me. I do want to be attractive to the opposite sex. And I don't think being fat will get me there. So yeah, call me whatever you think I am, it means nothing to me.
When I was a teenager in the 60's, I don't remember seeing any obese people. There was always a kid or two who were a little chubby in most classes, but nothing even close to being obese.
Don't worry. Some people are just slowly killing themselves. It's natural selection. Maybe when it'll reach unbearable levels of stupidity the US society will change but that's unlikely
Honestly what is interestin is to see these grossly obese people on dating site, but then they are seeking a partner that is fit and muscular....but if a dude or woman says to them "I like someone like myself, that is active and in shape." they scream "FATPHOBE!!"
their logic about weight loss being fatphobic is most toxic sh*t i swear... I am 191 Cm, weight 88 Kg, and my BMI is 24.1 (25+ is overweight) I still need to lose 8 Kg-Why? Because i was born with Heart Defect-so either i have to lose weight and fit between 78-84 Kg to not burden my already-overworked heart due to my Height, or go and pay for operation to fix it. It less economically stressful to just work out and try to be "fit"-i do it because i don't want my heart to suddenly give up-i value my life-that i want to spend beside my soon-to-be fiance. Being blasted because "Intentional weight loss is fat phobic you jerk" is cruel carricature of acceptance-how the f can not this "activist" see it?

It makes my heart sing to hear these words. I have phobia for spiders and hearing people talking about (insert)phobia makes me crazy. I have yet to come across a person who has a phobic reaction to fat.
Start throwing around the term "istaphobia" when dealing with the ad hominem attacks of these left wing activist sorts, and "grievance studies" when referring to the academic pseudo-disciplines that act as their framework. Their tendency to accuse everyone who challenges their narratives of being every -ist and -phobe in the book is ridiculous and is just a means to intimidate and shame critics while lazily dismissing their criticism, and nobody should take anything that they have to say seriously on any politicized topic.
HEhe. I mean, if true, then good job, chrystal! *** my 2c though: i wonder if calling it anything like "being against fatness" isn't a "misnomer". it seems to me that 'fat-phobic' is just people who don't want to be ugly [or see ugliness]. That's the King Kong in the room that nobody wants to acknowledge (but i will)! Health is attractive, un-health is not. There are more nuances and a lot more that could be said on the subject(s), but i'm sure i've already said enough for now.
if i lost 20 pounds, id be medically underweight. the only diet that'd do anything to my weight would be an eating disorder lol and if i did seriously exercise, id probably just gain weight through muscle mass. some people are just built different i guess

@@kenpanderzThere are plenty of ways to exercise in order to quickly burn fat without building up muscle masses. If you become underweight when losing 20 pounds then you must be well within the lower end of the normal weight range any way without a need for a diet.
Several years ago I was bopped in the head by the reality of this. At the time I was an amateur competitive bodybuilder, a month or so out from the competition I was planning on entering, so needless to say I was in pretty awesome shape. I was at the store & encountered a groups of younger people, 3 of whom were rather obese. I was ridiculed, teased, and made fun of by this group! I realized then that society would rather we all look the same, unhealthy as possible, so that everyone is at the same level (and that level is very, very low). Society shames individual excellence & cheers mediocrity & slovenliness, it has down this for a couple decades now & the result is what you see- a nation of unhealthy, hive-mind bottom-dwellers who would like nothing better than for everyone to be sick & unhappy, just like they are.
As a 5'6" 230 lb person, being fat or obese isn't healthy. You don't have to be a size 0 by any means, but I'm trying to loose weight so I don't get diabetes, die early, develop mobility issues, etc. I'd actually like to live to old age without dying of heart disease
It’s so bizarre to criticize and call someone who is exercising to lose weight “fatphobic.” But these are also the same people who will call you “transphobic” for not wanting to date a “trans person.” I feel like they’re all self-hating narcissists who need everyone around them to be just as miserable as they are to feel validated.
It’s about time that the common-sense people put their big boy pants on, and admit that we don’t have to like alphabet people, fat people or strawberry ice cream.
I'm not sure that they're all narcissists. Many of the ones making these videos, certainly yes; however, they're influencing a large swathe of insecure, lonely, possibly abused ppl, who are in desperate need of proper care & NOT someone to be their co-dependent assistant to an early death from diabetes or heart disease (or maybe even a self-inflicted injury). Since WHEN has Hollywood or our "EIite CIass" ever begun any trend that was either attainable to the average American OR more importantly, HEALTHY for us? Let's not forget that they're the ones who have pushed such things as Drag Kids, designer drugs, grunge rock (w/Kurt Cobain), full arm sleeve tattoos & who cares if the needles give you hepatitis, unprotected sex in the 80's & never-mind about AIDS, anorexic bodies in the... well, on & off forever. Now THIS. They never stop. We're simply one big psychology experiment to them. They don't do any of these things themselves. They *_PRETEND_* to, but they're actors & politicians, remember? They get paid to Iie for a living. If someone you know is suffering with this, PLEASE help them. Encourage them to go walking WITH you. Take them out once a day. Soon, their attitude will change. They'll begin to feel better & start eating more healthfully. NO ONE who is more than 30lbs overweight feels good OR feels good about themselves. At 50-100lbs overweight, ppl are chronically depressed & are in denial about it. If you TRULY care about the person, DO NOT give up on them. They've already given up on themselves. Show up EVERY DAY to walk.
I remember meeting this guy that was a friend of friend and, well he was morbidly fat, looked like a sphere kind of fat. When I met him again a couple of months later he had successfully thinned out to barely being overweight at all. That must have taken some discipline!
I'm so happy to find so many different youtubers speaking out about this. I am a former ER nurse. Let me tell you, apart from Friday and Saturday nights when we got the slew of drunks through the door... it was pretty much mostly people who had either smoked or eaten themselves there. Call me fatphobic all you like, I'll continue to try my all to make sure neither me nor my kids end up like that.
@@lilyschrodingy3600 I've heard that they don't like junkies... Caring for the morbidly obese would probably be much more difficult. They probably need a reinforced bed and a way to remove you in and out of it. Googled "Do Obese Patients Get Worse Care?" I’m American and my girlfriend is German so I split my time between the two. It wasn’t until I spent lots of time in Germany did I realize how fat Americans really were. I always knew we had an obesity problem in the states (I’ve been to Disney World 😐) but seeing almost no obese people across an entire country definitely opened my eyes
Had a similar experience when I visited the Netherlands. I’m from the UK we have a high obesity rate too similarly to the States. I didn’t see any obese people and if I saw a fat person it was a tourist while I was in the Netherlands 😂
US has an obesity rate of 36% while Gemany has an obesity rate of 24% Of course US has a higher obesity rate rate but Gemany has a lot of fat people too.
The problem is that we Americans are what I like to call "sloppy fat". You can tell the difference between a heavy person that's active and a heavy person that's not by the way fat arranges itself on the body. Then there's also a difference in appearance between someone that got big from food, and one that got there from junk.
I'm a 6'4" man at 276 pounds, down from a high of 330. I won't stop dieting until I'm 230. Fat acceptance is maybe the biggest reason I decided to lose weight. I saw the monster I could become and didn't care for it, eventually we all need to grow up and take responsibility for ourselves.
I used to be slightly overweight, I used to have drug problems, I used to smoke ciggies and was told it was super unattractive, so I asked someone why they see it like that I was hit with the answer of. "It shows you have no self-control, it shows you don't care about yourself so why would anybody want to look after you after you mess up your own life?" That stuck with me and now I always do these mental calculations of did I do anything to deserve a treat today? not cutting it out completely but having the self-control to say not right now. If somebody with that lack of self-control slips down another path like hard drugs and they couldn't even refuse chocolate... Well that's game over Self-control and dedication are 2 of the most underrated qualities that seem to be pushed off the edge of a cliff in this day and age. The worst part is Obesity is 1 of the few problems you can literally run away from.
I had a fat friend at my engineering course. We walked to my house to hang out, what usually took me 20 minutes, having 2 cigarettes on the walk, took over 40 minutes, and he sounded like a 60 year old smoker, wheezing and mouth-breathing. That was the moment I knew I would NEVER be overweight.
I needed to lose about 100 pounds. I’m down 60…and I’m going to keep going. I feel much happier and healthier now. Being obese is not cool and fat-acceptance is NOT okay. I can talk about this (using their logic) because I am obese.
I want to lose weight so that my feet do not hurt, so I can climb stairs, move, go up mountains, my body doesn't hurt, my pants fit, I do look better, things like that. Also, health.
While in HS a friend of my partner’s son was overweight. My girlfriend convinced him to forego soda. He did. The pounds peeled off. Soda is a once in a while treat, like candy bars, not a daily beverage.
HAES is the bane of my existence. I've been fat most of my life and I'm so glad I never fallen into the hellscape that is body positivity. Lost 50lbs and still losing all because one day I realized how uncomfortable being a sad sack of fat made me as I got older.
I find that some levels of bulling is good. We shouldn't bully anyone untill the end of the earth but enough that they become uncomfortable with things they can (and should) fix.
@@albinlindh4000 I was bullied in elementary and middle school for it but that just made me grow a thicker skin(pun intended) eventually my obesity didn't mean anything to me, I'd even joke about it and then it started turning into a physical problem.
@@albinlindh4000 I can tell your heart is in the right place, but I dont think intentionally making life harder for someone is the right solution. I have been fat for my entire life, and my mother would bully me relentlessly about my weight by berating me in front of other people, denying me food, and making me weigh myself daily while she watched. Later she admitted to me that she was making me feel bad about myself on purpose to make me motivated to lose weight because "it must not hurt enough to change". I think what people need is some positive encouragement and a reminder that things can be better and how great it will feel both physically and mentally to be healthy. I'm still on my journey to be healthy, but what keeps me going is the idea that a better life is possible for me, not that I am incapable and hopeless.
Exactly it’s frightening. They find a group that supports their insecurities and mental illness to the point of celebrating it that they don’t want to seek treatment or acknowledge they even have a problem.
What really bothers me is how so many online celebrities/influencers, etc can have a large fanbase when they struggle with mental health issues in their videos and photos. Many of these people are so called "lolcows", who somehow have a large fanbase of loyal followers. Though there's also detractors who keep an eye on these kinds of people to mock them since sometimes it's fun to watch why their life choices and excuses is the way it is and often times is kind of an interesting case study in mental health.
I'm not sure if the rates are increasing or if the exposure just makes it seem like it happens more often. People have rose coloured glasses when they look at people in the past. We are by far the more civilized society than the north america of the 50s.
I’m 5’3” and at my heaviest I weighed almost 200 lbs. Appearance aside, I had times where I felt so much pressure on my chest I legitimately thought I was going to die. Being asthmatic, the extra weight made it hard to climb up stairs to get to our apartment on the 3rd floor. I WAS ONLY 18! I cleaned up my eating, joined a core workout once a week and managed to get down to a “healthy BMI”. It wasn’t until I started losing the weight that I realized how unhealthy I was and how restrictive it was in my lifestyle. Some of these people really don’t know what “healthy” or “normal” should feel like, that’s the only way I can understand how insistent they are that “fat is healthy”. There’s no way they’re happy regardless, because happy and content people wouldn’t feel the need to go onto TikTok and spew garbage about others being fatphobic.
I gained a lot after my second child and at 5'3 I was also close to 200. I also had to look in the mirror and realize I was 30+ already and about to be in that "risk" category soon. I started intermittent fasting, kept an eye on my intake, and noticed results in 3 weeks. My entire system functions better. Its amazing. Congrats on your weight loss as well. Not to feel "pretty" but to get healthy! 😊
Oh yes, my wife who’s hormones went crazy after birth and contraceptives has enjoyed the extra 40-50 pounds that makes her huff and puff after climbing one flight of stairs. Yeah, she wants to lose weight because she feels like crap. Luckily we’ve switched doctors and finally found one that actually wants to help get her body figured out. Over the last month or two she’s had a reduced appetite and has started to have energy again and it has been fantastic. She loves the fact that she can be on her feet for more than half the day every day and not being wiped out by how much her feet and back hurt. But ya know, apparently, my wife is so fat-phobic. I think the fact that she also wants to do it to look better just gives her more motivation to do what she can to take control of her life.

I've lost 27 lbs in the past year, and heck yeah I did it to feel better, to feel beautiful again (I used to be thin and gained weight due to a traumatic life situation), to wear clothes I've missed again, and to be healthier. Nothing wrong with that. I'm proud of myself and I feel sexy again.
And it just feels better. I lost 40 pounds and its amazing the difference in looks, health and everything else. And since reaching a weight plateau its annoying. Good work and yeah these are failures wanting to rationalize their failures.
Society has taken accepting your flaws to a whole new level. There's owning who you are, and then there's simply ignoring flaws that you can improve through hard work. What all of this really boils down to is evading responsibility.
ive always been fat but a year ago when i started having issues bending down to tie my shoes was when i said i have to do something about this, stopped drinking regular cola all the time and changed what i eat a bit and ive lost 16kg so far while building a bit of muscle with dumbbells at home.i have a long way to go but im doing it slowly so that i wont yoyo. im still very overweight but have no more trouble tying my shoes so progress has been made.
This is one of those movements that starts with a good intention and then somewhere along the way it trips and falls down the hill and then turns into a monster. I am fat and while I don't hate myself and I have accepted that "I am fat", it doesn't mean that I can remain fat for the rest of my life. There's a lot of things I like doing and I see how being fat is hindering those things. If wanting to improve my life is fatphobic, then sure I am fatphobic and I'm okay with that. Also I want to say that being fat has never affected my salary at all. Every one of my employers in the USA has hired me and paid me for my work ethic and skills.
It’s just really shocking looking back at how so many movements went from “Accept yourself for who you are” to “Accept me no matter who I am”. Thought control will never be okay friends. Don’t ever let it slide. Free speech is free thought you can’t have one without the other. Edit: spelling corrections 🤫

What truly angers me is that FAT people start saying other FAT people that loose weight are fat phobic. These people are extremist and lost the plot completely. Having family members with morbid obesity I understand you want to feel accepted as a human being, and be seen for more than your size. However we talk frankly about the weight issues and what health risks it brings. One of the things that we try to achieve is more walking and biking where possible. While eating more healthily. I don’t care how they look but I do care how healthy they are, because I want to have them around as long as possible. These FAT extremist are dangerous and should shut up and understand that being overweight is a CHOICE in almost 99 percent of cases. You CAN do something about it, even if it is hard. Years later she was hospitalised and told she needed to lose weight. She started going to the gym and lost the weight, said she had more energy, her period was regular and felt better overall.

Small humble brag you made it to 70 being fat though lol
These days simply speaking the truth is an act of courage.
Thank you. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
70 ? Your lucky you put your feet on the ground out of bed this morning . .
Omg, fast walking land blimp! That is hilarious! Congrats on loosing weight and becoming healthier
I HAD to lose weight or I would die."_
And nobody can prove this was due to your weight. This is anti-fat bias. Medical Mafia did nothing for you while they should have and terat you like anyone underweight and the right weight. All 3 can have any number of causes.

Am I understanding you correctly that you are disagreeing with that quote???
I doubt I can re-train myself to find something unattractive attractive no matter how often you tell me something is attractive. Not sure that is how attraction works.
You know the most depressing thing, "healthy at every size" was not originally an excuse to be fat. It started out as a motivating phrase. It was like, you can become healthy at every size. That your current size isn't a deterrent, you can be six hundred pounds and you should still try.
@Riven326 fat people produce excessive emissions tho
@Riven326 this!
@Riven326 And you're free to have your opinion. Personally, I agree with the original sentiment. No matter how much of a fat-fuck, obeast, ham-planet you are, you can and should still take the steps to get you right. Even just baby steps. Inch towards daylight.
@Riven326 With what you need to eat to get to 600lbs I doubt very much you'd be "emission" free. lol
Good for you! Congratulations, and well done!
Making that kind of lifestyle change as a child is very impressive!
Good for you. If you were an obese child, it's tougher to lose weight as you get older.
Congratulations your achievements!
Not many people have the mental fortitude to go all out on health, especially children, but the results are definitely worth it in the long run
The older you are, the more difficult it is
I've told all my kids, one son and FOUR daughters, to be strong physically, mentally, and spiritually. If you can harness the power of these three categories, you've got a better shot an having a successful and happy life. Fat women who blame others for their weight and expect the world to bend to their needs are lacking in each category.
Fat women who blame others for their weight and expect the world to bend... sometimes it will
Nobody made fat people eat, they ate food themselves.
The space-time continuum bends to their mass.
It's a shame that people choose not to do anything about problems like this in a world that we have one shot to be the best version of ourselves

And then one day a Fairy suddenly appeared, which was slender & beautiful and... yeah a Fairy - duh. :D
She looked at this miserable SJW Woman and said

Hearing those words the wheezing, seething SJW clenched her massive fists and grinded her teeth, unable to say anything back.
The Fairy smiled and extended her hand.
_" I can safe you! Do you want to lose all that outer but foremost inner weight that pulls you down and be happy again? "_
On that note the SJW answered. _" WHY WOULD I YOU DAMN FAIRY [insert battle-terms dripping with sadness & rabies]. "_
The Fairy laughed. _" I have heard your heart cry out. You have suffered enough. I will fulfill your wish. Simsala bim, fat begone! "_
And then the cringe of an existence was no more and before the Fairy sat a good looking slender Woman with _"fairly"_ generously sized boobs. ;)
The SJW was gasping from astonishment.
A warm smile spread over the Fairys face once more as she looked at the Womans open website.
Some woundlicker SJW social platform and the comments of several users on the last side said.

The Fairy shook her head with a grin.
_" Remember you still have to take selfresponsibility. You will be fat again if you don't trade this tr@sh of a website for research about... better food choices for example. "_
The Woman was speechless - unable to say anything back.
_" So~ do you want to live now or do you still want to go back to all of this instead? "_
... the Fairy said as she pointed with her magical wand at the website of misery and hatred.
Finally the Woman laughed as her whole expression broke free of her many, many former years.
*_" Naaaaaaaah. It's time to party! "_*
And soon she was only found at the beach, surrounded by steaming hot sexy Men who go the gymn 8 hours a day, have almost no fat on them, abs for days and she enjoys her life with those f°ckbuddies! XD

the tl;dr is there's more to health than weight.

Keep it going.

"Phobia," is irrational fear. There is nothing irrational about what you said. Don't let the crazies continue to define normal, healthy lifestyles as mental disorders.
Agreed!!
Same- my dad battled his health and weight his whole life- at 80 he couldn’t walk without a walker and could barely get around and had to take a minimum of 10 pills a day- i saw that and vowed i would have a better quality of life - its never too late- i joined a gym during the pandemic and 2 1/2 yrs later i’m fit and healthy and in the best shape of my life at 49 then i ever was at 25
My mom died at 43, she was morbidly obese my entire life... her body eventually couldn't take it.
Completely agree.
Never trust a man who looks like a ventriloquist's dummy.
Very useful comment, thank you!
I've maintained an exercise program for over 3 decades because it's my most powerful defense against severe depression. Seeing some of the people in this video bad mouth exercise because of their own insecurities while pretending that there aren't health issues associated with obesity is sad. Im rooting for you and if there is someone looking down at someone trying to better themselves, that person is a POS.

Not just practitioners either. I just watched a baby struggle to breath because the it took the doctor longer to do a c-section because she had to cut through 6 inches of fat.

I lost sixty pounds and this is what happened:
My asthma went away
Skin issues I had went away
I was able to stand up without rocking myself forward
I was more comfortable lying down
I was able to go up the stairs without getting out of breath
I was no longer a fat bastard
But now you are racist homophobic transphobic white supremacist bigot. Hope you can live with yourself. /s
Damn! You must really hate yourself now, shame on you! * sarcasm off * Good for you to lose that weight, amazing to see the many health benefits you get after reaching (a more normal/avarage) weight!

Does she think, that her health issues come out of thin air? Just poof! and they are there? No Mam! It's all that extra weight you're carrying on your body. It's killing your bones, your connective tissues, your organs, especially your ticker, your arteries, should I go on? I'm a 24 year old guy who used to be 420+ pounds. I never knew that I had an eating disorder and thought that
I was way skinnier than I actually was until I saw a photo of myself taken from a bad angle, and I became more self aware, but I still though that it wasn't a huge deal.
Most don't live past 50 mate so it's great you took control to get your life back to the way you wanted it.
Radical change often comes after a profound event in our lives.
Same with mental health and gender dysphoria. This society is affirming their mental health

You Go Girl! Glad you are in a healthier and happier place now. You did what I haven't been able to yet. But I'll never stop trying!

Motivation and willpower, 2 things I lack :/
Great job. Good on you!
Of course they will be told to lose weight and will refuse because the doctor is “fatphobic.”
Glamourizing being fat needs to stop. We are teaching the future it’s OK to have no self control, which extends way past bodily appearance.
Unfortunately mainstream media and social media platforms promote this garbage Fat Liberation ideology. This is what's fueling all of this and why obesity is such an issue within many Western countries right now.
Well done!
You have gained a random internet stranger’s approval. Feel good, because you are.

It's amazing, congrats! Although I need to specify something: you wouldn't pass any fat genes if you were fat, but just bad food habits
OMG You found a diet that changed your genes??? You simply MUST give it to me, cause I always wanted to have cat ears. Then again it apparently didn't do anything about your gene of stupidity, so how good can it really be?

this video reminded me that i needed to exercise today, so thank you!
Exactly
Some substances are hydrophobic, meaning they repel water.
@@slang1517 this doesn't work with someone who has a gravitational field of their own /j
Thank You that was perfectly said.
As an RN, your comment is 💯 % on point. People lie, but statistics don’t. Obesity results in early demise.

"trying to lose weight is an ongoing struggle that requires sacrifices"
- I think at least 50% of it is mental.
My mother "Fat Shamed" me all the time. Thank God she did or else I would be dead by now!
Doctor: “You have cancer, it’s serious and you’ll die very soon!”
Them: “Nah, I’m perfectly healthy. You are just cancerphobic!”
Same argument. Yes I am comparing obesity to cancer, because both can be fatal and both can affect each other.
LoL. I was thinking the same thing.
Fat causes cancer
Well, one is more of a choice than the other. We shouldn't make people feel bad about their choices, even if it's just giving them the truth.

I really wish people understood what a phobia was and stopped using it to describe everything someone doesn't like. They use it to stigmatize people and to push their ideals.
Exactly.
A-M-E-N. AMEN

I would really have to try to get as fat as most of those people in the video, they must have no self control.
Don't worry. Some people are just slowly killing themselves. It's natural selection. Maybe when it'll reach unbearable levels of stupidity the US society will change but that's unlikely

You are not allowed to not like fat, or you will be censored on RUclips.
Congratulations to your friend!
Major respect for your friend of a friend. It is incredibly difficult and takes strong dedication to it.

Caring for the morbidly obese would probably be much more difficult. They probably need a reinforced bed and a way to remove you in and out of it.

I’m American and my girlfriend is German so I split my time between the two.
US has an obesity rate of 36% while Gemany has an obesity rate of 24%
Of course US has a higher obesity rate rate but Gemany has a lot of fat people too.
@@larrybuchannan186 would you please share your sources with us
The problem is that we Americans are what I like to call "sloppy fat". You can tell the difference between a heavy person that's active and a heavy person that's not by the way fat arranges itself on the body. Then there's also a difference in appearance between someone that got big from food, and one that got there from junk.
@@larrybuchannan186 that's bs
I'm a 6'4" man at 276 pounds, down from a high of 330. I won't stop dieting until I'm 230. Fat acceptance is maybe the biggest reason I decided to lose weight. I saw the monster I could become and didn't care for it, eventually we all need to grow up and take responsibility for ourselves.
And as you probably know, "stopping dieting" is risky, so what you really want to do is transition to a maintenance plan. :)
I despise the word "diet" these days because it implies something temporary. dietary changes should be permanent and sustainable.
@@carnation_cat Yeah, that's definitely good advice. I guess I just meant 230 was my goal.
Love the honesty in your videos don't ever stop being honest
Except the part about established titles promotion. It’s a known scam.
I used to be slightly overweight, I used to have drug problems, I used to smoke ciggies and was told it was super unattractive, so I asked someone why they see it like that I was hit with the answer of. "It shows you have no self-control, it shows you don't care about yourself so why would anybody want to look after you after you mess up your own life?"
That stuck with me and now I always do these mental calculations of did I do anything to deserve a treat today? not cutting it out completely but having the self-control to say not right now.
If somebody with that lack of self-control slips down another path like hard drugs and they couldn't even refuse chocolate... Well that's game over
Self-control and dedication are 2 of the most underrated qualities that seem to be pushed off the edge of a cliff in this day and age.
Being overweight is definitely unhealthy, especially if you are like some of the people in the video, but smoking is not exactly harmless either.
I needed to lose about 100 pounds. I’m down 60…and I’m going to keep going. I feel much happier and healthier now. Being obese is not cool and fat-acceptance is NOT okay. I can talk about this (using their logic) because I am obese.
But soon you will not be obese. Keep up the great work.
Keep going dude
Way to go, dude .. keep it up! 👍 💪 😎
It's all in context. You could drink 1 soda a day, eat all other healthy foods, exercise daily, etc; and still be a very healthy person.
I eat candy bars almost everyday and soda Lol I'm not huge but I'm not as thin as I'd like to be
I 180 pounds in great shape and i drink red bull and soda pops all day every day. But i also work hard and burn the weight off fast.
@@TheDmantheman100 yeah you can be thin and drink that stuff every day. You just can't eat much

HAES is the bane of my existence. I've been fat most of my life and I'm so glad I never fallen into the hellscape that is body positivity. Lost 50lbs and still losing all because one day I realized how uncomfortable being a sad sack of fat made me as I got older.
It’s not worth much but for what it’s worth well done.
@@Grotski Well, on the flip side, I was bullied for being skinny. Joke's on them; I'm overweight now!
We have also seen a seriously insane rise in untreated/ undiagnosed mental health issues in the social media age.
Though there's also detractors who keep an eye on these kinds of people to mock them since sometimes it's fun to watch why their life choices and excuses is the way it is and often times is kind of an interesting case study in mental health.
blame China for it. The pandemic and the TikTok are two of the worst things of all time.
I'm not sure if the rates are increasing or if the exposure just makes it seem like it happens more often. People have rose coloured glasses when they look at people in the past. We are by far the more civilized society than the north america of the 50s.
Most of those are fakes trying to Garnier attention
As someone who was fat, it sucks I’m working my ass off to lose weight, and get stronger. I don’t get why people glorify it.
Don't get these land whales started on BMI! Congrats though on losing weight and working to be healthy
@@qwertyrobbo101 , Why not? BMI is what they SHOULD be looking at.

Society has taken accepting your flaws to a whole new level.
There's owning who you are, and then there's simply ignoring flaws that you can improve through hard work. What all of this really boils down to is evading responsibility.
Pretty much.
An inability to accept any kind of criticism is championed these days - it's sad!
You don't know how lucky you are.
As someone who has lost 25kg in the last ten years all I can say is... DAMN does it feel good being able to breath while tying my own shoelaces!

@metalspider nice work so far, keep it up mate!
Yikes, guess I should stop working out. “Changes into gym clothes”.
Every one of my employers in the USA has hired me and paid me for my work ethic and skills.
this comment said it all!
It’s just really shocking looking back at how so many movements went from “Accept yourself for who you are” to “Accept me no matter who I am”. Thought control will never be okay friends. Don’t ever let it slide. Free speech is free thought you can’t have one without the other.

And it is beneficial for your health to loose weight. SHAME ON THEM for calling out people that try to get rid of weight!
