The thing is, if they understood Star wars, there's an obvious way to fix that scene. The T-47, commonly called snow speeders, has a tow cable for retrieving cargo crates. Leia and Obi-Wan hide in a crate that is wheeled out by Tala, then have the t-47 use its harpoon and tow cable to snag the crate. You could even have Tala give orders to a droid to place the crates at the entrance of the hanger and have her hide in a crate as well. The speeders swoop in and grab the crates in seconds, instead of taking up time laying cover fire and parking for everyone to get on board. Much more believable. Especially considering the T-47 is a two person craft.
This is Disney Star Wars in a nutshell.

What I keep learning from these scrapped story leaks, is that Disney, at every step of the way, stepped on the toes of talented people who actually cared about what fans wanted to see. Corrupting their vision until it was a 'safe' corporate product

Disagree. We already have enough content with all three of those characters. I'm sick and tired of the same old boring generic Skywalker Saga time-line. I wish they'd either pick DIFFERENT characters to write stories about, or go to an entirely different time period and write different stories.
You'd think two animated TV shows, an animated movie, three tv shows, and 11 movies would be enough, but no, they keep making more. Now there's even another Rey movie coming out.

@@TheJoker-gg8hc I think the reason people would rather have more of Vader/ Maul/ Obi-Wan and the like is because they're already established main players in the Skywalker saga and that's safer to explore than shoehorning in half-baked side characters who'll ultimately take a back seat in the over arching story that just feel redundant and fan fiction-y. Bit of a waste of time imho.
However I do partially agree with you. I especially agree with the bit you said about exploring a different era entirely with new fresh characters. Big thumbs up on that one. I've been saying to my IRL buddies for a long time now that I wish they'd either go way into the future to where Palpatine, Vader, and the Skywalkers are nothing more than mere legend in that timeline where people question if they ever truly existed at all OR, conversely, go waaaay back to the past before the idea of a "chosen one" isn't even an idea that could be possible.
The Star Wars universe is so rich with lore that there's no reason to be anchored to this small section of time anymore. Disney would be better off striking out trying something entirely new than to keep taking a bludgeon to an already loved, albeit done to death era
Id pay to see this version of Kenobi. Id pay 250 dollars AND MORE to see Maul, Vader, Cody, Luke, Anakin all in one show or movie. I wish there was a world where we could just write off the kenobi show, and say its not canon and make a NEW kenobi show featuring this. Fumbled a MASSIVE BAG which could have brang in ALL AGES OF AUDIENCES because it had luke, anakin all of those guys.
The worst part is that Ewan was on board for the movie, and liked the concept... and they STILL scrapped it!!!

Take it a step further, Ewan knew of this storyline, and lambasts people for being angry at the crap Disney has been producing.
Disney really went "wow that script sounds awesome, will do none of that".
Wow. It almost feels worse to actually know that Disney had within their grasp a script that was so beyond competent. That honestly sounds like it could've been up there with some of the best Star Wars films, certainly better than anything Disney's produced thus far. The attention to detail in character and narrative, and actual logical development in those areas is unmatched in anything they've produced.

Not having Cody in kenobi was such a big mistake, even more so given his single appearance in bad batch before going AWOL
I feel so bad for Tem. First they wrote Boba terribly in his own show and gave half of the show to Din despite being called “The Book of Boba Fett”, then they ghosted Boba in Season 3 of The Mandalorian and left Tem hanging on the phone, then they ghosted Boba in The Bad Batch when the series is literally centered around his sister, and now this with Kenobi. I already find it somewhat messed up that Dee Bradley Baker voices so many of the clones while Tem/Jango is the clone template. They should make it up to Tem by giving him a gritty and mature Jango Fett animated series to voice in. Tem is one of if not the most passionate Star Wars actors when it comes to his characters. He deserves so much better. Tired of the Fetts being ghosted when they’re basically the OG Mandalorians, the OG Bounty Hunters, and Boba is the OG Clone. Give Tem an animated Jango series, and let him go all out in it. No childish kiddie garbage. Make it gritty, violent, and ruthless. The complete opposite of The Book of Boba Fett.

Seeing the script they had makes me hope, HOPE that they come to their senses one day and let someone knowledeable write them in the future.

This show hurt me more than the sequels ever did. The incompetence from top to bottom is baffling and disgusting. I keep being recommended Andor but I haven’t watched anything since.

My friend, I feel your pain and completely agree but give Andor a shot. Out of all the crap Disney that has been shoved in a true fan's face, Andor is about the best non-force story that I didn't think I'd enjoy. It builds up to explain a side of the Rebellion NONE of us knew about.
The Sequels gutted me, and made me not want to watch anything Star Wars again for about a year. I can't say that about Kenobi, because my hope was already gone.

@@SimplyyKevv Andor is excellent, and IMO, the main reason is this: the people making it showed respect to the material, to the audience, and themselves. That's it, in a nutshell, and it's also what's completely lacking in Kenobi.
What I love is that your reaction to initially hearing Beatties plan to have Kenobi leave tatooine was "Hell no" similar to a majority of people, then when you heard how they would actually implement it, you came around to the idea and that shows how to take a normally unpopular idea like Kenobi leaving Luke and turn that into a good story beat that even people who wouldn't like it can come around to it.
Something that Disney just can't seem to be able to do with any of their projects.
I think the disconnect is they put their typical money-making film formulas they’re well-Practiced in on a universe that wasn’t built on those formulas. Traditional Star Wars is closer to a WB or paramount produced script than Disney if you compare libraries imo. And Disney’s formula is always about converting franchises into other experiences than the film itself, eg, the park and exclusive hotel and experiences, the toys, and other commodities. All studios want to collect on those things, but there’s like an immediate formula applied to Disney projects to get as much value out of an IP as possible.

This demonstrates a rather important point. There is talent at Disney, and they're capable of writing good and compelling stories. Something, or someone, is intentionally stopping them.
Infuriating. They passed up on a good script for Kenobi, a movie fans were actually asking for, because garbage that no one asked asked for bombed at the box office...
Hope that they just take most everything and call it visions and try again when they have a plan that’s been tried and tested.

I was all for retconning the Disney Trilogy, anyway. There’s only a small handful of actually GOOD and COHESIVE stuff that’s come from Disney Star Wars and you can barely count them all on one hand.
But yeah, the incompetence of why we never actually got this.. It’s actually beyond infuriating, to see it be so mis-managed like this!

The domino effect that that Disney trilogy had on SW has to be studied as one of the all time greatest tragedies in history. When SW Theory said he didn't want to listen anymore bc of how much it was pissing him off that Disney didn't go with this script.. I certainly felt that.

It's absolutely insane. I've not watched this video until now, cause I'm apathetic and completely checked out from Star Wars, but just hearing the synopsis of the script being read makes me want to cry. This feels like Star Wars, and it feels like what someone that understands Star Wars would be able to put together that revolves around between-trilogies Obi-Wan. Like Theory said, I haven't heard anything here that makes me pull back or lash out. It seemingly beautifully connects with both the prequel trilogy as well as the Clone Wars. It puts Maul and Vader onto the same playing field. It explains why Obi-Wan remained a hermit in the desert without approaching Luke in the original trilogy. It pulls out a lot of what fans really loved about the prequels and the Clone Wars and connects with the originals while not only avoiding to mess with what's there, it actually makes some things better. To have this at your fingertips and then serve us what we got in the Kenobi series is unforgivable. I have a hard time ranking it in terms of how unforgivable and disappointing it is, but it's up there with getting Mark, Carrie and Harrison on board for the sequel trilogy and not put them in ONE scene together.

There’s a universe where we would’ve had this Obi wan film, Lucas’ sequel trilogy, and the cancelled star wars games. Getting tired of saying this regarding Star Wars but it’s such a damn shame. It’s like what a previous comment said, more “could’ve would’ve should’ve happened”

You are appreciated. It is clear why they keep making content that ignores the many great stories they could have used. Some things that can still be done (in addition to some of the leaked ideas you noted) 1. Obi Wan and QuaiGon Jinn Meditation / Training Segments 2. Cody and Obi Wan banter and adventures - Obi Wan helping the clones looking for purpose - they can come to him on Tatooine and he can help the Clone Underground without leaving Tatooine. 3. Obi Wan and Satine flashbacks as part of what Obi Wan has to deal with during his training with Quai Gon - They could make those flashbacks in animation - there is no law against mixing live action and animation. Let's get creative and make actual Star Wars not this horrible nonsense which is barely concealed activism.

Kenobi was the straw that broke the camel’s back with me. That one hurt. Waited 17 years for that. I’ve still given other projects a fair shake, but after that one I have NO trust in Disney with Star Wars. We’ll never get the Star Wars we want as long as DEI companies own the franchise.
Book of Boba Fett was more of a let down for me. The expectations were so high for what we got.

Cody is just gone, he isn’t mentioned, hinted at and is just not involved at all. Cody, Kenobi’s clone commander of the 212th battalion, the second most important legion, is nowhere to be seen 😐
Leia, who’s 10, outruns mercenaries, full grown adults, hired by a supposedly competent inquisitor, because she slides down and ducks under branches for which the mercenaries can ALSO see, but decide to run into them because ‘bad guy stupid!’
Reva survives not 1, but 2 LIGHTSABER GUT STABS from Darth Vader and just survives because sabers stabs no longer kill. You have to just slice them and THEN they’ll die…

Spy lady reignites the fire to save Obi-Won…literally moments after Vader extinguished the same flame with a force push…did he just, lag out when the fire was ignited again? ‘We WaNtEd A CoOl BaCk ShOt Of VaDeR In FrOnT Of ThE FiRe!’ Congratulations, you made a decent shot with Vader in it…as if there isn’t already cool shots of him 😐
An entire company of stormtroopers crammed up, shooting at rebel goons ‘with shaky cam again because of course’ missing 95% of their shots because, of course.
Vader pulls down the first ship, RIPS the whole side off of it and then proceeds to just stair at the second ship fly off. Again, why does Vader suddenly forget he has the force?
Quick fix for that scene. Vader has the second ship in a hold, but then all the sudden Reva throws her saber at Vader. Vader stumbles, ship flies off, Reva pulls the saber back in her hand and then rushes Vader and THEN Vader completely out-skills Reva. Boom, problem solved!
Reva kidnapped Leia because she found a connection in the archives…so the ISB never bothered to check the archives then? None of the officers on Inquisitorios checked them? 10 years since order 66, and NO ONE decided to check for any possible connections that Obi Wan might have had in the Clone Wars? Okay then…

This has already been pointed out but screw it. Vader has the entire star destroyer chase down 1 person instead of getting on his own ship his TIE-Defender or a literally any of the other small ships aboard and have the star destroyer chase down the rebels? Okay then.

Purge troopers were put in, had black clone armour, custom helmets and were pretty badass looking. Could’ve had them step out with the inquisitors on Tatooine like how in Fallen order Trilla has a squad of them accompany her. And YET, what did they do in Kenobi? They ran through a hallway, walked onto the platform of the fortress and were killed in BOTH scenes they were…great use of costumes…
Speaking of Fallen Order, you mean to tell me, Fortress Inquisitorios, the main base that was ALREADY broken into 5 years before in the SAME WAY CAL DID! And no one decided to implement more security? How about some dark troopers? Squads of Purge troopers (who are trained to FIGHT force sensitives) patrol the hallways regularly? Have those big tall imperial droids (i forgot what they’re called sorry) with at least 5 or 8 stormtroopers patrol the base?
Do we get that? ANY OF THAT?! Nah there’s just a probe droid and like 2 stormtroopers walking about…brilliant.

Reva seriously said to Kenobi “WhY DiDn’T yOu SaVe Us!?” He was literally in the midst of fighting Grevious and commanding the 212th on Utapau. The end of the Clone Wars was at hand, why would he even be on Corascant? (Definitely spelt that wrong)
Kenobi’s saber BOUNCES OFF Stormtrooper armour…over 100 million dollars in budget, and they can’t edit the saber cutting off an arm or a head? I swear someone made a video of a re edit of that scene that had the sabers actually cutting there head and limbs off?

Hey Theory, I thought you'd be interested to know that George Lucas really liked the *Kenobi* series. According to multiple sources, Lucas gave his full support for the series from the beginning and was pleased with how it honored his work from the prequel trilogy. Pablo Hidalgo from Lucasfilm mentioned that Lucas was "100% supportive" of the concept and considered it one of his favorite recent Star Wars projects. He appreciated how the series brought forward and celebrated elements from the prequels in a way that even surprised him.
However, I 100% must prefer this version and wish it came to fruition.
Hollywood HAS talented writers.

All they had to say 'Yes' to one film, the audience would have shown up, there would be excitement about two more Kenobi films, and Star Wars would've been back.

I haven’t watched anything Disney Star Wars post Force Awakens and Season 1 of Mandalorian, but this actually sounded like the makings of a very good Obi Wan story. The right blend of Legends lore while room for new canon. But of course, Disney had to F it up, which is why I gave on them long ago.

I was watching Movie VI the other day, and that scene with Vader talking to Luke actually gave me that same reaction it gave the original writer. "Wait a minute, when did Obi-Wan think that way? Vader always saw him as a zealot, distant and unable to see nuance.
I guess maybe the Kenobi show is when he got that impression!"

Maul and Vadar in the sams film would have hyped the audience so much because then we'd all want to see Vadar and Maul cross paths and fight which would have been EPIC. Two apprentices to the same master fighting over who was the better sharper apprentice, who had the greater anger, and who deserved to be at Sidious side to then take over the galaxy and kill Sidious. That would have charged the fandom ssooooooooo much.
Well it wouldn't even be a fight if Maul challenged Vader. Probably the reason why it wasn't attempted in any of the film and series. Of course I wouldn't mind seeing them try, but there going to have to have someone backing up Maul if he faces Vader, probably Obiwan.

This is beyond infuriating. Obi-Wan is hands down my all time favorite character and I was incredibly hyped for the show. What we got from the show disappointed me greatly and I don't care if that's considered a hot take. Listening to this video and finding out what could have been is just heartbreaking beyond words. The script sounds amazing and F Disney for not seeing that. Knowing that I'll probably never get to see another Obi-Wan project ever is like a knife to the gut. Ugggggghhhhhh Disneeeeeeeeeeeeey!
Hearing that *DAVE FILONI* turned down this script was a bigger plot twist than Darth Vader being Luke's father.
He only cares about HIS scripts and characters, even since the Clone Wars series, he only cared about himself

I thought the council objected to Anakin being trained as a Jedi because he was too old. But Obi-Wan wanted to wait until Luke was grown up to train him? genuine question from a confused casual fan.

I wish there was a world where we could just write off the kenobi show, and say its not canon and make a NEW kenobi show featuring this. Fumbled a MASSIVE BAG which could have brang in ALL AGES OF AUDIENCES because it had luke, anakin all of those guys.

A good plan for the series would've been an adaptation of the Jude Watson Last of The Jedi novels, that's where Obi Wan links up with Ferus Olin
